Atulya Lake View Mirissa - Resort and Spa

A wonderful example of Sri Lankan hospitality! We were looking for a relaxing getaway and our stay here exceeded every expectation. The accommodation was spacious and incredibly comfortable, while the food was absolutely delicious. The beautiful views of the lake, combined with the refreshing ocean breeze, made this Bawa-inspired, charming hideaway the perfect setting to unwind. There was always something to enjoy, whether it was a game of chess or carrom, kayaking on the lake, or simply lounging by the pool and taking in the peaceful surroundings, with the beach only being a quick drive away. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the staff. Everyone was warm, friendly, and genuinely kind, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable, relaxing, and memorable. They made it feel like a true home away from home experience, even making sure the fruit we liked was available for breakfast. It was these thoughtful, personal touches that made all the difference. It was simply too lovely to leave. We will definitely return and highly recommend this vacation spot to anyone looking for an rejuvenating stay.

N/A.

Idyllically situated away from the business of coastal Mirissa with direct views out to the lagoon and spectacular sunsets. The property was clean, the room spacious as well as the bathroom - well equipped, comfortable and enjoyed the infinity pool.

Service was poorer compared to our other similar stays in Sri Lanka. Whilst eating dinner, one of the front of house staff was on a videocall to his family and then proceeded to show his family our family eating, orders were misunderstood for food and a takeaway breakfast was forgotten despite being offered/agreed. Overall, felt more of a home stay for its unprofessionalism rather than the price tag of an upmarket hotel.

Everything was excellent. The location and outlook over the garden and lake was beautiful and very peaceful. The staff were helpful and always available.

I stayed at Atulya Lake on my own and had a truly beautiful experience. The location is simply breathtaking, with stunning lake views that create an immediate sense of peace and calm. Waking up to that scenery each morning felt very special. The staff were exceptional. So warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. As a solo traveller, I felt very well looked after. Their care and hospitality made a real difference to my stay. The food was exceptional, delicious, fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Every meal was a pleasure, especially with those incredible views as a backdrop. The property was spotless throughout. My room was very clean and comfortable, and the whole environment felt serene and well maintained. There is a stunning temple nearby which I visited regularly, I also went kayaking a few times on the lake. A wonderful place for anyone looking for tranquillity, beautiful views, and heartfelt service. I would happily return.

There was an incident where I was bitten by a dog on the road of the property, the area is so rural and dogs not very familiar with foreigners. The staff were so helpful and they took me to the hospital where I had the shots. It’s nobody’s fault, it’s good to beware of this 🙂

Leider war das Personal sehr überfordert und konnte kaum englisch. Von SPA weit und breit gar nichts. Zimmerservice gleich null. Die Küche wohl die schlechteste in 3 Wochen in Sri Lanka . Schade, ein schöner Ort jedoch wird nichts daraus gemacht. Keine Empfehlung.

Preis Leistung stimmt überhaupt nicht

Great stay! Very nice view and great pool! Also very sweet staff :)

Great staff. Stunning location.

Poor breakfast for the price you pay

Our stay at the Athulya villa lake view was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived until our reluctant departure, every detail was perfect. The location offers a truly breathtaking view, and the sunsets were spectacular—a vibrant, unforgettable display of colors over the lake each evening. The villa itself was impeccably clean and absolutely gorgeous. The room felt both luxurious and welcoming. What truly elevated our experience, however, was the friendly and professional staff. Every single team member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed dedicated to making our stay exceptional. They handled every request promptly and with a smile, making us feel incredibly valued. We can't wait to return!

Sehr ruhige Lage am See. Personal war immer sehr aufmerksam.

Vimukthi and his colleagues all went above and beyond to make sure we were having the best time for our stay. As well as incredible local food, (best curry we ever had), and meanwhile having breakfast you could see animals in the garden - monkeys, big lizards and many birds. They took such good care of us. Helped us as well to book a trip to the Udawalawe national park, which we decided last minute before. And to top it all off, had an amazing masseuse which gave us the best massage in Mirissa/weligama (tried 3 others). Concluding, a beautiful hotel surrounded by nature and an amazing view - where you get treated with incredible hospitality and get to eat wonderful food!

There is nothing that we did not like to be mentioned.

Fantastic- simply gorgeous. View, pool, staff, room. Lovely.

Expensive but worth it. Stunning.

