Serendipity Hospedaje Boutique

The charm of this BNB, right on the lake, the kindness of its owner, sharing a lot of information with us and taking care of all our needs. The room definitely comfortable and the location not too far from the Peñol. The breakfast is one of the best we've had in Colombia!

A bit of a mix-up we the check out as we were asked to put our bags outside in case we were not being able to make it back before. Even though we did, the room was already cleaned which made it a bit uncomfortable to shower after the hike. The room was not spotlessly clean as well when we took it, but we were okay considering the location.

It was all perfect!

Access to the lake. There are kayaks you can use for free. We got free upgrade to a bigger room.

The private road to the property is long and is in really bad condition, all broken and huge potholes. If you have a rental car, you have to be very careful. The breakfast is not upto standards. Wouldn't fill an adult. 2 eggs scrambled, one arepa/toast, tiny bowl of fruits, juice and coffee.

Tolle Aktivitäten, u.a.

Serendipity feels like a home because the host is so welcoming, the bed so comfy, and the landscaping full of beauty. Situated in a quiet cove on the lake, it’s a wonderful location to relax in the area. It’s also easy to get a ride into Guatape or to climb the rock. Breakfast is included, homemade and delicious! Dine with a view of the lake and the rock as a bonus.

There is nothing to dislike - the place is perfection.

Great place to relax, hosted by a nice couple who really care. Walking distance to Penol (rock).

A bit remote, if you travel with heavy luggage ask the host to organize pick up.

Wonderful location on the lake side. Very nice breakfast on the terras overviewing the lake. Friendly host. Tuktuk to town , no problem.

Nothing

Our host was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and we enjoyed staying in his beautiful home. Breakfast was excellent, and the property was a great place to stay and enjoy the Guatapé area.

Directions for arriving to the property could have been a little more clear. It's down a steep and bumpy road, make sure to load your directions before departing.

Their special eggs and arepas with cheese were delicious! They also had fresh fruit salad with grated limon that everyone devoured. The location feels remote and secluded. We all felt well rested after our 2 night stay.

One of our rooms had trouble with hot water (the room closest to the water). We didn’t bother the host with a resolution since we had another room rented that had no issues. The first night in town, we had a bit of trouble finding a Tuk Tuk driver to take us back to the property, but the second day we had no problem!

Guillermo and his wife Sonia were very welcoming and helped us find great food, and Guillermo even gave us a lift to 'la piedra' when the tuk-tuks were all busy. We stayed in a beautiful, comfortable room with an amazing view. The breakfast was also delicious! Thanks again for the warm welcome.

It is about 5-10 minutes in Tuk tuk from the center of the city (where food for lunch and supper is), but the place is absolutely beautiful and the hosts are incredibly welcoming.

Top!

The welcoming was so nice, Guillermo and Sonia were super sweet, we felt like home ! The room and the views are truly beautiful, it was a little paradise. We took the magic Suite and had a great breakfast. You will love it 100% 🥰

Rien.

Astonishingly beautiful little b-n-b just outside the main town (though only a 10-min ride into the center). Guillermo was a gracious, knowledgeable, and welcoming host, who did everything from give me tips to share stories to help me find my phone when I left it in a tuk tuk. The rooms are comfortable and quiet with gorgeous views, and the breakfast on the terrace cannot be beat (tip: take the house special). My only regret is that I was only here one night. You can definitely do Guatapé in a day, but this place is worth extending your stay a little bit, especially if—like me—it comes in the middle of a longer trip.

What a beautiful place. Guillermo is an amazing host, couldn’t have been more helpful. Breakfast consisted of produce from the garden and it was delicious. Very comfy room - perfect all round. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Beautiful peaceful location. Beautiful grounds. Hot tub a wonderful way to end the day and the view from room was fantastic. Great breakfast and host

It was a little hard to find.

Beautiful and serene. Wonderful host who was very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was awesome! Highly recommend the hot chocolate, arepas and his wife’s scrambled eggs.

The staff is very welcoming, the location is outstanding and the breakfast is great. It works like a real b&b, you are their guest not their client and you can definitely feel it.

