Location, price, cleanliness, fish and chip shop, dog friendly

Great location, large room, friendly staff, lovely food.
Everything you need. Good location. Helpful staff

Location and facilities , excellent food and staff
Parking can be problematic at peak times
Our stay at the Castle Inn was brilliant - for the price of the room we got, it far exceeded our expectations! It was a really lovely place to relax after our soggy 3 days on the C2C cycle - they even had a secure bike shed for guests to use. The location is fantastic - close to the beach and Metro stations. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, both were delicious and in an attractive setting. We didn't visit them, but the fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour on-site were a nice touch.
The exterior of the hotel doesn't do it justice (although freshly painted)!

Great location!
I’m 6ft 5in in height, the bed was a bit short

breakfast poor. Food tasted as if it had been out for hours.
the booking was terrible. I saw room advertised for £99 When tried to book online it came up not available I rang booking line and told nothing available I then booked through booking. com and paid £165. Very pleasant man on reception but he could not do anything about the price. I definitely feel cheated.

The location was great, perfect setting on the water. It had a large bar and lounge area, the staff was very nice and sociable. They upgraded our room since they were not very busy during our stay. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. We would difinitely stay here again.
can't think of anything we didn't like here.
Location is amazing. Great pub and restaurant on site. Room was fine.
Check in and out hit or miss. Cleaning staff great with customer service but bar/check in staff not so much. Room very dusty upon check in.
Location by the sea lovely for a walk
The train line was 2 meters from our room so that was unfortunate
Great location on the seafront
Way too hot in the rooms, rooms not that clean, lots of dust everywhere and overpriced for what it is.
Lovely hotel. Clean room. Helpful staff.
Staff knocking on our door at 8:00am! Turns out they had the wrong room but woke us up.
Location
We live 10 mins away so on our doorstep in the area we know
Our room 127 was extremely hot, but couldn't open the window due to maybe a generator or something making a very loud humming noise right outside. At 4am we couldn't stand it so had to open the window, didn't sleep at all, so very glad to get home. At breakfast there were dogs everywhere which I feel is totally inappropriate, definitely should be an area free from them.
Lovely hotel for a one night stay
Nothing
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location, we booked a room overlooking the sea and beach.
The toilet had a very bad flush, took two or three attempts to clear. There were a lot of dogs and some of the dog owners were not responsible, my wife tripped over a dogs lead while carrying food.
Cleanliness, on-site parking, great location, good room, and multi-choice breakfast. Nice evening meal in on-site restaurant.
Clean and very comfortable. Fantastic location.
Rather disappointed with the breakfast. Better sausages and more well cooked bacon along with a soft yolk of an egg is needed.
Great location, really nice clean hotel
Spectacular location on the coast. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, well-equipped rooms. And dog-friendly, too.
Good location, choice of seating inside/outside, dog friendly/dog free area.
It took too long to receive a coffee.
Good location
Breakfast could have been warmer .
Informal atmosphere, very welcoming, pet friendly in every way, very comfortable room rooms and excellent staff
At the we went for breakfast, 930, some of the trays of hot food were empty
By the beach and a fun stay
Single room a little small
Great location, great hotel, staff very helpful, very clean. Great if you have a dog! The
The check in is really easy IF you park in the right place! If you do, you don't have to trail your cases through the entire Bar/Cafe area. It was only by chance that I got this right. The room (121) although not very large has a magnificent view, a comfortable bed and it was very clean. Although right on the front, it wasn't noisy at night, which was a relief. Car Parking is free, but don't forget to register your car's registration number at Reception. There IS a lift. The evening meal was very nice and those serving it were obliging and friendly. It's a beautiful looking 'art deco' building, difficult to miss.
I found that the Breakfast was rather bland, with some of the cooked fayre having been on the hot plate for too long (eggs). It was OK, this is a fairly minor criticism. There are no fancy coffees, just this filter stuff (presumably filtered) out of a thermos jug. It's all a bit too casual with the emphasis on YOU checking in with the Staff, rather than the other way around. I swear, if I had just walked in off the street, no one would have been any the wiser! These are minor criticisms, as there is very little NOT to like.
I stayed here after a work party. The location was perfect. Loves the breakfast, such a good choice. Staff were really welcoming. In all a good stay. Slept very well.
Was a little comfiest about using the car park and how to register as a guest but was sorted.
Lovely Art Deco building which has been tastefully modernised. Great staff and great location right on the seafront. Very dog friendly.
Great
I didn't ask for a quiet room. My single room wasn't great, and felt clostraphobic. I did book through booking.com though!
Location
Noisy! Could hear creaking from the first floor all night and someone snoring. En suite was dirty and toilet did not flush properly
Location of the hotel was excellent, close to the shoreline with a sea view and a large car park. It was a short walk to town, the Priory, restaurants and cafes and the beach was close although it was a steep walk down steps to the beach. There were great walks all along the cliff, around the Priory and to the statue and an excellent cycle path. You could walk or cycle a long away along the cliffs to North Shields in one direction and Whitley Bay in the other. The hotel had lots of outdoor seating and plenty of tables inside. The menu was good and food and drink a good price. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with facilities for tea and coffee making. There was a great choice of breakfast items. Attached to the hotel was a fish and chip restaurant and an ice cream parlour.
I can't think of anything we didn't like. To be honest we really liked the hotel and Tynemouth and thought we would be happy to go there again. The weather was excellent and that always makes a difference.
Great location with beautiful sea views. Staff were extremely friendly & attentive. Very comfortable bed & powerful shower.
The hotel generally, restaurant, bar & toilets were clean. However, the duster seemed to miss our room in some places & one of our windows was covered on cob webs.

