Clean, quiet, family history
Gorgeous cottage with a beautiful rural view. Well equipped with the option to buy extras, and easy communication with the hosts. The fire was a real delight on a cold night and the place was immaculately clean.
It was an oasis of peace and quiet.
The cottage is historic but has all the creature comforts. We loved being able to light a fire in the evening
The toilet wash up area was part of the laundry, but that was a minor inconvenience in the scheme of a converted historic cottage
Oh my goodness this cottage is gorgeous
Loved it all
Location was quiet and just what we were looking for.
Beautiful, warm and cozy cottage that has all the comforts of home. Plenty of space for our family of five. Definitely staying at the cottage again in the future. Highly recommend.
Just wow. Cutest stone cottage ever. Attention to detail and lots of wee extras. Highly recommend staying here at end of Rail Trail for a treat.
Perfect
Lovely old, renovated cottage. Had all the facilities we needed, in a quiet rural setting.
Minor - needed shelter & mats at back door, as it was raining.
Facilities clean and tidy. Beds ultra comfy and Cosy.
It would have been nice to meet our hosts. Possibly a little pricey.
everything
it was a little out of town
The breakfast was lovely, and we were super delighted that there was such a fabulous range of Tea! We cooked for ourselves both nights, so were super grateful for the well equipped kitchen! Also loved playing board games in front of the open fire! Idyllic! Ngā mihi nui!
It's a quaint historied old stone cottage. The location ... a few km out of town ... is very quiet and the night sky is spectacular.
The front porch and window sills were covered with bird droppings. It seemed as if bees. perhaps wasps, were setting up a nest under one of the front eaves. The hot water service kept running to cold during our showers. I thought, maybe, it was a small storage system and we'd just exceeded it's volume ... but there's a medium Rinnai Infiniti on the outside wall. Overall 'feel' of being a bit cheap and mercenary with minimalist cleaning, some weird setting of the hot water service, almost empty 'butter', but lots of signs as to additional stuff you can buy. Those things can be a bit of a balance, but they way everything was here it felt more mercenary than helpful.
Quiet, historical, spacious.
Great little stone cottage
Bed abut soft
Absolutely superb in every way. Obviously a lot of thought had gone into providing a comfortable and relaxing stay in a delightful location. We particularly liked the booklet explaining the history of the property.
It's such an awesome cottage in such an amazing location so quiet. With amazing night skies. Great breakfast selection with great coffee Thanks so much.
Stayed one night before starting the Otago Rail Trail. Great location and facilities. Appreciated the extra treats that could be purchased. Enjoyed learning the history of this cute cottage.
Lovely variety for breakfast. Well stock with extras at a reasonable price available. Nice and quiet, perfect. Not far from the small town, easy to find. Just loved it.
On one of the nights there were noises in the wall, annoying till feel asleep. 😆
Breakfast was great, location was secluded and beautiful farm house.
Quiet and peaceful very warm very easy to find
Magnificent and cosy country cottage. Stocked with staples for breakfast. Host was excellent- brilliant hospitality
Nothing - it was perfect
The property is very secluded with no unnatural sounds. The hosts were very welcoming and provided all the information we needed for an enjoyable stay including continental breakfast.
The wide open space and homeliness. Stunning scenery and a step back in time with modern comforts.
Amazing location. Lovely cottage with lots of character. Had everything you needed.
Beautifully decorated farm cottage - so comfortable, clean and warm. Had everything we needed and more! Very helpful hosts. Perfect for our cosy winter catch up with friends.
We needed to find somewhere for a final overnight stay at the end of a two-week journey from Auckland to Dunedin, during which we'd stayed in many beautiful places and all sorts of different accommodation. Taieri Bank Cottage proved to be an absolute treat before we finally rolled on into Dunedin. A brief handwritten history to this highly individual property was provided in the well-appointed, spacious and very comfortable old house, with has a thoroughly modern kitchen and good bathroom facilities. There were many charming, homely features that made the stay particularly enjoyable. We were encouraged to use the open fire, which provided welcome heat for a winter's evening. In the morning, we awoke to the first frost we'd seen on this trip, with sheep peering at us over the garden wall through the early mist before the sun broke through. The cottage is some distance from Middlemarch, the nearest town, with pleasant views across the plain to the surrounding, distant hills.
A gorgeous old house steeped in history