The property is stunning. Lots of levels and right beside the lake. The room was beautiful and comfortable but the real highlight is the hospitality of Guillermo and his wife, who took exceptional care of us. They provided us with a great breakfast and transportation options with Tuk Tuks and private taxis. It feels like we gained a friend in Colombia through this stay and can’t wait to revisit. Bonus, the property is very close to the El Penol rock.

Nothing, everything was great.

Beautiful estate; our boys had a lot of fun playing cards into the evening in the gazebo overlooking the water, in fact one even fell asleep in the hammock. The owner was amazing- he helped me mend my wife’s luggage that broke- well beyond any typical hotel stay. I’d highly recommend Serendipity, its location was great and it was easy to take tuc tuc’s in to town. 10/10

Nothing

Beautiful and relaxing. We loved our stay!

Everything about Serendipity is a paradise from the location to the breakfast to the hosts. We loved the amazing views, the close proximity to Guatapé, and the special attention from the hosts to help us find a fishing expedition.

It is hard to find negatives because everything is so nice! There are only a few parking spots which, because of the driveway, are a little difficult to navigate. We never had any problems but if you have a very large vehicle, it may be tight.

We loved first and foremost the hospitality of Guillermo and his lovely wife, who made us feel like beloved family! We also loved the beautiful location and the delicious breakfast!

We loved everything!

The breakfast was excellent. We liked the location and house setting.

the place is beautiful, and the owner very helpful very recommended for family, breakfast was outstanding

The property is beautiful, with lots of lush greenery and nature. I loved hearing all the birds and wildlife throughout the day.

It is quite far from everything, and you need to take a tuktuk everywhere, but I didn’t mind. I liked the quiet.

It was very unexpected to have breakfast with 'El Peñón de Guatapé' in the background! A wonderful host and what a location.

Amazing host! Guilhermo made us feel at home athis beautiful haven in nature. And breakfast was quite memorable! (Still missing the hot choco)

Guillermo and his wife are very nice hosts, they have a lot of good advice and tips on all kinds of traveling questions.

Everything was just perfect ! We loved it and will come back asap ! The owners are amazing ! Un abrazo !

We had an amazing time at Serendipity. Guillermo made sure we had everything we needed and made us feel like we were home. The room was clean and spacious. We took advantage of the kayak and all of the amentities It’s a very special place and I would recommand anyone passing by Guatape staying at least one night.

Everything, hosts are lovely, room was great. Location and views are beautiful

Would be nice to have drinking water that isn’t in plastic bottles

So many things to enjoy: - Guillermo is extremely communicative, responsive, and will arrange anything you need! - Guillermo and his wife prepare a fresh breakfast for you every morning, simply the best. - Wifi is strong and capable for remote workers, mesh router in your room. - Guest common outdoor space with full kitchen, music, etc. - Free kayaks. - Location is just out of town, and away from traffic, just a short tuktuk ride away.

Everything is literally perfect.

I loved Guillermo's hospitality (the owner). He made us feel exceptionally welcome, was flexible with our check-in time, and made sure to keep us comfortable every step of the experience. The breakfast was full and amazing. The environment was very peaceful and romantic. Kayaking on the lake was free/included with our stay and was a great closer to our check-out experience. Great service and value for the price.

The hotel was a really beautiful get away from the buzz of Colombia’s big cities. We really enjoyed our stay and are sad to leave. The owners made us feel very welcome from the start and were really accomodating to make our stay as pleasant as possible! We also loved the kayakking in this beautiful environment. Would book again!

Simply nothing. It was great!

Lovely house. Cozy and comfortable. There’s kayaks, hammocks, and a nice garden. Very nice hosts who explained about Guatape and the things to do there. Good breakfast. Overall a very pleasant stay

No restaurant in the facilities. But easy access to food delivery

This location was amazing. Very accommodating staff. The owner was a blessing to us he and his staff made us feel at home. Comfortable, safe, clean, and peaceful. The view is incredible, not just the lake view but also to the Quatape El Peñol rock.. Able to do a little bit of everything to each person's liking. Wish I could have stayed longer, definitely coming back.

Clean quiet place. Owner and staff attentive to all your needs.

Zero

- Very friendly owner - great local breakfast - close to la piedra del peñol - Tuk Tuk service during the day through the owner ( 15‘000cop la piedra) (around 20‘000cop to the town) - view is great from the room - free access to the water activities - we would stay there again

- all great

Breakfast is delicious. Coffee, hot chocolate, juice, fruits, eggs, toast, jam... All the details to have a perfect meal, not to mention the view, which is breathtaking! Their garden is so beautiful, they really paid attention to all the details.

