Loved the location right next to the centre yet quite. The pool was such a nice addition. Doa and nadia were so wonderful and helpful I really enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was delicious.
Nice style of the rooms and building. Nice view from the rooftop sitting/restaurant. Old city vibe. Accommodating staff.
parking is a challenge and the steep stairs and alleys.
Topervaring!
The view from the roof top where you have breakfast is so beautiful. Great breakfast and warm hearted staff .

Amazing stay at Dar Zerhoun! It truly encapsulated the spirit and charm of the city. The decoration was beautiful and authentic, creating a warm and relaxing atmosphere throughout the riad, and the breakfast was delicous and homemade. A special thank you to the wonderful staff, who were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help. Their hospitality made our stay even more memorable. Highly recommended!
Nothing that we didn't like, the stay was perfect.
Really enjoyed our stay in this Riad. Communications were excellent. The room was comfortable and quiet and there is a lovely terrace where breakfast is served. Staff were helpful and very accommodation to our early start the following morning. Highly recommend the local life tour.
run by local women, friendly, relaxed, beautiful roof, kitchen available for use, supports local economy and a donkey charity (!), so much nicer than anything corporate
The people: AMAZING, like a family feeling Really comfortable bedroom Very clean Incredible views from the terrace Really cute decoration Very well located Super nice service: tea when you arrive Breakfast and dinner: amazing
Nothing, it was perfect
Le Riad est vraiment bien placé. Le personnel est d'une gentillesse remarquable. La chambre était très correcte. Le petit dej ROYAL Merci à tous !
The booking advert did not make it plain that there was not access by vehicles
Very helpful staff who arranged transfers and arranged a visit to a traditional hammam. Tasty breakfast and dinner on the terrace. Keep up the good work!
Authentieke lokatie, super vriendelijk personeel, heerlijk ontbijt & diner, prachtig dakterras.
Niks
With a terrace that has a wonderful view meals are special. The food is good, and the breakfasts are very satisfying. All the staff are very friendly, helpful, and have good English and French.
The wifi is just fine for general use, but not for serious work.
This lovely women-run guesthouse is worth a special trip, especially if (like us) you're eager to support women's businesses in male-dominated Morocco. In Moulay Idriss, you'll get a view of daily life in Morocco that you'll never get in the touristy cities, but with enough infrastructure for visitors to be comfortable. The town's central plaza is full of cafes were you can get a hot drink or a juice or a grilled-meat lunch. It's a nice place for people- and donkey-watching. We enjoyed our walking tour of the town with Hajiba, who shared lots of information about daily life for her and other women in Moulay Idriss. The Roman ruins at Volubilis were an easy 45-minute walk away and were much more interesting than we'd expected. (The guesthouse will arrange a donkey ride there, if you'd like.) Breakfasts were ample and tasty, and the a la carte dinners we ordered were delicious (the best chicken pastillas we had during a month in Morocco!). If we'd organized things more in advance, it would have been fun to take a cooking or baking class at the guesthouse. These women definitely know how to cook! All of the staff members communicated with us well and kept the house nice and clean. As in any traditional Moroccan house in a hillside village, expect a lot of stairs. Hamid, their lovely English-speaking driver, can take you to or from Fes or Meknes, or on a driving tour of the region (Morocco's breadbasket), or just to the Roman ruins.
The wifi didn't work very well in our room, so we had to do our work in the central lounge areas. A TV would have been nice, but that wasn't a big deal.
I enjoyed that it was an all women run establishment. A lovely Breakfast on the terrace overlooking Volubilis was amazing. We had a bit of difficulty finding a taxi that would take us to Volubilis for a reasonable fee. If I could do it over, I would’ve organized transportation through the guest house.
Transportation in this town can be a little challenging.
Rien.
A really lovely house, very comfortable bedroom with electric blanket and heater. The breakfast was the best we had had in our 3 weeks in Morocco. We also ate evening meals and this were equally lovely and good value for money. Stunning views from rooftop, the ladies were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the weather was not great, so it was cold, the 2 nights we had were very memorable and a unique experience.
The history of the Dar. Taking the time to talk to the ladies working there was wonderful. My wife found the Hammam a wonderful experience. A beautiful Walk to Volubilis through the olives a highlight.
Nothing
The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The dinner was exceptional. Breakfast was also great.
The bed was very firm, hard on pregnant hips.
Donkey ride to Roman ruins. Organised for us. Proximity to town. Great view from terrace and lovely food and welcome. Great shower
Heel gezellige toffe plek.
Staff was amazing. Loved the location as authentic Moroccan experience. Be ready for lots of steps. Watched futball with the locals at the coffee shop.
Nothing!
Everything was good
Dar Zerhoune is hidden away in the center of Moulay Idriss is a welcoming and comfortable inn. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food for dinner (tagine) and breakfast (typical Moroccan) were very good. Price for the dinner and the stay was modest and a good value. I loved being able to walk the 3 km or so to Volubulis which really is an extraordinary spot. It was easy to find a taxi back to town.
