That we could not stay longer !!
This is a registered historic building, the interiors unique and interesting. We had one night only which was comfortable and were served a delicious breakfast in a stately room. Generous and helpful host.
Nothing , all good.
Breakfast was amazing as usual. John is an amazing host. Thank you.
Not only a lovely historical homestead but fantastic hosts who look after their guests exceptionally well.
Interesting historic homestead, warm welcome and great breakfast!
Nothing
We loved the history - the beautiful woods used to build the house & the old trinkets. Our bed was very comfortable & it was lovely looking out over the homestead gardens. John was very welcoming, helpful, & cooked us a delicious breakfast. It is great that the old house has been saved so we were happy to support this noble cause.
I wouldn’t recommend it for people with mobility issues as the bedrooms are upstairs & the private bathrooms don’t adjoin the bedrooms. This is not a problem otherwise & added to the quirkiness of staying in a very old house.
Loved it - so clean and very interesting. Loved the rural setting. Beautifully furnished with so many interesting objet d'arts. A time capsule but done with real flair.
Stairs - which you can't avoid - were a bit of a pain.
An unforgettable stay in this beautiful historic property with warm and welcoming hosts John and Giovanni.
It’s a beautiful home with heaps of character furnishings. It is nice and quiet and John prepares a fabulous breakfast
No complaints
It is a great place for a quiet rural stay in a historical homestead. It is full of beautiful adornments, new and old. Breakfast was lovely, served in the formal dining room. Our host John was very welcoming and shared the house's story with us.
The hosts were fantastic and we enjoyed their beautiful historic home, and breakfast was very special!
Beautiful, quiet property with spacious room and very comfortable bed. Very tasty breakfast and excellent hosts. Thank you very much.
Enjoyed everything.
Incredible historic house in a lovely setting. Welcoming hosts and a delicious cooked breakfast.
Amazing house with character and personality. Beautiful setting. John and Giovanni were lovely hosts. The lemon curd for breakfast is absolutely delicious.wished we could have stayed here longer.
Minor issue: Google maps led us to the wrong place.
excellent Breakfast, convenient location

Lacked access to kitchen facilities and lounge. No response to messages left regarding food food options. Not terrible but wouldn't come.back.
Friendliness of hosts was great. All facilities we used were as described and comfortable. Loved the breakfasts in the morning - made the start to our days perfect. Location was perfect for us and loved the quietness of the countryside around us.
We loved everything so nothing to write here.
Rooms Spacious and superClean.
Peaceful, and lovely gardens
Absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this to anyone wanting a private rural county escape.
Peaceful and beautiful location - quintessential CHB.
A fridge and coffee making facilities in the room itself and an ensuite would have been nice, but facilities were adjacent and the house was lovely.
A beautiful homestead offering every comfort. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and provided exceptional breakfasts.
We loved the fabulous hospitality, the breakfast and the amazing opportunity to step back in time in a beautiful historic homestead. We loved our stay.
Delightful historic home, filled with antiques. Fabulous cooked breakfast.

The house was beautiful and historic. Fascinating inside and out. The views and animals were incredible.
Walking down the hallway up and down short stairwells to get to the water closet was inconvenient.
A beautiful historical homestead, full of history and beautiful furniture. John and Guiseppe are great hosts. Room was comfortable with separate private bathroom. Lovely cooked breakfast. Location neatr to main highway makes it ideal stopover after a long drive.

