Reviewed Sep 2, 2026Lily was a great host such a nice and lovely woman. She was there as soon as we get to the cottage and the house was perfect for us, everything was super clean. Lily even brought some breakfast ( eggs, milk, butter ) for our very first day. Perfect. I would recommend this cottage in the blink of an eye.
You can say that the location is not near from anything but it's the best thing in Ireland to enjoy the narrow and winding roads and the green is everywhere.

Reviewed Feb 9, 2026Mai's Cottage is idyllic. It is located in a quiet rural area. Clean and comfortable. Lily, the host, is welcoming and ready to answer any queries. In my personal opinion, Mai's Cottage could well have been used to model the fictitious cottage in the film 'The Holiday' I highly recommend Mai's Cottage.

Reviewed Aug 28, 2025El lugar es muy tranquilo y la casa tiene todo lo necesario para pasar una estancia agradable. La anfitriona Lily fue muy amable y nos atendió a nuestra llegada. Incluso nos dejó algunos productos (leche, mermelada, huevos,...) para el desayuno. Es un lugar algo apartado pero perfecto para disfrutar de un buen descanso. La casa es muy pintoresca y el entorno está muy bien cuidado.
Para acceder y desplazarte desde allí para visitar otros lugares es mejor que te guste conducir por estrechas carreteras rurales. Para mí no fue un problema. No olvides el navegador.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2025Das Haus ist wunderschön und die Vermieterin ist total nett und äußerst hilfsbereit. Wir fanden die Lage prima, es ist halt etwas ruhiger dort. Wir waren an verschiedenen Orten Golf spielen und die Plätze sind phantastisch und vor allem sehr günstig. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Reviewed Jul 25, 2025Lily ist die perfekte Gastgeberin. Sie kümmert sich, ist aber überhaupt nicht aufdringlich. Das Haus ist super ausgestattet. Und ein Starter-Kit Lebensmittel war sogar im Kühlschrank. Alles funktioniert und ist sauber. Ganz in der Nähe ist der Ballyhoura Mountain Trail. Eine tolle und nicht überlaufene Wandermöglichkeit gerade mit Kindern!
Es ist ein altes Haus, dessen sollte man sich bewusst sein. Eine Handvoll Spinnen finden den Weg rein und werden zu freundlichen Mitbewohnern. 😉 Es ist etwas abseits. Ohne Auto kommt man nirgends hin.

Reviewed Sep 29, 2024Location away from tourist destinations. Lilly went above and beyond anything we expected from a host. My husband went missing in the car and we later found out he had a flat and had to walk back a mile or so to the cottage. Lilly was ready to help us find him before he returned home. That night she brought some whiskey to help us get over our harrowing day. She provided some great travel trips as well. If you want a peaceful getaway I recommend Mai’s Cottage
I enjoyed the seclusion. The men in the group would have preferred something closer to a bigger town

Reviewed Sep 23, 2024Wonderful rural location and a charming and helpful host. Very well stocked kitchen with everything we needed and then some. Lily kindly put some fresh eggs and milk and bread in for us as well! Nice garden area outside the door and gated access. Wood burner was available for use. Had a bath big enough for tall people!
One minor issue with last cleaning that was not a problem at all. To run a bath required contacting the host and getting more water heated. Additionally the central heating is controlled by the host in her cottage. Neither of these were a problem at all, and she was quick to help and get us what we needed... this was merely a slight inconvenience.

Reviewed Jul 21, 2024Amazing cottage, two floors, fully equipped kitchen with washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, oven... just like a second home. The host was lovely and very helpful (we had a medical emergency on our last day, and she booked a doctor for us). Coffee machine with pods provided, and the milk/eggs/butter/bread/jam in the fridge on arrival were an excellent surprise.
All showers in Ireland are a little difficult to operate, and this one was no exception.

Reviewed Jun 5, 2024What a charming cottage in a beautiful location! From the moment we pulled it through the gate, I loved it! The old stone cottage has been beautifully updated and decorated. The cottage is clean and cozy and very well equipped with everything we could have needed. Lily left fresh eggs, bread, milk, butter and jam for our arrival. She was very helpful and responsive before and during our stay. The cottage is in a very quiet location surrounded by beautiful fields. We used Waze to find our way. This is a place you will need to have a car as it’s way off any main roads. I would recommend a stay here to anyone.

Reviewed May 28, 2023Had such an amazing experience staying at Mai's Cottage. The cottage was so beautiful and clean. It had everything you needed. The area around the cottage is so scenic and peaceful. Such an amazing place to get away, and it's right beside Ballyhoura horse trekking, which was just fantastic for us. We can't wait to book again and will be mentioning the cottage to family and friends.
