Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Hotel located conveniently on the main street, no parking though. We were kindly informed by the staff where to park (nearby) and assisted with our luggage. Whole team was very professional, polite and helpful. Rooms - especially bathrooms - a bit old fashioned. Rather depressing window view. Breakfast tasty and nicely served.
Location was just what we needed in the are, lovely breakfasts. Bed very comfortable.
A little outdated, could do with a lick of paint and touch up. Some worn out carpet but nothing that was a real issue.
Pub was nice oldy worldy
Room very shabby not wat I expected tired looking and basic
Friendly staff, very helpful
My room was VERY noisy from the kitchen extractor. Also fire escape light was very bright. Could have read my book without turning a light on! No parking despite parking being advertised
The downstairs was really nice looked like someone cared about the place. The food was fair to good but not outstanding..
The room we stayed in was supposed to be superior we was very disappointed, chips in the bath ,holes in the bathroom door, tiles loose at the end of bath, the decorative condition of the room was poor paint pealing of the windowsill, stains of coffee on the carpet and walls. Certainly not as described in advertising and certainly not worth the price .
Beautiful old building with so much character in a fab village. Kent as it should be.
Nothing
The Manager is just perfect, and therefore the staff too, a wonderful team, without all the fluff and promises, all just doing. The friendliness and cleanliness a par above what is normal standard elsewhere. The welcome was friendly and informative, the evening meal (the best Fish and Chips we had in the UK) The breakfast was delicious. The room...old wordly, in its best sense, we would love to come again, and can recommend wholeheartedly.
No idea....it was all wonderfull.
Our stay was very good. Convenient free car parking nearby. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a good sized room.
The only downside was that we were in a loft room on one of the hottest nights of the year and the window could only be opened a couple of inches.
Enjoyed breakfast, and dinner on both Evenings. Bed very comfortable. Clean room. Friendly and helpful staff.
We were not informed until arrival that on site parking was not available. Room Rather tired, and could do with a refresh. Bathroom missing towel rail, for sink, soap dish. USB connectors.
Hotel ancien, chalereux et très traditionnel. Personnel agréable, jolie petite ville pour faite etape !
Very friendly staff Food excellent
Not the hotel's fault but it was very very noisy traffic. Woke us up very early due to deliveries going on.
The Hotel was Excellent, the location is beautiful and the history of the hotel fits perfectly. Food quality is very high and the bar and ambiance super enjoyable. What makes this hotel one to recommend and revisit is the Team. All staff are outstanding with Medi offering a service level you would expect at the Savoy ! She went above and beyond to look after us, was a delight to deal with and is worthy of any recognition you can bestow on her.
Only the lack of air con which was understandable in such an old building, room fan was of no effect
Leuk hotel, lekker terras, mooie omgeving
Kamers kunnen een kleine opknapbeurt gebruiken. Even een likje verf doet wonderen. Geluid van verkeer overdag is hinderlijk. S'nachts is het stil.
Have stayed here before. Really lovely 1600 year old inn in a quaint village. Very friendly staff, great food. Nice garden area too. Room very clean with tea and coffee making facilities.
Old world charm smashing new beer garden
Unfortunately it was unusually hot and because of the age of the hotel no air con
The very friendly staff and interesting to the building
Having to park in a public car park overnight
We have stayed here before and really like the area
There were black hairs in the bath!! I have ginger hair and my husband is bald! Not nice
Location great for our needs and in a nice area. The area has a good feel about it. Wish we’d had time to explore locally. The staff very friendly and helpful. In general, a pleasant stay. Our breakfast was very nice. The property lovely and quirky/interesting. The pub dinner plentiful.
Room was sufficient although we slept poorly. The bed comfortable enough but just a standard double. Go for king size if possible. The bathroom could do with some TLC but everything in working order.
History and location.
The hotel bar closed at 9.30pm and the downstairs areas closed by 10.30pm with the doors locked, lights switched off and area alarmed. This meant you only had your bedroom from 10.30pm - not something you would normally expected in a hotel.
Food quality,, bathroom (mostly), shower, breakfast good in part (scrambled eggs, yoghurt, croissants), shower.
Inattentive service dining outside Breakfast tea, no toast, fruit/granola/yoghurt was 85% yoghurt. Nowhere to place toothbrush etc above basin. Very hot room on sunny day.
I believe we were upgraded as the room looked a lot better than the photos. There was a jacuzzi bath but the jacuzzi bit didn’t work. As we weren’t even expecting that it wasn’t at all an issue. Great breakfast, I wish I had room for the croissants! I had a vegan and my partner a full English. Very happy. Evening meal was lovely.
