The villa is absolutely beautiful, there is a definite wow factor as soon as you enter the property. The main road runs down the side of the villa but it’s such an oasis of calm you really don’t notice it. The main bedroom suite is upstairs with a roof terrace that looks out over the ramparts and sea which is perfect for people watching and watching the sunset.

The bed in main bedroom is very hard.

Would have liked showers in all of the bathrooms as one only had a bath. Step access to pool tricky if you aren’t very mobile.

Loved everything about this property! A wonderful jewel box. Historic property. Wonderful chef. Helpful staff. Ice cold AC. Perfectly trimmed bougainvillea shading the private plunge pool. Views of the fort wall from the large patio. Easy walking to all the fort shopping and restaurants.

Not a thing wrong.

The villa was superb. The main bedroom was particularly lovely and the location was unbeatable. Sujee was delightful and looked after us so well.

The location, room decoration and design

The cleaning, the pool was unclean, we asked for privacy but the staff member keeps showing every time, also we asked about some flowers and cake to celebrate one of our family members birthday they let us pay for it with out telling us before it’s extra charge.. usually in all hotels we stayed was complementary

Fabulous villa

The accommodation was excellent, and the host was very attentive, the location very good. If you're a family of 6 then this is the place for you, if you're travelling as couples then 4 people is the ideal number. Breakfast is excellent and take advantage of the cook to prepare meals in, that said there are some very good restaurants nearby Mango Houe very good.

I wanted to give the property a higher score but feel that I need to explain a couple of aspects which were lacking from pervious reviews. We travelled as a group of six, three couples and what's not clear from the photos is the location of the rooms with respect to the common area. The main room upstairs is the only way to access the rooftop area, so for the two couples downstairs you're invited to the balcony. The property lists three ensuites but the two rooms downstairs are adjacent to the common area. The larger room has a queen bed and its comfortable but the ensuite whilst large has a bath no shower and the proximity to the common area offers little privacy (i.e that was a double flush) The third room downstairs is small and the ensuite shower is barely adequate. The only other detraction was the fact there seemed to be a cast of people just dropping in through the front door, they were nice enough but some were introduced as property managers some were there to change the water bottle, the property comes with a breakfast which is very good but the cook hangs around in the kitchen eating leftovers.

Everything was perfect, location, villa but what really made it exceptional was the staff- they went above and beyond to make this a holiday to remember for a lifetime! Can't thank them enough - 🙏🏼

That we couldn't stay longer...

De ligging van de stadsvilla is fantastisch met uitzicht op de stadsmuur en park waar kinderen vliegeren en cricket spelen. Het huis in koloniale stijl is enorm ruim, met een leuke plunge pool. Sujet, de huisjongen zorgt ervoor dat het je aan niets ontbreekt en verzorgt iedere ochtend een heerlijk ontbijt.

Prachtige villa, uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Zij zorgen ervoor dat je je binnen no-time thuisvoelt. Villa is geschikt voor 6 personen (3 slaapkamers). Perfecte locatie met prachtig uitzicht. Mooi schoon. Helemaal in koloniale stijl. 3 Nachten verbleven met z’n vieren maar voelde korter. Verreweg onze beste accommodatie in 3 weken Sri Lanka. Wij vonden het het geld wel waard.

Ik kan niets bedenken. Als ik dan toch iets moet noemen is dat 1 van de slaapkamers beneden een beetje muf rook en overdag wat extra ventilatie nodig had. Maar dit was voor ons geen probleem.

We had a great stay at the Villa, it was in a perfect location to explore Galle, the staff were excellent and friendly, nothing was too much for them. The breakfast was delicious and huge, and the small plunge pool was so refreshing during the hottest part of the day.

Wow....what a wonderful experience. The property was beautiful - the decor was absolutely gorgeous. But it was our hosts that made this a truly memorable experience. From Nimali and Junie arranging everything prior to arrival - the communication was excellent. I asked prior to coming if we could arrange something special for our friends birthday - they could not have been more helpful and willing to get something sorted - and the birthday surprise they created gave memories that will last a lifetime. They even arranged a massage for us during our stay - which was also great. Then when we arrived - Sujee and Lahiru were waiting and gave us the warmest welcome - wonderful smiles, cold towels and a lovely cold drink. Sujee never stopped the entire time we were there - making sure the property was clean, welcoming, ensuring it always looked great - whether that be lighting, sorting the window blinds, lighting incense sticks, getting drinks. Always on hand to support with anything we needed. Lahiru made us such wonderful food - a special birthday meal the first night - was fantastic - and even talked me through some of the dishes he was making. Followed the next morning with a celebratory breakfast. Wonderful people and a wonderful property - would highly recommend. Thanks all for a great stay

A beautifully furnished villa that is spacious and comfortable. The kind of place you'd see featured in an interiors magazine. Located in a quiet street within the fort, just steps away from the shops and restaurants. The service from the onsite staff was friendly and faultless.

Nothing really to dislike. If I was going to say anything, it would be to suggest the addition of cooling units in the communal area. All the bedrooms have a/c but the living area only has ceiling fans so it can get quite warm. This wouldn't stop me staying here again though.