Location and clean comfortable
Nothing to dislike
The location was excellent, the rooms were nicely decorated and clean, the bed was very comfortable and the staff were good.
No air con but there were fans in the room if we needed it,
A good hotel when visiting Tynemouth. It's located on the sea front with plenty of parking. The staff were pleasant. The rooms were good.
It's personal preference but I'm not a great fan of buffet breakfasts. With the number of guests passing through I understand why it's done but the food is always warm as opposed to hot.
Food is great. Staff are lovely.
All good..
Yhe location is fantastic staff a great and the carpark is large plenty of space The rooms a clean and tidy around great hotel
Location
Room very dusty.
Location very good. Room large (both) Had to change rooms.
Breakfast plenty of food and Choice but was cool to cold overall. Asked to change rooms as garden room we selected smelled strongly of dogs. Room could have been cleaner and looked tired.
The staff were brilliant the room nice balcony great
Food was disappointing price very dear
Fantastic location on the front. Very comfortable room with a fun window seating area looking out onto the sea.
The bar/restaurant feels very much like the chain that it is. But the room was really nice.
Location
Poor breakfast
Location good bar food good but breakfast very poor
Breakfast buffet was very untidy
Very comfortable room and excellent location. Had dinner there both nights and very good.
Staffing is poor at check in and during breakfast. Waited a while to check in due to lack of staff - had to go and find someone. Breakfast service has no where near enough staff. Only cereals at breakfast were labelled and although most is obvious, no labelling for any possible allergies. They were frequently running out of cutlery and food items.
The Art Deco style. Staff absolutely lovely, helpful, friendly. Enjoyed making friends with David at the bar. Nice breakfast - basic but adequate.
Did ask for a cheeky upgrade for my birthday but didn't get it - never mind though, it didn't spoil our stay and the room was fine, really. To improve, just go a little bit further with the styling of the rooms i.e. art deco mirrors and light fittings in the bathroom.
This is my favourite hotel in the area as the location is great and it’s very comfortable. The staff are always friendly and helpful and as a solo traveller I feel safe so this is really important to me. I fully recommend staying here and I love the fact that it is dog friendly.

Geweldig hotel, prachtige kamer, heerlijke locatie. Fijn ontbijt, heerlijk gegeten in het restaurant. Parkeren voor de deur. Prachtig uizicht op zee.
Helemaal niets !
Location and staff were lovely
Food. Breakfast was great but the small bites menu was terrible
Check in didn’t seem very organised
Indifferent staff
Typisch Engels badplaatsenvertier, geweldig!
Fabulous room. The staff on check in were excellent. Great location
Breakfast was limited and it appeared there was insufficient staff for the number of guests
Perfect location, comfortable room, decent value.
Long trek to lift for those of us with heavy luggage assigned a room in south end of building; staff could often be difficult to find when needed.
Interesting building - clean rooms, large bed, nice shower, tea, coffee and biccies - they upgraded us to a balcony room which was delicious in the morning with the sea and sun. Good quality brekky!

