The place is a hidden gem with amazing views and excellent facilities
Due to its location, phone signals are very limited at best. This also made the service in the breakfast a little slow.
Our actual room and views were incredible! We really enjoyed our massage at the spa and the gym facility was very clean. Folegrandos island is beautiful!!
We felt that our experience did not live up to the hype. It was extremely windy (the windiest part of the entire island). The wind made it so that we could not use the main pool during our entire stay and we found it hard to enjoy our private pool terrace. In addition, our private pool was FREEZING so we could not fully enjoy that amenity. The hotel did not seem designed to handle the windy conditions of the island. In addition, the concierge was not helpful out all in explaining how to get around the Island, what activities we could enjoy and seemed very stressed when we asked a bunch of questions. I think the hotel, since it is so isolated from the rest of the island, should offer more activities (i.e. live music evenings) at the actual resort and explain to guests how to get around the island effectively. Also, the service for food was mediocre / pool bar that they advertise was not really much of a thing as no one would serve us (the pool bar was empty for our entire 5 day stay). In addition, the food menu for lunch and dinner was the same, not making hotel meals that special. The actual restaurant has no views and is still outside, which meant it was barely protected from the wind. We really enjoyed Folegrandos and the idea of Gundari, but did not think the value for money was great.
The views are great. The architecture is amazing. The hotel staff were all very polite. The towels were changed twice a day.
The architecture of the place is great however it needs to become a bit more practical, the winds in this spot are very strong which makes it challenging to enjoy the facilities, even breakfast. There could be little amendments to make the common areas a bit more protected from the winds as it is a windy island. The room was good size however there is nowhere to dry towels or the swimming suits, the shower is spacious but there is no place to put toiletries and has limited space to hang towels. There are design tricks that look nice however can easily lead to accidents (small gaps around the private pool, low entrances /doors etc). The private swimming pool was tiny. The pastries in the breakfast did not feel fresh and all was served at the same time, sweet and savoury. The road leading to the hotel is unpaved and all the sand ends up in the common areas. The hotel is quite isolated from the town of Folegandros even though the distances are small, the road is not great. The hotel reception even though polite offered no information for Folegandros island which would be nice for someone visiting first time.
There really is nothing to fault at Gundari: amazing premises, comfortable rooms, unbeatable views, helpful and kind staff. A great thanks to the staff, who made our stay truly memorable ❤️
Nothing
The hotel is very nice, nothing to say, a nice experience staying there. The restaurant has good food and nice atmosphere.
The water in the pool from the room was not so clean and unfortunately the room was full of insects everywhere. The price I think is a little bit too high for what the hotel has to offer. Its more about aesthetics, than real luxury. But overal was a good experience.
The location, very windy but isolated, calm and a tad dramatic, amazing for star gazing! The staff is so helpful. Special thanks to Effi that helped us both in Folegandros but also generously helped with our next destination. The place is beautiful, architecture amazing, gym is great and food phenomenal! They also have a very cute house cat 🐈

Nicely positioned hotel. Great pool area. Very helpful staff, especially the front desk team. Good ‘free’ transport to/from the port, to the beach and into Chora town which is stunning.
Room interior design is dated. The very long road approach needs attention to make it more comfortable, apparently vehicles suffer punctures quite often on the ‘road’ access. The gym could have been much better positioned.
This property lives up to all five star expectations. The ultimate of quiet luxury without being pretentious. The main reason for this is Ricardo, the half owner/partner of this amazing place, who adds detailed oversight and his Australian relaxed personality to every detail.
There is nothing at all to dislike.
Amazing room and food.
Not ready to be a 5 star resort yet. Needs more focus on hospitality and training of some of their staff. They also need to polish their offered activities and availability of transfers. Tried visiting the spa but didn't get any reply on the phone despite leaving my information multiple times to the front desk and directly visiting the spa.
Le personnel à la réception était extraordinaire. Superbe piscine .
It was our first time on Folegandros and even though we had never stayed at the hotel, Effy at the front desk made it feel like we were coming home. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and kind. Between the bar manager George and the sommelier, Constantine every dinner we had was just excellent - their recommendations, professionalism and welcoming natures gave us some of the best dining experiences we've had. Huge compliments to the chef's too! Thank you for our stay, we will certinaly be back again soon!

Everything : the staff, the facilities, the great view, the relaxing atmosphere - it was an amazing experience - the hotel was matching the environment and the style of the island it was a luxury hotel but really respectful to the landscape
Everything. Food, views and service was amazing.

Stunning location, feels remote but not far to drive into Chora. The hotel is beautiful, the room was a great size and the private balcony and pool area was wonderful. The a la carte breakfast was wonderful, and we really enjoyed drinks and dinner there too
It was excellent, but a minor point that our room wasn't very soundproof
Virkelig dejligt hotel. Faciliteterne var perfekte. Super gym.
Everything! It is stunningly located overlooking the Mediterranean Sea as far as the eye can see. Facilities are gorgeous and so beautifully designed. Our room was huge and with private pool, terrace, even a record player! And the staff are so kind and helpful. Highly recommended.

