The Hook BnB, Port Blair

Staff, were all lovely and so helpful. Plenty information on check in to make the most of our less than 24 hours in Port Blair. Hooked us up with lovely tuktuk driver to get around, as you will need transport. They arranged transfer from airport and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely homely stay for getting ferry in morning. Breakfast was delicious too.

We did get a shock when we got off our vehicle as this was just another building in a super thin Lane with a steep slope. But once we went up, the rooms were good, with an amazing owner who kept a check on our comfort all the time. She, with her staff were amazing and served us the delicacies of Andaman for breakfast, like black rice and super tasty upma.

There was no intercom, so we had to trouble the owner all the time for everything.

I liked everything. The location was perfect. It was quiet and peaceful. I can’t express how happy and satisfied I was choosing this homestay. The host Revathi was so kind and friendly. I stayed in a room with a seaview which was lovely. Revathi was so helpful from the start, giving me guidance and helping me book my ticket to the Cellular Jail Lightshow when I faced difficulties doing so. I stayed for 3 nights (1 night at beginning of my island trip and 2 nights at the end). She also arranged my transportation when I needed to visit places. The daily breakfasts were amazing and plentiful. She also packed me breakfast when I had to leave early one morning for the ferry. I am so appreciative and grateful for what she has done to make me feel so welcomed on the island. Such a hospitable host. I highly recommend staying at The Hook Bnb if you’re ever in Port Blair. The owner is amazing! She went above and beyond to make sure our stay perfect. We stayed here twice. On the way to Havelock and on our return. The owner was helpful organising our ferry and taxis between the jetty, airport and accommodation. The Indian breakfast is also wonderful and different both mornings. This place fantastic value for money! We would certainly return if we were in PB again.

Had an incredible experience at the Hook BnB. The hosts Revathi Ji and Capt Dhana were super warm and made us feel right at home. They were always available to answer our questions and shared great local tips. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had a lovely view of the ocean and Mt Harriet. Loved the homemade breakfasts. Revathi ji took keen interest and looked after our dietary needs - the breakfast was delicious and everyday there was a super nutritious menu for us . The location was perfect for exploring the nearby attractions. They also arranged for the Scooty for us to explore. We would definitely recommend this BnB to anyone looking for a cozy, authentic, and peaceful experience. Capt Dhana gave useful tips to explore the serene places near by. Pick and Drop from the airport was smooth on time and convenient. Drive from the BnB to Aberdeen Bazaar, Airport and Flag point is just 10 mins on the scooter . We came to Port Blair after 33 years and the peaceful atmosphere at the BnB was just we needed to relive and unwind We would surely come back and stay at The Hook home stay

Our host Revathi was exceptionally helpful and considerate. Nothing was too much trouble e.g., she arranged our excursions and onward ferry tickets. We felt more like family members than paying guests. The room itself overlooked the bay and was spacious and had the added benefit of a communal lounge and dining room. Breakfast was great. Thank you again for making our stay so wonderful.

Good location and view. The host was very helpful. Helped us in booking government tickets. We did not take airport pickup from the hotel. To compensate, he gave us free airport drop off. Polite and responsive. He said we could call him anytime and ask him if we needed help going around things even after our checkouts. Allowed a late checkout too. Overall a great experience!

Reva is an amazing host. She did everything to help us and to make us feel welcome. Her breakfasts were super delicious, she makes the best idly. She also booked the tickets for the Havelock and Neil Island ferry for us. She was always available for us. We stayed in two different rooms, both were clean, one had a nice and big terrace, the other had a smaller balcony. We got a complementary airport pick up and drop off. I highly recommend the property.

Great stay, home like atmosphere. The hosts were attentive and made sure we had everything we requested. Their breakfast spread was amazing everyday.

The place is so clean and comfortable! The staff is so nice and welcoming!! We had a lovely stay! Would recommend about it so much!!

The attitude and behaviour of the captain was just awesome. He helped for planning, helped arrange rent scooters and also gave many good suggestions for sight seeing. We got two taxi rides complementary on first and last day of stay, 2 breakfasts too. We had to check out at 5 AM and they gave us packed breakfast at 5AM and arranged cab, totally complementary too. It was my best experience staying anywhere away from home. Super experience.