Peaceful place to relax away from the city. The accommodation has an amazing view of the lake. There is a resident kingfisher which visited daily & we also saw some monkeys in the trees & small squirrels running about. The boat trip around the lake for sunset is a must as you get to witness all the fruitbats take flight for the night from their trees. We booked our room option with breakfast included - you are required to order the evening before & give the time you want to eat. Staff are very helpful & always on hand if you need anything. The owner Malki, was also friendly & helpful, he also took us into Mirissa in his Tuk Tuk which is cheaper than the tourist Tuk Tuk’s  charge. Uber & Pick Me Are also available for less than the local Tuk Tuk, although you do need to let them know to avoid the narrow route to the villa. It's about a 10min ride to Mirissa, or you can walk in, which can take up to 40mins depending on your pace.

The single bed mattress was uncomfortable as it’s very thin compared to the double mattress – I would say it is suitable for a small child rather than an adult. WIFI & high-speed internet was a must whilst we travelled, as my niece needed to do some work on her laptop, however it was extremely sketchy & seemed to go off completely on an evening.

Removed from the hassle bussel of Marissa, a beautiful location looking onto the lake. Very friendly and accommodating staff providing good food and a clean environment to arranging quick transportation. Always ready to make a plan for you. Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. Pool is a gem. Definitely a place to return to

Atulya Villas Lake View is a truly magnificent destination that exceeded all my expectations. From the moment you arrive, the location alone takes your breath away. The villa offers a stunning, unparalleled view of the lake, creating an atmosphere of immediate tranquility and peace. The accommodations are just as impressive. The rooms are beautifully appointed—spacious, meticulously clean, and designed with a unique elegance. While they boast a charming historical decor, they absolutely felt modern and were equipped with every comfort, providing a perfect blend of old-world charm and contemporary luxury. Adding to the sense of escape, the on-location spa was truly exceptional. It was the perfect sanctuary for relaxation and definitely a highlight of our stay. What really elevates the experience is the service and the cuisine. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome and well-cared for from check-in to check-out. And the food was incredibly delicious! Every meal was a culinary delight, prepared with care and quality. Finally, you simply can't talk about Atulya Villas without mentioning the pool. It's fantastic, offering a refreshing and picturesque spot to relax, with the stunning lake view as a spectacular backdrop. It’s the perfect place to spend an afternoon. If you're looking for a beautiful, serene getaway with luxurious accommodations, excellent food, and a chance to truly unwind at an exceptional spa, Atulya Villas Lake View is an absolute must-visit.

Everything was perfect!

The view over the lake ftom the room and the pool. One of the best i have ever seen! (My photos cant really do it justice as the view deserves..) At sunset you can see fron there thousands of fruit bats flying out over the lake to go out to hunt elsewhere, impressive and amazing to see. Very new place, everything looked clean and with a nice mix between modern and traditional. Huge rooms. Huge … huge … bathroom! Nice beds. Friendly and helpfull staff. Great cook. Fresh pool. Calm and serene place. Lots of beautifull flowers and fruit trees in the garden. Good airco and muskito net. They also offer kayak rent and spa options like massages. I did a nice short kayak trip over the lake. I liked the massage i had from a friendly lady. Free parking.

Only minor things: It is a bit off the beaten track, so i found it handy to have my own transport. With a scooter it is not far at all from for example Mirissa. The pool is not big but it was clean and nice fresh. No or not many sunbeds in the garden, only some next to the pool.

Beautiful and peaceful location just a Little away from the city centre and beach but it was good for a peaceful stay. Huge rooms. Clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely kind and helping

All was well

beautiful location but further from the beach than expected. There was some ambiguity about whether breakfast was included or not - it wasn't clear enough on the site and the staff were unsure. So we missed out on the first day.

there wasn't enough privacy between the rooms. The access to the pool was directly in front of our room so we had to keep our curtains shut to avoid being seen! However, the rooms themselves were very gererous and comfortable

Extremely beautiful and quiet place

The Villa offers luxurious facilities in a very tranquil setting. Ideal place to get away from the hustle bustle of the city. Highly recommended for couple looking to spend quality time together. Planning to visit again in October.

