A secluded and quiet location. Beautifully renovated historic building the couldn’t fail to impress. Large elegant rooms with furnishings in keeping with the historic features of the building. A 10 minute walk from restaurants and pubs.
Only continental breakfast available. No lighting from the entrance gate to the building entrance for hours of darkness.
The room and castle were beautiful.
Good continental breakfast. Staff was pleasant. Room was comfortable.
We thought we’d get a castle tour, but staff wasn’t available in the mornings.
This is the most unforgettable "historic stay" that anyone could wish for in Ireland...... "dripping" with medieval history. The Claregalway Castle tower project was a superb piece of skilled restoration that took place over 10 years, and actually contains two of the bedrooms. An entertaining free tour is provided by the manager. The staff support the friendly continental breakfast room ..... NO plates of greasy fried food here!! Most bedrooms are in the adjacent historic home ..... spacious and comfortable rooms with small fridges. The day that we left ....... an international group had gathered in the grounds for a Mock medieval jousting/ battle event !! What a historic Hoot. DON'T miss this place.
Nothing
Every thing. Bookimg dot com did not allow to book our child in the reservation. Even though we clearly booked for 2 adulta plua 1 child. The manager was kind to put an extra bed as we arrived. Aldo gave us a slowmotion tour of the castle. Exceptional.

Very cute and interesting Great to have access to the actual castle tower Good breakfast

Our bed was extremely comfortable. The room was large and beautifully appointed with period decorations and furnishings. The owner has made every effort to ensure guests have a quality castle experience. We really appreciated being taken on a private tour of the castle. It's a stunningly maintained piece of Irish history.
Large comfortable room. Excellent staff, good location, and Tower House was awesome to see. Entrance had a electric gate that added to the experience.
Liked everything about our stay. There was a themed event in the main lobby and hall when we were there, but that did not affect our stay.
Klasse Ambiente. In einem Schloss.
Etwas außerhalb
Gorgeous setting. The staff were very friendly and responsive. We were made feel very welcome.
A car charging point on site would be very useful.
Among the best stays ive ever had, ANYWHERE. The staff were amazing. The facilities well maintained and clean. Everything was perfect. We asked if ice was available, and without hesitation they actually left the property to get us a small bag. The highest of praise to everyone working here.
We stayed in the manor house, it was beautiful and full of character. Breakfast was continental but very good Lovely friendly staff. The Castle was amazing but I was glad we stayed in the manor house. Steep narrow stone steps with ropes for hand rails. An amazing conservation and restoration project.
Very unique property.
Our room needed a bit more attention to decor but the effort is there. Change ceiling lights and add a tv but the tv isn’t essential. A nice easy chair would be cozy since there really isn’t a lounge area. But would definitely stay there again.
A very unique lodging experience. Rooms are in the manor house and attached buildings, not in the historic tower. Guests can tour a couple of floors of the tower, if you want to try the 15th century spiral stairs. We stayed in the manor house. The rooms were a good size, as were the bathroom. Not large, but acceptable. The renovation of the buildings is quite remarkable. The location is acceptable, but it is a long drive to downtown Galway. There are restaurants nearby. I recommend it.
This may seem tiny, but it could put a guest in the hospital. None of the showers have any anti-slip surface. No traction built into the surface or a separate rubber mat. Because of that, the shower is slippery to the point of being hazardous. The staff had no answer. We ended up putting a towel down on the floor.
One of the last restored castles in Ireland definitely worth seeing
Breakfast was perfect
We absolutely loved our stay here. The manor and castle were beautiful, and so was our room. I couldn’t recommend this place more - it was a truly magical stay!

Fabulous setting in restored manor house adjacent to castle - with a superb guided tour the next day with the host, Gerry.
Room was a bit hot on arrival (26C) and proved challenging to cool down!
A short distance from Galway, this renovated Manor house provides spacious and comfortable accommodation. We would recommend the Abbey restaurant for dinner.
Large and comfortable room. Big bath.
Staff. Kids worked breakfast. Never met owner or any adults.