It was too windy
Amazing location, great cuisine. The staff are wonderful and helpful and really make the stay special - they stand out.
No e-bikes :( - otherwise amazing.
Design and layout. The food was excellent. Friendly staff. Nice bedroom
No privacy around our pool Room noise due to high wind. Make it tricky to sleep We thought with the extreme wind the staff could have been more responsive to helping us to alternative activities
Perfect stay, exactly as advertised
Property is absolutely stunning, beds were so comfortable and the cocktails and food were great
The service is a little off, maybe because they’re so new. For example we had Prosecco delivered to our room on the first day and the dirty glasses were still there when we left 5 days later. Our room rubbish wasn’t removed until we asked and then it was left outside our door for 24 hours. They also say on the websites that electric bikes/vehicles are provided so we didn’t hire a car as we thought we could use these, however when we arrived they weren’t there. The shuttle into town or to the beaches isn’t free and in a hotel like this you’d assume it would be considering what you are paying for and that fact that it’s a 10 minute drive you have to take if you want to go anywhere as the hotel is very remote.
Feels like they have invested more money into marketing than ensuring the accommodations are actually ready for guests. On a very remote, rugged part of the island and they are still doing construction to expand the property. Felt more like glamping than a five star hotel. If you stay here, you need to be ok with small bugs coming into the room, water potentially coming into the room if conditions are stormy, etc. You're out there with the elements which is great, but coining this as "raw luxury" has the potential to be misleading. Food is great (the breakfast is fantastic), but 2-3x the price of local restaurants. The resort is remote and we started to feel a bit guilty eating meals there rather than supporting local businesses. When we had issues come up the customer service response was very helpful - you can tell they are really trying to make this resort work. Unfortunately we were not impressed with the cleaning staff as they would only make the bed - no replacing cups in the minibar or taking our trash out. You should wait a year or two while they work out the kinks of being a new hotel. Don't let yourself get too swayed by Condé Nast lists and their strong PR coverage.
Amazing rooms in this hotel, the private pool with the view of the sea has to be seen to be believed. Great facilities, lovely food and complimentary yoga. The breakfast was also delicious.
We absolutely loved our stay at Gundari. The hotel is beautiful, the suites are luxurious but not fussy, and views are incredible. The service and the people really make this hotel a special place. Nothing is too much trouble, and everyone has a natural friendliness, not in a typical 5* polished service way. The food and drinks were delicious, the prices are more than in the nearby village Chora, but it was very good food. The local Greek wines were very good too. The position of the hotel gives you the best sunset spot, and the sunsets in September were stunning. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. If you are considering it, just book it!
Just amazing the views from your room are mesmerizing Wonderful food and wine Great staff and sun set made from heaven
Could do with some additional furniture or outside shower or bath on our terrace a little empty but still glorious
Just a perfect getaway.
Where to start.....The staff are professional & friendly, Gundari"s Spa treatment makes you "float" and the breakfast & dinner were absolutely top class, not to mention the bar & atmosphere. The main infinity pool and view were simply stunning as well!! Located only mins from the main town of Chora makes it very convenient and is a must-see. So many serene little beaches to be discovered and the water is crystal clear.....I really didn't want to leave
This beautiful resort on the picturesque island of Folegandros completely exceeded my expectations. The staff went above and beyond to assist with hiring a quad bike, taking us to the port and the town of Chora and giving us tips on how to enjoy the island. Breakfast was exceptional - didn't need to eat again until dinner every day. Room with our own pool was so indulgent it was hard to leave. Being so remote and operating with a sustainable ethos may not appeal to those who need long showers and daily linen turnover but to the rest of us who understand that capturing water and generating electricity has restrictions it's a joy to support a hotel that is on a sustainable journey.
Nothing !
We stayed in the ‘standard’ suite - although there is nothing ‘standard’ about this suite or resort. The room was just ‘stunning', the significantly large space struck me first along with the earthy yet luxury vibe instantly relaxed me. Then the epic view which takes your breath away and exquisite meals to elevate the experience of our stay. Felt very surreal to be somewhere so beautiful, felt like I was instantly in holiday mode and in the best place to relax.
We absolutely loved our time in Gundari and Folegandros. The hotel is stunning in every way, such beautiful design in a stunning location. The Spa is really special, and I had probably the best massage I have ever had anywhere. We cant wait to come back next year.
Nothing comes to mind.
We an amazing stay at Gundari. I had a chat with one of the owners who was checking in with guests. I was really impressed by the efforts they’d made to have a sustainable footprint. Folegandros is a real untouched gem. The town is charming, offering a peaceful and authentic Greek island experience. Rooms have all the five-star modern conveniences you’d expect, but the atmosphere is unpretentious. I liked the little touches like the vinyl in my room. The team are friendly and accommodating, and breakfast featured delicious, healthy options. The infinity pool overlooking the Aegean with a swim-up bar was spectacular. We also loved our private pool, made more enjoyable with the room service.
Everything was great. We will be back!
The island, the resort, the food and the people. We enjoyed a memorable boat trip to the nearby islands and loved using the ebikes to get around. Chora - the main village - was beautiful
When it was time to leave....
hotel is new, but service and facilities could be better

Location
9.4/10Outstanding views and very good positioning with free transport to port/beach/Chora; one drawback is a very long/rough access road that can cause vehicle issues.
Room Quality
9.2/10Many guests called the rooms beautiful and well designed; one mention of dated interior in a room and some small missing items (glasses, coffee) reduced score slightly.
Amenities
8.6/10Excellent pool area and complimentary transport, but problems reported with the spa responsiveness, gym positioning/towels, and a non-working telescope; some operational gaps.
Value for Money
7.6/10Several guests felt room prices were high for the delivered quality and that the property is not fully operating at a consistent 5-star level yet.
Food and Beverage
9.1/10Breakfast and many dinner experiences were highly praised (chefs, sommelier, bar manager); one note about limited/expensive options outside breakfast for some guests.
Overall Experience
9.8/10Many guests described a wonderful, welcoming stay that met or exceeded five-star expectations and that they would return; minor operational/service gaps did not overshadow the strong overall experience.
