What a beautiful house. The sun streaming into the room was amazing.

Can’t really complain about it being on a hill. Or the shower that I didn’t want to get out of.

The room is located on the ground floor of the owners' Victorian villa in the small port town of Port Chalmers. The owner told us it is one of the oldest houses in the village. The room is tastefully decorated with the owner's own artwork, which is for sale.

The rooms have a high stud height, so required heating using two supplied portable electric heaters, which were a bit fiddly to adjust to maintain the room at a comfortable temperature. The room looks out to the front garden/ balcony, there is no view of the harbour.

Everything we could have wished for and more - we couldn’t fault anything. Spacious room and bathroom was lovely.

Beautiful building in a very interesting location. We used it as a stopping place but could have easily stayed longer. Short drive to Aramoana beach which is gorgeous. 20 mins from Dunedin but feels very peaceful. Lots of nice touches in the room. We paid extra for breakfast in the room and were glad we had.

This was a great stay. Kirsten was very helpful with communication prior to check in, and was there to meet us when we checked in. The room has everything you need and was squeaky clean. Great location and very quiet area but a quick drive to the city. Spacious bathroom and good value for money.

Everything was great.

We were offered a warm welcome from the owner, and given some reccomendations of places for dinner. The old house is lovely and our room had everything we required, with a beautiful big bathroom. Very close to some shops and cafes, plus the port. Out from the main centre of Dunedin, however more relaxed and less busy which we liked. We definetly reccomend this lovely accomadation.

There was nothing that we didnt like, Kirsten has thought of everything to help weary travellers relax after a day on the road or a long flight.

Washing up sink was the same sink as everyone cleans their teeth.

The room was beautifully furnished and spacious. A nice touch were the extras in the fridge.

As it’s called a B and B it would have been nice for breakfast to have been automatically included even if it means raising the price. You couldn’t easily fill the kettle or wash up in the sink.

Large room, well appointed. Very comfortable large bed. Hot shower in a large bathroom. Great location, some historic buildings and stunning views nearby. Carey Bay hotel for excellent seafood. Great cafe and other options in Port Chalmers.

Parking is available but limited so may not be able to park out front.

A kitchenette would make it perfect!

Prima kamer met eigen entree in groot oud huis in Port Chalmers zo’n 20 minuten rijden van Dunedin vandaan. Grote badkamer. Je kunt zelf thee/koffie zetten, microwave, koelkastje. Eigenaar was aardig.

Het vissersplaatsje vonden wij niet zo leuk. Er valt weinig te beleven. Weinig horeca etc.. je huurt echt een kamer maar geen B & B beleving.

Leuk huis met private ingang naar je kamer. Ruim. Goede douche en voorzien van alle faciliteiten.

Quiet, peaceful, beautifully styled and very comfortable.

Our room was a very calming and welcoming space. It had a private entrance, and an outside deck with a table and chairs. There is only one booking at a time so you are completely private. Our hosts were lovely, there to help with any request. Parking was in the road at the front or at the back of the house up a narrow driveway. The house is very close to town.

That we had our own access plus very spacious En-suite was lovely clean and again spacious. Bed was very comfy. Didn’t use any equipment apart from hairdryer.

Very well appointed, spacious, clean and very comfortable. Various creative art pieces were also on display. The location, while approximately 15 minutes from Dunedin, is an historic area in its own right and worth a visit. While not numerous the cafe and food options available are outstanding. There is also free and safe parking available.

Lovely host, great location where you can walk to town very easily and super clean! The bed was comfy and the room has so much character. We loved our overnight stay!

Artica is a truly distinctive lodging establishment. It offers a high level of comfort and spaciousness. The artwork displayed in the room was aesthetically pleasing.

Spacious, clean and welcoming room with everything available we needed.

It ticked most the boxes, cleanliness, comfort, extras like drinks and chocolates. It was only 200m from where we needed to spend time while we were there, excellent!

The only thing I can note is lack of TV channels, Sky or Netflix options.

For me it was a perfect location and environment in which to experience the character and personality of Port Chalmers

Sebastian was very friendly and welcoming. Room was warm and spacious with a large comfortable bed. We only stayed 1 night but would have stayed longer if we had the time. Location is close to local eating options.

Floor tiles in the bathroom were very cold. Location is a bit out of Dunedin so best if you have your own transport. As this is an older building, noises from movement in the house could be heard. TV stopped working but wasn't an issue for us.

There are no fans in the room. Couldn't open a window for some fresh air. Had dish washing soup but tap by the bathroom basin too low to wash the dishes.

It was very cosy! We really enjoyed the town and the host was lovely.

Meticulously clean, good communication, warm, large size of the room and bathroom. Bed was comfortable. Lovely towels and warm shower. The ease of coming & going through your own door.

Could do with more pillow choices and noise from 2nd floor footsteps disturbed sleep. Also it must've been a busy night with the trains. I am a sensitive sleeper, but they didn't bother my daughter.

I was staying one night in town with my 10 yr old daughter, I wanted somewhere cosy, comfortable, clean and preferably felt like a treat. This place was absolutely perfect- beautifully decorated, gorgeous villa, clean and comfortable and beautiful- I was so happy!

Port Chalmers is approximately 20 mins away from Dunedin which suited us. The property was spacious and charming with the best shower we have had on our trip. The breakfast was lovely and our host popped in to great us and answer our questions about dinner options.

While some crockery was available for self catering the dishes had to be done in the bathroom sink.

We love staying here. This beautiful Victorian home offers a great sized room for a stay with all the comforts you would need. The unique decor by the owner just adds to the experience, it's very tastefully done. We don't travel through Port Chalmers very often but would not consider staying anywhere else in the Dunedin area.

Could do with one or more pillows on bed to sit up for reading etc ( no biggy tho)