The Dar was a bit hard to get to w lots of stairs although the directions to arrive were clear. I was the only guest for one night of my stay. It would have been nice to share the place w more visitors.
Merci
Rien
My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights, and it was one of the highlights of our trio. The meals (we had breakfast and dinner) were some of the best we had in all of Morocco. The rooftop was a lovely place to have tea or read and admire the town scenery. The owner and staff were very gracious, friendly, and helpful. They helped us with transportation and information to explore the Roman ruins and get us to our next destination. Highly rec9mmend..
Trop d escalier
The women who run the Dar are welcoming and kind. My room was comfortable and breakfast on the roof was delicious. It’s a pleasant, reasonably priced place to overnight in Moulay Idriss Zarhoune.
Food is always amazing, it is a true Moroccan Atmosphere.
Communicating through the booking app is always a challenge
The staff!! So helpful and knowledgable about the area. The view from the deck was amazing, I was unwell during my stay and they were super sweet looking after me. Hajiba also took me spice shopping after my cooking lesson (note illness was not to do with the cooking :) ) Staff helped arrange a tour of Volubilis and a taxi to and from it- well worth staying over and going early to let to avoid the heat and the crowds. I can not comment in the town itself as I was unwell and did not explore it.
Was not an issue for me but there were a number of steep stairs in the building, so be mindful of that if you have issues with steps.
Dar Zerhoune is a lovely spot if you're looking for a place that is outside of where everyone else goes in Morocco. It's ideal for travelers who aren't seeking a spot with all the bells and whistles a luxury hotel provides but do want somewhere that is cozy and you'll feel like you're at home. The food is excellent and the room is comfortable.
Beautiful and accommodating. Great dinner and breakfast.
The hotel is more like a hostel, very simple but clean and beds were comfortable. The decor could be updated. The best part of Dar Zerhoune is the staff. Lovely ladies, kind and caring, and baking bread in the community oven was a unique experience. The town itself is not a destination; unfortunately it’s dirty. My recommendation is to stop for lunch on the terrace at Dar Zerhoune before going to Volubilis.
Well situated for a visit to the Roman ruins at Volubilis. Nice, comfortable room. Good shower. Good bed with electric blanket! Excellent dinner and breakfast. Really nice, helpful staff.
There were a lot of stairs in Dar Zerhoune, and they were pretty steep, which those with mobility issues might find difficult.
It was a full Moroccan breakfast and they filled all our requests.
A little more or brighter lighting would be nice.
Excellent stay. The staff were so lovely - this is a great stay, the food was excellent for dinner and breakfast. The room was wonderful - even had electric blankets on the bed. Moulay Idriss Zerhoune is a great town to spend time in watching normal life in Morocco, locals were friendly, we spent hours down having tea by the veg market - and of course Volubilis is really close by. It makes such a change to staying in the bigger cities, such beautiful countryside nearby
Warm welcome, comfy beds and amazing food. The staff really looked after us, even did our washing! Loved the environmental touches too.
We liked how peaceful and quiet it was. The staff was unobtrusive but totally helpful. The heater and electric blankets made it very warm on cold January nights. Glad we spent 4 nights at this charming hotel.
We received a warm welcome with the perfume of incense. The lady showed us the room, there was drinking water, free wifi, heater, hot water, electric bed warmer and a cozy atmosphere. We booked a donkey to visit Volubilis and we received all the support needed to visit the small city of Mulay Idriss. Position is easily reachable from the taxi parking.
We were the only 6 guests and were made to feel like family. Hajiba is a delightful, welcoming and interesting woman. The donkey tour to Volubilis was a highlight of our stay in Morocco. We loved the food and the rooftop and Moulay Idriss itself. We travelled in low season and saw very few other tourists. So glad we stayed 2 nights.
Nothing.
Everyone and everything was wonderful
Was an excellent Moroccan Breakfast with the ability to order specific items
The drain in our shower was slow.
Moulay Idriss Zerhoune can be a bit hectic, but Dar Zerhoune is a relaxed oasis in the middle of it, with cool quiet rooms below and a fantastic rooftop terrace on top - where you can lounge and have dinner and breakfast with breathtaking views into the valley (including Volubilis). There are a few steps up and down to reach it, so do consider the donkey option...
No complaint.
Only bc stayed a night but very nice place
All very nice - we ordered the food in which was delicious and a little pricey for what it was. Also don’t take cards do needed to find cash before leaving
View from the dining terrice unbeatable. Food excellent. Staff feels like family. Walked through the olive groves to Volubilis.
Great staff, quiet, good food.
staying at this place we really felt like we were treated like family fadwa, hajiba, faiza and the rest of the staff were more than accommodating the breakfast was wonderful and traditional and no expenses were spared, the cheese was fresh the olive oil was fresh when we went to go to the hammam they offered us some traditional soap to take with us for example which i found really touching a wonderful building with an interesting heritage also apparently its over 400 years old and parts of it used to be a mosque
