Loved our balcony. Sat out at night just looking at the gorgeous view. Was spectacular. Mouro and his wife are superb and make you feel at home. Monica the housekeeper is very sweet and does a fantastic job keeping the rooms clean

What a beautiful place we stayed in Villa 5 and it was so pretty and private. The breakfast was amazing with something a bit different every morning and our host Mauro was a delight. Fantastic location next to the railway station and a 5 minute walk to ferries.

One of our bath towels was dirty or stained, but the staff quickly replaced it when we asked. The bathroom had a strong musty smell during the first few days, which were rainy. The toilet seat was broken and patched with tape. These are just a few areas for improvement, considering the price point.

Maura and his wife were terrific hosts. The Villa is beautiful. We especially enjoyed our own private terrace. What a peaceful way to take a few moments to relax from our roaming the streets in Veranna, hiking to Bellano and taking the ferry to Bellagio. This place is magnificent. The breakfast was special and served with such elegance. Very classy. Thank you, Manny and Julie

The location was good, only a 10-15 min walk to the main areas of the town. Breakfast was lovely each morning. Owner was helpful with some recommendations we asked for. Large wardrobe space was handy.

Air conditioning was not working the whole time we were there. We were told by the owner if it’s below 18 degrees outside, then the property switches off access to the A/C (we were hot after pulling our suitcases up to the top floor as there’s no lift and just wanted to cool down). I’m also allergic to mosquitos so didn’t want to keep window open. We tried to use it again the second day and still couldn’t, even though it was 24 degrees outside and we had come back to the accommodation sweating after our day of exploring. It would be beneficial for this to be noted when making a booking, as the listing states A/C is available in the rooms. Also would’ve been good if there was a mini fridge in the room to keep our water cool.

Really nice little hotel in a cute location. The staff were lovely and really friendly, and the breakfast was simple but easy and had everything you needed. Overall, a really pleasant stay and would happily stay again. Clear easy to find instructions

Internet apparently clocks off at 10:30pm, and the air con takes the day off when it’s actually hot. We were in the annex, which was great if you fancied testing your head against the ceiling every now and then. The table lamp was brighter than the Vegas Sphere, so sleep was never really an option, and the shower required the flexibility of an Olympic gymnast. Not the worst place in the world, but definitely a few things that could do with some attention.

It was perfect for our one night visiting Lake Como. The location was convenient for train travel and within walking distance to the ferry and numerous restaurants. The room was great for 2 people , with great A/C and a roomy shower. Breakfast was good, served in the lovely garden. Mauro was super responsive to all messages and provided delicious restaurant recommendations.

It had a fantastic view and private terrace attached to our room. It was near the ferry dock and train station. Mauro the owner was very responsive and answered our questions about Varenna.

Well it does have some door locks that you have to get used to. I guess if you are Italian it’s not an issue. Just keep turning forward and back to open.

Owners were lovely. Location great, varenna was a great choice. Close to rail and waterfront. Breakfast was well presented and varied day to day so was good.

Pienso que la forma de abrir nos la hubieran dicho por lo menos 1 día antes para estar pendiente del código. Porque no sabíamos como entrar cuando llegamos. Nos lo dijeron 2 meses antes y como tuvimos que estar en varios hoteles por 1 mes, ya no lo recordábamos.

Mauro is such an excellent host. He made sure our stay is super comfortable. He treats every one as his personal guest. Wonderful service, wonderful location.

The property is conveniently located and has excellent views of the lake. The pictures on the booking portal do not do justice to the view in reality. The owners are very kind and warm who greet you well. I will return if ever i come back to Como

Very welcoming, so beautiful. I had such an amazing experience in Varenna. The villa is just a short walk from the main city, is nicely tucked away and quiet. I felt safe and relaxed, it was wonderful!

Close to the main Varenna train station. Fantastic view from the room over the lake. We had a very large balcony/ outside area to the side that enhanced the view and allowed to sit out. The room was basic but very clean with a lot of clothes storage space available. The bathroom was large with an excellent walk in shower cubicle and again, very clean. A continental style breakfast was provided with an extra different offering each day, i.e. cheese, vegetable cake.

A few issues with the air conditioning that was exaggerated due to the exceptionally high temperatures, but generally it was available albeit not chill cold.

Das Zimmer war schön, aber recht klein, so dass ein großer Koffer kaum Platz hatte. Dafür war aber der Balkon sehr groß.