The owner of this property was very friendly in providing the pick up cab service from the jetty. The property is very well equipped with all necessary items required for a stay with family. The owner was very generous to provide us with togo breakfast at 5:30am as we had early flight. Would definitely recommend this homestay.

The owners are very very helpful and lovely people. We enjoyed to stay in this place, very quiet and you get all what you need, it made our days in Port Blair pleasent and easy. Go for it, you won't regret.

Perfect stay, staff is heplful, flexible and customer oriented. They are ready to advise excursions, transfers, restaurants and reply for any kind of requests. It was a pleasure to be there as guest.

A warm welcome with coconut water and lovely, helpful hosts in Rava and Capt. Dhana. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean, and breakfast was a feast - these people are feeders! - with tasty, home made delicacies. Dhana arranged our ferry tickets for Havelock, which was really helpful, and he was a mine of information about the local island history. Rava recommended Amaya restaurant for dinner - it was superb and we went there both nights! Only a short stay, but so enjoyable. The property is a bit off the main road but was perfectly safe even after dark. Would recommend.

The Captain and his wife are truly hospitable, my trip in Andamans would not have been the same without them! They are very knowledgeable about activities and attractions and can provide many recommendations. The accommodation itself is excellently run with with pride and attention to detail. I especially enjoyed the fresh coconut water upon arrival and the transfers arranged to/from airport or jetty.

Wonderful, efficient and very helpful staff. Comfortable, silent and very clean rooms, with all facilities you need for a very pleasant stay!

Maybe not the best location if you plan to spend an evening in the center and come back freely and/or late night, especially by foot, given that it slightly isolated (on a little uphill road with scarse lighting and many dogs) and in the evening it is not always easy to find reliable local transport in town, without previous arrangements.

I love the sea view, the table set on the balcony where you can enjoy your meals with the sea view and also with privacy. The host Madam is very kind and looks after your every requirement and there is also a one way pickup or drop which you can choose. It’s also very near to Haddo Bay and so you can get onto your ferry within a short time. Lastly, the home cooked meals served here is superb. Enjoyed my stay with my family, it feels like home.

The Hook BnB offered a comfortable and pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, the beds were comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and attentive. The location was convenient yet peaceful, and the breakfast was wonderful – fresh, delicious, and a perfect start to the day. A recommended choice for a relaxing getaway.

It would be worth to fly to Andaman just to stay at this great property. The family that runs it is incredibly welcoming and very professional in helping you at any time of the day. They speak really good English and they know everybody in town, so they can help you setting up a tour for very good price (ask them before wasting 100€ for Baratang caves), finding reliable drivers. The room is very clean and has everything you need to have a good stay, including a practical bag with soap shampoo and toothbrush). The common areas are spacious and very comfy. Captain Dhana's is a very interesting person, with lots of stories to share. His wife Revathi is so caring that I felt I was part of the family. And factotum James welcomes you with a big smile and a coconut juice. Don't miss the chance to stay at this place!

I didn't like that I had to leave, because they are lovely people and I miss them even now

I liked everything about the stay. Food was exceptional! Had a comfortable stay. Clean and neat rooms. Supporting and sweet staff. Host Mrs.Revathi helped us with planning the itinerary and to book transportation. One of the sweetest hosts I have met. We had provision to cook at the kitchen as we had a baby in the family. Had a small grocery store in the next building for any immediate necessity. Location was great. Quiet and clam. Close to most sightseeing places. Especially to airport and jetty. Loved the stay overall! 5 ⭐

our room was at 3rd floor so had to climb 3 floors everytime as there is no lift option😁 but that's ok. Because everything else was great. It is not very fancy and attractive, but a decent one.

