Easy check in easy parking clean and friendly

My daughter was with us and was to sleep on the pull out sleeper sofa. The mattress was so stained that she refused to sleep on it. I don’t blame her. There were no sheets or pillows in the room for the sleeper sofa either. I had to get them myself. We slept on top of the mattress in the bedroom because we did not want to find out how stained that mattress was. They really need to put a queen sized bed in the room as this one was a full and very uncomfortable. Repairs needed to be done badly.You can see that there was a lot of water damage in the room. You can see the drywall tape. The sink in the bathroom was clogged. You can tell the whole building felt damp. Smelled like a barn also or had a distinct odor. The one positive I have is the staff was nice and the room set up was nice with a two burner stove and a full fridge. It would be good for someone to stay for a period of time that’s if they make the proper repairs.

Clean room. A decent place to stay.

Minimal. I had a two bedroom room but it had a mini fridge. I stayed here in June and had a one bedroom with a full size fridge. Also, no vanity in the bathroom. Just a sink and a ledge. Sausage and gravy breakfast was plain Jane, n95h8nt special.

The location was the best part of the experience. It is within walking distance to several good restaurants and shopping is also close by. Iowa State is a short couple minute drive or about a 2 mile walk which is nice as well.

The hotel room was dirty. They did not provide coffee in the room, no Kleenex, or fresh towels were provided. The breakfast was free and terrible. The hotel is run down and not being cared for as it should be.

Location, staff, amenities were all wonderful. The breakfast was decent and made life easier, rooms were well taken care of, the soaps provided were a pleasant surprise and the staff is the absolute best.

We we’ve stayed here several times, some rooms need a thorough deep cleaning (coloring on the walls from past guests) and some have better A/C than others.

The room size was fantastic, and the front desk worker was friendly and very helpful.

The mattress for the pullout couch had red stains on it, we also found red, sticky residue on the table and the bathroom door. We would have preferred more variety for breakfast (eggs, toppings for the oatmeal).

Affordable and all units have full size fridge and hot plates

Significantly older property - ancient couches and not enough equipment to actually cook a meal in the suite.

There was a jar of peanut butter and a bag of garbage left in a cabinet . In the bathroom there was a washcloth from previous guest hanging over shower curtain rod . There was no plug for bathtub . I had to use a rag . There was a lightbulb out in bathroom . No decaf coffee in room and no creamer .

Location is great. Staff is even better

We did have an issue at check in our room had a broken ac unit. Went back to front desk to tell them and they immediately switched our room with no issues. Excellent service!

The location.

It was unclean. Needs work, bathroom shower rail mount was broken, hanging off the wall. Refrigerator was not clean and broken, dishwasher was not clean. Didn't look as well as picture showed on booking site.The wall in shower area was damaged. The hotel could use some improvements/ upgrading.

I booked this hotel based on price AND that there was a pull out sofa bed my brother could use in the living room, giving both of us our own space with me in the bedroom. Also liked the full size fridge and generous table. The room was comfortable.

1. There were no sugar or creamer packets for the coffee in the room. 2. Had to ask for bedding for the sofa bed; none provided in room. 3. No extra blankets provided. 4. Small kitchenette with sink, dishwasher, and two burner stove. But no dish soap for sink and no soap for the dishwasher. 5. Dishes in dishwasher were dirty. Had been run but dishes didn't come clean. 6. We were 1st ones at hot breakfast that was provided and was disappointing...biscuits dry and gravy luke warm. Waffle griddle took forever to heat up and we didn't wait. Only froot loops and cornflakes available. Dispenser for fruit juice didn't work but clerk did come over and turn on. We just added hot water to packets of oatmeal and called it good.

Has suites so it is good if you want a kitchenette

Nothing was available and working. Microwave was broken. Dishes were in the dishwasher, still dirty, fitness room machines barely working or broken. Pool useless. Breakfast horrible.

Good location, close to Iowa State campus.

Ask for a room with 2 beds and told that they couldn't because there was a wedding that had booked the hotel,But there was never more than ten cars, the whole time we were there. Asked for sheets for the pullout Sofa bed and was given to small of sheets. Went back down to front desk to get bigger sheets. The gap under the door for the hallway left the light shine in all of the night. The breakfast for the 1st day that we were there was Biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were dry and crumbly.

