The owner was very kind and helpful - even late at night when I was struggling to get the internet to work (which resolved!). The owner brought a lovely breakfast to our room in the morning.

Reviewed Mar 5, 2025Absolutely fantastic, breakfast choice of cooked or continental very full filing. So looking forward to my next stay. The owners are just the best. Just loved everything about it. Make sure you bring your nibble food and wine to enjoy from the get go. You wont want to leave.

Reviewed Feb 15, 2025Can’t recommend the Queensbury Inn enough. Jennie and Ged are wonderful hosts and the property is a delight. A great base to explore the local sights, and easy to get to Wānaka. You are sleeping in a part of NZ’s history, and Jennie makes a mean breakfast with eggs from her chickens. Best place we’ve stayed on our tour of South Island!

The room was well appointed, exceptionally clean, and it is clear a lot of thought and care has gone into the accommodation. Reviewed Nov 24, 2024Of the hundreds of places we have stayed in, over forty years of travel, Queensberry Ian would have to be one of the very best: we were greeted by our friendly hosts when we arrived, the rooms were very comfortable, the gardens beautiful. (Our hosts even jump started our car when the battery went dead.)

Reviewed Nov 14, 2024It's unique. We got the cottages and the entire cottage "exclusively" set aside for our use. The garden, especially the fairy tail-like secret garden, is beautiful. The little dog is cute and welcoming. The host Jennie is exceptionally friendly and prepared Michelin rated breakfasts.

The grounds are beautiful, rooms comfortable and well-kept, hosts congenial and kind, and location perfect for seeing the exceptional sites of Wānaka, Cromwell, and the wine country. If you want to get away from it all, relax, and enjoy yourself, this is the place to stay.

Not for the traveler who cannot be without wifi as the thick walls of the building do not allow for connection.

Reviewed Feb 24, 2024The breakfast was very nice and the owners worked in with us to suit my work schedule. The location was great for a nice quiet relaxing night. And being on a farm it was good to see a few animals and play with the dog. The owners were very friendly and great hosts. They were only too happy to help where they could.
The hosts know that the wifi and broadband is not where they would like it to be and they are working on getting that sorted, But it was still workable when required.

Da die Unterkunft jeweils ca 20 Minuten mit dem Auto von Wanaka und Cromwell entfernt ist wäre es gut man könnte sich abends vor Ort Essen zubereiten. Platz für einen Grill gebe es mehr als genug!

Reviewed Feb 8, 2024Staying at the Queensberry Inn and meeting Jennie and her family (Poppy too, of course) has been the highlight of my trip. Their generosity and friendliness made me feel so welcome I decided to stay longer than I had initially planned. The property is stunning and very relaxing. The room is lovely and full of really thoughtful details that, along with Jennie’s delightful breakfast, will make you realize what an absolute bargain a night at the Queensberry Inn is. I left with the feeling of not having been merely a guest but rather feeling I connected with lovely genuine people, which is a gift for anyone but even more so for those of us solo travelers. Reviewed Jan 18, 2024Die Familie war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam! Wir wurden persönlich empfangen und hatten immer einen Ansprechpartner. Die Gastgeberin hat uns jeden Morgen ein leckeres Frühstück gebracht und uns mit allem versorgt was wir brauchten! Unsere Kinder hat sie mit Spielsachen beglückt. Das Anwesen ist wunderschön und äußerst gepflegt. Die Unterkunft ist sehr sauber und liebevoll eingerichtet! Wir haben uns alle sehr wohl gefühlt und würden jederzeit wieder kommen! Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit!

No place to cook, very loud fridge, uncomfortable pillows. When booking I stated that we are vegans. Upon arrival we got a remark that our stay would be stressful for the host as we only stayed one night. We then talked about what breakfast would look like for us. Apparently it was only the vegan stuff that the breakfast normally features, so we initially got 2 slices of toast, marmite, a few spoons of muesli, a banana, a peach, 6 cherries and 0.2l of orange juice. For 2 people.The bacon and eggs as well as the milk for muesli were obviously left out for us. But when asking if we could have more bread, the most we got was another 2 slices, because 6 slices of toast in total would apparently be too much. If we forget that the host saved most of the cost and time of the breakfast with us, we are still only talking about cents worth of bread. I am used to ordering dishes, leaving out not vegan stuff in restaurants and paying the same, but we booked a BnB and not a room and specifically a bacon and egg breakfast (also this info was nowhere to be found beforehand).

I think access to more filtered water for our travel bottles early in the morning would have been nice. We should probably have asked the night before.

Reviewed Nov 20, 2023Die Gastfreundschaft, die Liebe zum Detail der Ausstattung. Die Lage ist für die Erkundung dieses Teils von Central Otago sehr gut, weg vom Trubel der Hot spots, Wandkalender und Queenstown, doch nahe genug diese leicht zu erreichen.