De la chambre du rez-de-chaussée Je ne dirais pas vue sur le lac, mais plutôt vue imprenable sur la gare de Varena . L’hôtel est sur la voie ferrée et on voit mieux la gare et son parking que le lac … Déco de la chambre vieillot sans charme ( meubles de salle de bain abîmés et poignées érodées, cintres de plusieurs paroisses). Petit déjeuner hyper basique peu généreux et non varié et non qualitatif ( nappe tachée, un œuf dur , deux fromages apéritifs de grande surface type apérofrais en guise de fromage !, jus d’orange bas de gamme) Et la cerise sur le gâteau du beurre rance…

We loved this property. It was very close to the Varenna train station which made lugging our suitcases to our destination very simple. For checkin we arrived late in the evening and they provided a very detailed explanation on how to get into the property upon arrival. They also served breakfast every morning and it was incredible!!! We loved the breakfast, the location, and everything about our stay here.

Mauro was warm and welcoming, very helpful and fun. Communication was great and check in was straightforward. It was lovely to have a traditional Italian breakfast and the ingredients were excellent. Being able to eat breakfast on the patio with such an amazing view, was a real treat and experience. Location was perfect for us as we travelled from Milan by train, a short walk from the station. We had a large suitcase which we pushed up the hill. We could have used a taxi, if we had wanted to. We embraced the challenge! We stayed in the loft room and the view was fantastic through the loft window. Being so close to the centre of varenna also means you can avoid the big queues for ferry tickets and an 8 o'clock get up means you have the waterfront to yourself before it gets busy.

Nothing. Mauro was clear about the loft room and we felt it was fairly advertised. I am 180 cm tall and it was absolutely fine. Of course you are in the roof space so the ceiling dips near the edges.

Los anfitriones muy agradables, una familia de muy buen trato, afectuosos y cuidadosos siempre de que sus huéspedes tengan la mejor experiencia. Volvería mil veces!

The view was incredible! The terrace attached to our specific room was huge and was a destination in itself. The hosts were so welcoming and kind. The breakfasts they provided were fabulous - homemade, served on cute china, and overlooking Varenna. It was a place we will fondly remember.

It would be nice to have had a mini bar and perhaps more flexibility on bfast times. The train, although quiet, is quite close, so if you are a light sleeper, it may annoy you.

Sur les hauteurs de Varenna, une belle maison fleurie et au calme. Pas un bruit la nuit. A 15mn à pied du ferry et du centre ville. Cette maison est incroyable avec une superbe vue sur le lac, excellent petit déjeuner fait maison en terrasse. Nous étions dans la chambre mansardée, toute mignonne et climatisée. Maurio et son personnel dont adorables et dévoués. Notre voiture était garée sur le parking de la gare à 3mn.

Tolle Unterkunft mit grandioser Aussicht auf den See. Mauro und seine Frau sind perfekte Gastgeber - freundlich, hilfsbereit - man fühlt sich einfach wohl! Das Frühstück auf der Terrasse ist mit viel Liebe hergerichtet und schmeckt köstlich! Das Zimmer (Nr. 4) ist sehr geräumig und lässt keine Wünsche offen Wenn wir nochmals nach Varenna kommen, dann Übernachtung sicher nur bei Mauro in der Villa Varenna :-)

- Frühstück ist immer erst um 9 Uhr. Das ist etwas spät, insbesondere wenn man das Schnellboot nach Como erwischen will - schön wäre ein kleiner Getränkeautomat (oder Kühlschrank mit Getränken zur Entnahme), da man sonst immer die Wasserflaschen den Weg hinauf zur Unterkunft mittragen muss.

Great location to explore Varenna and Lake Como. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Mauro the host was great and very helpful with information or any questions we had. The breakfasts provided by Mauro and his wife were very good!

This is a minor comment but it would be nice to have a coffee maker or Keurig type machine. That being said Mauro made great cappuccinos and coffee at breakfast. Would also be nice to have a small refrigerator. These would be great items to have but I was not expecting to have them. This is just a suggestion for improvement more than a dislike.

The location was perfect - just above the train station. Our host was gracious and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with fruit, croissants and yoghurt, as well as an egg dish prepared one morning. Lots of great space outdoors for sitting. We would stay there again and highly recommend.

