Casa Mava

Casa Mava was a beautiful property in a great area of PE. The facility was spotless, quiet and the owners were so warm and inviting. You can tell they truly care about this place and their guests. The bed and linens were so comfortable, they did not miss the mark on making this a perfect stay. It felt like home. One block to the beach-each casita has beach chairs and an umbrella for use. An added bonus is having a scooter, 4wheeler or motorcycle delivered to the hotel so you can explore the area while you stay, it was completely hassle free. If we return to PE we will absolutely stay here again.

There is not one thing we didn’t like about the property.

Casa Mava was so beautiful and the staff and service were amazing! The villa we had was beautiful and spacious and had AC to help with the heat. We also used the pool which was lovely and the breakfast at Xoco was amazing. Location is good (10-15min to the bar strip and easy to get cabs to the swim/surf beaches). Both Luis and Daniel were amazing!!!

The hotel is very well located equidistant to each of La Punta and Zicatel. We particularly likes that the section of the beach closest to the hotel was very quiet. The facilities were good, the hotel provided helpful recommendations and contacts in Puerto as well as chairs and an umbrella for the beach which were much appreciated. Pool area was nice. Communication was good.

The only negative was finding a cockroach on one of our pillows one day. We stress that the hotel otherwise is extremely clean so we do think this is a one off and could have crawled in through a crack in the door. There is also nowhere to put suitcases in the room.

I stayed at Casa Mava with 3 friends. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment. We had a great experience at the property. The staff was extremely accommodating, very helpful, and very friendly. We also visited the associated cafe next door and found the staff there great as well. The property and apartment was beautiful and well appointed with everything we needed. They thoroughly cleaned everyday although you could opt out if you did not need your room cleaned. We got lots of use out of our private plunge pool as well as the rooftop pool and lounge area. Beds and pillows were quite comfortable. The location was great as well. We were able to easily walk to La Punta and Zicatela and the beach was only 2 blocks away. I would return to the property and would highly recommend it to others.

My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights for our honeymoon and we had high hopes based off of reading other reviews, but Casa Mava truly exceeded our expectations. We did not want to leave. Everything was incredible and it's clear that this place is a labour of love. Even before we arrived, the staff all went above and beyond; sending recommendations on WhatsApp (which were great - local knowledge is always best!). Everyone was so helpful, friendly and they left some really thoughtful touches in the room for our honeymoon. We stayed in the villa with a private pool and having our own pool to go for a dip and to cool down in was so great. Honestly, it was a haven to come back to the villa after exploring in the heat. The villa itself was very spacious, especially compared to a lot of the other hotels we were looking into. It had a large and comfy bed, balcony, full kitchen, and the amenities were so thoughtful (local coffee, beach chairs and a beach umbrella, and filtered water jugs) - all very appreciated. The rooftop pool was also lovely for when we were looking to soak up the sun. Excellent location - steps from the beach, quiet, and a close walk to all of the shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel recently opened up a restaurant next door which is convenient for morning coffee/juices and breakfast. If we come back to Puerto Escondido, which I hope we do, we'd 100% stay here again. I can't recommend it enough to others! We loved our time here at Casa Mava.

Un hotel increíble, muy pronto tendrá servicio de restaurante, pasamos 4 días en este hotel y desde antes de llegar te hacen llegar información para que puedas llegar sin problemas al hotel, llegamos muy temprano antes de nuestro check in pero nos guardaron el equipaje y nos dejaron cambiar ahí, la ubicación esta increíble esta entre la punta y zicatela, la habitación estaba muy padre con alberca propia, camastro, cocineta que la verdad no usamos pero siempre nos dejaban para hacer cafe, una cama enorme y regadera separada del baño, nuestra habitación también contaba con una terraza en la habitacion. Sin duda volveríamos a reservar en este bello hotel.

Really helpful Fernando and team. Great location with some amazing places to eat not too far away. Lots of great recommendations provided - all were great. Pool on roof is great - not huge but perfect for cooling down. Rooms well thought out too.

This was my second time staying at Casa Mava and I would go back in a heartbeat! The staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. The rooms were always extremely clean, and we loved spending our afternoons relaxing by the pool.

The propery is exactly like the pictures. We stayed in the room with the small private pool and it was awesome. The rooftop pool is also great. The location for us was perfect. It's walking distance from the beach and about a 10 min walk from La Punta. The staff were amazing and their list of contacts and recommendations was exactly what we needed. I actually loved the small gym they have. Everything was perfect!