Location was convenient The room, restaurant and bar was clean and well maintained Staff welcoming Food fresh and good quality

Bar was good. Staff were busy but helpful
Broken sash window lock in our room. The window opened onto a small balcony which meant that anybody from adjoining rooms could have got into our room by just lifting the window. The door lock was also extremely basic. Two steps down to get from the bathroom to the bedroom could have been very dangerous for elderly visitors. Maybe put a light on the steps or use different, light coloured carpet on them to make them more visible, especially at night. The rear car park cannot be used as it is full of tables and chairs, at least in summer. That makes dropping off/picking up luggage difficult. Carpet in our room was stained.
Ras
The staff super. Nothing was too much trouble. Dining room so clean & attractive. The crew there were intelligent.
Some emergency roadworks near by....not their problem.
Atmosphäre sehr gut
Staff went out of their way to welcome us, waiting for us to arrive at 11pm, as we'd been badly delayed. Great breakfast. Comfortable room. It's a lovely, quirky 16th century coaching Inn.
The hotel is slowly renovating some rooms, so bathroom is a bit dated. They are replacing all of these in rotation.
Very nice and comfortable accommodation
Parking entrance
Excellent breakfast. Delightful staff.
It's hard to describe The George as a hotel. It is really a pub with rooms, which is why I felt it was wildly expensive for what it provided. The staff were kept incredibly busy. There is no parking. Our room was ok but it was very noisy - football was on until very late.
Location was good and the staff - in particular Miles - were extremely helpful. There was some refurbishment of the electricity in the building underway and one of our rooms did not have power to the sockets. Miles was particularly understanding of the situation and the room was changed.
There is no parking at the hotel. One of our rooms only had a small window which looked on to the fans from the kitchen which given the heatwave was very annoying as the windows had to be kept shut to try and reduce the smell and noise. The beds were very comfortable and the tea/coffee facility was good. Sadly the decor and fabric of the building in the bedrooms we had was looking very tired and in need of a refurbishment.
Gastvrijheid
Geen airco, hygiëne kon beter
The rooms were lovely
Breakfast was included and was very good with great friendly service. Dinner at the hotel was also very good. We tried different things every night and they were all tasty. The room was cosy and a good size. A fan was provided in room as the weather was hot. The bathroom was decent, and clean and the bed was comfy and I slept well each night. There was a great selection of tea and coffee provided int he room with a kettle and a coffee machine. There was also compliantly water and cookies which were a nice touch. The hotel atmosphere was great with such interesting history.
The food would take a little long to come every evening we ate there even though the bar and restaurant was not busy. There was mould on the wall in the shower which could have been easily cleaned off and there was greasy marks on the mirror in the room. There were building works taking place which we were not told about before arrival. This made it so we could not park in there car parking area. There was a free car park 2 min away from hotel so this was not too much of a problem however it should have been disclosed. Also the workmen started at 6.30 in the morning and were a little nosy. They also decided to re-varnish the bars at 10.00 in the eve and the terrible smell got trapped on our corridor all night and made the dining room smell in the morning when we came down for breakfast on 2 of the mornings.
Located close to where we were attending an event. The staff were very friendly and had taken the trouble to remove the duvet on the bed to take account of the hot weather. Breakfast was tasty.
It took a little longer to check us in because they had forgotten to do the pre-check-in, but it caused only a very minor delay. The small fan which they gave us for the bedroom was very noisy and not quite up to the job. There were only small tubes of bath and shower gell in the bathroom in stead of proper soap.
Warm and friendly welcome from the team. Perfect location for visiting local gardens (Sissinghurst, Great Dixter). Room was very comfortable and spacious, with amazing shower. Fabulous breakfast selection, and free parking. Very interesting historical building and high street - worth a short walk towards the windmill.
Fint litet hotel Trevlig personal God frukost
Hellende vloeren. Door verbouwing waren restaurant en terras afgesloten. Geen enkele vorm van compensatie. Moesten bij aankomst gelijk de kamer betalen.
Everything was excellent
Nothing
Historic building, great location, friendly staff
Room was quite warm (no fan) and noisy with people / cars from the street
Room , area and food
A bit noisy with outside tables
Xxx
The oldy worldly pub/hotel is in a lovely village and has a good vibe.
Disappointing food in the restaurant and was very upset that our room was not serviced on our 1st day. We returned to find an unmade bed and the towels as we left them!
