Given the price, don't expect the moon. A decent place to stay a couple of nights.
Very untidy it's seem that the rooms was not cleaned in a while mould on toilet roll cigarette butt's under bed used as a ash tray
Nothing at all location was ok but that's about it the owner has a bad attitude
Friendly staff
For that price, I think it was fine
I hesitated to choose this place because the rating was below 8, but I don’t regret it at all. During my stay, the electricity did not go out, and everything worked well. I can even compliment the good lighting in both the room and the bathroom. I also appreciated the window with a mosquito net, as I like fresh air and didn’t have to worry about mosquitoes. It looks like the room was repainted recently, although the lower parts of the walls are not very aesthetic - probably due to the recent flood. I didn’t eat there, as the food on the street is cheaper.
Nothing.
Staff not cooperative .
Nice location. Good food in the restaurant. Helpful staff. Comfortable room.
It rained for several days straight but that's not the hotel's problem.
Great place to stop over in Koh Rong at a good price.
Good food, cheap drinks Good atmosphere Everything works
N Ice people
All fine
Except for the boss himself, the rest of the staff was very very nice. They helped as much as they could en apologised for the inconveniences. I left after one night and they gave me my money back that I had paid for remaining nights.
The boss is not a nice guy at all. There was no running water, to fix that they left a tank with water and a basket that you needed to use to shower and everything. The water didn’t even look clean. They did not want to give us some of the money back we paid for the shower cause “this is what you have to deal with while travelling”. The room was dirty, I did not want to use the sheets on the bed because of all te stains. The food was not good, did not eat it cause I was scared it would give me food poisoning.
Flying bugs. Roaches. Water shut off at night.
The women who worked there were very kind and helpful, they seemed just as frustrated as us with the situation.
No running water (their ‘solution’ was a bucket of water), sheets and blankets covered in stains and very rude owner.
Staff are all really friendly, great value for money and great food, natural beauty of the surrounding area is incredible however not much going on in the town itself. Room had an odd smell and wifi was a bit dodgy but other than that I have no complaints
Staff were great food is excellent good location I will stay there agian
Great place to stay for border crossers. Clean rooms, good location, friendly staff and good food.
Good draft beer, if you want Italian food, go to Italy. Bedsheets looked clean but yellow and sandy, very noisy..
The environment. The pace is a huge garbage with plenty of rats , disgusting low life westerners getting wasted and exchanging tips for kisses with prostituted boys or ladies. We went up the street have a drink, the prices were fraudulent and both of our phones disappeared. When we called the police they magically reappear. Nothing like this happened to us in two months traveling Asia, we should stayed in China, a neat beautiful country full of great people.
Very arrogant European owner, started yelling at us immediately once we arrived and had a question about price difference to booking, the room had very weird smell, my friends had dirty sheets, a lot of dirt under the bed. No running water after 8pm up until like 7-8am 😅 Then there was also no electricity for our rooms during the night so no ac/fan and shit load of mosquitoes Interesting that you could see lights from other rooms and there was light in the hallway too You get woken up by the staff members playing very loud TikTok videos right at your “window” - spent two nights both mornings the same 😅 All the signs around walls reminding you the place is owned by RENE with his name everywhere 🙈 The food and beer was good xd
The actual accommodation is fine but we did both get food poisoning on the 1st day here which ruined our plans for the following day as my daughter could barely leave the room. Maybe don't eat at the restaurant. Overpriced compared to other local fair and obviously a bit risky if you wanna enjoy your time in koh Kong.
Friendly people and good value
location is good , and they have a great menu for food.
no remote for airconditioner
We booked within 10 mins of arriving and the staff were very accommodating, taken straight to our room, basic but clean, nice food, good location
It was quite noisy as it doesn't have a proper window but to us it was ok. Toilet was open so you can't go to the toilet in peace
Rene and staff were friendly and it has a good location
It could also be called Rene’s Cockroach Bar, we killed at least 12 big flying cockroaches coming from the drain of the shower. We did receive a spray to kill them which was nice but the sound of those roaches at night is not something that makes you fall asleep very well
Friendly Staff
In the evening there was no water. And the walls are very thin so it was loud in the room at night because people were talking next room.
Very clean , nice rooms, friendly ,
If you are looking for an inexpensive overnight stop this is great. No frills just a small room with a bed and a washroom.
They turn the water off in the evening after a long hot travel day and we arrived late and had no water to shower. They had a bucket of water for the toilet but we couldn’t brush our teeth or wash up.
Big rooms and very friendly staff and good location for onward transport, just 2 minute walk to bus company.
All good.
Central and has everything you need. Quite friendly.
A luck of paint. A no smoking policy everywhere.
Good staff and good meals. And good information. Arranged the trip to Battambang from there.
Room were sober and not so clean. For the quality of the rooms the price was too high. The nice staff compensated the lack of quality of the hotel. Nu
Rene’s place is very good, Rene is a great host and very friendly. Good and cheap beer and very good food. Highly recommend.