Review We had such a wonderful stay at Ashcott Homestead. The house itself is absolutely beautiful - elegant, full of character, and steeped in amazing history. Our room was spacious with a super comfy bed that made it hard to leave in the morning! The farm surroundings are stunning and peaceful, and we loved waking up to the sound of birds and the sight of rolling green paddocks. The friendly dogs were an added treat, so sweet and welcoming. Our hosts were absolutely amazing - warm, generous, and full of great stories about the history of the house. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and nicely presented. It felt like a real country escape, but with all the comforts of home. We’d love to come back and stay longer next time. Highly recommended!
What a great history filled place! Grand old historical homestead about 15 kms from Waipukurau. Quite a special place. Excellent breakfast in sun-filled room.
The location means that it is best to eat out for dinner before booking in - 15 minutes from local bars and restaurants.
Fabulous old house, beautifully furnished in character. Lovely grounds.Friendly and helpful hosts.
John was awesome helped with my bags got told abit about the history, the bed was so comfy, breakfast was amazing, it was dog friendly so was very happy my girl could come with me. the scenery was beautiful
I have no dislikes it was all beautiful
Kid friendly, clean and welcoming
Beautiful Historic Homestead. It is an experience, not just a place to stay. Breakfast was delicious. Hosts are welcoming and friendly but professional and discrete at the same time. Loved it the first time, loved it the second time, and will certainly be back again. Thank you, John and Giovanni.
Hosts very helpful breakfast super! Bed may be the best we had entire 4 week trip.
Great ambience with wonderful furnishings and decor.Friendly hosts and great breakfast.Peaceful country setting.
Nothing ( but beware there are stairs). Onga Onga is tiny and quaint but Waipukurau is underwhelming!
Our host greeted us on arrival and we enjoyed a short stay at Ashcott. The room was very comfortable and facilities really good. We would certainly stay again if in the area
Great hosts. Lovely room in a beautifully restored homestead. Great cooked breakfast. Bed was super comfy. Highly recommended. Thanks John and Giovanni
Excellent breakfast
Grounds not in keeping with the historical home
Beautiful old homestead, exceptionally furnished with period furnishings. John and Giovani are very welcoming hosts. The breakfasts wear so nice and well exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
Great welcome outstanding interior and location fantastic service
The setting was beautiful. Very clean. Such a comfortable bed. Lovely hosts!
Beautiful old homestead with welcoming friendly proprietors.
Nothing, baring in mind it is an old historic homestead.
We were welcomed by Jenny as the hosts had been called away. She was charming and cooked a very nice breakfast. We were the only guests that night. We fed ourselves in the evening using the kitchenette facility provided.
The house is presented very much as a traditional home, with something of a "preserved" feel to it, so not necessarily "homely" as such. The gardens are, to be honest, in need of a little attention. The grass areas seem a kittle unkempt and convulvulus (tangleweeed) had pervaded the front area; the gravel parking area needs weeding.
Such a beautiful home, in the peaceful country, excellent breakfast and host.

- lovely warm welcome from Giovanni & John - the most exquisite rural setting, you can hear a pin drop - all rooms are beautifully individual, no corporate beige here. Lovely attention to detail, even chocolates for the guests in the room - the BEST omelette I have ever tasted on the cooked breakfast
Nothing at all
The house was beautiful, and the hosts were very accommodating, and the facilities had all that we needed. Breakfast was delicious.
Beautiful historical home and a warm welcome from John
Location close to our family members wedding venue. The grounds were lovely and so peaceful. Inside we felt like we had stepped back in time to an old English area. All rooms were comfy with added touches of chocolates and water. Even sanitiser. The bathrooms were very clean and lived how John & Giovanni thought of make up flannels that were dark so not to stain the pristine white towels. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious with an array of cereals as well. We felt very spoilt in their grand setting of the dining room. Everything was done to make us feel right at home and very hospitable.

Was very grand and regal but very comfortable, cosy but very homely. The facilities were fantastic and the hosts John & Giovanni were the best they went above and beyond so grateful
Beautiful house, welcoming hosts and great breakfast.
We booked a room with a bathroom next door, however the room we were given, although more spacious had a bathroom much further away.
Wonderful place, out of time, well maintained and very well decorated
Being in a rush to have breakfast between 8 and 9 and leave at 10.
The rooms were beautiful and cosy! The homestead is gorgeous and has a unique style! John and Giovanni are wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcomed!
Beautiful and cosy homestead, room was comfortable and we had our own walkout balcony, own bathroom and bed was super comfy. Giovanni welcomed us with friendliness and warmth and provided us with everything we needed. Didn’t get to meet John but he was super easy to deal with via email and kept us updated. Great service John & Giovanni