Everything. We checked in, got up to our room, and we're shocked. It was 88 degrees in our room, there were no sheet and blankets for the sofa sleeper, the mattress was badly stained yellow and the fridge and bathroom were dirty as well. We promptly checked out. Unfortunately, they got to keep my 121 dollars even though we didn't stay.

John was a great front desk guy. Always busy trying to help customers or working on one project or another. The hotel included a simple breakfast 6-9am, and was in a good location. Walking distance to stores. Short drive to Iowa State University.

The dishwasher had dirty dishes in it when we arrived. Turns out that the dishwasher was either broken or not getting water. Room supposedly came with plates and other amenities but they were not there.

The roomy accommodations and the kitchenette are a good choice for an extended stay. The location was excellent, not too close to our venue and convenient to local restaurants. Good value at this price point.

Check in was courteous but a cold fish.

The pool was nice and warm but there isn't a hot tub like in the picture. The size of the room was good and nice to have a little kitchen.

The fact the pictures show a hot tub but there wasn't. Took us a little. Ten minutes waiting for front desk staff to get checked in

It was close to where we need to go

It didn't have the hot top which I was looking forward to plus it it didn't have extra blankets in the room knowing how many people was going to be there and the breakfast wasn't that great

The price was lower than most in the area which was expensive due to college graduation. The room was large and had a decent kitchen area.

The breakfast was lacking in any options for a low carb diet. The bed was pretty uncomfortable. The dishes were stored in the dishwasher which made me question whether they were clean.

The staff was very good and the breakfast was great.

We had a very sleepless night. The bed was not comfortable. And very small.

I did not like the bed nor the sleeper sofa.As both were very lumpy, but i'm not quite sure what to expect.Since it is a two star hotel.

I liked that it wasn’t in the middle of town and everything was right down the road.

I didn’t like that we had to move rooms because the air conditioner wasn’t working and the room we moved to had soft spots in the floor

Looking through the pictures it showed a hot tub, but we were disappointed when we showed up and found there wasn’t one. We were also told the apartment suite we booked had a personal balcony, but there was no way to get out there. On day 1 of our stay we went down for breakfast and there was absolutely nothing there and no staff in sight, I then had to use the front desk phone to call staff and then when he came out, all he did was fill up the waffle mix and left. Gave us no eggs or bacon that was supposed to be with the waffles. Staff was very rude when we asked for clean sheets for the pull out mattress, front desk man said “yeah you can come get them from the front desk” when we asked if he could bring them up he said “you can come down and get them”. Overall I had a very poor experience.

I was not impressed with the breakfast. The hotel was wonderful.

The milk was sour, they changed it. The bananas were so over ripe. The coffee was very weak with powdered creamer. These are simple things for the quality of the hotel, the breakfast did not match.

Wonderful place, with really good staff and breakfast. Highly recommended!

Nice pool, nice location

I literally found bed bugs in my bed. I even took one of the bugs that was still alive down to the front desk, and they only offered to switch my room. Zero concern, zero apology, and zero compensation.

There were things for breakfast that anyone could eat. Waffles, eggs, sausage links, oatmeal, etc. something for everyone. The room was more than expected as there were 2 private bedrooms, a sitting/TV area and a kitchenette on top of a large bathroom. It was a wonderful space that we used to wait out the winter storm.

The staffs in GrandStay Hotel in Ames is in a very good location for public transport access and the staffs are friendly.

The breakfast is with very limited options. Additionally the room rate was expensive when I extended beyond the duration I booked with booking.com.

Management is the WORST I've ever encountered. Keys not working for room and pool. Room smelled like curry. I could easily go on and on. I'll never go back and will be contacting corporate.

There was black mold on and around the AC vent near the ceiling in the bedroom. I decided to pass on breakfast. The waffle mix had something funky going on. Didn’t trust it. Didn’t want to get sick.

We didn’t have towels, extra bedding for the pullout, enough toilet paper, etc… and every time we called down for what was missing we were told to come and get it and not greeted with a smile.