Nice place. Excellent food. I regret I wasn’t able to receive the best reception as I was slightly annoyed about the car parking.
Car parking could be an issue. Please make sure you check you have paid upon check in else you could be chased down the street after checking out.
Loved the staff and the extra care they gave our dog
The room could have been a little cleaner. The bed was amazing to look at but dusty. And mattress could be turned as it sunk a little
Fantastisk personale. Dejlig mad og lækkert lokalt øl.
Dinner was excellent! Tomahawk pork steak is delicious! As was the stone bass. Excellent, friendly staff. Great overall value for money.
High St location incredibly noisy and sweary early evening bar atmosphere off putting.
A very good breakfast in a very old House
Good var and restaurant in excellent location with off street parking

Lovely location. Pretty pub and rooms. Wonderful staff throughout. Decent breakfast options. Good choice of food and alcohol for lunch and evening meals. Could park easily. Staff could not do enough for us.
Nothing
Breakfast was excellent
Classic old pub with heaps of character
Wasn’t anything I did not like
Good breakfast
Hot in our room and the fan in our room was very noisy
Very convenient geographically for our party and a lovely village.
Very old building which requires a lot of maintenance, ie paint work, new windows to replace old rotten ones etc. shower tricky to work, but all in all a great stay and the staff are amazing!
Historisch context...
Breakfast was good bed was very comfortable Staff were friendly and welcoming
Bedroom was a little dated. An additional chair would have been beneficial instead of large wardrobe.
Excellent staff and the food was of a high standard.
Bathroom very dated a
The staff was the best! Very friendly and accommodating. We could get anything at any time. The breakfast was amazing and the food in general was excellent.
unfortunately we visited during the heat dome in May and there was no air conditioning. I know air conditioning is not possible in this hotel, but the nights were warm. The staff did provide a fan though.
The staff are wonderful - shout out to Mina; she is the best! Convenient place to visit Sissinghurst and Igtham Mote. I loved exploring the paths around town.
Very old building means sloping floors and hot rooms.
Incredible 100/100 experience at The George Hotel. Felt like time travel to the medieval age, but with luxuries of modern age. As soon as we arrived Miles greeted us and showed us around, he was very welcoming and made as feel like we belong here as soon as we stepped in. He told us about the history of the place and who stayed there which left us in awe. Private parking in the hotel courtyard was included for free which is very appreciate. All the staff member we met were the nicest people at breakfast, and checkout.. Oh btw amazing breakfast in the lovely brasserie restaurant
There was nothing we didn't like.
Proximity to final destination
Early morning noise from bin lorries. Snorer in neighbouring room
Freundliches Personal, Restaurant auch o.k.
DRECK, RUNTERGEKOMMENE ZIMMER IND Flure, Zimmer 9 chaotisch laut und null Aussicht, Waschbecken und Badewanne kaputt. Teppiche schmutzig. Der Inhaber investiert nicht. Trotzdem teuer
Food was quite good with variety. Room, facing front street was quiet. Staff very helpful and friendly, all in an historic hotel.
Steeped in history
It wasn’t very clean
Very comfortable and atmospheric interior. Staff were friendly
Fantastic staff, they were chatty and helpful. The food was really good quality and well flavoured. The location is good as it’s right in the centre of Cranbrook. If you can’t find a spot in one of their 7 parking spots then there is a good amount of free parking near by.
The room is poor quality the price you pay. The bathroom in particular was terrible, there was peeling paint, the shower head was very dirty, the taps leaked onto the floor, the tiles were stained, the skirting board was also dirty/stained and there was a huge number of stone chips in the bathtub (they did note on a sticker on the wall that they had sanded them down for you - so your feet weren’t cut by them) The walls were also dirty and scuffed, poorly painted ceiling and walls
So nettes Ambiente.
The hotel is in a lovely village and looks wonderful and the staff were very helpful.
The room was quite basic although comfortable.
Room was very poor and dated, tap not secure Carpet worn , paint work dirty and worn stair carpet very poor safe hazard. Staff was very good staff said this has been reported to head office before
Food
Large, comfortable bedroom. Lovely bathroom with toiletries. Delicious cooked breakfast. The bar quiz was great fun!
Memories, history, kindness of staff
Music (we prefer classical music😏)
The meals were very good, very comfy bed, nice friendly feel to the hotel / restaurant /bar. Happy to recommend.
Bathroom door hinges need lubrication.
Friendly crew, good location, good value for money
No hairdryer
Super vriendelijke ontvangst. Heerlijk warm bad . Koffie en thee op de kamer.
