The Residence Douz

We stayed at Residence Douz for four nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, very clean and welcoming, with excellent food and truly outstanding service. The whole team was incredibly friendly and made us feel very well taken care of throughout our stay. A special highlight was the spa. I had an amazing massage – honestly one of the best I’ve ever had! A huge thank you to my massage therapist, Nourhene, who was extremely attentive, professional and skilled. She made the experience truly special. I would also like to personally thank the service manager, Khalifa, and our waiter, Ali, for their kindness, attentiveness and excellent service. Thank you to the entire Residence Douz team for making our four days so enjoyable and memorable. We would happily come back and definitely recommend this hotel!

La piscina non era pulitissima pur essendo vuoto l hotel ma capisco che nn avere sabbia dentro in mezzo al deserto sia difficile richiede molta manutenzione continua, il personale del ristorante era quasi scocciato che ci trattenevamo piu del dovuto restava sempre a guardare per metterci fretta e chiedeva di continuo se potevano sbarazzare una cosa un po fastidiosa essendo vuoto il ristorante e noi gli unici clienti volevano farci finire veloce per poter stare tranquilli evidentemente , anche il ristorante nulla di che per i prezzi che aveva , stessi piatti presentati in diversa maniera

Komend vanuit Tozeur werden we na een taxirit van 2 uur afgezet bij het hotel. We werden met een welkomsdrankje ontvangen. Check in ging snel en daarna met een buggy naar de kamer (villa) gebracht. De kamer is ruim en mooi ingericht. Comfortabele en ook ruime badkamer. In de ochtend een heerlijk en uitgebreid ontbijt met omelet naar keuze. Personeel is behulpzaam en heel vriendelijk. Groot zwembad in prachtig aangelegde tuin, waar je overdag kan afkoelen, Dat was nodig bij temperaturen boven de 40 gr.C.. De middagborrel bij Ali aan de bar. Hele enthousiaste man die het vak verstaat, altijd vriendelijk en goede humor, top! In de avond naar het restaurant met Tunesisch en Franse keuken waar ze ook een mooie wijnkaart hebben. Kortom, het is goed uit te houden bij Residence Douz aan de rand van de Sahara. Ali en de rest van team Residence, bedankt.

J'ai tout adoré lors de mon séjour en famille. Nous avons louer deux villas une pour mon marinet moi et une pour les enfants avec mamie. L'hôtel et le personnel sont vraiment aux petits soins propre attentionné. Très très bon séjour et des souvenirs pleins la tête. Et merci pour la petite attention pour l'anniversaire surprise de mon mari dans la chambre ❤️🥰

Absolutely beautiful resort and one of the best stays of our trip through Tunisia. The villas are spacious, beautifully designed and exceptionally clean, with a perfect combination of luxury and the desert atmosphere. The location is amazing — right next to the Sahara, yet surrounded by palm trees and a beautiful pool area.

The only thing that could be improved is the breakfast, which was a little disappointing compared to the rest of the experience.

Wunderschöne Anlage, ganz toller Bungalow, sehr hübsch eingerichet, toller Service, alle Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich, schöne Atmosphäre, sehr reichhaltiges und leckeres Frühstück, Bungalow sehr großzügig vom Platz, hat alles wunderbar gepasst, kann man nur empfehlen.

Möbel beim privaten Pool etwas gar einfach

Unbeschreiblich- man muss es erlebt haben. Das freundliche Personal, die Sauberkeit, das tolle Frühstück. Das Hammam. Diese Ruhe !Wir haben unsere Villa nur sehr ungern wieder verlassen und kommen sicher wieder.

Es gab nichts zu bemängeln.Bitte alles so beibehalten, wie wir es erlebt haben.

Best hotel we have ever stayed

Magnifique expérience. Personnel aux petits soins pour vous. Amabilité, disponibilité concernant chacun des membres du personnel que nous avons côtoyés durant notre séjour. Propreté de la villa, chambre spacieuse, literie confortable, soucis du détail apporté chaque jour dans notre villa (roses, pétales de roses sur le lit, chaussons et lit préparés avec goût et délicatesse) Espace wellness superbe, nous avons pu profiter d’un merveilleux massage relaxant (et salon de coiffure pour moi), infrastructures magnifiques (hammam, salle de sport avec du matériel haut de gamme, piscine intérieure chauffée…). Petit-déjeuner copieux, varié et délicieux… servis chaleureusement par le personnel du Residence Douz, qui ont le souci du détail concernant le service, quel professionnalisme… Bravo à toute l’équipe ! Piscine: top, spacieuse… Nous avions réservé un private dinner. Tout était au-delà de nos attentes… ambiance berbère sur le rooftop. Service impeccable !

Seul petit point négatif: les transats qui ne sont pas modifiables et donc moins confortables

Ik heb een heel fijn verblijf gehad. Het hotel was ontzettend schoon en hygiënisch en overal hing een heerlijke, frisse geur. Dat gaf meteen een verzorgde en luxe indruk. Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en betrokken, maar tegelijkertijd heel professioneel. Ze waren attent en behulpzaam zonder opdringerig te zijn en gaven je alle ruimte en rust om van je verblijf te genieten. Ik verbleef hier twee nachten en had graag langer willen blijven, maar ik moest helaas weer terug. Ik zou dit hotel zeker aanraden en kom graag nog eens terug.

De kamers waren erg mooi, schoon en sfeervol ingericht. We waren daar erg tevreden over. Wel vonden we dat de bedden en vooral de kussens wat tegenvielen. In verhouding tot de rest van de accommodatie hadden we daar meer comfort van verwacht.

