Dalesgate Hotel - Self Check In

Rooms are clean. Beds comfortable. Plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms. Breakfast was good. I like self service for tea/coffee/toast - that's new since I last stayed, 2 years ago Plenty of parking space. Rooms to the rear are good, no traffic noise The updated lounge looks good, a vast improvement

Nothing...dreadful place

Where do I start.. The room we were given had limited head space and at 6ft 3 I couldn't use the toilet without crouching. The bed linen had stains and when we were getting ready to go out, there was no water to the toilet, wash basin or shower. We reported this to staff who said this was due to other guests using the water. We had to go out for our evening meal in Saltaire without washing or showering. On our return from the evening out, my wife decided she couldn't sleep in a dirty bed and at midnight we left the room and went home, cutting our holiday short. I have sent a message to the hotel asking for a refund and havnt had the courtesy of a reply.

Bedding was incredibly clean and it’s exceptional value. Good size rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The breakfasts are plentiful and good quality. The staff and helpful and supportive.

Unfortunately it’s a little threadbare in the rooms. The mattress wasn’t very comfy and the bedroom carpets and bits of the bathroom weren’t clean. My room spent of old smoke residue on a low level.

Good parking area. Easy access to hotel and room. Clean room. Comfortable bed. Huge great breakfast! Karen, serving us in the breakfast room, was great...thank you Karen! Pub, just 5 mins walk was wonderful for our evening meals and a drink or too! There was also a good fish and chip shop very close. Wonderful stay.

the hotel was clean and the facilities were good the staff were minimal but the one person we met was very friendly . the standard of the breakfast was very good and would have no problem staying again or recommending to anyone else . overall well worth the cost of the stay .

Hi previously we stayed in 2 rooms about 6 weeks ago rooms 14 & 15 ? My brother and I were occupants. I left a good review. This time it was my wife and I in one room and my brother in another. We were in 4 & 6 . The rooms were dissappointing with very low head room, a bathroom where a man couldn't stand up to pee, a flush that didn't work effectively (room 4) and the bathroom floor (room 4) appeared to be dirty (maybe just waterstained). The TV in room 4 didn't have the same channels as the one in room 14. The entry system on the doors works fine but has a fundamental problem which prevents the doors being closed without banging them (e.g. The knob on the outside doesn't retract the latch to allow a quiet closure, unless the code is entered, which no one will do when exiting the room!). Similarly the back door was repeatedly banging in the morning. The breakfast was excellent, being served by a very friendly lady. I would not want to stay in one of those upper story rooms again (unless maybe as a single).

There wasn’t any info about breakfast where is was or times ! The bed for me was too soft and very uncomfortable

The self check in process was perfect once I had the code (which was delayed). The breakfast was ideal and in a cozy location.

The bed was very, very, soft (I'm talking partially deflated balloon soft).

Decor very old, No water pressure, loo would not flush, couldn't shower Contacted staff to ask to split beds from double to twin, they agreed to help before 9pm but did not attend and did not offer any help. This is unacceptable, I booked and paid for 4 rooms and felt very disappointed

Although the bedroom in general was ok, the bed in my view was uncomfortable, very soft/saggy, presumably a new mattress would do the trick. Also with only staying three nights we said to staff we would not require our room to be serviced, cleaned, which was agreed, alas this was soon forgotten as someone came in the room and did just that!!!!!

Back of the building where the parking is, is painted a hideous colour, but that is pretty irrelevant really!

The breakfast choices were great with continental style, or hot cooked breakfast available, and set you up for the day. The room was comfortable and serviced daily if requested. There was adequate free parking. The free wifi was a little bit in and out. Self check in was easy to manage.

There was a bar and restaurant advertised, but didn't see either except for the breakfast room. The area itself was a little run down, but OK as a base if you had transport.

The member of staff that served breakfast was very pleasant and nice mannered.

The Hotel was next to a very busy road so was quite noisy with traffic at times. The hotel was very tired and dated with the decor showing it's age. The shower took ten minutes to get warm and when the sink taps were used the shower stopped working completely. The basin sink plug was to small so the water just ran away which when shaving was somewhat annoying. The windows were dirty and in need of a clean. The cooked breakfast which supposedly was given a high rating on booking.com was IMHO very average so was a massive disappointment. There were signs suggesting that there was a 'Bar' which didn't exist. The cost of £80 for the room was way over priced and definitely not worth the money. Would I recommend this hotel to others the answer would be absolutely NO I wouldnt.

Breakfast was nice, lady serving was kind and hospitable. There was an error with our room and only one bed when paid for two. A quick call to the helpline and they give us access to a room not in service due to needing minor repairs so was thankful for that. The room was okay in all honesty was just cosmetic touch ups needed which was not something that was a problem to us.