We spent 5 unforgettable days. The Atulya Villas Lake View are even more beautiful than in the photos. Great airy architecture and the location is breathtaking. Surrounded by greenery with the most beautiful sunsets. From the great pool you could watch birds, monkeys, flying foxes, monitor lizards and chipmunks. The rooms and bathrooms are large and also offer a beautiful view. Chef Kavinda's food was a big highlight every morning and evening. Everything was very fresh and varied and tasted amazing to us all. The staff with Upatissa, Ruwan and Sampath, Amarasena are extremely friendly and welcoming and we, especially also our son, have made friends here. Upatissa has also a big knowledge about the nature and the area. We will be back.

We booked this accommodation at very short notice. We were delighted with the choice. One of the best we’ve made in a month in Lanka. We had a lot of fun. The first impression of the view over the lake was stunning. An evening boat trip was a bonus and great antidote to a day in busy Colombo. The comfortable rooms are tastefully decorated, the pool and garden are tranquil and well kept. A lot of care has been taken to make guests welcome. It’s very good value. The food was wonderful and the service friendly and efficient -everything was excellent.

The WiFi was flaky but it is quite rural so to expected?

Everything about this place was amazing! Large rooms and bathrooms with unbeatable views on the lagoon and the jungle, great decor and cleanliness, down to the delicious fragrances of the toiletries everything was top notch at Atulya Lake View. We enjoyed the pool immersed in nature and the breathtaking show of the bats flying over the lagoon at sunset, and especially the peace and quiet of the resort just five minutes away from the vibrant Mirissa Beach. Dinner was abundant and one of the most delicious we tasted in Sri Lanka. The best thing was the staff though: Vimukhti and the rest of the team did an amazing job at taking care of us always with a smile on their faces, we will never forget them and the great memories they helped us create!

Absolutely nothing, everything was way beyond our expectations!

Beautiful place surrounded by lush greenery and a sparkling lake which is part of the lagoon.Amazing view at 6.20pm of the Bats parade,as they fly out in search of food, from far end of the lagoon towards the land over the lake!A wonderful feeling that makes you a part of nature.Unforgettable place not to mention the excellent meals prepared by Chef Kavinda.A big Thank you to Manager Upatissa and his team for making my stay truly remarkable. Will never forget the caring and efficient service provided by Vimukthi.Truly a wonderful stay and I will certainly come back to experience the serenity of this wonderful place!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Atulya Villas Lakeview and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the impeccable service, stunning facilities, and the breathtaking view. The staff at Atulya Villas Lakeview went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. Their hospitality was exceptional, and they were always ready to assist with a warm and welcoming smile. Whether it was recommendations for local attractions or attending to my requests, the staff's attentiveness added an extra layer of comfort to my stay. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the culinary experience. The food at Atulya Villas Lakeview was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was expertly prepared, and the presentation was as delightful as the taste itself. The chefs truly showcased their talent, making each meal a delight. The rooms were spacious, well-maintained, and equipped with modern amenities. And let's not forget the view – it was absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the panoramic view of the lake and surrounding scenery was a surreal experience. Atulya Villas Lakeview exceeded my expectations in every aspect. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, top-notch facilities, and a mesmerizing view made my stay truly unforgettable. I highly recommend Atulya Villas Lakeview for anyone seeking a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and natural beauty. It's a hidden gem that deserves all the accolades.

The villa is a beautiful piece of art. The views are amazing and the gardens are immaculate. Food and service were top notch. The staff were super attentive and flexible. The villa is off a main road but the gardens / foliage do a surprisingly good job at blocking out most of the traffic noise. The villa is fitted with solar panels which I appreciated for the sake of the environment!

Perhaps heat in the pool would be a nice touch.

We are a small family with kids, aged 5-7 and this place really worked well for us. We loved the location - the lake is tranquil and peaceful and incredibly quiet. It was an easy 5 minute tuk tuk ride to get to Mirissa beach to swim/enjoy the activities around there. We thoroughly enjoyed that after a day at the beach, we could then come home at the end of the day to a tranquil space with an incredible infinity pool and have a chef-prepared meal. The menu is incredible and varied, we would absolutely recommend trying it out, anytime of day really. The highlights are the Sri Lankan rice and curry, cutlets for snacks, lime juice and lobster dinner, served family style. Additionally, there is good wifi and breakfast is complimentary.

What a beautiful place to refresh my mind and body. The picturesque pool and lake view were perfect backdrops for some excellent yoga and meditation sessions. The delicious medley of Sri Lankan and Western meals were so mouthwateringly good. And the expert massages in their onsite spa retreat left us feeling refreshed and energized. We’ll surely be back.
