Reviewed Aug 20, 2026Fab location and was a lovely cosy bach stay by the beach. Great halfway point to meet family. Comfy beds and super warm with heat pump and electric blankets. Views and walks around were perfect, lots of things nearby despite being remote, walks down to the yellow eyed penguins and baby seals near Moeraki and awesome lunch at Moeraki tavern. Exploring Oamaru steam punk precinct and seeing little blue penguins was a highlight. Was also just nice to relax with a book and glass of wine. Would definitely stay again.
Bathroom could do with a deep clean some as there was some moss and mould, understand its a holiday bach but bathroom was super basic. The sleepout was fine and had a heater but the sliding door needs to be fixed as it was stuck often and difficult to open and close, and took ages to get it to lock. Set up could sleep 6 but a very small kitchen/living would be a tight squeeze 3 adults was ok, if summer lots of outdoor deck space for extra people.

Didn't play any but loved the dvd collection,games & book selection.
Also best fish and chips at the "coast Cafe in Kakanui.
Thank you for allowing our dog children to stay with us.

There was no visible number on the house. No letter box. Broken step was a little dangerous
Classic little kiwi batch for a weekend getaway. Kitchen is well equipped, sunny deck which is gated and safe to bring your doggy. Great views.
Slight confusion at start of stay with checking in however host was very accommodating. Would be great if large backyard had a gate so dog could roam around and explore easily.

Private surrounding
An outdoor table on the big deck to sit outside and enjoy a morning coffee or meal on while taking in the Awsum view . There is plenty of seating there but it’s too low to enjoy the view . And we didn’t want to waste a moment of the view .

Reviewed Oct 10, 2025The location was perfect, such a great view and very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, and the heat pump provided just the right amount of cosiness. I wish I had more time there...maybe next time.
I did find the lock box quite tricky to open, but it was dark and I had been travelling all day.

Reviewed Feb 20, 2025Such a gorgeous little crib . We loved eveything! It was well maintained , exceptionally clean and just perfect for a weekend away. Everything was there that you needed . The bed was incredibly comfy and the views out to the beach from the kitchen just amazing. We loved that it exemplified what a crib use to be like before pople built big houses as a holiday home.

Nothing..just gorgeous. I guess if it was wet it might be a little small if you were 2 x couple staying but perfect for 1 couple with children.
The location and the views are unbeatable. The communication with the host was very good, we had enough space and we really appreciated the washing machine (even without dryer).
The bed was a bit tight and it was a bit challenging as you have to take your trash with you and we did not know where to throw it. We ended up travelling half a day with the trash in our car

Reviewed Jan 10, 2025The location was superb and the views were stunning. The bach was small but utterly charming and homely. It was well equipped with everything we needed and the garden and deck were perfect for sitting out in the evening and watching the sun set. We were blessed with the weather. We found lots of beautiful paua shells washed up on the beach.

Great location, with superb views. Well equiped kitchen. Heat pump/aircon. Plenty of linen (e.g. spare towels). Bed comfortable. Owner kept in touch prior to visit, and was immediately contactable when I encountered a problem.
Lock box was set too low, making it awkward for an older person with bad hips and knees to view the code clearly. I had to phone the owner to find out how to use the electric oven due to a timer over-riding the operation (I suggest attaching instructions above appliance). (ps timers on stoves should be banned - just not necessary at all).

Reviewed Nov 3, 2024What a gem! The Bach was perfect, and in keeping with the era it was built. I wouldn't change a thing. It was clean, comfortable bed, everything you could want. Good instructions on how to turn everything on/off when arriving and leaving.What a great view to wake up to and a short walk to the river and beach. Next time, I'll stay a bit longer.

Reviewed Sep 23, 2024Although the batch is very compact, everything had a place and it was easy to find what i was looking for. The bedding and towels where amazing!!! Double bed in main bedroom was very comfy. Kitchen had everything i needed and more. Amazing deck and very clean tidy property.
Only thing I would have liked is a long mirror, maybe stuck on the back of a bedroom or bathroom door.
