We voelden ons onmiddellijk welkom in deze mooie verzorgde authentieke b&b en kregen bij onze aankomst een kopje koffie en huisgemaakte scones. Het ontbijt was bijzonder uitgebreid en lekker en we kregen elke dag nog een lunch mee voor onderweg. De lieve gastvrouw en haar kleindochter verzorgden alles tot in de puntjes. De ligging aan de zee is een extra troef!

Very small, cold and damp room, only warm breakfast option scrambled eggs, bread stale, shower running out of hot water halfway through showering, previous guests hair in shower cubicle, only taking cash.

Absolutely lively!!

The outstanding feature of this accommodation is the hospitality! Small room with amazing view of the sea. Dining and sitting room was available for us and we were greeted with tea and scones. Ample breakfast available and host was just lovely. Has the feel of being invited into someone’s home (which it is). Great shower and comfortable bed.

Room was a little musty to start but the day was really damp we arrived.

The sea view was beautiful. Margaret was warm and welcoming. She fed us well along with her granddaughter.

We had no hot water and the house was cold. "It was their summer". We did have a heater in each room to sleep.

Lovely lady host. Welcomed our dog even though she was afraid of dogs. Lovely breakfast & stunning views. Clearly a family home with a warm welcome. Very clean and comfortable.

Parking good but on a fast road with a bend both sides. Need to be careful when pulling out in either direction

So - the staff was absolutely amazing! The owners are very very nice, the house is located at a very nice place but here is where the positives end.

The house looks like it hasn't been updated for 100 years - there is a lingering damp dusty smell in the whole house, magnified by what seems like one hundred scentes candles - the smell of decaying walls, carpets. We couldn't sleep well because of the smell so if you are smell sensitive - avoid this accommodation. The breakfast was very meh - there were parts of it that were inedible (like the tomato) but quite a big selection of things, smoked salmon was nice. Expensive stay for what it was - old bathrooms, pictures of Jesus Christ everywhere and a feeling of itchiness in the whole house - just a feeling though, no bedbugs😂Grandma is veeeery nice but I personally wouldn't offer this to guests or I would lower the price significantly.

Super clean and spacious close to the river. Great plumbing and great bed. We highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Achill B&B. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and it was great value for the price. Breakfast was included and offered a nice selection of cheeses, bread, yoghurt, and fresh fruit. It was simple but more than enough to start the day, especially considering the price. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They were always making sure we were comfortable and that everything was okay, which made us feel very well looked after. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

One thing to keep in mind is that the owner lives in the house, so the kitchen facilities are not as easy or convenient to use as in a self-catering accommodation. If you are planning to cook your own meals, this is something worth considering.

La signora Margaret e sua figlia e nipote sono state molto accoglienti e gentili, prenotandoci anche un tavolo per cena in una taverna vicina. La colazione era eccezionale, preparata sul momento da loro e con molta scelta. La stanza era piccola ma accogliente, consigliato!

Posizione fantastica. Ottima colazione. Estrema gentilezza della signora che gestisce il B&B. Anche la nipote della signora è estremamente gentile.

La stanza: troppo piccola e senza armadio disponibile: quello che c’è è occupato da indumenti e lenzuola della proprietaria. La struttura è decisamente datata. Francamente non so dire se la vista fantastica compensa queste mancanze!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful, and we highly recommend this place! The host is an incredibly kind, warm, and always smiling person. She took care of every little detail, making us feel welcome from the very first moment. We truly felt as if we were visiting our grandmother's home – full of warmth, care, and genuine hospitality. Our room was cosy, spotless, and beautifully maintained. The bathroom was sparkling clean, fresh towels were provided, the bed was extremely comfortable, and there was always plenty of hot water for a relaxing shower. Breakfast was outstanding, with a fantastic selection of delicious cheeses, cold meats, smoked salmon, and many other fresh products. Fresh eggs were cooked exactly the way we wanted, which was a lovely personal touch. The house has a unique charm and a beautiful soul. Our room offered a breathtaking view of the ocean, making both the evening and the morning truly special. We also greatly appreciated that the house is pet-friendly. We travelled with our two dogs, and they were welcomed just as warmly as we were. The location is perfect – everything is nearby, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. De locatie van deze B&B is werkelijk schitterend! Weliswaar aan een drukke weg maar met uitzicht over een baai. Margareth en haar dochter zijn alleraardigst en gastvrij en het ontbijt was fantastisch. We kregen zelfs een rol aluminiumfolie in onze handen geduwd om nog een lunchpakket samen te stellen.

De accommodatie is zeer gedateerd. De kamer is piepklein en uit de badkamer kwam een onaangename geur. Je dient contant te betalen, iets waar wij geen rekening mee gehouden hadden.

Run by very charming old (land-)lady; just the way landladys were decades ago! with fantastic view of Achil (omen est nomen indeed) and a great breakfast even for us vegetarians. shower a bit noisy and difficult to set to right temperature and quilts maybe a little bit too heavy, but otherwise just perfect. however, important to know that only cash is accepted. would definitely go back again.

as said above; shower is a bit difficult to set and quilts a wee bit heavy, but these are very minor quibbles.

