Villa Effort

Really enjoyed our stay at Villa Effort. It’s a lovely place for the price, with a peaceful atmosphere and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms were clean, the property was well maintained, and the location was convenient for exploring the area. The staff were also friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, great value for money and a good option if you’re looking for a comfortable, affordable stay in Ahangama. Would definitely recommend!

Cleanness, space.

Clean and spacious room with comfortable bed, great shower, aircon, beautiful garden area with view of monkeys next door, and a great shared space (lounge, dining area, clean big kitchen). The property manager is so helpful and kind. The toaster was not working on day 1, so a new toaster was bought by our day 2. There is a washing machine to use for free and the property manager even helped by hanging up our washing for us while we were out. One note- you will need to drive to accom from beach/main ahanghama area so your own transport would be helpful.

I had such a wonderful stay here - it truly felt like a home away from home. I originally planned to stay for 3 weeks, but ended up staying for almost a month and a half, which says everything about how special this place is. Kamal, the owner, is amazing, and Danuka, who takes care of the house, is simply incredible - like a walking sunshine :) always kind, helpful, and there whenever you need anything, he really made my stay even more memorable. The house itself has everything you could wish for: filtered water, complimentary laundry service (which is such a rare and thoughtful touch!), and every now and then, Danuka would even prepare fresh juice for us. The house also has a great shared space with large tables and a couch, making it easy to work from there, along with a fully equipped kitchen. The location is perfect - just a 5-minute walk to the beach, with restaurants, shops, and everything you might need close by. Out of all the places I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka, this is by far the best one. I’m truly grateful to everyone in this house for making my time there so special, and I sincerely hope I’ll have the chance to come back one day.

We were delighted to spend two stays at Villa Effort at different times of the year. We particularly appreciated the quality of the services offered: spacious and comfortable rooms, a kitchen and dining room available for our use, a washing machine, and scooter rentals on site. We appreciated Kamal's kindness; he was able to answer all our questions. A special mention goes to Danuka, whose presence and discretion made us feel right at home. We hope to return to the Villa as soon as possible.

Very clean property & super friendly manager. The ability to do laundry was so handy too. Highly recommend!

Great location! Close to ocean but can not hear the train.

If there are kids next room than you will hear them. But if you are not a long sleeper and go to surf or excursion than no problem.

Gutes Bett, gute Lage da es zum Strand zu Fuß 10 Minuten sind. Sehr komfortables Zimmer, Klo und Dusche waren im Zimmer jeweils in einem extra Raum, fanden wir sehr gut. Es war sehr sauber und die terasse war sehr schön. Kleines Manko: es ist etwas hellhörig wenn sich andere im Flur aufhalten, aber war in Ordnung. Pluspunkt ist auch, dass man kostenlos die Waschmaschine benutzen durfte.

Effort villa was a great discovery for me. The moment you enter there you feel home. The atmosphere, the hospitality and beautiful garden welcomes you. It has very spacious rooms which are very clean and tidy and opens to backyard balcony/ patios one side and a large living room onto another. Villa has a nice kitchen, which is very well stuffed with ingredients and all the cutlery, where one can cook for self. It has laundry machines which you can use and enough drying place in the backyard. The villa owner Mr.Kamal was great a host who took care of me like his personal guest, he entertained for dinner too. He is a really helpful person who looks beyond business. He goes out of his way to help guests. And last but not least , the caretaker there, Mr Dhanuka was great help in everything, cooking, washing clothes or getting things. He is very humble and always ready to help. I booked for 2 days, but I ended up staying 6 days in Villa. It's really worth the money. Next visit to Srilanka will include my stay here. Thank you Mr. Kamal and Dhanuka you really made my stay a great pleasure.

Probably one of my favorite stays in ahangama for this price! It’s very quiete even though it’s so close to the main road. The staff working there was extremely helpful and friendly. As a woman travelling on my own I felt super safe. The kitchen has so many amenities. Would always come again!!

