Surf'n Lanka - Surf School

The location was super convenient, very close to the beach, train station, cafes, restaurants, beach bars… Great for a surf escape and chill. The owners are incredibly nice people, always taking care of you. During my week-long stay, the wasnt a single problem that would demand solution. The owner was very generous and allowed me to check out later.

SurfnLanka felt like a home to us in Sri Lanka. As a solo mum travelling with my 7 year old daughter, we started our Sri Lanka trip at SurfnLanka, and booked for 10 days. We ended up staying for over a month!! And will be back annually moving forward as I can not rate this place highly enough! Manju, his eldest son Roshie, his family (and the other guests - many of whom were families who had returned to SurfnLanka many times) made us feel so at home. As the original surf school in Weligama, SurfnLanka has a stunning position right on the beach in Weligama. As non-surfers from Australia (used to massive swells and sharks!), my goal was for my daughter and I to learn to surf! Our teachers from SurfnLanka were brilliant, and a special shout out to Aji - who supported me to overcome huge fears and get out into the line-up on a hard board! Aji is a highly skilled technical teacher, but more importantly, he had the ability to connect with each individual on a personal level and meet them where they were at each lesson, with no judgement, just care. This is a rare gift in a teacher. Thank you Aji, for gifting me the joy of surfing. Manju is currently completing renovations to the original accomodations and the new rooms and unfolding plans for a restaurant and rooftop space are absolutely stunning and insane value for money - like being in a luxxe villa! AC, breakfast, safety, location, proximity to restaurants, surf options... all 10/10! Thank you for everything Manju, Rohsie, Aji, Gana, Aunties and family, and see you soon SurfnLanka!!

Location was good. Most of the staff was friendly and spoke English.

The curtains in the room were see through, resulting in lack of privacy and waking early due to the sunlight. Also, there was a window/airvent in the bathroom that could not be closed resulting in mosquitos and a cockroach entering the room.

The property was neat and clean, and in a very handy location by the beach front.

Manju and his family have lived in Weligama their whole lives which made my stay feel very authentic. The rooms are recently finished and very comfortable. AC works well and the hot water shower after a day of surfing was great. Breakfast made by Manju’s family was a nice touch and I was able to buy a present for my friend back home from his daughter’s hand made clothes shop at the front. The surf lessons I had were amazing too. Surfing improved out of site and got to spend good time with the instructors in down time just chilling out and chatting. My lesson with Manju’s son was a highlight!

Ich fand es super das der Weg zum Meer bedeutet einmal über die wenig befahrene Straße zu gehen und direkt dort zu sein. Die Zimmer sind neue und super modern eingerichtet. Mit Ventilator und Klimaanlage. Die Surfstunden waren super maximal zwei Schüler auf eine Lehrer. Essen war super lecker und alle sind super freundlich. Auch die Ausflüge zur Schlangen- und Schildkrötenfarm mit Besuch einer Zimtplantage war super organisiert. Ein sehr gelungener Tag. Auch der schuttel vom und zum Flughafen war super organisiert.

Heavy construction going on until 8pm all sorts of noise and bathroom window did not close which could cause privacy issues but didn't really affect me

This accomodation is in very good location. If you are surf fun or no, you can have nice time here. Very nice breakfast and very kind people working here. Now there is some reconstruction, but it wasn’t disturbing.

Über die Straße am Strand, mit eigener Surf Schule - sehr gute Surf Lehrer! Schönes Zimmer, ausreichend! gut gelegen, viele Lokale in der Nähe.

sehr hellhörig, sehr hohe Raumfeuchtigkeit, es roch immer etwas muffig - war aber mit der Klima-Anlage in den Griff zu bekommen. Im Hinterhof sind 2 Hunde dauerhaft eingesperrt, die haben nachts immer sehr herzzerreißend gejault 💔

Завтраки вкусные, можно выбрать между классическим завтраком с тостами и традиционным завтраком Шри ланки Расположение на высоте, лучше просто быть не может, близко очень много кофеен, ресторанов, в пешей доступности магазин. А серф школы прям через дорогу от отеля

Сейчас ведутся некоторые ремонтные работы, поэтому кому-то может быть шумно. Однако мне не сильно мешало, обычно это происходит с 9 утра до обеда, в это время можно посерфить, позавтракать, погулять

Very nice and calm space, cozy rooms with balcony, possibility of surf lessons just a few steps of the house with great instructors and kind and helpful host. My stay was spotless, highly recomend!

Pas d’occlusion complète des stores comme souvent au Sri Lanka

Sehr nette Singhalesische Familie, die jeden Gast besonders freundlich betreut. Die Familie betreibt auch eine Surfschule, die direkt auf der anderen Straßenseite zu finden ist. Dort bekommt man immer eine freie Sonnenliege kostenlos. Die Surflessons sind die besten, die ich je erlebt habe!

