The Lodge on Ilona

The welcome drinks was a nice touch, on top of the friendly welcoming by staff (Nadine). The open door is a great idea for guests to know where to enter and felt at ease when entering. The breakfast was plentiful, and hot(excellent). Best granola with yogurt as a starter waiting on the table. Also juice on the table was convenient. The family rooms are big and clean. Bedding comfortable and a spacious bathroom.

Well equipped self-catering cottage, very spacious, super clean and very friendly and helpful staff! They went the extra way to help us!

Bathroom mats were not clean. The room we booked was a bit different from how it was on the internet. ( chair cushion ) There were flying insects( flies & mosquitoes) that could be controlled with an indoor insect trap. The Gin & Tonic cocktail I had was just bland with rock ice cubes instead of crushed ice and no garnish.

Stunning place to stay, clean and very well equipped. Hostess such a lovely person who is extremely helpful!

To get to the property, we had to travel on a road which did not have any street lights. Quite risky

There was an appliance in the room (?fridge) that made noises every 10-15 minutes. While I am able to sleep through it, for those who are light sleepers, this may be uncomfortable and will keep you awake.

Our stay was awesome. Roelien was welcoming and responsive. The accommodation was comfortable, all needs were met. It was secure and private.

The deluxe villa is beautiful & spacious. From the modern bathrooms to the decor in the living room & kitchen. The facilities were quality. Thoughtful details like a container of rusks, 1 litre milk, full container of coffee, tea & even earbuds shows the pride they take in their business. To me it felt like a holiday home. I have to give props to Roelien & her hisband, the property owners. They were so helpful & friendly.

Everything literally, can’t complain.

Roelien contacted me before hand with directions to get there and what to do once at the gate. She ensured that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She assisted with the best route to follow the next morning to get to our destination. We had to request a very early breakfast as times were adjusted for the race that we attended, and she went out of her way to accommodate us.

The place is big and beautiful from the outside. The bedrooms and the bathrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The beds are comfortable. The welcome drink was just orange juice. The yard is huge. The decor is beautiful, but very much ignored, it's not taken care of. Its dirty.

I thought we were visiting a lodge - lodge. BUT ... This is just a house, nothing more. There is basically nothing to do there, it's just a place to sleep. There is no view to anything. The place is around the plots. So, I think the marketing was misleading. I didn't like the fact that the owner was literally on our faces, it's like we were watched, every step, my kids and I were very uncomfortable. We were out of the pool for 2 sec and there she was picking up the towels, I was busy at the basin washing a plate I wanted to reuse, there she was. We went upstairs to sleep hardly 2 minutes she was cleaning where we were seating. So, it was very uncomfortable. The sheets where my mom slept were offish. Like I mentioned, beautiful family house that needs thoroughly cleaning. The furniture was dusty, there were dead flies on the big dining room table. The table runners were old and dirty. I wanted to use the mixer in the bar, OMG, it was dirty and sticky with dead flies in it was just dirty; we never eat breakfast there we had to drive all the way to Irene for food. There are no shops nearby, there's just nothing there to do or see or enjoy. Also, on the website it was never mentioned that there are dogs. The road leading to the house is not good especially in the rain and using a small car. The owner never showed any interest in our stay, she never asked how we slept, if we needed anything, even on our check out, she never asked us anything. If one needs a place to sleep far away from the living, maybe this is the place. Plots, with no life, no view, no nothing but a swimming pool and 2 dogs....I mean even if you book a quite weekend getaway, you expect to see something, a view, hiking or something, here' dololo. Even the owner never recommended anything or places around, like I mentioned, it's like she was not interested. It was not worth the money.

What a beautiful place! We loved our stay. It's an absolute treat. Roelien and Louis are awesome hosts. If ever in the area again, that's where we'll stay. Highly recommended.

Louis and Roelien (the owners) are FANTASTIC hosts. The entire household is super clean, perfect place for a family, couple, or anyone who just needs a different scene. I highly recommend Lodge on Ilona.

Lovely villa perfect for any type of stay. It was comfortable, beautiful outdoor space as well. The host, Roelien are amazing and really caring.

Beautiful place. Very clean, modern venue. The Hosts are very warm, friendly and accommodating people. My child enjoyed the kids play area. Would definitely recommend this venue. We had a lovely stay.

The property, all its facilities and scenery is very nice and to top it all off, the service is friendly and welcoming.

The house was absolutely gorgeous and the hosts were amazing and made us feel at home. Super cozy vibes, beautiful garden outside and comfy room. The pictures look great but it's so much better in person. Roelien and Louis were great hosts and were quick to respond and help out whenever we needed. Had a swim, played on the trampoline and swings outside. It was a great escape from work and the hustle and bustle of inner city life

Nothing to do with the house, but if you don't have your car it might be a little troublesome getting there via bolt/uber. I didn't have my car that weekend and my partner and I had dinner plans etc. Requesting from the place takes long because drivers aren't normally around in that area