What an amazing find! We were greeted by Daniel how speaks little English but was so lovely and used a translator, that lac of English didn’t bother us at all. We were then met by Fernando absolutely lovely man who showed us around the hotel and the room as well as gave us plenty of recommendations for things to do, where to eat, where to party and so on. The most amazing staff, we were even taking to the bus station on our last day for free by the owner as the taxi couldn’t be called (that is what I call going an extra mile for your guests). This was our honeymoon, the hotel left us a handwritten note and a complementary bottle of lovely white wine. The room had the most amazing facilities, huge bed, the softest sheets I have ever slept in, inside the room kitchen that had everything needed including coffee machine, blender for smoothies, oil and salt, and even complementary Oaxacan coffee. Beautiful shower with always hot water and great quality toiletries, two sets of towels for the beach and for the room. They even had fold of chairs (as backpacks) and an umbrella that can be taken to the beach. The hotel has a small rooftop pool and fun stylish gym. Location for us was spot on, as the hotel is bang in the middle of the Puerto Escondido beach, 5 min walk to the beach that is a quieter part of the strip. 15 min walk to Punta that has great lunch and bar options, shopping and more busy vibe if that is what you after. 15-20 min walk to Zicatele (party beach) clubs, bars more party vibe at night. But non of these are heard at the hotel. Everyday cleaning was done spotless. Overall the most wonderful hotel we stayed at during the 3 weeks in Mexico and we are definitely coming back!

This property is absolutely stunning; it is a modern design sprinkled with local touches and is very well appointed. It was sparkling clean, with daily housekeeping provided. We enjoyed our morning coffee in our own little outdoor space as well as the cute little rooftop pool. The beach was a 5 minute walk away, and the chairs/umbrella/towels provided were appreciated. It was very quiet and peaceful at night, so we slept great. Our host Luis, and his staff, were so friendly and helpful. We absolutely loved staying there.

A bit of construction noise during siesta time (but really unavoidable to be honest).

The staff was excellent and extremely friendly. They set up our room with a crib to accommodate our 1 year old. We made breakfast in our kitchen every day and it was very well equipped (including sharp knives and non-stick pans that were actually non-stick). The cleanliness of everything was top-notch. We used the gym on several occasions and it had more than enough equipment for a good workout. The location was quiet and close to the beach. Lots of restaurants were walking distance although we drove lots because it was too hot to walk very far with our child.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Mava. The staff truly made our visit to Puerto Escandido unforgettable. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and cared for throughout our stay. The hotel has beautiful facilities, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The location is excellent, and the overall vibe of the property is peaceful.

El alojamiento fue impecable y el servicio, excelente. El host siempre estuvo atento y fue muy amable, con una sonrisa que te hacía sentir bienvenida en todo momento. Sus recomendaciones fueron muy acertadas. Nos tocó la habitación debajo de la alberca, es cierto que se escuchan el agua y algunos sonidos, pero únicamente durante el día y no son ruidos fuertes ni interfieren con el descanso. Sin dudas, volvería a alojarme en este lugar si regreso a Puerto Escondido.

These villas are amazing. Modern, clean and beautifully designed. The staff are kind, attentive and helpful. We were sad we could only stay one night. Highly, highly recommend.

The hotel rooms and design were perfect. The staff was so nice and welcoming and helped me a lot when I felt sick (even brought me pills). The location is good but not in the middle of everything. The pool and yoga were awesome.

The location requires you to get a motorcycle or an atv to get around.

Nice roof top area with pool to relax. The complementary yoga was nice. Location is away from the busy area of town (10mins walk), felt safe to walk back at night.

The room we had (deluxe room) looked out over the road so no view and was underneath the pool so could be a little noisy. Also there was no ‘mood’ lighting, just the main light which felt harsh.

Luis and his team made us feel very at home. So kind and great hospitality. Beautiful designed rooms and I loved the jungle gym!! Pool views on the rooftop at sunset were also spectacular

La casa es muy bonita, el servicio es impecable ! La verdad es que todo me gustó. Siempre me resolvieron las dudas, de las recomendaciones rentamos una moto que no nos pedían depósito; el tour de los delfines que también nos recomendaron 10/10. Increíble !

Tal vez mencionar un poco que el estacionamiento es fuera de las instalaciones o en su defecto la calle. Pero de ahí en fuera todo increíble !