Manju und seine Familie und Personal haben uns sehr herzlich aufgenommen! Wir haben uns gut aufgehoben gefühlt und wurden immer gut beraten! Das Frühstück ist sehr lecker und Wünsche werden beachtet. Die Surfschule ist direkt gegenüber und es besteht die Möglichkeit sich über gute Surfspots beraten zu lassen, bzw. mit Manju surfen zu gehen.

Zentral und dennoch ruhig gelegen. Tagsüber derzeit leider noch laut, da in den Stockwerken über mir Baustelle war, wovon man aber nichts mitbekommt wenn man nicht gerade im Zimmer ist. Manju und sein Team waren total freundlich und ich habe mich für einen Surfkurs in der hauseigenen Surfschule entschieden. Mein Surflehrer Pasi war super und hat mir nach jeder Welle gezeigt, was ich besser machen kann und was gut war. Bei den benachbarten Surfschulen habe ich das nicht mitbekommen, dass den Schülern diese wertvollen Tipps gegeben wurden. Das Board war in einem Top-Zustand und ich kann die Surfschule nur wärmstens empfehlen. Man merkt, dass sie einem wirklich das Surfen beibringen wollen.

Super hébergement à Weligama. Toute l'équipe est très gentille et accueillante. On s'y sent très bien et on a envie de rester ! C'est parfait pour faire du surf car la maison est à quelques mètres de la plage. Je conseille vivement de prendre des cours de surf par le biais de leur école de surf. Les profs sont supers ! Je recommande !

Great place to stay in Weligama. Especially if you want to learn surfing, Manju and his team are the best experts. Within few days you will get to intermediate level and start enjoying it fully. Coming here definitely again!

We loved ladies who work there and who were preparing our breakfast every day, giving us an energy for morning surf. There is also a loundry option. Surf school and beach was just across the street, restaurant and shops are close and it s just 10 min by tuk tuk to Merisa. Everybody was so kind. We enjoyed our surf lessons, I made a great progress.

Room was a little dirty (dust on lamps and mosquito net). Once, when I didn't managed with bigger waves I was left alone in deep water by instructor who continuated lessons with others. I got the apologises but I lost lesson which I paid for and if something happened nobody would notice me sinking.

Great location! Opposite the beach with the wonderful surf school. We even extended our stay as loved it so much! Also a great free breakfast included.

Bed was a little small for us personally but other than that a 10/10

Right by the beach, there are cafes, restaurants nearby. We were walking everywhere. The owner and the surf instructors are all amazing!

It was waaaay too hot in the evening to sleep, we underestimated the missing AC, so it is partially on us.

Amazing location, they have their own surf school across the road right on the beach, so you can use their lounge chairs and relax or rent a board. The breakfast is also amazing, so much tropical fruit, eggs and tea, very filling. Host was really friendly and tried his best to ensure our stay was enjoyable.

There is no hot water for the shower, the wifi was very bad, sometimes it works downstairs but it does not reach the bedrooms at all, the pillows desperately need replacing, I changed the pillow case and inside they are mouldy and very lumpy.

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The location is perfect, especially for anyone into sports. It’s ideal for surfers – with great waves nearby and an excellent surf instructor. He really knows how to push you to the next level, especially if you're an intermediate or advanced surfer. The hotel is right by the beach, just a short walk across the road. The rooms are clean, modern, and very comfortable. We had a beautiful room with air conditioning, though we ended up only using the ceiling fan. The family and the entire staff are warm, welcoming, and really make you feel at home. We learned a lot about Sri Lanka, its culture, and the local way of life. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a mix of adventure and comfort!

great location, staff were all super friendly and helpful, the free breakfast was amazing, they also offered laundry service at a very fair price. sleeping without ac and only a fan surprisingly also wasn’t a problem at all! we extender our stay here, value for money ist just unbeatable.

Friendly staff, fresh breakfast with an open kitchen. Surf lessons available and our teacher was really nice and patient.

Staff had problems with English Property was not very clean and needs renovations. No cupboards to store luggage. AC is very much needed.

The staff was not very welcoming, no proper check in, we had to figure out everything by ourselfs. We were staying 5nights and noone ever came to clean, or brought toiletpaper, we had to ask for everything and often there was just noone there.

Outstanding location. The room was close to beach 100 ft but quiet.Room was large, good 🦟 nets, good bathroom with excellent shower. Excellent breakfast. Staff was great.

Oversight on my part but rooms do not have a/c which I felt I would have benefited from.
