Dar Al Mardi Fes

Nous n'avons pas apprécié de découvrir au tout dernier moment que le propriétaire avait fait du surbooking et qu'il a refusé de le reconnaitre , nous mettant dans l'embarras juste avant notre départ pour le Maroc pour trouver une alternative grâce à Booking. Je ne me prononcerais pas sur l'établissement en tant que tel , vu que nous n'avons pas pu y séjourner.

Zeer vriendelijke uitbater. Slaapkamers zoals op foto maar badkamers en keuken waren nogal primitief. Ligging midden in medina met zijn voor en nadelen.

Le logement a du charme, il est bien placé pour se rendre au souk . Les lits sont confortables et la clim fonctionne parfaitement.

- La cuisine est commune - Les oreillers ont une odeur car la housse est très fine, une alèse permettrait d'éviter que l'odeur des voyageurs traverse la housse et atteigne l'oreiller. -Alors que Booking nous indiquait 148dh de taxe pour 7 personnes +639dh (TVA comprise) soit un total de 787 dh le propriétaire a réclamé à mon époux 900dh . Vu que ce n'est pas lui qui s'était chargé de la réservation il pensait que je m'étais trompé dans le prix total hors de retour chez nous , nous avons contrôlé et l'hôte nous a bien réclamé près de 120 dh de plus que prévu dès notre arrivée ce qui gâche fortement notre sentiment sur le séjour.

Very friendly owner who tries his best. Hearing worked perfectly. Location amazing, right at the outer centre of the Medina. The breakfast was fantastic.

It wasn't like in the photos, we only had access to our room and not to the common area. The owner told us that this was because the rest was booked by a family who didn't want anyone to enter. Unfortunately this meant that breakfast was served outside (it was winter and cold). But we asked the owner to serve it in our room and he agreed, so it was ok. Unfortunately the owner doesn't speak proper English or Spanish, so we could only communicate with translating apps, and they didn't translate well to Arabic. The shower and toilet are together, so if you shower, the toilet will be wet for a few hours and the floor as well. Definitely bring slippers!

El anfitrión fue muy comunicativo durante toda nuestra estancia. Siempre estuvo disponible para responder nuestras dudas, y aunque llegamos tarde el primer día (alrededor de las 00:00), nos recibió sin problema. Las camas eran muy cómodas, lo que hizo que descansáramos bien. Además, el último día salimos muy temprano y aun así nos preparó el desayuno para llevar, lo cual fue un gesto muy amable.

Sin embargo, hubo varios aspectos que no fueron del todo satisfactorios: 1. Comunicación fuera de la plataforma: Después de hacer la reserva por Booking, todo se gestionó a través de WhatsApp, lo cual me pareció poco profesional, ya que no quedaba constancia de las conversaciones ni cambios dentro de la propia plataforma de Booking. 2. Habitación diferente a la reservada: Aunque habíamos reservado una habitación específica, nos asignaron una inferior que no se parecía en nada a las fotos del anuncio. Las imágenes no coincidían con lo que nos dieron. (Subiré las fotos para que se vea la diferencia). 3. Método de pago: Aunque en el anuncio indicaba que se podía pagar con tarjeta, al llegar nos dijeron que solo se aceptaba efectivo. A pesar de esto, nos cobraron un 10% de impuestos como si hubiéramos pagado con tarjeta, lo cual fue confuso y poco claro. 4. Ubicación: La ubicación está a unos 20 minutos de la Puerta Azul, que es el centro turístico y la zona más segura. El área donde está el alojamiento no nos pareció muy segura.

Wir hatten das gesamte Apartment, es gab viel Platz. Es war sehr schön dekorativ eingerichtet und sauber. Die Ausstattung war gut. Alles im marokkanischen Stil. Es gab 3 Zimmer mit je einem Bad.

Die Unterkunft liegt am Rand der Medina im nicht touristischen Teil, man läuft ca. 8 min bis man die erste touristische Infrastruktur hat. Das würde ich nicht als negativ betrachten, sondern bringe das hier zur Info rein. In den anderen Bewertungen liest man vom aufmerksamen Gastgeber und tollen Frühstück, dass kann ich leider nicht bestätigen. Der Gastgeber schien nicht wirklich Zeit für uns zuhaben. Schon die Ankunft war etwas holprig. Er wollte uns vom nahegelegenen Parkplatz abholen kommen, was dann zeitlich scheinbar doch nicht so passte. Er schickte „einen Freund“, der sich später als Gepäckträger herausstellte. Da wir nur einen Koffer hatten und den selber ziehen wollten, verschwand der „Freund“ plötzlich und wir machten uns selbst auf den Weg. Auf halben Weg kann uns dann der Besitzer doch entgegen, ohne viele Worte. Er schloss uns auf und das war es dann mehr oder weniger. Er zeigte uns nicht die Wohnung, teilte nicht den Wlan Zugang mit. Als ich dann wegen Frühstück nachfragte, fragte er dann ob wir es uns nicht selber machen könnten „um uns nicht zu stören“. Er stellte dann die Sachen bereit, morgens konnten wir dann frisches Brot auf der Epicerie um die Ecke abholen. Nachfrage ob wir was brauchen oder wie es uns geht, erst als wir uns zufällig sahen am zweiten Tag. Wir waren 3 Nächte dort. Insgesamt nichts schlimmes, aber wem service wichtig ist, der sollte nicht die Unterkunft buchen.