The friendliness

Breakfast was delicious and timely. We were not rushed and food was very good. We were provided with lunch daily so nothing went to waste. Wrapping for food was provided. Beds comfortable and staff very pleasant. Margaret and her family couldn't do enough for us. It was a pleasure meeting their good friend who filled us in on fishing in the area and what hikes to take. If you are expecting matching duvet covers and pillow cases, you will be disappointed but Margaret is comfortable in her surroundings and, aside from the towels, so were we.

Everything was damp including the towels which were provided daily. They all felt as if they came out of the dryer before they were completely dry. I am sure it is because of the close proximity to the ocean (right across the street and down the lawn). I was surprised when Margaret said she didn't take cards, only cash. We took money out to pay the bill. After several more stops, I realized that she meant the room should have been charged through Booking.com. I am trying to ascertain if I was double charged. Once through Booking.com and once in cash through Margaret. Thus far, no bill has shown up on my credit card so I guess I am okay.

Margaret a été aux petits soins, le petit déjeuner était complet et nous avons même été invités a ramener des scones, du pain, et du fromage ! C'est une maison chaleureuse où nous avons même rencontré sa petite fille ! Cadre absolument authentique, une maison "dans son jus", charmante, a quelques minutes de louisburgh et de croagh Patrick. Nous avions eu une vue magnifique sur l'île Achille !

Typisches irisches Cottage einer sehr sympathischen älteren Lady. Zimmer und gesamte Einrichtung sind aus dem Baujahr, aber authentisch. Gastgeberin Margaret ist sehr liebevoll bemüht um ihre Gäste und bereitet Frühstück nach Wunsch zu (full irish, Rührei mit Lachs). Es gibt Scones (auch als Lunchpaket), Obst, Joghurt, Müsli, Saft. Das Zimmer mit Meerblick ist schön hell, aber sehr klein. Margaret hat es uns angeboten. Da wir Twinbetten wollten und 3 Nächte geblieben sind, haben wir uns für das größere, aber dunklere Zimmer ohne Ausblick entschieden. Eine wunderschöne Bank vor dem Haus hat entschädigt ... Sonne bis spät abends und ein traumhafter Blick aufs Meer und Achill Island. Top WLAN-Verbindung, die ich nicht erwartet habe. Die Straße direkt vor dem Haus empfanden wir als überhaupt nicht störend. Die Lage ist top für Ausflüge nach Achill Island, Westport, Killary Fjord oder diverse schöne Strände in der Umgebung.

Der Fernseher ging alle 10 Minuten von alleine aus und sprang 5 Minuten später von alleine wieder an. Ich bin nicht in Irland zum Fernsehen, aber bei einem Fußball WM-Spiel schon doof ... zumal das Problem bekannt war.

The view from outside the house.

The room was small. The shower didn't work properly, it was scorching hot and could not be set to a lower temperature. We could not shower because of this. The bed sheets were dirty. They also had little red dots which we now think were bedbugs or fleas. Sadly we only discovered this late in the evening and had nowhere else to go by that time. The next day we discovered little red bites on our bodies. We skipped breakfast, although we paid for it as we were disgusted and wanted to leave as soon as possible. The owner often replies to reviews that it's an old farm house and expectations have to be as such, but the rooms still have to be clean and functional. Needless to say, the price was also too high. We stayed at places that were much much better and at a lower price in our trip.

Das B&B hat eine tolle Lage mit einem wunderbaren Blick auf Achill Island. Von hier aus sind viele Erkundungen in die Umgebung möglich. Unsere Gastgeberin Margaret ist eine bezaubernde ältere Lady, die ihre Gäste mit viel Herzlichkeit umsorgt. Die gesamte Familie war unglaublich freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war außergewöhnlich mit frischem Obst und leckeren Scones, die für einen späteren Lunch mitgenommen werden konnten. Extrawünsche wurden gern erfüllt. Ja, das Zimmer war sehr klein, hatte dafür einen fantastischen Blick auf das Wasser. Wir haben uns hier außerordentlich wohl gefühlt.

Es war doch ziemlich frisch im Zimmer, was auch die Heizdecke im Bett nicht komplett kompensieren konnte.

The owner met me at the door with a welcoming smile 😊 and a hardy handshake. The view at the front of the house was breathtaking. The breakfast was second to none.

Step access in was alittle awkward but that is mainly as I have some mobility issues.

The property is in a good location right on the foot of Croagh Patrick. The lady working there is nice and tries her best, offered us tea and coffee upon arrival and made us a breakfast and scones the next day . The best part is probably that it is dog friendly considering the limited amount of dog friendly properties in the area.

The property is very outdated. I understand the authentic Irish cottage vibe but this felt more like staying in someone’s family home that has not been updated in a very long time. Cleanliness was not great and the worst part about the experience was the damp and the smell. When we got home we had to wash all of our clothes and even then the smell is still not fully gone. Everything in the house is covered in the damp smell including the bedding! Charging someone 115€ for this kind of stay is outrageous.

