V helpful with looking for lost belongings. Accommodating with car parking beyond check out time. Room was clean.
Decor a bit tired
The bed was comfortable
The last one the desk couldn't speak any English

Was cheap for a reason
Very very back dated needs doing up the breakfast is poor not worth the money really. The room standard wouldn’t be staying here again.
Absolument rien
Liked · The best part was the drive away from the place. You should not even consider this as a last resort. We thought we had stayed in some pretty questionable properties before but this was on another level. We travelled for work and were shocked at how different the reality of the place was from the images used on booking.com. *see pics attached. The place has obviously been left to go to rack and ruin, but the owner did have a very nice new Land Rover Defender on the drive. We were due to stay for three nights but as we unfortunately could not find alternative accommodation at such short notice shortly after our initial arrival experience we were forced to stay for a very restless night and left promptly in the morning. I am annoyed there is no option for giving this place minus scores. But if you have masochistic tendences then this is the place for you.
Disliked · I wouldn't be happy letting my dogs stay there. The owners were no-where to be seen upon arrival and even after phoning them and being told to wait 2mins in very broken English, they still did not appear for a long time. We were eventually greeted by a member of staff who in all honesty was a nice chap, but the place stank of marijuana smoke and when the owner did appear they proceeded to constantly clear their throat and nose in front of us, his customer service was non-existent and we felt like it was a burden for him to even deal with us. I was staying in what I can only describe as a glorified summer house and could see the outside through a gap in the doors, which I wouldn't have minded but the doors were locked at the time. There were overloaded extension leads laying about the room, broken tiles left where they had fallen off the bath surround, and what was left of the bathroom light switch appeared to have human excrement on it. The room was very unclean. My colleagues room was in a similar state of repair. He had a lit shaving mirror in his bathroom, but unfortunately though the arm was broken and the mirror was hanging on by bare wires which were exposed. Suffice to say he did not use it as he believes these bare wires we still live. We might have had a better night sleep if we'd have bedded down in the gutter on the A415 for the night. The next morning I even noticed I had been bitten on my leg in the night, not pleasant. Please do not waste your money as when we have requested a refund we have found that previous customers that have also done so were told directly by the owner 'good luck with that', so no refund it seems. It's a shame as what looks like a once beautiful building steeped in history has been extremely neglected, now only being used as a mechanism to extract people’s money for no return of service and sub-standard conditions. By no means do I have high standards but this in my book is a health hazard......
Location exactly what we needed for our trip and a good sized family room with massive tv
Place was shabby, dirty, messy , unloved, dated and very rough . Holes in the threadbare towels and all a bit bizarre. The lady proprietor didnt speak English and actually seemed angry, there was some crashing and shouting heard from the kitchen during out inedible breakfast, even the coffee machine sounded like it would take off and splurted out some gunk which was undrinkable 🤮
Room was spacious and quiet, despite being on a main road. When we did get hold of staff, they were friendly and the breakfast was impressive,
Noone was there when we arrived and it took a while to reach someone on the phone. We then had to find the key locks and let ourselves in (the place was dark and rooms hard to find.) The bathroom was old and the hairdryer fused the electrics (although the bathroom in our other room was much better).
The location was good for anyone walking the Thames Path
The property is really showing its age & needs complete refurbishment. There was no hot water in the shower, barely any water pressure either. Although the bed was comfortable & bedding clean there were flies in the glasses in the bathroom. There were no electrics working when we arrived.
Nothing
Everything it was dangerous electric wise it was dirty and the owners were unable to communicate in English without an translator app the mattress on the bed was dirty badly stained and very unhygienic. The food was appalling and the whole experience was dreadful we are unable to reach our to the property as they're refusing to answer our calls and what you are advertising on you website is not what it is like at all uou have misold this property to us and its fraudulent because its not what it is on you site we want a refund but you appear to refuse this x4 calls I will be take further action with the appropriate people to get them see what Booking .com is all about and its not the customer .
The breakfast was adequate and value for money. The building itself was quaint and full of history. The rooms were clean and a fan was supplied for such hot weather. I asked for rooms to be close to each other which was supplied in a separate annexe and met our needs. There was plenty of hot water and powerful showers. The receptionist on arrival was charming.
The accommodation was tired as if not lived in for a time. The forecourt was neglected and flowers have died. The reception lacked punctuality.