Были двумя семьями , три отдельные спальни в каждой свой санузел и гостиная с диванами. Первый этаж. От парковки 5 мин пешком, парковка 40 дирхамов. Хорошо расположен, в Медине, но в тихом месте и близко к выходу. Хозяин рриветливый, всьретил, хороший завтрак накрыл.

Het verblijf was zeer positief. Fijn om allemaal een eigen badkamer te hebben. Alles was schoon en het ontbijt werd gezellig geserveerd aan de grote tafel. Goed en lekker.Ook was er een zitje buiten. En alles op loopafstand van het centrum. De prijs is zeer redelijk. Gastvrij en de eigenaar heeft ons goed geholpen met het regelen van taxi's. Zeer aan te bevelen.

Lo mejor el anfitrión , nos trató como si fuésemos de la familia. Nos puso un desayuno de 10. El alojamiento estaba muy bien. Muy recomendable , volvería a repetir .

Nous sommes arrivés très tard à cause d'un retard d'avion, notre hôte a eu la gentillesse de nous recevoir dans la nuit. Il nous a envoyé un taxi de l'aéroport au logement. La chambre était très bien, le lieu est propre, le lit très confortable, une petite terrasse à disposition . Toute la maison est joliment décorée. Au matin nous avons eu la chance déguster un petit déjeuner typique qui était délicieux. Merci infiniment pour cet accueil ! Nous recommandons votre hébergement à 100%. Choukran 🙏🫶

Le quartier n'est pas le plus sûr, difficile de faire quelques pas sans être abordé pour de la vente ou des visites forcées mais cela n'a rien à voir avec le logement ou notre hôte.

Riad grande, ben sistemato e silenzioso, comodo per il parcheggio pubblico a pagamento (economico). Ottimo il servizio per la colazione. Buon rapporto qualità-prezzo.

Purtroppo la zona è abbastanza degradata, come tutta la Medina di Fes.

Abdelali nos ha hecho sentir como en casa desde el primer momento, siempre amable y atento. El apartamento cómodo, tranquilo y muy bien ubicado para llegar a los diferentes puntos de interés de la Medina. El desayuno muy rico... Un placer empezar así el día :) Volveríamos a alojarnos en Dar al Mardi sin dudarlo. Shukran!

Our best accommodation option in Morocco. The host is just everything you wish to expect when travelling in a foreign country. He came to pick us up at the closest parking spot and carried all our belongings all the way to the house. He booked the restaurant for us once we arrived there and it was delicious. Most amazingly, as we did have no plans for the day, he called a young guy that led us throughout the whole city and to some lookouts WITHOUT ASKING ANYTHING BACK. we basically got a free tour around Fe with a local and made a new friend. Last, at 7 in the morning, he came to the house to prepare the breakfast for 8 people, all by himself. We've been lucky. He's one of the best people ever met on the road.

The location was good, not too far from the Bab Guissa gate for tour pick-ups etc. The room was fine, although a table lamp would have been a nice bonus. The bed was huge, and there was a nice warm blanket. I enjoyed the breakfasts. The washroom was what spoiled it for me. First the toilet wasn't flushing, after that was fixed I had to request toilet paper, as I was only given about a quarter of a roll. But what made the stay uncomfortable was the bathroom floor would not fully drain, and it was a wet-room style bathroom, so there was always water on the floor by the toilet. The bathmat that was just outside the bathroom door, was sopping wet when I artived, and stayed that way my entire stay.

Abd al-Ali was a wonderful host. He answered all our questions, arranged transportation, and overall made sure we had everything we needed. Our fight arrived an hour late but he stayed up late to help us get settled in. The facility is close to a gate in the old city which makes it easy to access. It is in easy walking distance from the major attractions in the medina. Highly recommend Dar Al Mardi for your stay in Fes.

Good communication with the host

Our stay at this Riad was truly enjoyable. The host is incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to assist with any requests. The room was simple but nice, and in the morning we had a delicious breakfast prepared by him. We also took the desert tour he recommended, and it was a fantastic experience.

