El dueño fue encantador, súper atento, agradable, nos invitó a bebidas al llegar, nos hizo desayuno y nos explicó cómo visitar el templo y un poco la historia. 100% recomendable. La situación del hotel para llegar al templo, inmejorable.

The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival, we were treated to fresh fruit juice, and they even prepared a thoughtful, comforting dinner for us when we were not feeling well. Although we chose a room without air conditioning, the ceiling fan was more than enough to stay comfortable. To top it off, there are two friendly and clever dogs that made our stay even more special. Highly recommended!

Notre hôte est vraiment bienveillant sans être intrusif, le rapport est très confortable. Il propose de l’eau filtrée (sans goût) et fraîche sans frais ! Il connaît bien l’environnement et fourni de chouettes indications ! Le petit déjeuné est copieux est très bon ! On peut aller à pied sur les sites, les distances sont courtes ! Il y a des terrasses communes en haut et en bas, un joli jardin plein de fleur, c’est vraiment charmant.

La porte de ma chambre ne fermait pas de l’intérieur, mais cela sera sans doute réparé.

It's a small hotel

Our stay at Rock Villa Relax City Resort was really great.Kapila was a wonderful guide, sharing many local history stories and helpful advice for visiting the many archaeological attractions at Mihintale. A quiet, comfortable villa, located close to transport and local restaurant's. Breakfast at Rock Villa was superb, very generous Sri Lankan snacks and a delicious array of fresh local fruits. Sehr netter Gastgeber. Wir haben ganz viele Infos zu Mihintale bekommen, inklusive einer Karte mit allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Frühstück war sehr gut und umfangreich. Der Balkon war sehr schön. Das Zimmer war einfach, aber ausreichend. Im Bad müssten ein paar Kleinigkeiten repariert werden, Wasserhahn und Toilette sind nicht festgeschraubt, Badezimmertür konnte nicht geschlossen werden. Aber dennoch Preis-Leistung absolut top.

De gastvrijheid van de eigenaar was hartverwarmend. Hij ontving ons met een heerlijk glas lime juice en koekjes en in het gesprek dat volgde kwamen we al snel op het punt dat hij ons wel mee naar Anuradhapura wilde nemen om ons daar rond te leiden. Hij weet alles over de geschiedenis van Sri Lanka en het boeddhisme en de dag was voor ons dus zeer leerzaam. We zouden de dag erna zelf door Mihintale wandelen, maar uiteindelijk werden we ook daar door hem rondgereden en rondgeleid. Ook hier kwamen we op plekken die we anders nooit bezocht zouden hebben. Heel erg dankbaar voor de tijd en moeite die in ons gestoken werd. De kamer is simpel, maar de prijs is laag en de huiselijke sfeer van deze homestay (rond 16u kwam de eigenaar ons dagelijks een pot thee met iets lekkers brengen) maakte ons verblijf zeer bijzonder.

Beim Gastgeber Kapila und seiner Familie merkt man deutlich, dass einige Erfahrungen mit europäischen Gästen vorhanden sind. Die Zimmer sind okay und sauber. Es gibt kostenlos, frisch gefilterte Wasser und einen schönen Gemeinschafts -Bereich. Das Essen schmeckt lecker. Ganz besonders hervorzuheben ist der wunderschöne Garten und das Steinwald-Areal hinter dem Haus, wo unsere Kinder mit einer Zwille spielen durften. Weiterhin hervorzuheben ist die positive Kommunikation und die Flexibilität der Gastgeber. Kapila selbst veranstaltet auf Home Niveauführungen in Anuradhapura und Mihintale.

The hotel is a short walk from the ruins/temple. Kapila was very accommodating. He had the opportunity to give me a bigger room, due to cancellation, this was appreciated. There was a big effort made for my breakfast, so much choice! He was also happy to explain the ruin site, and even had a hand drawn map to share with me. He even went out of town to get me a beer, as they don't really sell it in Mihintale. Thanks Kapila!

Like most Homestays, it's a little tired, but that's ok. It was clean and comfortable.

Nice place with good rooms at an unbeatable price. The owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable about the place, he made me feel like at home and even gave me some fresh limes as a gift, besides offering a welcome drink. I really recommend this place.

Extrem herzliche und liebevolle familiengeführte Unterkunft. Der Host weiß viel über die Umgebung und Kultur und konnte uns viel erklären. Zudem war die Gastfreundschaft und Herzlichkeit vor Ort einzigartig. Der Chef führt die Unterkunft mit Leidenschaft und ist jederzeit verfügbar. Man fühlt sich wie Zuhause. Ein Pluspunkt sind die Affenfamilien, die man vom Balkon aus beobachten kann. Das Frühstück war üppig und abwechslungsreich. Eine tolle Unterkunft zum Entspannen. Uns hat es so gut gefallen, dass wir sogar eine Nacht verlängert haben. Wir hatten das Doppelzimmer mit Balkon und waren sehr zufrieden hinsichtlich Ausstattung und Sauberkeit. Definitiv eine Empfehlung!