The BandB is too close to a road where cars drive fast. It's difficult to leave the place carefully.

Location was great for us as we were overnighting after climbing Croagh Patrick and the B&B was just 5 minutes up the road from there. Comfy bed, hot shower, tasty breakfast and a generous offer of scones to take with us for our onward journey.

Nothing to dislike really. The room was on the small side and the shower was a bit noisy when it was running but minor stuff overall.

The family running this place are great and the breakfast was good. Beds were comfy as well. Good place for parking out front. The owner made a booking for us for dinner at the pub down the street.

Well our bedroom was a great set up it was very damp and moldy in there. Our clothes smelled like mildew when we left. A good dehumidifier would fix this right up.

Snídaně byla naprosto famózní, paní domací ji připravila podle přání a dohodnutý čas. Z domu je krásný výhled na moře a je to blízko na parádní výlety po okolí. Nedaleko je také místní restaurace/pub s michelinským oceněním. Parkování u domu zdarma.

Je potřeba se připravit na chladnější a vlhčí podmínky. Pro nás Středoevropany je to dost nezvyklé.

La casa está ubicada delante del mar con unas vistas preciosas. Tiene parking y desayuno incluido. La propietaria prepara un muy buen desayuno. Ella es muy amable y hospitalaria.

En nuestro caso nos tocó una habitación sin cama doble, pero la propietaria nos permitió juntar las dos camas individuales.

Margaret is a Great Lady and Host. Great views from our bedroom, Cleanliness of room, comfy bed, pillows, Great nights sleep. Shower ensuite, tea, coffee and fresh water and milk. Breakfast Fantastic, Great choice of cereals, scones, brown bread, jams, different cheeses, ham and beautiful salmon. Orange juice, tea, coffee, toast. Hot breakfast, eggs fried, boiled scrambled or poached. We had our 2 dogs with us no problem Rex and Reggie, plenty of walks nearby. Location of property is easy access to Croagh Patrick, Westport, Clifden, Kylemore Abbey, Achill, great roads. We stayed 5 nights hope to stay again but for 7 nights. Great Holiday.

A little bit dated

Posizione con vista mare. Parcheggio davanti alla struttura sulla strada gratuito. Consigliato se si vuole vivere un'esperienza stile "casa della nonna". La signora che ci ha accolto e anche proprietaria della casa é stata amorevole e ci ha prenotato anche la cena in un locale buonissimo. Al mattino ci ha servito una colazione semplice e abbondante come farebbe una nonnina e ci ha regalato gli scones per il pranzo. La casa, come ogni casa della nonna, é vissuta. Sicuramente non va bene per chi non é in grado di adattarsi e si spaventa se vede dei ragni o lombrichi (essendo una casa piena di verde). Pagamento in contanti a fine soggiorno.

L'accueil chaleureux d'une dame âgée qui nous a très bien reçu. Les chambres étaient vieillottes mais très propres. Le petit déjeuner copieux avec la proposition de la dame d'emporter pour le lunch, ce que nous n'avons pas fait...

The accommodation was so clean, comfortable, and in a lovely, peaceful location. The beds were so comfortable. The hostess was so welcoming , kind, and friendly. The extended family that helped out were so professional, kind, and courteous. The food was amazing. Everything you could wish for was provided for breakfast, which was freshly cooked and piping hot. Tea and scones were available on arrival, and a sandwich or scone offered to takeaway away for lunch . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we had lovely walks in the surrounding areas. We would love to go back as it was the most relaxing holiday we had in a long time. Thank you, Margaret and family. Rosemary and David Farrell.

Margaret, the host, was very warm and welcoming. She couldn't do enough for us. She even contacted us on our way down from climbing Croagh Patrick to find out how we were doing. When she discovered we were drowned wet, she allowed us back to the accommodation to change our clothes eventhough we had checked out that morning. We will be forever grateful for her kindness.

The Breakfast was perfect for our needs.....there were options offered. The breakfast room was perfect for the guests and had a great view across the Bay. The shower was hot and welcome. The hospitality was superb, nothing was too much trouble.

There wasn't much that we didn't like, except the size of the room we had but we were offered another room for the second night.

The breakfast was fantastic, a full Irish, cereal, brown bread, salmon, cheeses, home made scones. It was a feast. The location was perfect as my mam and I went to Climb Croagh Patrick and literally a few mins drive away. We will most be definitely be back but this time to stay for longer.

The only downside was we didn’t stay longer

A first class stay at Achill View. Margaret and her granddaughters were outstanding hosts and made my son and I feel very welcome. Our room was comfortable & clean and the atmosphere homely. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, a great way to start the day when climbing Croagh Patrick. For those visiting this beautiful part of Ireland, I can highly recommend.

Meadhbh was a lovely and very accommodating host. We had an amazing stay at her place with a very good breakfast in the morning. The view from the house is amazing. It is very well located and we can highly recommend staying at this lovely B&B.