Casa Mava is a great hotel with nice, spacious rooms and a modern interior. Everything you need! We really liked the roof top terrace with the pool. Lise and Luis were the best hosts and gave us recommendations for the area. We would definitely stay at Casa Mava again

Fernando and Lise are extremely helpful and friendly, they have us excellent recommendations! The location is amazing, only 3 mins away from the beach and 15 mins away from the main strip. There's a convenience shop and laundrette 5mins walk away.

The AC is only on the top floor which is bedroom + en suite. There's no AC on the bottom floor of the villa, just fans which are a bit noisy.

El personal es súper amable y siempre estuvieron al pendiente de brindarnos recomendaciones sobre lugares para comer, divertirse, actividades recreativas, etc. El lugar es muy acogedor y privado.

Me gustó mucho la tranquilidad y la amabilidad de los empleados. Lise nos recibió y nos explicó todo sobre el hotel. Es un lugar muy bonito y está cerca de Zicatela y de la Punta Zicatela a pie.

El personal (Lise) y el servicio de limpieza súper atentas y agradables. Nos recibieron con una botella de vino y con una lista de sitios y contactos muy útiles para disfrutar de los días.

La cama es muy cómoda, la decoración es muy moderna. El lugar está prácticamente nuevo, muy tranquilo, sin ruido. Restaurantes cerca caminando, tienen estacionamiento. El café que proporcionan es delicioso. El gym está completo. La atención del personal muy bien, siempre atentos y muy amables.

El lugar es muy tranquilo, las instalaciones son un lujo, la atención maravillosa. Llegamos y nos dieron sombrilla para la playa, 2 toallas y 2 reposeras playeras que nos hicieron la estadía muchisimo mas confortable. Las instalaciones del lugar son tranquilas, se respira paz.

A nosotros que nos gusta cocinar, quizás podría haber algún utensilio de cocina mas de los que habia. Pero el resto fue increible.

Todo muy bien, estuvo todo bien organizado y limpio. Buena comunicación con los staffs. El plunge pool es super recomendado porque hace mucho calor y eso ayuda a refrescar

Aún no cuenta con su propio restaurante, pero ofrecen una lista de restaurantes recomendadas. Las calles alrededor del hotel no están pavimentadas.

La estancia fue muy agradable en general para descansar y relajarse es muy bueno, el lugar limpio el staf increible lo unico que le pondria mala calificacion las toallas estaban un poco sucias algo que se puede arreglar de lo de mas un lugar muy bueno cerca de la playa.

There are so many wonderful things about my stay at Casa Mava. The staff was exceptional and super helpful. The property is beautiful and well attended to. The interior of my villa and the entire property was inspiring and relaxing. This will be the only place I stay when I return to Puerto Escondido! I can't say enough about the staff and my experience. All top notch and with so much care!

Excellent location that was walking distance to a popular area but far enough away that it wasn't loud. Loved the kitchen to reheat leftovers and morning coffee. Two minute walk to the beach and excellent customer service. They even hand delivered a surprise birthday cake and a special note from my sister. All of the staff was wonderful and welcoming.

Very clean, well maintained property. Personalized service from a very friendly staff. Steps from the beach, cafes close by. Taxi service was readily available for Zicatela Beach and La Punta locations. Air conditioned bedrooms upstairs with a nice, private plunge pool. We received a very helpful list of recommended local restaurants and establishments. The manager was quick to respond via WhatsApp if we needed anything. We enjoyed our stay here!

I’ve stayed many places in Puerto. This was one of my favorites. It was new, internet great, hot showers, the staff was AMAZING. Super cute, quiet, 10 min walk to La Punta or Zicatela. 5 min walk to the beach. It’s quiet and calm. Really no complaints other than the Oaxacan sun. But the bedroom A/C upstairs fixed that. I wanted to surprise my gf with a bday cake and a quick message to the staff, they had it ready for me in our room! They even provided a bottle of wine, beach towels and umbrellas for us to use. Can’t recommend enough

Honestly this stay was just amazing. Everything about this hotel is more than 5 stars. Room was clean, spacious and also really pretty. The staff were so nice and also very helpful. And the beds? So comfortable!

Great spot. Super clean and new and a short beach walk to most anything (15 min Punta 25 min main town). I preferred Punta by far. The hotel does not have a view of the ocean or sunset, but for the price you are getting an amazingly new and nice property. Super comfortable beds, great showers and shower products. Easy to communicate via WhatsApp with staff.

It was excellent stay, very very kind and welcoming staff. Gave us lots of recommendations and tips for the trip. We would definitely coming back to this hotel:-)!!

