Great location on NC500 yet quiet. Fabulous room, wonderful hosts with tremendous local knowledge. Delicious breakfast with plenty of choice. Field to walk our dog and plenty of parking.

Pensa a qualcosa che possa servirti in vacanza e qui la troverai! C'è davvero tutto. L'ospitalità è eccezionale e casalinga. Per la colazione sono disponibili anche soluzioni per le intolleranze!

Posizione perfetta per l’esplorazione dei punti di interesse della costa, traghetti per le Orkney a poca distanza, castello di Mey dietro l’angolo. Colazione eccezionale per qualità e varietà delle materie prime. Host gentilissimi e accoglienti, ci hanno fatti sentire come a casa.

Sehr gemütliche Zimmer, super Lage um auf eine Fähre nach Orkney zu gelangen, sehr ruhig, Hunde willkommen und das Frühstück war auch gut.

Tutto perfetto, camera molto confortevole e host veramente gentile e disponibile. Colazione super, a 5 minuti dal traghetto per le isole Orcadi. Letto molto comodo.

We enjoyed our one night stay at The Hawthorns. Great breakfast and the couple who own the Hawthorns are very friendly and can't do enough for you. It is very relaxed and not at all pretentious Ideal location for Castle Mey and John O Groats

Nothing really. It was ideal for our one night stay. I guess some up dating is needed but the couple are looking to retire so new owners will do that. All the facilities worked well and the beds were comfortable and it was a very homely and welcoming stay.

The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming. We got there and was glad to learn there is also a living room for guests to use which gave us more space to spread out and watch a movie comfortably. It really felt like home. as well as a microwave, fridge etc which was all handy while travelling with little children. Bed were comfortable too. The highlight was the breakfast in the morning. Homemade amazing breakfast! They even packed us what we didn’t manage to finish for the onward journey. Thank you!! Would definitely recommend.

The room was so heavily labelled with instructions that it was not relaxing or comfortable. The staff were friendly but spent far too long explaining things that it made us feel stressed; we felt that the staff were too intrusive. They told us so many things but weren’t at all interested in us and our journey; they didn’t ask us anything at all! The bathroom was the smallest and most basic we’ve ever been in and the linen/decor in the room were very basic for a deluxe room. It was very cluttered with cables and unnecessary/unattractive bits of equipment.

The room was really comfortable and well equipped and the breakfast was delicious! We were also 10mns from the ferry departure in Gill's Bay and that was what we were looking for! Also at breakfast choose the spot next to the window to see the birds have breakfast at the same time as you.

The WiFi didn't work so well but no bother for one night.

Nice B&B in the beautiful Scottish countryside. The owner was very friendly and helpful, offering great recommendations for local attractions and activities. The breakfast was excellent. We had a lovely stay and would happily return.

They also had rags and oil in the hallway for bikers to use as well as a bathroom stool that could be used if required by any of the rooms

Buena ubicación en la ruta NC-500. Habitación muy cómoda y totalmente equipada, con muchos detalles. Anfitriones muy agradables y atentos. Desayuno espectacular.

Camere carine ad accoglienti molto ampie. Da fuori sembra piccolo ma una volta entrati abbiamo notato molte camere e la nostra era davvero grande. I titolari veramente gentili ci hanno accolto con molto calore. E già nei giorni prima si erano prestati per prenotarci ristorante visto la difficoltà della posizione a nord. Colazione ottima su prenotazione della sera prima.

Solo la doccia un po’ scomoda da azionare con interruttore esterno, ma credo sia la normativa inglese che non permette interruttori all’interno del bagno e la loro struttura ha questa particolarità ma che non é un reale problema.

Beautiful location, bed was like a marshmallow slept like a baby! Excellent thought into every detail in the room, lots of toiletries , sockets and a mini fridge! Especially delighted with the supplies for my dog- A bed!, towel, bowl, treats and a TOY!! So kind. Also great space to walk my dog .

