Room and bath room were not very clean but old, and cold. Very steep and uncomfortable stairway leading to e room under the roof. Breakfast was very limited. Each 2 slices of bread, with jam and a slice of cheese. Owner did as if he was offering the best breakfast one could wish.

Na een foutje van ons bij het boeken heb ik de gastheer opgebeld met de vraag of we met onze hond mochten overnachten en, na de bevestiging dat het een hele rustige hond was, werd dit toegestaan. Dankjewel van ons drietjes!
Een elektrisch vuurtje in een badkamer met centrale verwarming was een beetje een tegenvaller.

Accueil un peu expéditif à l'arrivée (peu d'infos reçues), contrastant avec celui au petit-déjeuner.... Serviette de bain un peu rêche pour moi Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas un sèche-cheveux à disposition

Un accueil un peu froid. L’équipement de la chambre est vieillot et spartiate 1 essuie par personne, du savon pour les mains mais pas de gel douche, etc… Les lits grinçaient à chaque mouvement. Le déjeuner est spartiate lui aussi: calculé au minimum pour chacun.

Hôte toujours très accueillant et sans "chichi " tout comme sa maison ( ce qui me convient parfaitement) . Notez que contrairement à ce qui est annoncé sur le site , le petit déjeuner est inclus dans le prix de la location !

The journey to get there felt like a small adventure in itself, but from the moment I arrived, I felt warmly welcomed and at ease. The surrounding nature is beautiful and very quiet, making it a perfect place to slow down and breathe. The host was kind and thoughtful, offering a warm presence without being intrusive, which I really appreciated. This was not just a place to stay for the night, but a place that will stay in my heart. I will always remember how this place made me feel. I highly recommend Orval16 to solo travelers or anyone looking for a calm, meaningful, and peaceful stay. 今回の一人旅で Orval16 に滞在しましたが、本当に特別な体験でした。 この場所に一人でたどり着くまでの道のり自体が、ちょっとした旅のように感じられましたが、到着した瞬間から温かく迎えられていると感じました。 周囲は自然に囲まれていてとても静かで、気持ちをゆっくり落ち着かせるのにぴったりの場所です。 ホストのもてなしはとても温かく、でも干渉しすぎることはなく、その距離感がとても心地よかったです。 ここは「ただ寝るための場所」ではなく、長く心に残る場所になりました。 一人旅の方や、静かで穏やかな時間を求めている方に、ぜひおすすめしたい宿です。

N'étant pas l'utilisateur des lieux, je n'ai eu aucun retour négatif des 6 personnes logées à cet endroit que du contraire !

None of the windows in the single room could be opened so it felt a bit claustrophobic and too warm. The shower drain was clogged.

Be careful with your head if you're tall and stay in an attic room as they are nice and comfy but you can bump your head.

Reviewed Feb 6, 2025Etienne was a very welcoming host and Orval16 was in the perfect place for us. In the depths of winter, it was nice to have a log fire in the breakfast room and the whole breakfast experience was pleasant. The bedroom heating worked very well.
Etienne has only recently taken over this business and he still has much work to do on décor and comfort. The bed had no night stands, electric plugs or bedside lamps.

Reviewed May 26, 2024We went to the village specifically to visit the Orval Abbey. The location was superb in relation to that goal. Our host, Etienne, was a very kind man and we had a lovely chat over breakfast. Breakfast was the standard fare of breads and cheeses and were quite nice. At night, it was quiet, eerily quiet. Etienne allowed us to stow our things while we went on a tour and gave us a ride back to the train station, so we could avoid the infrequent bus. That was above and beyond the scope of his host responsibilities and it was truly appreciated. As a guesthouse in the middle of nowhere, Belgium, it was everything we needed. I don't know if I'll ever get back, but if I do, I'll check to see if this place is available.
