Tenahead Lodge & Spa

The meals were excellent -much better than my last visit when we co-incided with the chef being on leave!

Some frustration with the hot water situation, but I understand it is related to the Eskom lines being damaged by the snow. The road getting to Tenahead was much worse than 6 years ago. Very little maintenance being done it would seem.

The view is incredible! And the remoteness makes it even more special. This is a small lodge, with only a few rooms, contributing to the exclusivity of the stay.

Highest Mountain Lodge in South Africa - Ensure that you drive a high clearance vehicle to reach the destination. We loved the drive up Naudés Neck. The food was amazing and the fact that the staff kept the fire going in our room while we were out was a big bonus. Loved the whole experience.

We wanted to drive the Tiffindell to Tenahead traverse to reach the lodge, but the road was closed on the Tiffindell side so we had to turn around and drive back to Rhodes and then to the lodge.

Fabulous!!! A piece of heaven on earth.

I liked absolutely everything. From the location, the design and deco of the lodge, the staff, the food. Such an incredible experience.

Super friendly and attentive staff. Food was excellent - dinner is top notch! The property is very remote which gives one a feeling of peace and tranquility.

Its so far away and the road to the lodge is just for 4x4. Would love to go again, but its just too far.

Location is unique for high altitude birding and scenery. I achieved most of my target birds. Staff were fantastic. The meals were first rate.

Not much is needed to make it better!

Great experience in the most stunning setting. Very attentive and pleasant staff. The meals are excellent and the whole stay exceeded our expectations.

We were traveling on bicycles so could carry very little with us. Cynthia arranged for our cycling cloths to be machine washed fast so they could dry in our room overnight. The team also arranged an excellent breakfast to be left in our room as we needed to leave early. The team was very accommodating.

Facility is brilliant, food is delicious, staff very helpful and friendly. Just an excellent experience and stay!

Costing of extra's in the room and the bar, or out of package items. We would have spent more if we had known the cost beforehand.

Our room was so comfortable and had the most amazing view over the river and mountains. The food was really top class. It was a memorable experience and I would recommend Tenahead for a mountain getaway.

We knew the pass up to Tenahead turnoff would be bad, but actually the road off to Tenahead is even worse than the pass. It would create a better experience if the resort repaired their own road. Some of the boulders which need to be traversed were huge and it made for an unpleasant ride.

The Lodge is in dire need of re vamping ..very shoddy. I expected nicer rooms for a 5 star.

The setting is amazing!!

Just everything, we were made to feel like royalty. Nothing was too much trouble, we changed our mealtimes to suit us with no problems at all.

Just such a surprise to find this amazing place in the middle of nowhere.

The location was magical and exactly like the website. All meals were freshly prepared and delicious. The management and staff were super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable.

everything was just perfect and definitely exceeded our expectations. the warmth from the fire place and the hosts the staff and the amazing views all combined into an unbelievable experience. Thank you we will be back for a longer stay.

The food at this hotel is always exceptional and for that alone I would keep rerouting across difficult terrain to stopover at this hotel. Added to that the scenery, the comfort of the hotel rooms, with fires in each room its a winner as a stopover. Especially for photographers and birders!

The location is exceptional and offers a truly unique experience, not only in the specific area but possibly the country. The staff are brilliant and exceedingly helpful. The food was excellent, with very well prepared meals.

There was nothing to fault, the location and facilities were as described and met our expectations perfectly.

Venue needs attention. Staff seem to just be working with what they have. Feels like they are left to their own devices.

The breakfast was delicious. Especially the smoothies Chef made us on 2 seperate mornings. We enjoyed the variety of cheeses, fruits & Croissants or toast. This was followed by a full English breakfast. No starving at Tenahead.

Everything - the surroundings, the ultra friendly staff, the tastefully decorated rooms. Just perfect!

Perhaps there could be a little more outside seating areas for summer days.

Amazing views from everywhere. There are plenty of walking paths and it is very safe. Jeanne-Mari and Franco were fantastic hosts and went over and above. Grace in the spa is also a real gem. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Dinners were also great. You cannot go wrong with this lodge.

Some small things were not working in the room, but easily fixable. We will be back.

A jewel on the top of a mountain with the most beautiful view from the room and bathroom through big windows. The room and bed were very comfortable, clean, and beautifully furnished. The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly and kind. We will come back to Tenahead to spend more time in this lovely place

Spectacular setting! The stone lodge is beautiful, the bedrooms are spacious with wonderful views and the communal lounges are comfy with warming fireplaces. The food was well done. A great place for adventurous travelers and those seeking a remote holiday in the mountains. A 4x4 is essential as the roads in the area and to the lodge are very rough. The staff were friendly and service was excellent.

The rooms are cold even in November. There is a big gas heater and a fireplace which is made up and lit for you every afternoon. But the concrete floors and bathroom could do with some rugs.
