Cambridge Retreat was a great place for a stopover. The host was lovely and welcomed us into her home. It was very clean and easy walking distance to 2 restaurants and a small supermarket.

A suggestion would be to have a TV mounted in the bedroom for guests to use and possibly a small fridge in the laundry/bathroom for guests to use.

The hostess, Margaret was lovely and welcoming. The place was very clean. The bathroom was excellent and some lovely lavender soap provided (you cannot purchase, so was very special). There were 2 good restaurants less than 2 minutes walk away. The beds were comfortable.

I was not expecting a homestay situation, at all. A homestay is a different experience to the B and Bs I have previously experienced. The ad felt misleading. The original ad did not even indicate it was a Band B unless you looked really hard, nor was this mentioned even in the reviews. If you are into home-stays, you could not ask for more. No separate entry and parking was on street. No place in the room for luggage, or a luggage rack, but we could put luggage in another room

What a wonderful retreat with an exceptionally gracious, generous and hospitable host. The beautifully decorated ensuite room was large with a luxurious bed with quality linen and white, soft and engulfing towels .We had the best nights sleep. There was safe parking right outside the door. Margaret, our host was friendly, welcoming and provided lots of very useful tourist advice (local and further afield). Our breakfast was superb. We can highly recommend this property and the wonderful host, Margaret. Thank you so much.

Freundliche, liebevolle Vermieterin. Magaret gab mir auch noch Tips für die Erkundung der näheren Umgebung und meine Weiterreise. Das Zimmer und Bett waren sehr gemütlich und alles überaus sauber. In der hauseigenen Küche besteht jederzeit die Möglichkeit, sich Kaffee oder Tee zuzubereiten. Das Frühstück wurde mit viel Charm und in fast familiärer Atmosphäre präsentiert.

it was essentially an AirBNB - a private house with letted rooms. If I wanted an AirBNB, I would have gone to that site. There was no clear indication that it wasn't a hotel. Even the entrance looked like a normal house. We were uncomfortable at staying in what is to all intents and purposes an unregulated private house When I rang to say we wouldn't be attending, the woman (Katherine I suppose) was rude and condescending. She said "it wasn't an AirBNB because it was through booking.com", refused to consider a refund and laughed a couple of times when I was obviously upset. This should not be on Booking.com at all - I use that for PROFESSIONAL accommodation, not some greedy homeowner who writes their own rules. This type of lodging should be completely removed from Booking,com. Again, if I wanted an AirBNB (a private residence with rooms for rent), I would have gone to that site. I loathe their business model - it is a blight on society - and I refuse to support these types of rentals under any conditions, whichever website it was listed on. It verges on false advertising to put this on a hotel site. I'll be making a more detailed complaint to Booking.com after my holiday.

Good location close to dinner places and just off motorway. Very quiet area and Margaret was a great host who was happy to chat or leave me to it. The breakfast was generous and room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. Parking was easy to access across the road from the house.

Was able to watch Six Nations Rugby on Sky on Margaret's TV. Joe's Garage was convenient for good food. Location was convenient for visiting Hobbiton. Margaret gave helpful advice on places to visit on the next leg of our trip.

Had to share a bathroom the first night, despite booking for one for ourselves. Bedroom was cramped, although we were upgraded for the 2nd & 3rd nights. No tea/coffee facilities in the room, although there wasn't really space for them anyway. Cash payment only and no reduction offered for inconvenience.

Margaret gave us a warm welcome, even though our plane was delayed and we arrived late evening. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The bathroom/toilet was clean and had towels and essentials provided. The house is modern and is in a quiet residential area. Breakfast was continental with a range of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and spread and yogurt. Margaret was the perfect hostess during our stay at her lovely home. She also knows the area well and can advise on places to visit.

The house was close to highways, city centre, restaurants. We used it as base to travel to tourist attractions nearby, Hobbiton, Māori Dinner, Rotorua, Glowworm Caves. House was immaculate, Margaret was an amazing host.

Lovely quiet neighbourhood, close to main highway and centre of town. Our host was very inviting and accommodating when we arrived back late from our glow worm adventure. Twin room was excellent and so were the bathroom facilities. Breakfast more than adequate. Overall an excellent stay with a welcoming host.

Property is on a corner and we missed the house number on the first pass, but found it on the second. Parking is on street but safe and freely available.

Margaret was an excellent host. She was ready and waiting for us. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The welcome was genuine and we felt like we were coming home. Margaret offered snacks, refreshments and gave us a superb breakfast. She also gave advice of future travel as well as providing local recommendations for food and sightseeing.

Lovely hostess - she went out of her way to make us feel at home. The house has a modern finish inside and the room was great with a personal touch - more than we expected. For breakfast we had croissants and cereal - more than enough to get us going. Great location as well.

Warm home; comfy queen bed, and Queen singles available in twin share option choice. Lovely peaceful tranquil home, Host-Margaret a charming lady. Free wi-fi more than adequate for my needs. The only thing missing was an affectionate ginger pussy-cat curled up on my lap purring in unison to my evening music choice. Sadly no affectionate pussy-cat. Everything else just great

Margaret was a lovely host, we learned a lot about the area and what to explore on the North Island. We would highly recommend staying with her!

Althought it is a shared house, you will have a own bed room, big bathroom and clean toilet. Breakfast is some cereals and breads which are placed on the dinning table, you can take what you want. One restaurant and supermarket near by, it just within 5 mins walk on foot.

Great Breakfast - Cereal Blueberries Yoghurt Coffee Tea Orange Juice Milk Tast and Crumpets All Available and beautifully laid out on the table and bench. Margaret was an outstanding host and would highly recommend if you need a couple of nights in Cambridge. We will sure be returning for future visits to the Waikato.

A bit disappointed, not in the location or cleanliness as this was excellent , as was our host , but we didn’t realise it was a house where the owner also lived , and it was also owners lounge and kitchen . Maybe I did not read it correct but thought it was a self contained place for our group not a shared house. Also wasn’t too happy that we had to pay on the day, being from abroad it would be much better if it was taken direct with Booking. Com

Advertisement in my Opinion should have made it much clearer that it was a house share . I would of understood it more had it been booked through air bnb but wasn’t expecting this through booking.com

Just like everything else the breakfast was exceptional, clearly reflecting the host’s intentions. Everything was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay in these very luxurious surroundings.

The house and facilities are very gooD. The house owner is very kind and well prepared for all the facilities. Clean and comfortable.

No TV in room. Bed room is A bit small and no chairs and table. No electric kettle . Air conditioning is A central system for the whole house, had to request owner to turn on. Had to pay in cash only.

Our host was welcoming and very attentive to all our needs. The accommodation was like a 5star experience and would definitely have no hesitation in recommending the Cambridge retreat to all future guests.

We didnt like that we stayed there for one night only, arrived late and left early in the morning. You should definitely stay longer than we did!