Wenn man einen profunden Guide sucht, der viel über die Geschichte Mihintales erzählen kann, dann ist man hier bestens aufgehoben. Wir konnten einige Sehenswürdigkeiten unter seiner fachkundigen Begleitung in aller Ruhe besuchen. Sein Haus bietet ein identisches Ambiente mit schönem Umfeld in guter, zentrumnaher Lage in Mihintale. Auch das angebotene Frühstück sowie das Abendessen ist lecker und ausgiebig. The owner, Kapila, he will make your stay unforgettable. He is one of the most friendly and positive persons I've ever met. He is a real gentleman who is proud to show you around. He took us around Mihintale and showed us the cultural en culinair hotspots. It was a great experience. Best value to money thus far. I would definitely recommend.

Kapila il proprietario di casa è una persona squisita! Ha soddisfatto tutte le mie richieste ed è stato disponibile in molte cose. Le sue informazioni su Mihintale sono state preziose. Ci sono tornata ben 3 volte perché mi sono sentita veramente a casa. Buonissima cena fatta in casa. Consiglio di soggiornare in questo posto semplice ma accogliente e tranquillo.

Very well maintained house in a beutiful garden. Kapilarathna is a wonderful host who offers professional services and was very helpful in arranging transportation for us. He also knows a lot about the area. His wife is a great cook - the breakfasts and dinners were lovely.

Nous étions de passage à mihintale pour visiter le fameux Temple de mihintale. C'est avec surprise que nous avons découvert ce petit home stay. Chambre et lit nickel. Le grand plus de cet endroit est l' énergie que porte le propriétaire, d' une extrême gentillesse, petite boisson de welcome, puis nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir profiter du repas cuisine par la femme de notre hote, sans avoir à retourner en ville. Le petit déjeuner a été un délice... la grande table familiale permet de beau échange avec les autres invités... Bref un sans faute.. pour finir l'hôte parle français, en plus de l anglais, et grâce à son de expérience de guide, connait le pays comme sa poche. Allez-y les yeux fermés et profitez bien !

Le propriétaire qui parle français et anglais m'a emmenée jusqu'à l'arrêt de bus en tuk tuk 😍. Excellent rapport qualité-prix. Le petit-déjeuner est copieux. De nombreux conseils pour les visites. Je recommande.

Padrone di casa davvero molto accogliente, gentile, disponibile. Colazione buona e fresca, tipica seppur venendo incontro ai nostri gusti. Terrazzi che danno sugli alberi attorno magnifici. Tutto abbastanza pulito.

Bagno non perfettamente pulito e doccia di non facile utilizzo (a meno che non ci si arrenda al provocare un'inondazione in tutta la stanza; come d'altronde è comune in quasi tutto lo Sti Lanka).

Rock Villa is in a superb location, walking distance to the temple, shops, and restaurants. Everything was perfect. Very clean rooms, bedding and towels. Hot water shower. We are travelling by bicycle, and these were securely locked in the garden. Our host provided us with water melon and a cold drink when we arrived and filtered water for our onward travel. He was also very informative of the local history.

The only disappointment was that there was no food service available.

The host (Kapila) and the other people are super friendly and helpful. We felt really welcome. We were travelling with our baby and there was a nice baby cot in the room. Breakfast and dinner was very delicious and we also go treated with fresh lime-sodas and cookies. Also for our baby they prepared nice babyfood. Kapila took us to some interesting sites in Mihintale and gave us a lot of information about the history. He is a great storyteller! I would really recommend everyone to stay here.

It was our best accommodation in 4 weeks in Sri Lanka! We stayed in a separated little cottage, was very clean, comfortable bed and pillows, it's situated upon the little rock,so you feel the air, and it was not humid, nice garden and absolutely delicious breakfast ( you can order what you wish) and evening meals at a cosy terrace!! And of course wonderful friendly personal, very helpful and sweet! Also important for travellers- free of charge water bottles and !! making your laundry!! Super recommended!!! PS : you can rent the bikes to go to the temples and around the lakes,with we did and liked it so much!

I loved this place! From the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed. The owner was incredibly friendly, answered all my questions, and even offered me a welcome tea. The room and bike rental were very reasonably priced. My room was clean and comfortable, and I was even allowed to use the washing machine for free.

The guest house has different room options and is easy walking distance to the local historic sites and the town area. The best thing about this guest house is the family that run it! They are very very welcoming and so incredibly helpful plus they cook you amazing food, have free water available where happy to store so foods we had brought with us. Kapila has great knowledge of all the area and is very informative. Their care for guest is immense and greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. We would give you 30 stars if we could!