Amazing location and superb hosts
Breakfast was excellent. Ambience of house was exceptional. Facilities were good, even though room was not large and bathroom down a few steps
Room was cold until we found the heater!
Great hosts very accommodating Very relaxing atmosphere Old style New Zealand country living Beautiful home
Wonderful historic property. Easy to find. Everything you need whilst maintaining the integrity of its age. Exceptional comfortable bed, slept like a dream. The hosts were incredibly welcoming yet allowed you your space. I hope to visit again.
Breakfast was excellent. Love the place very must.
The homestead was full of charm and had a nice atmosphere with lots of decor details to look at. We stayed in the charming smaller bedroom called Sunrise and had a smaller bathroom next door. The room had a good heater and electric blanket, so we were nice and toasty quickly. The breakfast in the morning was the highlight. A lot of choice on cereals and the cooked breakfast was tasty and really nicely presented and all cutlery and china were immaculate. We felt like lord and lady of the manner sitting at our large dining room table. The house is nice and clean. Thank you for a lovely stay.
There were a few narrow steps to navigate down/up to the bathroom which was fine for us but may not be for others. I think it was only the Sunrise bathroom though.
Very comfortable and delightful old house, done up beautifully. Our room was comfortable and the little touches provided by John added to our stay. The breakfasts were delightful and greatly enjoyed. It was great value.
The house was warm but to have the empty fire places in use on cold evenings would have added to the stay
The hosts were amazing. Very informative when asked questions about the Homestead, but not in your face at other times. We were served a cooked breakfast each morning, we were not expecting a cooked breakfast, so this was a bonus.
Exceptional breakfast with lots of surprises like sweets in room, guest lounge to make tea, coffee, hot chocolate plus biscuits and fresh fruit when you felt like it.
Everything was superb
We liked everything - Ashcott Homestead has so much history just a stunning place. We only met Giovanni, he was such a lovely person to chat to.
Nothing too major but a ensuite within the room would have been great but at least our bathroom was very close. Need to be aware that this property is approx 36kms from the closest place for dinner.
Old fashioned homestead with warm welcome from Gio
Friendly host and gorgeous old homestead
Love the decor. Awesome breakfast!
Beautiful restored furnished home, tasteful decorated. Nice relaxing, accommodating host. Wonderful hospitality.

Hosts were welcoming and great attention to detail. Unfortunately the poor weather made the public areas all a bit gloomy but bedroom was very warm and comfortable.
Bathroom configuration and distance from bedroom unusual but worked OK. I chose Ashcott House because of my history interests but it is isolated so would probably a better experience with travelling companions.
Breakfast was nice.
Beautiful property, cozy room with comfortable bed, gracious hosts and delicious breakfast

We enjoyed staying in this historic house so much . John and Giovani hosted us so friendly and warmly and we had very interesting discussions with them.
A fabulous heritage home set in beautiful gardens and farmlands. John and Gio were wonderful hosts - very welcoming and friendly. When you first arrive you can feel the genuine warmth of their hospitality. All topped off with a home made breakfast. We would highly recommend and we will be back.

Food was exceptional. Everything was so fresh and delicious. You can tell that John takes great pride in his property and genuinely cares that his guests feel welcome and comfortable. Would definitely stay again!!
Stunning period homestead just off route 50 close to route 2. The house is beautiful with amazing original features. We were made very welcome. We had a huge bedroom with sitting area off and tea & coffee station. We slept well in a very comfortable bed and enjoyed a fantastic cooked breakfast. Being an old house the rooms aren’t en-suite, warm dressing gowns are supplied to maintain modesty!

Very unique homestead. Well appointed throughout, loved the rich woodwork. John was a great personable host, and served up a great breakfast. Had a few glasses of wine on the porch with another guest couple in the rain. Could have stayed longer if we had the time.
Stunning interiors and great welcome by owners

Breakfast was enough and delicious for the traveling I was doing location was a good stop for where I was going
Because I travel alone I like to chat to other visitors but I managed to walk the grounds which was also a pleasure
This place is absolutely beautiful, a true labour of love with this historic homestead. Wonderful caring hosts and beautiful surroundings.
Beautiful historic house and surroundings. John was very friendly and helpful. Lovely cooked breakfast. Large, comfortable bed. Free standing aircon unit. No fuss WiFi. Easy, free parking.