Where can I start . The property was much more than what we expected . We just loved the location ( right inbetween the main fort area - everything was just a two min walk away ) of the place . We loved the cleanliness. We loved how welcoming the staff was . The warmth and care by the caretaker sujee and the limited but scrumptious breakfast by the chef . The manager Nimali and the caretaker sujee -were so prompt in answering our queries and helping us out when needed .

This is a great place to stay - ideal location in the fort, and it is absolutely beautiful (it looks good in the pics, but even they don’t do justice to how gorgeous it is). So comfortable and wonderful food - the breakfast in particular was great. The sunset views are incredible. I could go on. Special note for the staff as well - Nimali was super helpful and responsive ahead of travelling to Galle, and then from the moment you arrive you are looked after incredibly well by the wonderful Lahiru and Sugee. One thing to note - the location means you do get some noise (this is a living town after all). The green space opposite the villa is used by school children in the morning and cricket in the early evening. We loved it, but worth knowing

Beautiful villa. Great house staff. Fantastic location. Only slightly down side is that there is a lot of street noise as it’s close to a road. That didn’t bother us too much and i would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful old building within the fort. Lovely communal space and refreshing plunge pool. Very good breakfast especially the banana pancakes.

Chandolu is a fantastic villa situated inside the old fort of Galle. We just spent five days there, exploring the sites and enjoying southern Sri Lanka. The villa is beautifully presented and located in a fairly quiet residential street but just a stroll from the restaurants and shops. There are three ensuite bedrooms, two downstairs next to the lovely courtyard and plunge pool, and a massive master suite upstairs with its own terrace overlooking the fort walls, a great location for sunset. However best of all was Sujee who took care of us in the villa during our stay and always greeted us with a smile. The team at Chandolu can also organise excursions and we had a great elephant safari to Udawalawe National Park which was well worth the 4am start! In addition they can arrange transport to/from Colombo Airport which is around 2 hours away. Overall a great stay and we cannot wait to go back!

Absolutely nothing.

Loved everything about our stay. The villa photos on the site don't even compare to reality ..perfect the best place we have ever stayed at ..nothing compares ...what we loved the location, the amenities..all perfect ...but what makes it ..the staff...nothing is too much trouble ..both Sujee the house manager and Lahiru the most excellent chef were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. We originally thought we would eat out in the town but after tasting Lahiru's talents we ate in...delicious every meal. I would recommend especially for families as you can have pretty much anything you want from European food for the non adventurous to more local food and if you love seafood ..well picked up in the morning fresh from the market and only costs a minimal charge to cook and then cost of ingredients. We had lobster, prawns crab..all fresh and delicious. I Never leave reviews but have to share this time. Also need to mention Nimali who organises all the bookings which were seamless and also popped in for a visit and had a few suggestions on additional services ...thank you is all i can say ..best holiday ever ....special shout put to Tommy resident guard dog ...we will be back and we will save some bacon for you gentle boy 💖

Quaint and beautiful. Feels like a perfect private residence in a quiet part of Galle fort . Accessible to the main streets. The home is aesthetically pleasing and the caretaker Sujee is a great guy.

The pool feels makes you feel little bit short changed but if you aren’t looking to swim it’s fine. It’s ok for a dip.

Amazing property. The interior and exterior were immaculately designed and presented. Sujee was so helpful with everything we needed and the pool was a perfect respite after a day of exploring Galle Fort. Would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Galle that would like their own private oasis.

Nothing, it was flawless.

We have stayed in some beautiful places, but this has to be one of the best. It is a great location, right in the centre of the Fort, walking distance to all the bars, restaurants and shops, and just a short tuktuk to Unawatuna beach, and you get a perfect view of the sunset from the terrace. It is so spacious with 2 bedrooms and ensuites downstairs and a large suite and bathroom upstairs. all beautifully decorated. The outdoor pool was perfect, it is nice and deep so you can really cool off, and fresh towels were laid out on the sunbeds. We were welcomed at the door and nothing was too much trouble. We asked for lunch and dinner to be prepared for us one night and it was all cooked fresh and was really delicious and worked out very reasonable. We were only due to stay for 2 nights but changed our plans, as they luckily had an extra night available, and as soon as we walked in we knew we needed to stay longer. I couldn't recommend this enough, you won't be disappointed.

It was a wonderful start to our holiday in Sri Lanka. The accommodation was beautiful, the breakfast was delicious and the service was perfect.

We loved everything about this place. Sujee was so helpful and Lahiru’s food was amazing! Everything made it feel like we are at home. We will definitely go back and we cannot recommend this place enough.

Everything about our stay was excellent! The location inside the Fort, and the authentic charm and beauty of the property, cannot be beaten. As a group of six friends, there was plenty of space across the 3 bedrooms, and the upstairs master bedroom opening on to the large terrace was stunning (including the view of the Fort walls). The communication and service from booking till the very of our stay, including from the live-in caretaker Sujee, was flawless!

The villa was exceptional! It was a very spacious villa which was luxurious and peaceful. Its a perfect place to relax your mind and get out the busy life. The Hospitality of Sujee and the rest of the team is beyond expectations. This is a very unique villa in the heart of the Galle Fort. There's nothing to complain, we loved and enjoyed our stay and wished we could stay a little more longer.