Good location if walking the Thames Path. Interesting old building, seems full of history.
N/A
Messaged to say that they were cancelling my booking on the day of the stay. Promised refund nothing received to date (5 days later)
We refused to stay It was the dirtiest run down place we had ever seen we requested a refund but was told in rude terms “ good luck with that”
Lovely location
the bed and t.v and the size of the room
The surroundings on the property
Because they were not prepared for me, I was re-allocated into a nice room.
It was eerily quiet, as the staff were not ready for me. The main owner was not super friendly, perhaps a language barrier, which I understand. There was no breakfast. The other staff member was nice.
Great location, comfy bed, decent breakfast
Needs a bike rack to safely lock bikes.
No one available at check in so was checked in by another guest who had to text the owners to find out where my key was. Later received a text to tell me to go to Reception to check in, which was about 3 hours after I had arrived. Room was a mess, cluttered and in poor state of repair. Bathroom was tatty, mats looked about 50 years old.
Good reception, breakfast and cleanliness
Bed was comfortable. Lots of cupboard/ wardrobe space.
Dirty and rusty windows with paint peeling off. Rusty old bin in toilet in toilet. Broken vanity mirror in bathroom - hanging off. Lamp with no plug that served no purpose. Outside area neglected with odds and ends eveywhere.
Excellent location and parking. Beautiful village. Pleasant hosts. Clean.
Room felt damp. The room was warm enough, but the portable heater and towel rail in bathroom were the only sources of heat. Electrics not PAT tested since 2024. Door of bedroom (the room was an outside one, situated in the courtyard) was lockable but not very secure, which made me as a lone female traveller feel very unsafe
Cheap. Location. Clean
No bar, ancient 'crossroads motel ' rooms. Basically clapped out but was clean and cheap. Pub had gone bust. No bar.
The bed was very comfortable & loved the feather duvet.
I hadn’t realised it was right on main road, so the traffic noise kept me awake all night. Was informed at check in that they are not doing breakfast because short staffed.
Had a fridge. Constant scalding hot water.. Breakfast fine. Ample parking. Warm bed.
Only one place within walking distance to get a dinner; it wasn't a place I would have gone to twice if I'd had a choice. Bath sheet, instead of a sensible bath towel; I can't see the point. Poor radio reception, but that's not a fault of the establishment; I find that in a lot of places. Room light not bright enough for me.
I love everything inclusive in the room
Less money for the room
Breakfast was edible but once you ticked what you wanted on the first day then that’s what you had for the duration. No other choices if you didn’t want a cooked one. Much too early, had to eat by 8.30. Fortunately there was a lovely pub nearby where we could have lunch or dinner.
A very long list I’m afraid 😱 When we arrived, tea and biscuits were bought out but the biscuits were stale. The outside tables were never cleared of cigarette ends and general rubbish and weeds growing all around in the so called courtyard. Our rooms were never cleaned or bins emptied and no top up of tea, coffee and milk. Behind the main building, there was a stack of very stained mattresses leaning against the wall, absolutely disgusting. I think I’ve said enough, would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Couldn't be bothered to get up and make breakfast on time at 7.30, at 7.55am lights still off and no-one to be seen , so myself and 12 year old son had to find breakfast elsewhere
Good location, nice room.
Very hot some nights, cold on two nights
Breakfast was good. It was cold days but they put an electric radiator.
It was beautiful, so old and so much character. Very quiet with some nice walks nearby.
Nothing
A good breakfast - though not much choice Bedroom - an outside chalet - suited me perfectly as I attended a midnight mass and wouldn't have wanted to disturb the whole place at 1 am Christmas morning!
Can't be anything serious - I stayed there last Christmas
Location and quaint looks.
Receptionist didn’t speak English. On second morning two eggs were broken before being fried and the other two had hard yolks. Hot breakfast was served before cereal was eaten. Bathroom was cold as heated towel rail was off.
It was warm and clean.
Despite being warm and clean, the place seemed very dated. Much of the place has obviously not been updated from the 1970’s. The boiler located above my bedroom was boiling, bubbling and popping up til 2.30am, a little worrying, had to call the owner who then climbed up into the loft to turn it off, so no hot water the next morning. The owner hid away most of the time over the 2 night stay. Breakfast was partially edible, so did not bother on the second morning.