I loved how you felt like you were living in a castle in the medieval times. The facility was very nice.
I wish we stayed longer than one night
The atmosphere was outstanding. It exceeded our expectations. The beds were very comfortable with superb linen. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful (even posting something we left behind). The lovely young lad made a killer coffee, apologies if we freaked him with Australian spider story! 🕷️
The groundskeeper Johnny was amazing. He was very friendly and accommodating. The grounds and the interior of the castle are extraordinary. Loved walking around both the interior and exterior of the castle. Room was spacious and even included wine! Breakfast was much better than I expected with various types of breakfast items. Highly recommend
Very friendly people that went over and beyond to accommodate us and show us around. Gerry was the best! He gave us a tour of the castle and grounds made coffee for us and chatted about the castle and area.
The breakfast was delicious and Jerry went above and beyond to make sure of that!
Very comfortable. The host was very accommodating and was on top of the issue in shower

Every thing was great. The staff was very helpful. Thanks

Historische Gebäude. Gutes Frühstück.
Amazing location, spacious and clean rooms. We had our baby with us and all made sure that we were really looked after!
The location suited us perfectly - for driving the following day to an AirB&B rental nearby for a week's stay. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the ambience was beautiful. We rested and breakfasted well, and, knowing the area, we had no problem finding our way about.
As we are both elderly, and one of us has serious mobility issues, the lack of a lift and the long stairway to our room made bedroom access taxing. I must remember in future to check this aspect of our accommodation. The impressive medieval character of the hotel made up for this inconvenience to some extent, and made the visit memorable - but we need the modern convenience of a lift now, if not roomed on a ground floor. One seriously annoying aspect of the en suite shower room and toilet was a washbasin with no functioning hot water tap. The turning top of the tap itself could not be rotated against the base to enable the hot water to flow, while the base of the tap was not fixed to the basin. So when the top of the tap was rotated the entire tap unit rotated - and no amount of wrestling could fix this. That evening of our arrival no member of staff was findable to address this problem so we had no choice but to put up with cold water - even for my morning shave. It makes a good story, but the management needs to staff the hotel sufficiently to ensure that all rooms perform as guests are entitled to expect. How often are rooms inspected, to ensure that such faults are found by the staff, rather than the guests? (Is there also a serious lack of plumbing expertise in Galway - to explain a recurring problem we encountered of hot water taps that could not be depended upon to turn on because of unfixed bases? It happened to me three times in two days, so was I just hopelessly unlucky?)
Beautiful historic property that has been lovingly updated.
A bit of uncertainty regarding check-in. Everything turned out fine, but it did cause some stress.
The staff, mainly John, was great. Very attentive to our needs and knowledgeable about the castle and the area. He made us feel very welcome.
Traffic in front of the Castel was very heavy and the restaurants were busy due to 1st Communion.
Exceptional! We stayed for one night for a function nearby and we were absolutely delighted with our stay. Our host could not have been more helpful or welcoming. We had asked ahead if we could change in the hotel prior to check in as we needed to attend the function early in the day. When we arrived before noon, we were amazed and delighted to be able to check in to the room immediately. Our room was beautiful and spacious with everything we could need and more and we had a lovely informal and relaxed breakfast in the morning. The castle and the gardens are incredible and we got to visit the tower house also. So relaxed and welcoming, highly recommended.
nothing at all!
Attention to detail was incredible. The grounds and rooms are lovely
Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip. The room was extremely spacious and had a lovely view of the river and original tower. The bed was comfortable and the staff were super friendly. It was quiet. Not too far from Galway. Would definitely recommend it.
The history, restoration, and comfort. The tour of the castle was a bonus.
Nothing
Rien
Unique, large room
Too far from Galway
The staff was amazing and the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted. We were walking distance to the small village where we could find food and booze easily. And only a short drive to get into Galway. The Abbey across the road was a true bonus that I didn't expect to love as much as I did.
The Staff was friendly and super accommodating.
The whole property is fabulous with beautiful historic buildings. Being able to visit the castle tower was a highlight of our stay, and we were thrilled to be able to take room in the old mill when we arrived, but we would have been equally as happy in the beautiful manor house. The property owners are continuing to make improvements to an already special property. We very much enjoyed the tour and highlights of the castle that we were given upon arrival. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The recommendation to visit the ruined abbey across the road was an added bonus.
The location, the theme of the hitel and the man in charge, he was very nice and welcoming
There is nothing we did not like
History of the castle and convenient location for Galway and other parts of the West
Beautiful place, full of history, life, and high-quality details. It was a pleasure to stay here, and we highly recommend it. Without a doubt, if we have the chance, we will return. The gentleman who welcomed us was very kind, told us the story of the place, showed us around, thr castle and was extremely friendly. His little dog, Roxy, is lovely. Thank you so much for hosting us and for everything.