As its self check in, there's no staff to actually monitor whats going on in the hotel and there was people playing loud music, shouting, partying into early hours of the morning so I had no sleep with a long drive to the other side of the country early in the morning

Check-in was available at any time of the day because you just tapped in the number to get in. And there was plenty of parking for the car.

This was during a really hot period of time and on the top floor the rooms were absolutely baking where downstairs they were a lot cooler. I felt that the hotel just had the lack of general upkeep… There were one or two coat hangers that were slightly falling off the door and there was a broken floorboard underneath the carpet in my room. There were no staff roaming around except at breakfast and that potentially did mean that if you want to ask something like about a broken TV remote control there was nobody really to talk to except at the end of a phone line

When you arrive the area outside the hotel back entrance is to put it kindly 'scruffy'. I certainly wondered what we had let ourselves in for. The security code was pretty good. With no staff available there are enough signs to get you to your room. The rooms are adequate. We had no hot water so the bath and shower were less than useful. So why did we give such a high score. The breakfast as noted by us and someone else we overheard was 'The Best Breakfast They Had Ever Had!' The choices for cold breakfast were many. The cooked English breakfast was amazing. Cooked to order with good amounts of bacon etc. As the lovely lady who cooks (and we believe does all the housework) says she doesn't allow anyone to leave the breakfast table feeling hungry. Her care made up for all the shortcomings and is responsible for the high score. Thankyou so much for an excellent stay.

Funny not meeting anyone because of the self check in. It all worked well. Large room, bit of road noise but not late on. Very generous tea and coffee in rooms. Excellent breakfast, large portions of egg and delicious bacon. Friendly lady at breakfast.

The woman who did the housekeeping and breakfast was very helpful. The bedroom was clean. The breakfast was very good.

The bathroom badly needed some attention. The toilet seat was loose. I reported it on the first day (Friday) but it was not fixed by Sunday. The bathroom radiator was badly rusted. Some of the wallpaper was pealing. Given the standard of accommodation and services available I thought the price of the room was expensive

Easy to access the building and the room, smart TV in the room, and smart heating. Bed was ok, breakfast was really good and redeemed the stay. Can order what you want with a continental selection as well. The lady that worked in the mornings was lovely, worked very hard and very friendly. A real asset to the hotel. Ample parking at the rear of the building.

The room we had needs some tlc, unsure whether it was good value, but the room did the job.

Excellent breakfast, very easy to book, no fuss on the self check-in, and the room was as expected.

From a personal perspective, the mattress in the room was incredibly soft (bit like sleeping for a beanbag). Not my favourite, but not an actual fault with the room.

I Arrived to find the parking was not what was advertised, no lighting it looked very Vunerable, so I cancelled my booking . Not that they refunded me. I was happy to stay At Steeton Hall hotel one mile away. Very disappointed that they charged me although I asked for a refund . I didn’t want to leave this feedback , as my requirements were very important as I had a van full of goods

Very cosy, warm room with a decent shower, comfy bed and generous tea and coffee making supplies. Breakfast was great, staff really friendly and the self-check-in service very efficient. Location is good too with bus stops just outside and Keighley about a 30-minute walk away.

The decor is rather dated though that didn't matter too much to me.

The shower, toilet & sink was very clean and had a good mirror above the sink. The skirting boards were very dirty which was a shame. The breakfast was lovely with lovely choices of cereals, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice, tea & coffee, selection of toast that you do yourself which was good, and a lovely breakfast which was hot & filling. 10/10 for breakfast but 2/10 for terrible mattress!

Although the bedroom was small, it was big enough with side units to both sides of the bed which looked new, with 1 wicker chair to sit down. There was sufficient space to hang clothes etc. BUT although the double bed looked nice with clean bedding etc, I had a dreadful night sleep.The bed felt like a bouncy castle if you turnover, it was so bad that if you sat on the edge of the mattress it moved down to the board underneath. Please try it yourself overnight as it really was dreadful which affected me the following day. I had problems with my neck and pain in my back from the lack of any support from the mattress.

The radiator in the bathroom was not working. I reported it but no one came to sort it out while I was out.

Directions to the rear of the hotel could have been clearer.It was tricky to find and the road was in very poor condition with potholes everywhere . The other road was better but with no signage we did not find it until layer in our stay. The decor was very basic . The room was clean and comfortable though but suffered from noise from neighbouring rooms .

The room was very shabby. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, mould in the shower and the carpets up the stairs and in the room was stained and dirty. The bed whilst comfortable was underneath the roof space making it difficult to get in and out of bed on my side. The windows were very dirty as was the area outside surrounding the hotel. Breakfast was ok if you had continental but the cooked breakfast was very poor and used very cheap sausages. One of the reasons for staying here was the fact that there was an EV charger, however at £1.40 a KW it was too expensive to plug in.