Breakfast was excellent and served spot on timewise. We were walking the Thames Path and wanted to have a stop- over at Clifton Hampden, so an excellent location for us.
was a great base for exploring the Oxford area. The breakfast room is so very charming.
Our room cramped, to much furniture.
Staff were friendly/ location
Property was run down and a bit cold.
The young lady did everything, cooked, cleaned, served. She was very polite, but she clearly needed help. Our room was comfortable.
Not very clean. Bin and toilet brush in the bathroom, dirty and rusty. Breakfast was cold, didn't get what we asked for, very basic.
早餐可按自己的喜好选择,酒店位置是个惊喜,位于古老乡村,体验到英国乡村住宅的別样风格。我会推荐给家人和朋友。
Room was spacious, warm and comfortable.
The room needs a little TLC (paintwork, etc)
I was in Room 3, Outside 1. Very quiet 2. My room had a bath which I wallowed in 🛀🧽 3. Great size TV with Netflix and YouTube 4. Great location for The Thames Path 5. There was a bottle of filtered water in the room which I thought was a nice touch 6. I slept really well in the cosy bed 7. I really liked the style of wooden furniture, ornamental bed frame and taps in the bathroom
1. Some areas in the room require attention: broken magnifying light in the bathroom ; the glass shelf wasn't secured to the brackets; one of the big lamps had no plug attached 2. The top of the bed frame surround had a lot of dust, so I damp cleaned it 3. The toast for breakfast needed to be 'toasted . It needs to be left in the toaster for longer so that it is chrispier.
Size of accommodation was very good - including shower/bathroom - well maintained Great breakfast - very clean facilities
Room could do with a freshen up - coat of paint,
Comfortable, clean and convenient.
Very poor WiFi- often none at all.
Arrived late but staff were very accommodating and friendly. Lovely olde worlde 16th century public house. Lots of wooden beams. Beautiful location.
TV didn't work, bedside lamps didn't work. I didn't care. After long day travelling just wanted my bed
Bedroom, bath, fridge in room
Breakfast, temperamental shower temperature
Room was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was suitable for our needs (visiting family). The site was easily accessible by taxi from Didcot station.
Reception was unmanned and it took some time to contact the owners and get access to the room. There were several phone numbers on display that didn't seem to work and we were advised by another guest that he had finally managed contact via WhatsApp. This is what we did
Location
I rarely leave reviews, but this stay was so disappointing I feel compelled to warn others. Upon arrival, there was no one at reception—I had to call a mobile number just to get someone to check me in. The photos online are clearly outdated and do not reflect the current state of the property. The room was bare, with no carpet—just basic lino flooring. The shower looked so old and unclean I didn’t even risk using it. Outside, the car park featured a derelict caravan with a collapsing awning, overflowing ashtrays, and deck chairs that gave the place a very neglected feel. Inside, the décor was a strange mix of mismatched Chinese plates and ornaments, which added to the overall sense of disarray. Breakfast was cold and of very poor quality—definitely not worth the price. Do not trust the positive reviews from this year—they are extremely misleading. I wish I had known before booking. This place needs serious attention and transparency.
Lovely village. Good pub locally. Breakfast was nice.
Too much clutter around. Too many plug sockets overloaded. Shower was cold. Noisy fridge in room which we had to unplug.
Bed, room & bathroom comfortable and clean. Spacious and amenable.
Eccentric, multi-room property in haphazard condition inside and out. Cluttered, unsafe exterior areas. Breakfast served in extremely cluttered, bizarre, charmless room. Probably a health & safety nightmare. Avoid.
Proximity to other locations.
Prefacing this with the fact I don’t like to leave bad reviews unless justified/required. This is one example where I feel it necessary to do so. When booking this property, I did so with my friends wedding in mind at 2pm. As such, I had requested to check in early when I first booked this property 6 weeks ago. I Received confirmation this was authorised yesterday morning (day of friends wedding) We Arrived at 12 noon to a cleaner asking who I was and then the other member of staff insisting I was early and should wait in my car. No niceties, no welcome, a very stand offish approach to a new guest at the property. We waited, albeit confused by how we were greeted. The room was clean, but dated. The duvet was damp and the bed uncomfortable. After the wedding, we returned to our room tired and in need of a good sleep. The next morning we woke up, and immediately wanted to check out. Upon doing so, we went to reception and were told (from the kitchen) to leave our keys on the desk. Again, no asking how are stay was etc, just blunt and abrupt.