We spent three days at "The Hook," and Revathi and Capt. Dhana were the absolute best hosts. They took care of all our needs with precision. The place is spotless, and the balcony view is stunning. Revathi's cooking? Phenomenal. She prepared delicious breakfasts and fantastic dinners. Capt. Dhana shared tips and guided us to must-visit spots. They offer airport pickup and drop-off as well. If you're planning a trip, talk to Revathi and Capt. Dhana; they'll help with transportation and guide you through bookings. Here are some tips from our experience: You don't need a travel agent for booking hotels, cruise tickets, or water sports in the Andama—it's more cost effective if you book online. Port Blair is compact, with a 15 km stretch and plenty of autos. You can travel from one place to another in INR100. Havelock and Neil Island are even smaller and well served by autos. Note that no travel agent representatives are allowed on Elephanta Beach, and tourists must manage their water sports activities. So, there's really no need to hire a travel agent for ticket purchases.

Very pleasant place to stay in Port Blair! Comfortable bed, tasty indian or european breakfast , hot water and all amenities. And bike rent is not a problem, just ask host for. Captain Dhana organized all island tours for us, filled documents for Baratang island. We just enjoyed trips. And Mrs Revathi made us feel like we are home! Thank you for hospitality and wonderful moments! Hope to see u again !

Captain Dhanavelu and his family were very nice and made me feel right at home. The room was spacious and clean and everything was working properly. The location was also really good just a short walk from foreshore road. Captain and his wife were available whenever I needed anything. All in all, I felt like I am staying with family 🩵

Was a bit remote, but still well connected

The hosts welcome their guests as best as they can. After booking the accommodation, I received information about the possibility of a free transfer (you can choose a free transfer to or from the place of accommodation). The rooms are very well equipped, everything as described on the website. The hosts prepare wonderful Indian meals and you can talk to them about various topics related to Indian culture. They provide literature/albums about the Andaman Islands. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Very comfortable and friendly, accommodating hosts. The room was well equipped and sparkling clean, and a lovely breakfast. They had lots of info about PB and history of the Andamans to share. We were offered complimentary pick up from the ferry, and then a drop to the airport. Great value!

The hosts are the sweetest couple and made my stay incredibly special- from the driver picking me up at the ferry, the first welcome coconut water & lunch , to the amazing seafood dinner and balcony view ;) They really treated me like family and ensured I had everything that I needed for my brief stay and helped me plan future trips on the other islands as well. The room was lovely and I appreciated the treats in the fridge and complimentary toiletries as well.

The room was modern and well-equipped, with a balcony and views out to sea. Delicious traditional southern Indian food was served for dinner and breakfast. Above all, the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, arranging for us to be picked up from the airport and dropped off the next morning at the ferry jetty. They were also full of interesting and helpful information and advice about what to visit in the Port Blair area and also at our next Island destination. It was a pleasure to chat with them and learn more about Indian Tamil culture, We shall certainly be returning!

Captain Dhanavelu and Revathi ma'am were such great hosts. We stayed initially for 3 nights and then later for a night after completing the island hopping. The entire journey with Hook BnB from the point of getting picked up at the airport, to getting dropped back again, was one of the most seamless and effortless journeys for our family. Their service exceeded that of fancy hotels. There is so much to mention. Food- absolutely delicious south Indian + local cuisines made right at their home. We were blessed to have their seafood and authentic veg/non-veg based dishes that were homemade, yet so professionally done. Rooms- very well done, with all the necessary amenities and a first class view of the harbour through which all the ships went to the Haddo Jetty. The balcony constantly got extremely cool air throughout the day. Service-absolutely top notch, at no moment did we feel our wants weren't met, and in fact they went beyond. When we weren't expecting anything, we were surprised much more. From the coconut water in the morning, to their delicious south Indian desserts. There is so much to mention, but it would take ages and would require several volumes. Iif you're planning a trip to port Blair, and want to stay at the heart of it, don't think twice. If you want delicious food, don't think at all. The hosts will keep good care of you, and give you all the necessary contacts for your further travels within Andaman and Nicobar.

If you are staying at The Hook, be ready to be spoilt with yummy home cooked meals by Reva ma’am and helpful info from Captain on anything and everything you need to know for a wonderful and hassle free vacation in the Andamans! In fact, when my phone died after getting soaked in the unpredictable Andaman rains, they gave me their personal laptop to retrieve my flight booking details, their phone to call my family etc etc without me even having to ask for help!! They treat you like their own family and there is this warmth that makes you feel like you are home!