Breakfast was healthy, tasty and fresh. The pastry was still warm from the oven. Coffee was fresh made by the cup. The staff was friendly, interactive. I felt we were staying at a friend's home.
Wow! What an amazing place! Even better than in the photos! If you get the chance definitely stay at this beautiful property! We wish we could’ve stayed longer!
Amazing to stay in such an historic location. Coming from a country with zero castles this was quite a novel thrill. The buildings and grounds are great. Really enjoyed the breakfast each morning and the chance to chat and get local information from the very friendly team there.
Had a small issue with our booking and didn't get the room we'd booked for the first night. Chance to experience two different rooms but we were much more comfortable in the room we had booked.
This place was absolutely amazing. We booked this last minute after having a horror time in Dublin and decided to head to Galway for a night. The staff were so accommodating, especially for a last minute booking. The rooms are so awesome, as is the whole venue. Breakfast was also A++. Highly highly recommend.
No complaints
Historical preservation
The breakfast was not as expected. "Continental" type should have more choices. We stayed in many places with such breakfast, but surprisingly there was zero eggs. The quality of bread was dirt cheap,I would not touch it even in my dream. Will suit unhealthy people. The coffee is good, the staff is lovely and friendly.
Nice view. Comfortable bed. Warm floor. Friendly hosts, who helped us with everything. Nice cat)
An amazing stay in an historical site. The staff good not have been nicer, including the four-legged hostess Roxanne. The room made us feel like royality.
Breakfast was good but I would have really liked some homemade Irish porridge. Really not a complaint, but I thought the town of Claregalway was going to be an isolated rural village, not a suburb of Galway.
Sehr gute Lage, freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal.
Room was comfortable and clean. Able to tour castle.
Had to drive to restaurants and activities. Very limited breakfast
Beautiful historic property overlooking a river. Lovely grounds. We had a tour of the castle; the story of its restoration is fascinating. Room was spacious and quiet. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Easy to get to from Galway.
Room was overly warm without a way to adjust the temperature.
Room was not at all what we expected. We were told we could check out and get a full refund. We were at the castle for less than 1 hour total. Now, they won’t respond to any calls or messages from me and are refusing to honor the refund. Terrible customer service and incredibly disappointing
The breakfast was enough. Great , custom made coffee's
Mattresses could be refreshed but good enough.
The historic castle was amazing!!! Rooms were extremely large and comfortable. Breakfast was a 10! Enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine!! Views of the river Clare were great
Beds were a little soft
Niks
Great location! Not far from Galway city center! Room was incredibly spacious and elegant! The bed was so comfortable, too! The property was very neat as well!
Wonderful breakfast. Great coffee and tea. The stream behind the castle was enchanting to sit by and drink wine! Very friendly people!!
The shower needed a door to hold the spray from the shower in as it got the floor quite wet. Also would have been better if there was to set your makeup onin the bathroom .
Fantastic location, very cool to be able to walk around the tower. Great location for visiting Galway city, only a short drive into town. We were warmly welcomed, breakfast was nice and checkout was easy! Would highly recommend.