Prijs / kwaliteit
Not a lot - I ticked that the place should have a Restaurant (as time was tight and we needed to eat, nearly as soon as we got there), it didn't have a Restaurant. I also ticked a Bar (your site says it has a Bar, it doesn't) as I wanted to have a drink after our meal. It doesn't have a Bar
It didn't have the facilities as advertised on your site, no Bar, no Restaurant. I wouuldn't of booked this place if I knew that. I have asked Booking.com for a refund and haven't had an acknoweldgment of my request.
I didn't actually get to stay there, because the day before I was due to stay, I got a message saying they couldn't honour my booking because of an electrical fault. However, several family members who were attending the same party all stayed there with no evidence of any electrical issues
It had a bath the bed was comfortable and it was a large room
Although the room was clean, the rest of the property was shabby and cluttered. Seeing the mucky toes of the breakfast server put my wife off her breakfast
Smooth check-in, room was spacious and comfortable, friendly staff. Breakfast was also good.
The owners waited for us and warmly greeted us despite our late check-in. They went out of their way to help us find food late at night. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Breakfast was also good. The owners were genuinely interested in getting to know us, and we had some really nice conversations.
Rooms were a bit hot, no ACs. But given how old the place is its understandable
Location, room and food
Check-in
Very comfortable and it was clean, staff were good. Cool old building
Breakfast was great but could have been a little bigger and breakfast service stops at 9. Just a niggle, not an actual negative.
Good location, not too far from the park and ride. Breakfast was ok, but only given 1 sausage and 1 piece of bacon. Staff were friendly
The bathroom was extremely outdated. Towels were old, fraying at the edges and holes in. The bed sheet was very scratchy, pillows and duvet were fine. Very low ceilings, we bumped our heads multiple times.
Large spacious room. Breakfast was good.
Check in was a bit slow and the shower was broken.
Clean and quiet
Breakfast overcooked
Lot of garden unwanted implements garbage pipes timber etc
The bed was comfortable
There was NO HOT WATER available The wifi was ineffective - you could connect, but the bandwidth was negligible Some of the cooked breakfast was stone cold
Breakfast was OK, nothing special. Awful juice, stale cereal. Comfortable bed.
Premises very run down & shabby. Rubbish outside. Trailer tent & rubbish in car park.
Breakfast was fine.
Good breakfast. Clean, comfortable room.
Room number 6 was up a very steep flight of stairs then down several more. Larger coffee machine needed! The present one is too small and slow to cope with the number of guests at breakfast.
Very handy location for Thames Path walkers and a very convenient local shop near the church. The B and B is in a former old thatched pub. Rooms are mostly in buildings outside the property. We had a lovely stay as we sat outside in the sunshine watching red kites and chatting to a lovely young woman working in the B and B. She made us feel most welcome.
There were a few niggles, but quite honestly we just had a lovely experience with the lovely young lady who worked at the B and B.
Excellent value accommodation. This stay exceeded our expectations. Great breakfast The customer service is above and beyond.
Good breakfasts with cereals, fruit juices, toast, tea & coffee and a comprehensive full English although the eggs were always over cooked with hard yolks. Never the less, an enjoyable start to each day. The rooms were generally acceptable for the price we were paying. If one books a low price hotel, one cannot expect luxury so we were prepared to accept a certain level. With this in mind, we also liked to low price.
Check-in was odd due to no staff whatsoever on site upon arrival. A phone call to the provided number asked us to find a row of key safe boxes and a pin number was provided to access our room key. Noisy sliding door into bathroom waking others at night. Leaking toilet depositing water onto bathroom floor at a rate of around half a litre per day. Table outside our window had been painted with paint that would not dry, leaving paint on our cloths. Our TV had a fault showing patches of coloured marks across the screen. On our final morning, the breakfast was served to our table of four, however only three meals arrived and I was left watching others eating for ten minutes before asking for my breakfast & mine arrived as I had been forgotten! Shame, because the breakfasts was one of the best features of our stay.
Absolutely nothing!
The check-in is a shambles, and they should be embarrassed by the system they use. They weren't there when they said they would be, and there were no keys in the key safe. It took me 45 minutes to get into my room from arrival!! Awful place and unfriendly, unprofessional staff.
The bedroom and bathroom were very comfortable and had beautiful character
Welcoming, friendly