We could not get ac to work properly so it was too warm. Busy train station but not too loud later in evening. Bathroom tiled floors are very slick when wet, be careful

The location was excellent as well as the included breakfast. We had a room with a terrace making for a nice area to relax and view the lake. These wonderful items were only outdone by the property’s host, Mario. He was so pleasant and helpful making our stay extra special. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Great location, beautiful setting overlooking Lake Como with lovely flowers. Room we had with balcony gave us a place to relax and enjoy the evenings with a glass of wine.

The entire property was phenomenal. The host was amazing and the breakfast were wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about this entire visit. There have been very few places that I have traveled throughout Europe that were as nice and welcoming as this place.

What a wonderful weekend we have just had at Mauro and Paola’s fabulous family run hotel in Varenna. It is a few minutes walk up hill from the station and only 10 minutes walk to the centre where there are many restaurants and also the ferry stop. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. Our room had a stunning view over the lake and some rooms have a terrace. The bed was very comfortable. The main thing we loved was that all the guests (6 rooms) enjoyed a freshly prepared delicious breakfast together on the terrace overlooking the lake. Mauro and Paola took so much trouble making the breakfast different each morning and all laid out ready for us at 9am. We loved chatting to the other guests too. Varenna is stunning but EXTREMELY busy with many restaurants and bars. It is lovely to take the ferry to Belaggio Menaggio and Tremezzo. We look forward to returning. Thank you Mauro and Paola

We had a very enjoyable stay. The hosts were extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visit. The breakfast was very good and a great way to start the day. We stayed in the small attic room, which was compact but perfectly sufficient for our needs. The location is excellent – very close to both the train station and the lake, making it easy to explore Varenna. We also appreciated the outdoor seating area in front of the building. The bathroom is quite small, but it is well equipped and has everything you need. Overall, we had a very good stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. We would happily recommend this place to other visitors.

Excellent stay at Villa Varenna. The area is peaceful and quiet, and we had a great night’s sleep. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The location is very convenient, close to the train station, ferry terminal, and town center. However, the property is uphill and some parts of the walk do not have sidewalks, which may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. Breakfast was very good, and the staff — Mauro, Paola, and Monica — were very kind and welcoming. We would stay there again.

Breakfast could be served a bit earlier. If you have one shower after another, it may run out of hot water.

Absolutely lovely villa in fantastic location just above train station. On the outskirts, so you're not in the middle of the daily crowds that descend on Varenna, but a very short easy walk to ferry + town. Very clean, tidy - even elegant - building, with very warm and welcoming hosts that make a somewhat light, but very fresh, healthy + tasty breakfast for you every morning. You feel more like a private visitor staying there than a B&B "guest". Best of all - our room's amazing private terrace with its wonderful views! We spent many happy hours sitting there - even in the rain it was beautiful. Bathroom compact, but just fine as far as hot water and pressure go.

The room was really small and shaped in a way that we actually had to lift the suitcases up over the bed corner to get them into a space where we could set them down. But once we did, there was a niche where we could leave them open for easy access. After that, the room size was no big deal - but ONLY because we had the awesome terrace space (otherwise it would have been WAY too tiny). Another "inconvenience ' is that you ARE out on the edge of things: there is only one small (and expensive) "convenience style" shop with limited opening hours in the near vicinity. If you want to drink anything besides tap water in your room, you have to buy it in advance and, if you happen to like soft drinks or beer beer, there is nowhere to keep it cold. I know this is a B&B - not a hotel. But I think guests would find it a HUGE extra perk if the hosts could manage to create a system where on-site guests could access a (basic) selection of (chilled) beverages via a central location that they pay for (honour-system sign in sheet?) when they depart.

Cada detalle fue hermoso. Aunque Mauro te explica desde un principio todo claro a través ves de mensaje porque la villa está exactamente detrás de estación del tren y nos tuvo paciencia porque aún así nos perdimos. Está villa se merece un 20/10. Volvería y la recomiendo.

Our room was comfortable but a bit cramped. We had a wonderful view from the balcony. The hosts were most pleasant and accommodating. A steep 6 minute walk to the ferry.

A nice setting but difficult to find. Parking is non-existent. There were no curtains to fully block out light at night in our room.

We absolutely loved this hotel. Mauro is a wonderful host. They serve a nice full breakfast each morning at 9:00. It very close to the train station - just exit the station to the road under the arches and go up the hill that parallels the tracks, and you will see their sign at the next intersection. Be sure to get a day pass for the ferries. You can get it the day before in spite of what the web sites say. Go to the ticket office at 7:00 or 19:30 and miss the long lines.

It was great all-around.