The only downsides were that the restaurant he suggested the first night was quite expensive, and the shower wasn’t very comfortable.

This review is about the apartment, not the seperate guest rooms. Its big, comfortable, has some style and is located near the Medina. The owner is kind and helpful. But...

...its not an apartment at all. You have the 3 guest rooms and the big livingroom of the hostel all for yourself. The promised kitchen is shared with the owner. Owner lives in a room opposite the kitchen with his wife and baby. There is a big open space above the door between the 'apartment' and the kitchen, so you can hear everything of each other. It lacks the privacy of a real apartment.

Right in the walls of the famous medina of Fez, comfortable accommodation with a very kind guest who made a perfect breakfast for us. Wish we could stay longer, but so much place to see in Morocco.

The owner was very responsive and prompt in communication prior to our arrival, which made the check-in process smooth.

- The breakfast was okay but did not include coffee. - The toilet flush did not work properly. Although the host attempted to fix it, the issue remained unresolved. - The rooms have very thin walls, making it difficult to sleep due to noise from neighboring rooms (e.g., snoring). - The bed quality was poor, with a noticeable dip in the lower back area that caused significant discomfort and a backache. Additionally fyi - parking nearby costs 40 DH per 24 hours, and transporting luggage to the hotel via handcart adds another 20 DH. I think this feedback would apply to anyone renting a car and staying near the medina.

We had an amazing stay at Dar El Magri in Fez! The place is fantastic, with excellent facilities and everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hot water was reliable, and the accommodations were clean and well-maintained. What truly sets this place apart is the exceptional hospitality. The staff treated us with such kindness and care, always making sure we were comfortable and happy. It truly felt like a home away from home. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fez – it’s a gem!

The host was very nice, contact me promptly and arranged for a pick up from the station to the flat which was very clean and comfortable, easy acces to the old Medina as well as close to taxi areas to go to the new city. Would recommend.

The host is a friendly cheerful and helpful man. The accommodation is typical Moroccan style. All three bedrooms and toilets are very clean and tidy. He keeps good communication with us and makes us feel at home. He also guided us to the accommodation to ensure that we didn’t get lost. Kitchen was well equipped and fresh breakfast provided. He’s helpful in planning and arranging for our desert trip. He was courteous and treated us like family. He’s become a friend that we can trust in Morocco so I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone.

AbdalAli has been by far the best host and really did his best to take care of us. location is perfect and his place is one of cleanest and best one available to visit the old Fes.

Nothing that AbdalAli can control but the approach to his place is a little let down and doesn't do justice to how amazing his place really is.

The property was clean and neat and it gives the feeling of old Medina. My experience was fabulous.

Really nice quiet and clean accomodation away from the hustle of the Medina. Stunning scenery outside the city walls close by. Quality air conditions provide also. We would definetely recommend if you prefer your accomodation to provide some respite from the medina. We were particularly grateful for the hosts generous hospitality at the end of a stressful day. Kindly offering to pick us up a takeaway dinner and bringing it back to the accomodation which was greatly appreciated after a late check in.

We had a lovely stay here in Fes. The host was very kind and welcoming. Checking was smooth and the location was easy to find! The room was perfect, just was we needed for a few nights in the Medina. Very clean space and comfortable room. The riad is a walking distance to the Chouara Tannery and medina. The person who received us Abdelali was very helpful, friendly and honest. There are some ruins close to the riad, interesting place to go to have the view of the town.

Great comfortable facilities, nice quiet location in the Medina. The host was outstanding, trying his best to make sure we had the best stay possible! Even though there was a language barrier he helped us with anything we needed! The breakfast was also delicious and fuelled us up for a day of exploring. Would definitely recommend!

The riyad was well located, easily accessible by car and also very close to the center of the medina (15 min walking distance). Owner was very friendly, he gave us a warm welcome and also arranged various tours for us at good prices. There was a good breakfast and it was a quiet location. Nice Flat in very good condition. Just a few hundert meters from the city centre and very close to parking. The owner is very friendly and cares for all possible wishes, but doesn't try to make you buy a carpet. Breakfast was one of the best we enjoyed in Marokko. Slight variations from day to day. We asked for milk for our daughter and he went straight to the shop to get some. Getting early breakfast was also no problem - much better than bigger riads or hotels.

Hard to find as there is no sign. Not negative but worth mentioning: the owner was present in the flat during our stay, however he is a decent person and we had no trouble. Communication was sometimes difficult as we don't speak french, however Google translate helps!

Very nice new dar in a great location for visiting Fes medina. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and helped us a lot. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. They also served delicious couscous and breakfast.