The downstairs room had a strange smell, and the big 3 bedroom room needs light blocking curtains.

The owner could not be nicer. He welcomed us with tea and pastries. Heloed us plan our visits and commute. They lend us a vouole of umbrellas that saved our lives. There was hot water in the shower. Big beds.

We absolutely loved staying at Rock Villa and would urge fellow travellers to add Mihintale to their itinerary! Kapila is one of the most welcoming, friendly, generous and knowledgeable hosts we’ve ever met and he made our short stay very special. The highlight was our tour with him of the ancient sites of Mihintale. The night before, Kapila gave us an overview of the history of the area and explained the itinerary. He is such an engaging and enthusiastic storyteller that we enjoyed every minute of our tour. We understand so much more about Buddhism now and it set us up so well for more sightseeing in Anuradhapura. Mihintale is a gem of a place not just because of its history - we spotted so many rare birds in Kapila’s beautiful garden and enjoyed watching both grey langurs and toque macaques roam the ancient sites. Both breakfast and dinner at the villa were most amazing - full of Sri Lankan specialities and very filling. We had a little cottage without aircon - the fan was more than sufficient and both the room and the bathroom were spotless. The guesthouse is a 5 minute walk from Mihintale bus station. We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy a sunset from Mihintale Rock!

The host was amazing. Told us where to go, made us delicious food and overall took great care of us. When we were leaving he ordered us seats in the bus and took us to the station. His villa was really nice and the room was clean and comfortable.

It is run with one pf the most kind and generous person we have met so far. The rooms are spacious, there are option with AC and the area is amazing. Kapila and his wife prepare the food - amazing breakfast full of fruits and pancakes and dinners woth rice and curry or hoppers. Kapila is also a guide and he took us to Anuradhapura, he passionately talked about his culture, buddhism and history, which made us to know more and more. He treated us with such a good manner and always wanted to make us happy. You can also borrow bikes or learn to play their boardgame. Overall, we loved this stay, it was a beautiful experience and we will always remember this one. It was special.

Walking distance from the city, quiet villa with a nice garden! Great host! He welcomed me very politely with coffee and fruits and told me a bit about the story of Mihintale. Made sure everything was of my liking and left me my space. The room was huge and very clean, the bed was very comfortable. I also had a chance to rent anice bike at the property for a fair price, to visit the temple and the city. Kapila also gave me some extra suggestions on what to visit there. You can tell they honestly want you to have a good experience without trying to sell some extra tour if you are not interested.

Beautiful house and very clean appartements. We really enjoyed the history and beautiful nature of mihintale, helped by tipps from our host. Sadly had to continue or journey would have definetly stayed longer

3 days in Rock Villa. great advice , great meal very hearty and perfectly prepared. Kapila knows the surroundings perfectly he will give you a great guided tour with his tuk-tuk where you will understand absolutely everything about Minithale and Anuradhapura. He knows how to put you in confidence and help you on your journeys. It's memories full of our heads that we left. We recommend this guest house with your eyes closed.

The property was walkable distance in less than 10 min! I traveled with my mom so it was very easy to her. The host is awesome and very kind . he helps me out with his tuk tuk. Staff were very friendly and helpful! Its face to beautiful view from it! Definitely will go back!

We only stayed for one night but felt very welcomed and the room was excellent. The host was always making sure that we had everything and even helped us when our tuktuk didn‘t start! Breakfast was also very good and he made sure that we had enough!

We LOVED our stay here! The family was so incredibly kind and the typical Sri Lankan food they made for us (dinner and breakfast) was delicious. The Mihintale Rock actually surprised us with the beautiful view, definitely a must visit if you ask us. Hope to return one day, Thom and Lars.

The host is a most warmhearted and welcoming person. He also has helpful tips for excursions to nearby sights or places to eat out. The most important historic places are within walking distance. I got a delicious breakfast at a fair price. Despite the affordable rate this place is at the same level as much more expensive ones. There are non AC and AC rooms available.

Everything was perfect.

Such a warm welcome at rock villa relax! We came by bus from wilpattu area and it was very easy to find from the busstop in mihintale. The owner welcomed us happily with a fresh Juice and some fruit, wich was very welcome after the busdrive. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower nice. Both warm and cold water possibility We stayed for two days. On our first day we strolled around mihintale and sat for a While at the old stupa to spend some time in between the monkeys. The next day we had breakfast with enough food for two days!! Haha! They were very willing to make us something special and after we took a half day trip to anuradhapura with the owner of Rock Villa, who's also a very good guide! The other half of the day we walked up to the ancient pont and climmed the Mountain with old cave to see the sunset. Both very nice to see and experience. We walked back to rock villa where a loveley Rice and curry was served, again enough food and very nice! We are happy we spend our nights at rock villa, with very good service and also in mihintale in stead of the busy anuradhapura. We recommend this place!
