Reviewed Sep 18, 2026In het Gray house zijn alle voorzieningen: badkamer, keukentje, ruime slaapkamer en living met aan de muren mooie foto's van de gastvrouw. We werden vriendelijk rondgeleid door de gastheer en in de koelkast vonden we eitjes en een lokaal biertje ... wat wil je nog meer ...wat langer blijven misschien 1 nachtje was kort. Rond het centrum van Mettet staan nog veel huizen in Ardense steen. We vonden op het kerkhof het graf van Félicien Rops en wat een geluk ook het Château de Thozée konden we bezoeken. In Le Bistrologue, een gezellige bistro, hebben we lekker gegeten. Meer moet dat niet zijn.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2026spacious duplex above the owner's house, which gives it all a homely and welcoming vibe. Large garden to share. Very well equipped for a longer stay. Nice touch were the fresh eggs from the owner's chicken. Great to have a parking place. Walking distance from the few cafes and restaurants in the village.
Price a bit steep in this location for a single person.

Slot van de deur en poort gaan moeilijk open. De ingang is via een trap aan de achterkant, en niet zoals op de eerste foto .

Reviewed Jun 30, 2026- Goede communicatie met de hosts. - Zeer vriendelijke hosts die me mee heeft geholpen om de koffers naar het verblijf te brengen en daarna een uitgebreide rondleiding heeft gegeven. - Verblijf was wat groter dan ik had verwacht. - Hosts hadden redelijk wat extra'tjes voorzien: flesje water en bier, zelfgemaakte potjes confituur, eieren van de eigen kippen... - Voldoende informatie beschikbaar over wat er in de buurt te doen is. - Airco in de grote slaapkamer was zeer welkom door de aanhoudende hittegolf (35°C en meer buiten).

Reviewed Apr 10, 2026Yves and Brigitte are great hosts - neither a lack of common language was a barrier. La Gite is located in a convenient location for touring the region. The appartment is well equipped and wonderfully quiet. We enjoyed a very pleasant stay here.
Personally, I would prefer a bit cosier and softer lightning - in particular, the bedside lamps could have a warmer light.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2025we enjoyed everything about and in this apartmant which is, to my opinion and experiences, one of the most beautiful, cosiest and best equiped apartments I have ever been in. And not to mention the style and decoration of all the rooms that were simply gorgeus and included many many details and small things, that you would never ever be missing if they weren't there - but because they were, you noticed them and used them with pleasure and joy :) Now last, but far away from least important - our hosts - Yves and Brigitte are so wonderful, warm persons with great sense of humour, with contagious warmness and positive energy that made our one week long staying here imemorable - if they wouldn't be as special as they are our "visiting Belgium" exeprience would have been very impoverished.
Nič. Zero. Nada. Niente. Nix. Ništa ... I ran out of my foreign language knowing, so I can only say - there wasn't single thing, that would bother us, eveything was perfect!

Reviewed Nov 2, 2024Wonderful place to stay for a few days while exploring the picturesque Belgian countryside. It was just like being at home - cosy, well appointed and comfortable. Mettet is a small town with good amenities (restaurants, bars and a bakery) all within walking distance from the property. Yves was a very friendly and helpful host.

Reviewed Apr 30, 2024A well-appointed Gite in a great location for touring the region. The area was quiet but there were many supermarkets nearby by car. A boulangerie was a short walk away. The hosts were delightful and very friendly. Everything we needed (except a freezer) was available in the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom.
We are traveling for 2 months in Europe so we mainly self-cater to keep costs down and to avoid eating out all the time. Therefore, a freezer is essential for us and there was no freezer in the fridge. We have never stayed in accommodation that does not have a freezer!

Reviewed Jun 19, 2023Brigitte and Yves are the loveliest, kindest, most welcoming hosts! The house itself is really lovely, it's a big attic above their own house, a big living room, a nice modern kitchen, a big bedroom. you also have access to their lovely garden, which is spacious and tidy and very serene. They welcomed us with some Belgian beer and a couple of eggs for breakfast from their own chickens. If we are ever in Mettet again, we are definitely staying here. Cannot recommend this place more!