Casa Mava is beautiful. I stayed in room Luis and it was beautiful and clean. The hotel offers so many amenities such as a refrigerator, sink, stove top and a coffee maker. It had everything that you need to go to the beach. Communication was on point, Delfino made check in very easy and he was always communicating with us if we needed anything. My husband and I definitely recommend Casa Mava.

Casa Mava is a very zen hotel. The rustic modern design aesthetic is well done, and the stand out for me is the massive shower in my room with a skylight.

I'm a greedy American so would have loved a room with AC in both the living space and bedroom. However, it only being in the bedroom was sufficient, and it's my understanding that this it the norm in Puerto Escondido.

This was our second stay at Casa Mava. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. It's always very clean. The shower and the toiletries are amazing. The pool is a nice spot to relax. No tele's in the rooms so it's quiet and very tranquil, as long as the other guests follow suit :) The bed was very comfortable.

Not the hotel's fault, but we stayed in a room below the pool/rooftop. We stayed in that room on our first visit as well without issue. On this visit, we could hear other guests moving furniture upstairs and talking loudly. Just inconsiderate guests, not an issue with the hotel.

We stayed at Casa Mava for our babymoon and had an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed—the hospitality was incredible. The hotel is beautifully designed with so much thought put into every detail, and unlike some places that look great in photos but aren’t functional, Casa Mava strikes the perfect balance of style and comfort. Our villa was spacious and well-appointed, with a super comfortable bed and a private pool that we absolutely loved. The rooftop pool was another highlight—a perfect spot to relax and unwind. We also really appreciated the gym, which was well-equipped and a great addition to our stay. One of the things we loved most was having a kitchen to make breakfast and lunch, while still being able to walk to La Punta for amazing food. The neighborhood is quiet and full of charm, with great local spots just minutes away. We especially loved Nasiva, just a two-minute walk from the hotel, which has the best fish tacos in the world! There are also plenty of little shops nearby for groceries, and we really enjoyed visiting Zicatela Mercado for fresh ingredients and other essentials. It was great to be able to support smaller, family-owned businesses in the area—it really added to the experience. Beyond the hotel itself, the location was fantastic, making it easy to explore while always looking forward to coming “home” to our little oasis. We spent four wonderful nights here and couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate this special time. Highly recommend Casa Mava to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious getaway!

This property was nice and quiet, and the staff were friendly. I would like to mention that the room views are not the best in comparison to other hotels with beach views in the area. Another thing to mention is that the hotel does not offer a bar by the pool to order drinks. It would have been nice to have that option, but other than that everything was great.

Fernando was our host and he walked us through everything with the best hospitality I’ve seen in a while. They give you very thorough documents for moving around Puerto Escondido. Amazing stay I can’t wait to go again for longer.

Casa Mava es increíble, el servicio que te brindan es 5 estrellas. Tienen todo lo necesario para pasar unas vacaciones increíbles. Se encuentra en una zona muy cercana a la punta y a Zicatela pero más tranquila para poder descansar y tienes la playa a una cuadra. Nosotros nos quedamos en la Villa Diego…preciosa! Toda la propiedad se nota el mantenimiento y el cuidado que tiene. La zona de la alberca es un lujo. No dudamos que regresaremos muy pronto.

Pasamos tres noches en Casa Mava y hemos pasado unos días geniales. Nuestra habitación Sabina era amplia, la cama super cómoda. En la habitación teníamos frigobar, sillas para la playa (muy cómodas y fácil de transportar), sombrilla de playa. La verdad que este tipo de amenidades para ir a la playa son super útiles, ya que la playa estaba literal a 4min caminando. El área de la alberca, super relajante. Los propietarios nos ofrecieron todo tipo de información super útil y práctica que hizo de nuestra estancia en Casa Mava, como si estuviéramos en casa. ¡Sin duda la recomendamos y estamos deseando volver!

Exceeded expectations, so clean, reasonably priced, and truly amazing. Just far enough from the craziness, but still so close to the beach. Would absolutely stay again. Luis managed the property and was SO helpful-- he gave us tips, made sure our stay was comfortable, stored our luggage, etc. He truly made the experience wonderful!

Excellent place to stay!! They were really welcoming once we arrived and were always aware in case we needed something. The personnel was really kind and friendly and the zone where Casa Mava is really in the middle of every, so you could go walking everywhere. As well, the beach is really close so we didn’t have ti walk long distances.