The tranquility and peacefulness of this location are truly exceptional. The staff consistently goes above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience for all guests. My only regret is that the two days spent here were insufficient; a minimum stay of three days is highly recommended. The spa and indoor pool facilities are undoubtedly a hidden treasure. This destination is an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to Tunisia.

A beautiful hotel in the desert with great design and stunning standalone rooms. The breakfast was varied and excellent. The team was highly accommodating; they served breakfast 30 minutes early to fit our early departure schedule. I was also very impressed by the prompt golf cart pick-up service. Unfortunately, high winds prevented us from having the planned desert dinner, but I imagine it would have been a wonderful experience.

The staff needs better language training, as their English and French were quite basic. Our dinner experience was compromised by a large corporate event that occupied the main dining room. We were seated in a smaller room where the service was slow and flawed, although the food was good. Additionally, the lights in the reception area were flickering, and the receptionist struggled to understand me when I reported the issue. In summary, it is a beautiful hotel with great potential, but the service needs refinement. PS: The pool area in the spa was very slippery and quite dangerous.

C’est simple, j’ai tout aimé!!! l’hôtel était parfait. Le personnel était parfait, la gentillesse et l’amabilité était au rendez-vous.. je recommence cette hôtel si vous avez envie de passer un excellent moment dans la détente et le luxe.. le petit déjeuner juste extraordinaire! Contrairement à certains messages dans les avis je m’attendais à quelque chose de négatif, il y a beaucoup de choix en sucré et en salé. le restaurant de l’hôtel est très bon également, les plats traditionnels étaient excellent.. je suis quelqu’un qui voyage beaucoup et c’est rare de trouver un cadre et un service impeccable. Beautiful location and buildings. Room at very luxury level. Pool amazing and nice to have shade in the pool. Amazing breakfast. Staff very helpful even if sometimes it feels like a bit too much attention.

Strange to take golf carts around, but perhaps makes sense when it’s really hot. Not clear how much dinner costs and I didn’t want to risk finding out when it was too late. We were told we had hammam for one hour only to find out that actually it was only for 20 mins. Not enough info provided except several times being told the number to call if you need help but you’re not always in your room and able to call. Cocktail at the pool was quite terrible and very expensive, i wish we were told about the priced beforehand. Not being fully informed takes away from the relaxing experience.

Rooms are amazing - we had the basic one but it was huge , beautiful and very clean. The staff were so lovely! The spa was also incredible.

Lacked a bit of vibe/ atmosphere. No live music or entertainment in the evenings (no board games). The pool area was a bit lacklustre… no towels or umbrellas out. The pool bar shut and pool service was slow. The menu also didn’t show what the food was in each dish so was hard to order.

Staff not trained properly, too slow in everything, waiter took the order and 15 min after another person comes with the waiter and takes the order again then 40 min after food comes, they offer to take it to my villa, I arrive to the villa and food not there, called reception they said it will take 45 min to prepare the food, I said food was already ready before I leave to my villa and your colleague was meant to bring it, I had to wait another 30-40 min for someone to bring the food that was ready more than 1h ago. At check in we ask the guy how to put the heating he presses some buttons and says it’s on, we come back to the room after 4h and it’s still cold, turned out he doesn’t even know how to operate the heating. If a hotel charges premium price the service needs to follow.

If you are heading to Douz, this is definitely the nicest option for accommodation. I am not really a resort person, and would have preferred a more intimate boutique Dar, but if you are into resort-style accommodation, you will be delighted! The grounds, rooms, and amazing breakfast are very luxurious.

Nicest of Douz hotels options, located in shared "tourist zone". Our suite was very spacious, and the furniture and decorations were great. Everyone liked the dinner there. The hotel-arranged camel walk was a big success. Breakfast was opulent and generally staff were helpful

Our principal issues were around our group suite. First, there was an unreasonable number of flies -- I killed four in different parts of my bedroom but couldn't get at least a couple more. The adjoining bathroom had another half-dozen -- I gave up after killing a couple there. Second, we found the lights entirely unmanageable. Among the five of us sharing the suite, no-one could figure out how to make the bedrooms entirely dark without hitting master switches for the entire suite. So folks reading and folks showering had their lights all turned off by folks in different bedrooms at opposite sides of the suite. (And why should each room have a kill switch to the other room's lights?) There were a few more minor issues as well -- the coffee maker which immediately leaked the water put into it. Staff that, when swapping this out for a working pot, left the tray behind with the half-inch of leaked water. and so on. Our individual stay would be rated a bit lower, but I am assuming that the flies and perhaps other issues were due to our particular room not having been used recently. Not relevant to our rating but... Front staff seemed a bit lost; no-one there on Sunday seemed to know we had a camel expedition arranged (although the weekday staff had in fact taken care of things). Upon checkout, staff asked "did you enjoy your stay?" When the response was 'it was disappointing', there was no followup question ("How so?") but a silence, followed by "here's our QR code to fill out a TripAdvisor review." (But we were, earlier, able to get good directions for a gas station and to send extra money to our camel drivers.)

Parfait petit déjeuner digne d'un 5 étoiles

Location is great, right at the doorstep of the Sahara. The villa are spacious and well furnished - the spa is also great, combining a well-equipped fitness center and an amazing Hammam. Food and service are great, coherent with the standard of such hotel (i.e. above the Tunisian' standards).

the property is well-located, albeit villa 12 is just next to the road and the place used by quad throughout the day, which is triggering some noise. Also, while the interior of the villa is super clean, the outside is of a different kind - we went thought the stair and up to the roof top... which is obviously not a space we are supposed to visit. That's a shame, as enjoying some view from the rooftop of the villa is a nice experience.
