Packbag Comfort Bed & Breakfast

I chose this stay thinking it was a good deal for the price, but my expectation turned out to be wrong. For ₹1000 per person, you can find better stays elsewhere - but not this one. *Main issues:* 1. *No power backup*: If local electricity goes out, you just have to wait. There’s no inverter or generator as a backup. 2. *Location*: It’s a bit down a narrow lane, though that’s not a major issue. 3. *Misleading photos*: The website shows photos from an angle that makes it look like there’s a swimming pool, but there isn’t one at all. 4. *Room condition*: The downstairs room had a strange/unpleasant smell which was not good. 5. *Surroundings*: There’s a bar right behind the property. So if you’re a family or a group of women who are uncomfortable with that, I’d suggest not booking here.

Le chemin de l'hôtel est un peu compliqué à trouver, mais par contre la localisation sur Google maps est très précise, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas en Inde

Robin was very nice and accommodating and contributes to the good vibe in the place. The room is big and comfortable. Great location very close to the beach and all the restaurants but in a quiet area.

Die Lage war zentral und der Balkon mit Blick in dem kleinen Vorgarten war schön. Es kam sogar ein Pfau vorbei.

Das Zimmer entsprach nicht den Fotos, es war sehr viel älter und könnte einen neuen Anstrich vertragen. Der Service war freundlich, aber auf das absolut Wesentliche reduziert. Man hat sich nicht herzlich willkommen gefühlt.

La colazione è sempre uguale (omelette, toast e marmellata) ma per pochi giorni va bene. Comunque nei vicinanze ci sono svariati locali dove fare colazione.

Draps et serviettes pas propres (tâches jaunâtres), des cheveux au sol, accueil pas très sympathique et petit dejeuner tres basique et pas indien (tartine de pain et omelette).

The hotel also helps with arranging cabs and local transportation, which makes travel easy. The property is located about 400 meters from Kovalam Beach, making it very convenient to walk to the beach, swim, and return for a shower. The staff is accommodating and flexible with such requests. Overall, the stay is value for money and a good choice for travelers looking for a relaxed beachside experience.

Access to the hotel is challenging, as you need to walk nearly 150 meters through a very narrow lane from the main road. This can be difficult, especially if you’re carrying luggage or traveling with elderly people. Walking through this lane at night feels uncomfortable and inconvenient. The furniture and fittings are old and worn out. There is no lift in the hotel. If your room is on the second floor, you’ll need to climb stairs, which can be tiring.

Lokalizacja, blisko do plaży, piękne otoczenie, dużo zieleni, poza śpiewem ptaków, cisza 😉. Pokój duży, przestronny z pięknym balkonem. Łózko wygodne, duże, czysta pościel i ręczniki. W pokoju lodówka. Personel bardzo miły i pomocny, ostatniego dnia przedłużyli nam pobyt do godziny 16 bez dodatkowej opłaty. Polecam gorąco.

Czasami rano nie było ciepłej wody, ale popołudniami była zawsze i bez ograniczeń.

Abbiamo trascorso giorni splendidi in questo Bed & Breakfast a Kovalam. Le camere sono carine e accoglienti, ma il vero gioiello è il balcone: spazioso, silenzioso e arredato con tavolino e sedie perfette per rilassarsi. La colazione è ottima. La posizione è ideale: a due passi dalla spiaggia, dai ristoranti e da tutto ciò che serve, ma al tempo stesso in una zona tranquilla e silenziosa. Un ringraziamento speciale va a tutto il personale, gentilissimo e sempre disponibile, e in particolare a Robin che è stato davvero straordinario: ci ha ritrovato uno zaino che avevamo dimenticato al ristorante e ce lo ha fatto recapitare a Varkala nel nostro hotel successivo. Davvero un’esperienza eccellente, anche per l’ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo. Avremmo dovuto fermarci per due notti e invece siamo rimasti per una settimana! Torneremmo senza dubbio!

La climatisation est très bruyante, le frigidaire ne marche pas, l’insonorisation de la chambre est très moyenne, on entend les voisins. Bruyant. Odeur d’eau croupissantes ou de moisi. L’accès à l’hôtel est très difficile.

Superfreundliches Personal! Als es mir sehr schlecht ging, haben sie mich mit Wasser versorgt und mir Medikamente geholt ..und später noch nachgefragt, wie es mir geht, ob ich noch irgendetwas brauche! Ruhige Lage und dennoch braucht man nur 2-3 Minuten an den Strand/Restaurants etc. Sauberes und großes Zimmer mit tollem Ausblick, leckeres Frühstück. Immer wieder gerne :)

Příjemný personál. Dostupnost na pláž. Klimatizace . Zajistili parkování motorky zdarma ve vedlejsim objektu.

