Warm reception by host, perfect location, lovely rural and harbour views, spacious and superior facilities, great wood burner fire for the cool evening. Everything about this place is first rate and I highly recommend it to those travelling in this area and looking for a quiet, peaceful rural retreat in a historic NZ area. Even the chapel itself is a part of that history. We could almost feel the preence of those who worshipped here a century and more ago.

I hesitate to even mention this, and I do so simply as a helpful suggestion (not to be published). I had some issues getting the TV to work on local channels. It would be good to have an instruction sheet for this. Eventually I worked it out, but instructions would have made that task easier and shorter!

The setting and the Chapel were absolutely delightful. We did not want to leave. Will definitely be back and next time for longer.

There was nothing to dislike.

Eine herrliche alte Kapelle aus Kauriholz in tollem Zustand. Viel Platz, hochwertiges Bett, schnelles Internet, große Küche mit allen notwendigen Dingen. Großer Kühlschrank, zwei Außenterrassen, tolle Blicke über den Fluss und das Land. Fairer Preis für die gebotene Leistung.

Die Gegend ist wirklich sehr abgelegen, und ohne Auto ist man verloren. Der nächste (kleine) Laden ist ca. 4km entfernt, ebenso wie ein Cafe, das allerdings gegen Mittag schließt. Restaurants gibt es gar nicht, da muss man die Fähre nehmen. Und Achtung, es wird nachts kalt, die Isolierung ist nicht gut.

The chapel was stunningly renovated with all the amenities - full kitchen, bedroom with en-suite, washing machine, plenty of hot water, cute deck with outdoor chairs, TV, WiFi connection… Everything was so well thought out and lovely. All the positive reviews are real!

Absolutely gorgeous place. Totally unique . Super clean and tidy. Hosts were so friendly and helpful. Even made us a delicious carrot cake (thanks Bart!!!).

The whole experience at The Chapel was exceptional. It is set in idyllic rural surroundings with coastal views. It is superbly renovated and has everything you'd need for quite a long stay! The host is caring, checking in but not in the least obtrusive. The bed is fantastic in terms of comfort. Would totally recommend!

Everything was amazing. So beautiful.. This gorgeous place is such a find and the owner is lovely. Even baked me a cake and lit the fire as I was arriving late. Stunning place.. I didn't want to leave and I am going to book it everytime I am there for work ( or leisure). Thank you so much.

Everything was fantastic. The hosts were lovely and the homemade carrot cake was a wonderful bonus! A cosy comfortable place to stay with unique features from use of the old chapel remnants. Loved it!

We arrived to a fire lit and Lyn waiting to great us, with Molly in tow. The chapel was bugger than I expected and such a quirky building to stay in. Izzy came to visit us in the morning so we had a few scratches and pats with her too, such a sweet cat. This Chapel is down a very quiet country road so you don't hear and traffic whatsoever. It makes for a beautiful quiet retreat away from people. I could see this being an ideal get away for a writer wanting to finish a manuscript.

Absolutely unique - could have stayed forever. Lynn so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back.