Nothing
All was OK but like all of Koh Kong a little expensive compared to other Cambodian cities. Food more expensive but generous portions
All was acceptable, but a little noisy staff early in the morning
Rene's is the only place to go to on Koh Kong. Central location, clean, friendly host. Rene is a,great source of information for anything in Koh Kong.
All good
Nice staff
Lots of mosquitos in the room, could do with a net over the bed
The outside cafe area was nice.
I didn't care for this place. The room and bathroom were pretty worn down with cracked tiles and such. The biggest issue is that there is a space in the wall leading to the outside where there is a loud fan and mosquitos were all over my room. Thankfully, I only stayed one night but I got eaten up by the mosquitos and woke up with welts all over my face and body and itching all over. I had to pay $5 extra for the AC. The fan above the bed was very noisy. Also, people were drinking and talking loudly until midnight so I got to sleep very late. I wish I had booked another place.
Mosquito City! There is no effort to control the swarms of mosquitoes in the room.
Rene is a great host who takes care of his guests. He arranged a very good day trip for me that included all the local main attractions.
Smoking in the restaurant.
No full walls in bathroom. Light on in bathroom illuminated entire facility . Could hear the guest in other rooms snoring.
He's a funny guy.
He feels like a swindler Tells you booking.com overbooked his hotel and then puts you in a hotel nearby. He pays for that hotel less than you pay him so he makes a good buck. The steak was shit
Breakfast
Overbooking by Booking.com with more people in the house than rooms.
A OK
Door wouldn't lock
Rene is a very friendly, helpful host who solves problems and offers solutions. He gave invaluable advice regarding getting to and crossing the border into Thailand. He also suggested how and where to go in Thailand which proved very useful. It was thoroughly enjoyable sitting on his patio eating good quality Khmer food for dinner, washed down with draft beer! He also has a great team who are also very friendly.
Rene doesn't accept cards. Cash only, including US dollars. When you are trying to ensure you are not left with Cambodian riels try to use smaller US dollar notes as some change is given in riels.
Food was great, staff was friendly and helpful. Ended up staying an extra two nights with no problem. Good value for the money. Comfortable.
convenient place to stop for one night on my cycle route
all good 👍
great place, friendly staff and owner, clean rooms, good location
only 1 electricity socket is not enough
Nice staff, good location, good beer, good food.
The first room we went to the lock on the door was broken. We changed rooms. The second room was full of mosquitoes and fruit flys. There was blood stains on our bed sheets. The WiFi signal did not work.
Rene helped me with every question that I made.
Good location. Good air con. Very friendly host. Great draught beer.
Bed quite hard, only a small blanket no top sheet. Eaten here twice food very average/bland for the price and cocktails really not good at all for the price!
Very friendly owner and staff. Nice and clean place good prices and nice autentic athmoshper of real koh Kong. Realy recomend it for stay if you around koh kong
You can hear all the guesthouse from the room but for me not a big problem
Very kind and helpful host, good location, comfortable mattress, private bathroom, nice terrace
Shower didn’t drain water
René is de beste host !!!
Was clean and close to the centre. Rene was a friendly and helpful host.
All good
The owner and staff are very friendly and always ready to help. Room was nice. Good location when entering Cambodia from Thailand. Food in the restaurant is good.
There was little bugs in the toilet
The staff were very friendly and Rene was very helpful with any questions. The meals in the dining room were well priced and tasty.
No top sheet and a too small synthetic blanket thing that I don’t know if it is cleaned between guests or not. Room was not very clean. Bathroom bin not emptied during our stay.
The price point is great for what you get. Location is good, Rene and his ‘staff’ are very welcoming. Cold ‘Krud’ beer on tap.
I could have chosen air con in my room but elected to just have fan. Being late September, it wasn’t that stuffy but the rooms may ‘warm up’ in the hotter months.
Really cosy small place. Good rooms, good food, good service, friendly staff👍💪☀️
Location was fine, food a little expensive and nothing special. It was nice to be able to sit outside under shelter when raining.
Food fair but expensive. Was noisy a couple of nights. Music too loud. Rooms very basic. The bed up against the wall, hard to visit toilet without waking partner
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was as clear as a hospital and has the most amazing pillows. The food and atmosphere in the restaurant/pub was fantastic.
I love Rene and his staff! They make the best food!! Everyth8ng was so delicious, I hated to leave just for that alone! The rooms were comfortable and cool with the AC, and they were very reasonable priced. Rene is so helpful with a tuktuk to get you where u want to go Luke the mangroves or to set up a trekking adventure. He is a wonderful host!
The outdoor seating for the restaurant was very close to the rooms and could be super noisy, very early in the morning and late at night, but at other times it was fine. I would like to suggest a nonsmoking part of the restaurant, though, for those who don't like the smell of cigarettes.
Rene is a decent person, very attentive, I wish him all the best.
