Water dispensers located everywhere! A/C in the public toilets. Happy hour! For an island resort, the gym is well-equipped. Water temperature in the pools are just right. Plenty of cabanas and couches to lounge in. Fantastic views from both pools. Excellent customer service! Superb rooms and amenities. Plenty of water and land activities in the resort itself, just have to pay for it.

Chef manning the omelette station was unapproachable and unwelcoming, too much so we just decided not to get one on the second day

Here are the things I don’t like about Discovery Samal. 1. The hassle of the shuttle going to places within the property. 2. Waiting for the shuttle took so long. Not friendly for PWDs or babies with strollers to get around the property. 3. Neither restaurant serves good food plus it’s pricey. 4. Water pressure in our bathroom (shower and bidet) was so low. 5. There’s a complimentary cocktail in celebration of their 3rd Anniversary, but the taste is so bad, and the beverage is of low quality. Plus, it was served in a disposable cup, as if they gave us a Zesto drink! I never expected that to be a premium resort. 6. It was Kadayawan, and we availed a P2,700 dinner buffet special, but it was never a special experience. Did not complement the price to our experience. Bad food, and it took so long to refill. Plus, by 7pm, no more mussels at the seafood grill. What happened to their forecasting and food projection? 7. I was offered a complimentary cake for our anniversary celebration, but when I refused to be announced on stage, they never served my cake. How pathetic. 8. Scary swimming beach experience. There is trash, and biglang lumalalim yung sand/beach. Not safe for those who can’t swim. 9. The beach towel counter is only on one side; you need to walk far if your beach bed is on the other side. 10. They don’t buss out the trash and used cutlery and dishes in the poolside table and beach areas. Geeze! Like a fast food.

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The room had a strong sewer-like smell coming from the bathroom, which made the room uncomfortable. What made it worse was the slow response from the staff when I reported the issue. The food was also overpriced for what was served. The portions were small, and the taste was nothing special—similar to what you could get at an ordinary restaurant for a lower price. Overall, the experience did not meet my expectations, especially considering the price. I hope the hotel improves its maintenance, responsiveness, and food quality.

The location, the hotel, the restaurants, the beach and pools, the staff, and the carts going around the resort were all excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay there with my family. They provided alot of activities for us and the kids. Shows we won't forget including their delicious food. As well as the staff's service being a delight to us.

The room has a nice bed and quite spacious . Food ala carte at morning catch restaurant was good.

No maps or guide to help you maximise your stay or suggestions what you can do for entertainment and dining .

Junior suite room which i had reservd is far from everything, 1 intify bayhroom, door could’nt open & small insects on my pillow.

Everything is perfect. We love the scenic view from our room. The beach is absolutely beautiful with its semi powdery white sands. The foods are delicious though a little bit pricey but it’s worth it. The transpo or bus is amazingly comfortable.

The tiles in the pool are slippery and not safe for kids. Sometimes, transpo bus from hotel room to restaurant takes time.

A perfect blend of great surroundings, wonderful people, and a welcoming ambiance.

While there were aspects of the stay that I enjoyed, there were also a few disappointments. First, the menu selection was quite limited. I ordered the Davao crab dish, but unfortunately, it lacked flavor and did not meet expectations. Considering the price, it felt like a poor value for money. Second, if the second-level pool is exclusively reserved for villa guests, this should have been clearly communicated during check-in. We were excited to use the facility, only to be informed by the lifeguard that access was restricted. For a 5-star hotel, this is a basic service detail that should have been handled proactively to avoid guest inconvenience and disappointment. Better communication and attention to these details would significantly improve the overall guest experience.

I liked how naturally beautiful the resort was, having access to the private beach, staff for the most part were friendly, the happy hour, and the rooms and views were gorgeous.

Many bathrooms onsite (even the restaurant) had no running water or were not working, which is disappointing for a 5 star hotel. There’s also no communication or sign showing the upper level pools are for villa guests only. It’s so embarrassing that they encourage you to explore the grounds but then you get sent away. There’s not a map provided either, so it’s easy to misunderstand what amenities are available to you. And for $200+ a night, you think you would have access to the property you are paying for. But if not, at least communicate that with people upfront.

This resort has its own Welcome Center that welcomes guests to travel to the island. They have taken care of our large suitcases from point A to B without a problem. Me and my family needed this hospitality and attention to details especially with our needs and requests. Resort staffs were very helpful and are open to help you about anything. We traveled with a 6yr old kid and having multiple choices of pool and beach is such a fun experience for her and for us. Their heated pool is also a recommended dip. They have 6 lifeguards on site and multiple services available. When it’s not busy, they clean the beach and remove the wastes drifting inside the vicinity. I was impressed on how detailed they are with it.