Toffe locatie om het noorden van Scotland te verkennen. Goede propere kamers met proper sanitair. Rijkelijk ontbijt met keuze uit verschillende opties, je vraagt het maar en je krijgt het. Eén van onze medepassagiers die allergenen heeft kreeg aangepaste voeding. Een salon/zithoek is aanwezig waar de gasten zich kunnen ontspannen, wij konden er s'avonds kaarten. Zeer vriendelijke eigenaren.

Onze badkamer was een badkamer voor mindervaliden. Alles was er netjes en al het nodige was aanwezig. Klein minpuntje was dat bij het douchen er wel overal water was doordat het gordijn niet alles tegenhoud en er dus water tot onder de wc liep en je hierdoor natte voeten had. Lage lavabo aangepast voor rolstoelgebruikers.

The b&b doesn't do an evening meal so if you are going to dine out you need to book in advance as there aren't many nearby dining establishments to select from.

Very clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the garden at the back and was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very good, continental and Scottish cooked breakfast. We can recommend the Hawthorns B&B and would stay here if passing this way again.

Rien à redire...si ce n'est...qu'en Écosse, les prix sont très élevés. Ici, par comparaison avec d'autres logements, le rapport qualité prix est...meilleur.

The location was great with on-site parking available. The room was very clean and well appointed. Our host Graeme and Eileen were very accommodating and provided a superb breakfast.

Good location to explore the coast ( NC500) or a good overnight to use the ferry to Orkney. Nicely decorated room with comfortable beds, clean and warm bathroom, excellent breakfast. Very friendly and helpful hosts. It is our second stay and we will stay here again when traveling in this area

Stunning views and very quiet. Clean, comfortable and very welcoming, equipped with everything, made to feel very welcomed on arrival at the property and throughout our stay. Our dog was also very welcome.

Amazing stay! The views were great and it was a perfect location on the NC500. The hosts were so accommodating and greeted us as soon as we arrived, they showed us around and made a fuss of our dogs (which we love - they are our babies). It was very dog friendly with dog treats, toys for each of our dogs and dog bowls/poo bags all provided, every detail had been thought about. The room was very spacious and again every detail had been thought about in the room, it had everything you could possibly need. It really was a home from home feeling including a communal living area. The breakfast was amazing, 10/10, you actually get the choice of what you would like on your cooked breakfast and you order this the night before, you also get a selection of continental in the morning too including fresh fruit and yoghurts. We highly recommend and hope to return one day!

Frühstück war super. Am Vortag wurde gefragt, was man haben möchte. Zimmer mit Aussicht. Riesen Fenster... Sehr hilfsbereite Vermieter, die im Vorfeld auch Tips bzgl. Abendessen gaben Da es sehr abgelegen lag, wardies sehr hilfreich und zuvorkommend.

We booked two rooms, both of them very roomy with lots of space to spread out and with all the conveniences you might want, including a little fridge, coffee maker, seating area with comfy chairs, a wardrobe to hang your clothes, and even slippers. Our friendly hosts, Graeme and Eilean, explained all the nuances of operating the shower, lights, and other electrical devices, and there was also a very detailed welcome kit with further explanations and tips. They both went over the top to make us feel welcome and ensure we had everything we needed. The B&B is located in a rural setting, but is only a short drive to restaurants and pubs. Breakfast was an absolute feast!

We really enjoyed our stay at The Hawthorns! The room was clean and not only furnished with all one may need for a shorter or longer stay, but also with a few gadgets designed to make ones life easier. Breakfast was really nice and freshly cooked and Graeme gave us a lot of useful information, before and after our arrival. We hghly recommend and we would definitely stay here again when we would take the NC500 again.

Es hat alles gepasst. Eine sehr gemütliche Unterkunft mit herrlicher Aussicht auf das Umland. Sie liegt perfekt, um Ausflüge an der Nordküste zu unternehmen. Die Gastgeber sind sehr nette Menschen, die einen herzlich willkommen heißen. Es hat mir an nichts gefehlt und ich würde jederzeit wieder hinreisen.