Hlavni větrák funguje pouze na nejsilnější úroveň. Opravdu slabá snídaně která byla sice zdarma, ale jedna suchá omeleta s kávou, to jsem ještě nezažil , musel jsem si poté hned dát snídani jinde. Do ubytování se jde úzkou ulici. Trochu jsem to hledal.

God stämning och trevlig ägare, Robin. Lugnt läge, ändå nära stranden, 7-9 minuters promenad. Bra med att boendet har frukost.

Once we learned the maze-like path to the beach, we enjoyed the proximity to restaurants and the beach. The room was clean, had a balcony, decent but simple breakfast, a ceiling fan that was strong enough that we didn't use the AC. Lots of hot water! Also the host helped us with a taxi ride to the airport at midnight!

Directions to the property were challenging and we had to pay extra to our taxi driver for the extra driving around. Had to ask a man in the street how to get to the property, which was only accessible by a short walk. Staff was not present when we arrived but showed up with a few shouted hellos.

Very pleasant accommodation, great atmosphere. The manager was very kind and helpful.

Personnel très gentil et souriant. Petit déjeuner très bien. Emplacement au calme à moins de 5 mns à pied du front de mer.

The B and B was very peaceful, comfortable and spotlessly clean! The beach was just a 5 minute walk. The owners of the place were very friendly and helpful with everything. I got food cooked and it was delicious. Fish Moilee, Cabbage Thoran and delicious chicken curry. They will give you options for private tours to Poovar, Trivandrum and Kanyakumari at reasonable rates with excellent drivers. They really made my stay enjoyable and easy. It felt like home away from home. Special shout out to the wonderful owner Robin and my private tour guide, Azad. Azad was very enthusiastic to show me around Kovalam and very knowledgeable. Both Leo and Azad are very safe drivers with clean cars. I miss their pet, Sniffy. She is adorable.

Un vrai top ! Chambres confortables avec terrasse, parfait pour profiter de l'extérieur. L'emplacement est parfait et rend tout accessible à pied ou en transport . Le petit déjeuner est un vrai plus avec de la variété chaque jour et vraiment bien fournit.

Great budget accommodation. It’s very quiet and lush green around. And spacious rooms. Robin (the manager) is very accommodating and so friendly, that makes all the difference. Also carrying your luggage from the street to the building. As well Robin makes you such na nice breakfast and is very helpful and inviting to feel at home. Definitely a recommendable backpacker place to just overnight. All-in-all: I enjoyed my 2-day-stay!

It’s a tucked away building behind another more upmarket hotel (the swimming pool you see on the pictures belongs not to Packbag). The building itself is quite messy and run down, also ants, spiders etc. everywhere. Although the room is tidy (besides the ants), there is a lot of damp, a non-usable aircon, TV ripped out of the wall… But at the end it’s all ok - considering the low asking price.

I’m so happy I found this spot! As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe and well looked after. The place is clean, friendly, and just a short walk to the beach. The breakfast was delicious every morning, and the management was always helpful and kind. Excellent value for money and truly good people here—I highly recommend it!

Clean, quiet, green view. The manager helped carry our suitcases and also organized a taxi. Very comfortable bed. The beach and everything else were within walking distance.

A bit shabby, had to ask for two beds even though thats what we’d booked. Only small water bottles provided where most places had large water dispensers to reduce plastic. Quite far back from the road so confusing location to find.

Exceptionally clean,everything was in working order-lights,air conditioning, locks ,shower and a toilet.The room is spacious,bed is big and comfortable. There is also a fridge and a wardrobe.Balcony is big with table and chairs and there is also a drying rack. Breakfast is basic,included in the price. Everything was really as described. The manager and the staff are friendly and helpful. The property is a short walk from the beach and in the quiet area . I extended my stay as it was so comfortable.

Wonderful place and I like the balcony very, the room was clean and comfortable

We had a lovely stay. The room was spacious with enough place for our bags and the food was delicious, made by a cook who is very passionate and great at his job! In the back they have a wonderful sitting area where the food is served and you can play games or drink something. It was very cosy. There is also a really cute dog who like to be petted, but no worries.. If you don't like dogs, the owners tell her to leave and she does so. The host and staff are super friendly and helped us with everything. We hope to come back and enjoy this great stay again!

No sign. Would not have found it had it been for other peoples reviews and the Sunset villa tip. Sunset hotel / villas is out front. Packbag is down a narrow dogleg lane behind Sunset villas. Could do with a reno, but it’s clean, quiet, friendly staff :)

Packbag Comfort is a great place to stay. It’s in a good quiet location near to the beach, shops and restaurants. We had a good size room and bathroom on the ground floor with a little patio/balcony. The a/c and fan worked well and we were very happy to have the fridge. As well as the wardrobe/closet there is a drying rack which was very useful. The property is clean, tidy if a little tired. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

It’s difficult to find as there is no signage. You have to walk down the narrow alley next to the sign for Hotel Sun Rise. It’s dark at night, torches advisable.