Their “Kids Club” is just a parent- supervised play area on what they call “Sandbox” and we were disappointed that it is not what it’s expected to be. We expected that it’s a day club where children can play and enjoy games with a dedicated resort teachers or experts. We raised this concern to their team but I hope they taken appropriate action to correct this misunderstanding. Also in the Sandbox they assigned a person whom clueless about what she’s doing or even aware of where she is. I ask her things and her answers are always “I don’t know”, “ they haven’t told me what to do”, “I am not sure”, “I will call someone who knows” 🙂‍↔️As a parent to enter such location, I’m very worried to allow this personnel to enter and let her supervise the premise. I bet she doesn’t know children basic first aid. But I hope that they improve this topic as soon as possible. Then I can and will surely recommend this place with my European friends.

The kindness and availability of the hotel room cleaning service were super spectacular, with a unique smile. They are Ilai, Lilian, Kaye, and Ira.

The property is stunning and very well maintained. The surroundings are peaceful, the facilities are excellent, and everything was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our stay truly memorable. They even prepared a lovely surprise for us as honeymooners on such short notice. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made our stay even more special.

Based on our experience, there was nothing we didn’t like. If I could suggest one improvement, it would be to add a souvenir shop for guests.

Spacious and clean..friendly staffs.

First of all, please try to put options for the coffee and teas..u can add sachets of coffees and teas, and put creamers, sugars, etc. not only the nespresso machine. The pool in between the upper pool and the pool near the ocean--it is just exclusive for the villas? no one told us until a staff told us its not allowed to take photo there and its just for the villas guest..first of all they should put a sign that its exclusive for the villa guest only.. coz we thought that if we check in, in the resort we can wander and enjoy the place.. lastly the son of my sister aged 13, why do you also charged him with another payment well in fact we booked two rooms already.. i think you should consider the families that checking in to your resort and change some of your protocols..not everything should be charged with a price! I am a traveller and i have been to many 5 star luxury resorts and hotels..and my point is there is always a room for improvement since you just opened your resort. Thank you...

Property lovely. Appologizing doesn't constitute good service. To date the hotel has not returned a letter. They are aware they charged me twice for a meal...once cash once again cc on departure. This was so I could leave without arguing......I left it with them, simply stating stating "please DISCOVER the problem" The payment was witnessed... ...it happened 5 days ago,, they still haven't replied.

Offering appologies doesn't mean the service is good...Since apologizing profusely, the hotel has not contacted me regarding their overcharge...

Location is fantastic, rooms are clean and freshened up everyday, breakfast was excellent with a great choice and selection very pleasant and attentive staff, restaurants have a reasonable selection, however over a longer stay it can be repetitive All staff were friendly and always had a smile

The checking in and out reception area could do with more AC especially when busy, I have stayed four times in recent years in the resort and not once did they welcome me back, poor customer relations in that part. Some of the evening restaurant staff were not as attentive as previous stays, I ordered some beer 3 times but none arrived each time I ordered perhaps the standard is slipping slightly now it’s been open for a while

Good amenities and staffs are very passionate in their duties.

We had the opportunity to meet the nicest staff ever. They were very kind and helpful. We travel a lot. The breakfast was excellent. The room was big and clean. The pools and the sea were beautiful.

In Davao, Google Maps doesn't direct you to the right place. This is not the place's fault, but it is important information.

The hotel is well maintained and most of the staff have pleasing personalities

You will only know the event per dining area when you ask. There should be a bulletin or general information shared via sms or thru flyer updating guests on the even per dining area.

This is my 2nd time staying here. I actually suggested it to be the venue for our office team building because i definitely love this resort 🥰 The beach, pool and food is always my fave....

boat transfer from davao welcome center to discovery samal was very convenient. otherwise going to samal island through the usual ferry will take you some time because of the long queue. the meet & greet once you arrive is very good, cart ride to your room too and if you’re lucky the driver will give you a little history of the place including amenities. the couple room + 1 that we booked is generous.

apparently, during off peak season there will be less staff hence you will have a long wait for the property tour as there will not be enough driver to take you. at least that’s what our driver told us after we complained that we have been waiting for some time in the open lobby.

They didnt clean my room and only did a turn down service in evening. I dont know if thats standard but i wanted to come to a clean room after a day of touring. I also didnt like that I wasnt able to bring the chips that I bought from SM 😂 and they even checked my bag after i came back from my tour

It's our fifth time there, still the same. We all like everything there.

The beach is nice. And the view fantastic. Aesthetically the property is impressive. But look closer and it seems fake and in need of repair. Food venues were good although expensive.

It’s not a five star establishment. More like a 3 star. The finishes and decor are nice but underlying five star treatment and niceties not there. Most of sinks in washroom out of order. Lifts not working in apartment block. Transport like London buses, none then three on a row. Fake grass and wood decking sorely in need of a varnish.

Beautiful resort and very family-friendly. The place itself was worth visiting—clean, relaxing, and scenic. The only issue was check-in. Our family had already been waiting for hours before the scheduled check-in, and we still had to wait another hour for the room to be ready. It was tiring, especially with family. Still had a lovely stay overall and hope they can improve the check-in process.