Das Einzelzimmer wurde nachträglich oben drauf gesetzt. Die Treppe dorthin ist sehr steil und die Stufen sehr schmal. Nicht für jeden geeignet.

Nice rooms, friendly staff, possibility of renting a scooter directly at the accommodation. The boss arranged a transfer to the airport for us at a good price. The beach in town is nice and good for surfers. Good restaurant nearby.

Clean, quiet, comfortable bed and pillow, shower had good pressure and warm water, there was filtered water available.

A little distance to the city (but off the mainroad and therefore quiet). Hosts lived elsewhere and communication therefore mainly by text. Breakfast served 45 minutes later than arranged. Bed was very creaky (though comfortable!)

Everything was perfect. The host upgraded us and we stayed in a very big bedroom with a balcony. The amenities are excellent, two big kitchens, a washing machine. Super clean, one of the best accommodation we stayed in in Sri Lanka.

We loved our stay at Villa Effort. Everybody was so nice, breakfast and dinner was amazing amd the room was awesome. Everything was really clean, there was a nice balcony and also a kitchen to use. We extended our stay because we liked it so much and we would recommend staying here!

I initially booked only two days but ended up extending my stay to a full week – and for good reason! The location is perfect, the accommodation provides everything you need, and the service is excellent. A special shoutout to Kamal, who is incredibly hospitable and always ready to help with anything. One of the highlights for me was finally having a comfortable bed – a real game-changer! Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would book again anytime. Highly recommended!

The location was really good, just a few minutes to Kabalana beach, also a few nice and tasty restaurants nearby, but still really calm, the house did not get much noise from the streets or train, which is not that obvious in Ahangama. We were positively surprised by the rooms, everything was really clean, the bed was super comfortable and big, the room was cleaned each 3/4 nights, which was also great. The place offers free laundry services, as well as filtered water, which is a real game changer, it is eco friendly but also you don't have to buy water - just have a bottle and fill whenever you need. The breakfasts was very tasty, the portions were more than enough and we could taste also the Sri Lankan traditional dishes. There is also a fridge if you need, so you can store anything you buy outside. The host Kamal is really helpful as well as all the other people working here, he supported us with organizing the trips to Safari Yala and Ella, there is also an option to rent scooter. The wi-fi was good and reliable, we were working remotely and we did not meet any issues with the connection. AC works perfect, however it is a bit noisy. Kamal and the team helped us with anything we faced, we felt like at home and we really recommend the stay!

Great place, totally recommend! We got all we needed, and more. Great aspect with the free filtered water, not seen in other places, the room was spacious, the AC was working very well, the bed was comfy, we were working remotely and the wi-fi was also reliable.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Villa Effort! One of the standout features is their free filtered water with RO system, which saves both money and the hassle of buying bottled water – such a thoughtful and sustainable touch. They also offer free laundry, which was a fantastic convenience during our trip. 24/7 Tea and coffee WiFi systems with power back up The kitchen is well-equipped and inviting, perfect for cooking at home, or you can even have someone cook for you – such a treat! I also had an emergency and needed to visit the hospital, and their support was incredible. They instantly advised where to go, organized a taxi, arranged the appointment, and helped us navigate through the hospital – we felt so cared for during a stressful time. As a bonus, since we were already in Galle, they arranged a short sightseeing tour through the city, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The team working here is super kind, helpful, and attentive. The villa is very clean, with good AC, and the location is super close to the city center, making it very convenient. We’re so grateful for their hospitality and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

Kamal is an exceptional host—kind, always helpful, and ready to find a solution for everything. Our room was cozy, equipped with both AC and a fan, and had a lovely balcony to relax on. The breakfasts were a highlight, offering delicious and unique Sri Lankan dishes every day. We initially planned to stay for 3 days but ended up staying for 16 because we felt so comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommended!

This was one of the best and most accomodating guest houses I have stayed in months in Sri Lanka, the host Kamal was fantastic and I would highly recommend this guest house for great value and a very comfortable stay in Ahangama