The rooms and dining area are aesthetically gorgeous with lots of space. The staff were lovely and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was great and the beer selection on tap was fab.
Very loud and creaky, you can hear every footstep, door slam and corridor conversation. It's such a shame because the place is so beautiful but it was very hard to take a nap and have a lie in. Again, just so squeaky and creaky when people walk in the rooms above. Made it hard to relax. We went for a budget room which does overlook the carpark and was right near the metro which didn't help. If you value quiet, bring earbuds and spring for a better room.
Had a good stay when in Tynemouth for a concert. Everything was really good, rooms lovely and breakfast was amazing. Only thing I didn't like was the check in was at the bar and was hard to figure out what you were meant to be doing. A separate reception, check in desk would work much better.
All good.
Lovely restaurant/bar area. Noticed the pricing showed the good breakfast only £10 more for a couple than room only, that did seem a bargain. Room was pleasant with a large comfy bed. We have stayed here before, it is our first choice in the area.
We had food in the hotel and it was lovely
Got a bit rowdy on the nite fighting in street but this was not hotels fault
Superb all round. Having cycled Coast to Coast the hotel was wonderful.Secure bike storage and a very warm welcome. Highly recommended.
All perfect.
Great room with large window area. It was spotlessly clean and spacious. Staff were all very friendly and helpful Whole hotel was very clean.
Breakfast. Excellent selection but the 'hot food' was only luke warm . Final room price was a puzzle. Initial quote was £288 for 2 nights. Added to that was a dog supposedly £30 (£15 per night). But when I arrived back home I found the total was £348. .
Impressive building. Clean and comfortable. Both dinner and breakfast were exceptional.
Delay on booking in.
The beachfront location
£25 for breakfast is a bit much
Nice room, peacefull, breakfast was lush
Tv needs updating, not many channels worked and not very smart
well presented
View from room
Excellent, good choice of everything. Lack of plates at some points.
Door closure locks in corridor loud on closing. Disturbing sleep repeatedly. Train line noise.
I struggled to find anyone to help me in the morning
The view ,from the room.
Small shower cubicle, car park, small places.
Great location and friendly staff. Good breakfast

The room and bed were good including the bathroom which was clean. The staff were lovely and helpful. The location and view are lovely
As a pair of 83 year olds we were given the room which was the furthest away from the reception which was not ideal. The room did not have a fridge, phone and the coffee and tea were not replenished for the second day. The pillows were very hard also. The cooked breakfast was cold which was disappointing as we were there early and would expect it to be fresh and hot.
Large, nice bar fab views
Stayed in room 204 of a cost of 229 a night including breakfast. The room was tiny and hot, there are fans however one was very weak and the other was noisy. No smart tv. Breakfast was ok however if u go around 9.45 most of it has gone (buffet) however breakfast was reasonably priced.
The location was great and loved the art deco style. The room was spacious with a balcony looking out to sea.

Was a lovely hotel and bar in good location
Great location, nice bar and restaurant. Breakfast included. Lovely!

Great place to stay when visiting Tynemouth. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice large bathroom and good breakfast was included.

Good location, spacious room, good breakfast
Room price was quite expensive.
Excellent location/views, beautifully decorated throughout. Excellent breakfast

Didn’t like your cheese pie unfortunately not cheesy at all Very good breakfast and great fish and chips
All of it
Location is great parking is easy
Electric car charging system is very difficult to use. Most people gave up trying and staff could not help.
Location is outstanding
Being stung for £25 for a late checkout. En suite is a bit poorly stocked, I can do without a shower cap, but an emergency toothbrush would've been welcome b
Nice design , old pictures, and location close to the beach . Good food!
Our room was very close to the railway line( we slept well anyway)
Staff were all very nice the hotel and pub are very nice, nicely decorated clean.food was good .had a evening meal in lounge ,was very nice.breakfast was plentiful loads of choice.

Staff was a bit grumpy that we was there a bit before check in. We just finished c2c bike ride and just wanted somewhere to get changed.
There was a smell in the shower room that permiated the bedroom space....I brough this to the attention of the staff at checkout...