Absolutely beautiful property. The rooms were very comfortable and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. It is steps from the water. I spent a lot of time reading outside.

You couldn't ask for a more tranquil spot. We were able to sleep with the door slightly open and only heard sounds of nature. The property is beautiful, right on the water with kayaks and paddle boards free to use - and it's located on a very calm part of the water, like a small alcove. There are only five rooms in the property so guest noise is super minimal. There's also a nice hot tub. The hosts are very accommodating and it's easy to get into town via tuk tuk - about 10-15 minutes and 15,000 pesos there and around 20-25,000 pesos back. The room where we stayed didn't have much ventilation without the door open, but they gave us a fan that totally solved the problem.

We had a little difficulty with breakfast not starting until 8am because we're with little kids that wake up 2 hours earlier due to their school schedule. Probably not an issue for many travelers but just noting for those with littles, maybe bring a snack for those early wakeups.

Our stay was wonderful! Our room was very comfortable and had a great view. The host Guillermo is amazing and speaks great English. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious and we enjoyed the lake with kayaks and paddleboards! We'd love to come back if we're ever in the area again.

Great host, free kayaks and wonderful jacuzzi. Breakfast truly 10/10

we had the honor to stay in the new “cottage”. beautiful terrace, king size bed.

House is located in marvellous place. It's quiet, beautiful and very unique. I highly recomend it :)

The hosts are fantastic, always ready to help and offer great recommendations. The breakfast is lovely and the environment and view are gorgeous!

It is a beautiful location! The host is very friendly and welcoming into his home, including a home-cooked breakfast by his wife. It is outside of town but only about a 15 minute tuktuk ride to get to Guatape. Truly a place to chill and relax.

It was exactly what we hoped for based on the description and location. That being said, walking to the rock or town would be an unpleasant experience. The main road has no shoulder so be prepared to get a tuktuk whenever you want to go somewhere. Also, while we had access to kayaks, due to safety concerns we were limited to the small bay on which the house sits. Great for casual excursions but very small if you are used to being on the water.

The view is amazing. The attention was great. The breakfast included really good local products.

We absolutely loved our stay and enjoyed every moment. Our host Sonia was incredibly accommodating and prepared a lovely breakfast for us in the morning. The cat that is on the property really made my stay with his playful attitude and friendly character. The room had a gorgeous view and the hostel was tucked away far enough from noisy roads or traffic. The rock was easy to get to but I will heed some advice and tell you that you should go EARLY and have Sonia call you a tuk tuk to get there before the crowds. I did not care for Guatape that much because it was just too touristy for my liking but THIS place in particular is going to be a must for me to return to. Very romantic spot that made my bf and I feel like we were on a honeymoon. The name really does do it justice.

No complaints! Best place we stayed at in Colombia

An amazing hotel with an amazing owner/host, they are super friendly and super helpful, got us moto taxis whenever we needed, rung ahead for restaurants, gave us recommendations and let us use there kayaks for free to paddle around the waterways. The hotel is in an amazing location and so peacful

nothing, it was perfect

It’s a really nice and quiet place on the lake side, perfect for spending a couple of days and relax. We got help with everything we needed: transportation (local and to airport), recommendations, kayak. We extended our stay because we liked it there very much.

Great breakfast. Excellent location! Mr. Guillermo and his wife are amazing hosts.

The owner spoke perfect English, was really welcoming and kind. He gave us good recommendations and even that we stayed there for only 1 night it immediately felt like home.

What a great place to relax and clear your mind. The view is beyond increíble hosts are so kind. 100% recommended.

Hosts were amazing and made our stay comfortable and special! Location is perfect 😍 right near the water, Jacuzzi and kayaks! Great recommendations on restaurants in town! We would love to go again one day

No hot water in shower :(

Amazing place to stay! The location is beautiful and Don Guillermo and his wife are the best hosts we found in Colombia :) attention is perfect and breakfast is delicious

Utter perfection. It feels like the early days of Airbnb, where they welcome you into their home and treat you like family, except this also happens to be a gorgeous house on the banks of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

Nothing at all!