The property is beautiful and homey (yes, it’s a tough combination - Mauro and Paula have managed to create this!) as soon as I walked into the house, I was pleasantly surprised by a homey scent of a place that makes frequent baked goodies. It smelled like my grandma’s home from childhood - as she always prepared apple crepes when the grandkids visited. That scent alone made me smile :) As I made my way all the way upstairs (room #3 - as Mauro warned me - the attic), I enjoyed the decorated walls - another touch of coziness. “The attic” was another pleasant surprise - no warning was necessary. I consider myself tall (5’7”) and I have not banged my head on the ceiling. In fact, the room had a beautiful view - it was bright and (again) - very cozy! I had the best sleep that night. For the first time since arriving in Italy I got my full 8 hours. It was a combination of a comfortable bed and complete silence. The breakfast was delicious - as I guessed by the scent that welcomed me the night before. I won’t spoil the surprise, just take my advice - if you choose to stay here, have breakfast before you head out to your adventures around lake Como.

The Villa was very close to the train station, so it was easy to travel too and from the villa. The host was very friendly and the breakfast was nice.

The owner Mauro is SO great, he speaks excellent English and is so helpful & kind. The view from our room was amazing! The breakfast was absolutely delicious! The property is close to the train station (no need for a taxi) and also close to town!

Wow wow wow, what an amazing stay! The villa is absolutely beautiful both inside and out; the exterior is full of lovely furniture and decorated with flowers and statues. The room was modern yet so charming, well stocked with lovely toiletries and the view was absolutely incredible - both from the bedroom and the gorgeous private terrace! The bed was so comfortable, and we felt right at home from the very first minute. The location was perfect for us. Just a two minute walk up from the train station, and 5 minutes from the village and ferry port. Getting around without a car was so so easy with the villa being in such a central location; we managed to get from Milan to Varenna, Varenna to all parts of the lake on the ferries, and then over to Lago di Lugano before heading back to Milan, and it was all completely stress free. And the most important part - the beautiful hosts! Our welcome was so warm and inviting, it felt like being welcomed into a family home. Nothing was too much for Mauro - him and his wife were so kind and their breakfast was delicious. It was the perfect start to our days, setting us up well for lots of walking and exploring. We truly cannot thank you enough for such a perfect anniversary/birthday stay, we loved every minute and would love to come back one day.

Warm atmosphere, great location and walkable to town. The breakfast was personally prepared for you and robust. Beautiful setting and view. Take advantage of the e bike rentals across the street at Lake motion. Paola is a fantastic guide up the mountain. They can also hook you up for a private boat tour.

A very traditional and historic property, well kept by the owner. Mr Mauro personally looks after all the affairs along with his wife. They take care of guests before and after check in like a family. Location of the property is excellent with most stunning views of the lake como from window and from a very nice terrace provided along with the bedroom

That my wife and I weren't about 20 years younger. We climbed three flights of stairs, which for somebody training for Olympics track and field, would be absolutely amazing! We're both close or at 80 years old, something I suggest that people in our cohort should consider.

A very easy walk from the train station. Easy stroll to everywhere. Beautiful private patio and entrance. The staff is very easy to work with and accommodating. A great visit!!

The villa was beautiful and well cared for. It is located close to town centre, train station and ferry port (although tests your fitness getting up to the front door). The hosts were phenomenal, they catered for our gluten free needs with a gorgeous breakfast every day and left us a bottle of sparkling wine after spotting on our passports it was my birthday during our stay. The terrace room is lovely and the terrace was a real highlight of the stay it has two comfortable loungers and a nice bistro set for two, perfect for a coffee in the morning or takeaway spritz from the shop nearby (as photographed). The bathroom is modern and the bedroom was spacious and in a great condition. We will be returning!

Mauro and his wife were fantastic. The rooms are clean and the breakfast cooked for us was superb. The location is very easy to get to from the train station. And in my opinion, Varenna is the most romantic and best place to stay in the middle Lake Como area. The town has plenty of restaurants and is the most pitches. It’s not nearest crowded either.

Das Personal wollte Bargeld für das Parkticket von mir und war wütend als ich keines dabei hatte. Laut Ihnen hätten sie mir vor meiner Ankunft gesagt ich bräuche Bargeld, dass konnte ich dank der Chatfunktion wiederlegen. Die Frau war sehr unfreundlich. Zudem sind die Fenster sehr dünn, weshalb man die Durchsagen am Bahnhof sehr laut hört.
