Lobby feels like a living room. Very cozy and comfortable for conversation. View of Jackson park and the Obama center very cool.
Need a card for room service, otherwise had to call the desk to have room cleaned and more towels.
The location was excellent, many amenities close to the downtown area. An added bonus was the restaurant attached to the hotel. I would definitely stay again.
The parking can be tricky in respect to the valet and the parking structure. I was lucky to find parking directly across the street from the hotel.
The location, the staff, and my favorite-the bed!
That the bar closed early.
Friendly staff and very helpful.
Normally when you pay that amount of money, you should at least a basic breakfast. frontdesk not quick enough to provide things when you ask them
The guy named Zack is horrible at communicating with guest...he needs to be trained to able to talk guests more respectually He should know that when folks come to the hotel from the hospital that they are tired and crumpy..basic psychological knowledge would
The Study is tucked into a security-heavy university neighborhood with a lot of green space, which offered peace of mind when it came to safety. It has a "contemporary library" vibe that was beautifully designed. We only stayed for one night, so we didn't really explore the hotel amenities, but we did eat at the restaurant (Truth Be Told...), and the food was FANTASTIC! Staff were very friendly and efficient, making it easy to ask questions or seek help if needed. Our room was on an upper floor, and the views were beautiful. The in-room safe was convenient and easy to use. We were going to an event at the stadium, which turned out to be much closer than I anticipated, so this is a great lodging option if you're traveling to Chicago for a concert or sporting event at the stadium.
The rate was nearly $380/night (including tax), which seemed high. But considering the location, quality, and day I booked, I suppose I understand the higher rate to an extent. When I booked, I don't recall it being clear that the "available secured parking" was a nearby pay parking garage and not an on-site hotel lot. I was initially irritated by this, but the garage ended up being just behind the hotel, and there was plenty of available space inside. There are just some nit-picky things regarding the room, and it's mainly the bathroom. There weren't any facial tissues, which I typically find available in most hotel bathrooms. The toilet paper was one ply, and for the rate, I was expecting a bit more comfort in that area! The shower was huge and easy to step into, but with the way the glass doors were designed, water inevitably got all over the floor, making it necessary to use one of the available towels as a floor mat of sorts. I didn't notice it until just before leaving, but there were spots on the wall next to the sink. Not sure what it was (something sprayed/splattered), but it was missed in the cleaning, I guess.
Beautiful
There was nothing to not like
A simple hotel but functional, clean and in excellent location.
I liked everything.
Close to Obama Center
No fridge/microwave
The room was very comfortable, clean and updated. I really liked the lobby. There was a nice place to sit and read which we used a few times. The location was great too!
Did not eat breakfast there
Our whole experience was wonderful and the staff was GREAT!!!!
The Barack Obama presidential center was conveniently located within walking distance. Moreover, being situated on the campus of the University of Chicago provided a serene and peaceful atmosphere.
This might seem like a small request, but for me, even though the establishment provided complimentary coffee in the morning, I believe it’s crucial to have coffee makers and cake cups in each room. This way, guests can enjoy their coffee without having to get up and go downstairs to the lobby. Furthermore, a microwave oven, either located centrally or in each room, would be greatly appreciated. This would allow guests to easily heat up any leftover meals. This would be even better if there were small refrigerators in the rooms. Lastly, the full beds lacked pillow tops, making the full beds slightly uncomfortable. However, the king-size bed had a pillow top, which made it very comfortable.
The location was excellent for our visit to the Obama Presidential Center. The neighborhood was welcoming. Being right on the university of Chicago campus gave us access to great restaurants and Hyde Park. Everywhere we ate and visited was amazing!
There was nothing I did not like.
Location and vibe. Was a great location for a visit to the Obama Presidential Center. And easy parking.
Everything! I had a wonderful experience there
Needs a snack bar or vending machine
The 6am coffee bar was a big help! My 90 year old Mother takes a daily medicine dosage around 7 so to have that available prevented me from having to hunt her up some coffee and milk, it was greatly appreciated!!! :)
One complaint was the television volume, it was too low, but I was informed about the plan for upgrading and correction, a small detail...no big deal.
Great location for leaving town in the morning to drive to Indiana. Clean hotel with friendly staff and the decor was cute, in line with the name. Would definitely stay again! We parked at garage right behind the hotel and it worked out great.
The location
The bed is not comfortable
I loved the location of the property as it was walking distance to the lake. I love that it had a restaurant downstairs and I was able to get breakfast lunch or dinner.
There was absolutely nothing. I didn’t like about the property. I love the property.
A few places close by for breakfast and other meals. Very convenient as a visitor to the University of Chicago. Staff is super nice.
There is a black thick mat at the entrance in front of the door. It made rolling our suitcases very very very hard especially and since the doors are not automatic, it was again hard to open the doors.
Nice property, Friendly staff Kelsey at front desk was lovely.,
One elevator was broken. It was a busy weekend - and it took forever to get the one working elevator. No sign was posted ... after a day i figured out it was not is service. Noting it was a busy weekend . It seemed like the restaurant was understaffed. Service on Saturday was slow and we were often forgotten by our waiter.

Nice and quite and perfect location
If ypur going to the Obama museum there is no better location. A ten minute walk down the street. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The television channel available were nonexistent.
There was not a free breakfast. They only had coffee in the lobby. Not even hot water. We were on the 6th floor, so there was no street noise. They had lots of art books in the lobby.
Since I booked through a 3rd party, they could not give me a receipt/bill. The room did not have a refrigerator or a bath tub. The closet was tiny, with only room for hanging 6-8 things. We could not easily walk to a mini-mart or liquor store. Food seemed especially expensive.
The location and walkability
The pillow were horribly flimsy and having to use the key in the elevator with full hands was a nightmare
The staff. Everyone was friendly, professional and helpful. I liked the library theme and that we were able to choose one book we liked.

Free parking and nice hotel
Location too far from City
The location was great. We went to the Obama Presidential Center, which was within walking distance. The design was nice but worn.
The first room we got had an incredible view as it was a corner room on the top floor. However, there were spiders on the windows, including inside. As well as in the bathroom. It looked like they had been there for a while! The carpeting was old. It was decent but definitely needs an upgrade or a good cleaning. With no refrigerator or microwave, it was hard keeping our snacks and leftovers from restaurants cold or fresh. It just didn't have all of the bells and whistles we are used to.
Beautiful place and safe
Bathroom sink water slow going down
The breakfast was amazing and the location convenient
The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very nice.
There was no refrigerator in the room. One elevator was not working. We had to take our luggage down the stairway. .
Very Clean
Nothing.
Everything but the restaurant
The restaurant. The food was good. Dinner service wasnt good. Food was very backed up
It is nice area
I did not have any shampoo, body wash in the dispensers. Also closet sliding door was not working and could not get the iron and ironing board. Not a good experience from a 4 star hotel.
Location can’t be beat. Stylish.
No pool or hot tub. Not clear on listing they would t have this. Also no fridge in room.
The friendliness of the staff was beyond my expectations. I had a few requests and they always accommodated each of my requests, which included getting a toothpaste after midnight (I realized too late that I forgot it), checking out a few hours after the checkout time because my flight was around 10pm, getting a water boiler into my room, etc. Thank you for accommodating my requests and making my stay so convenient!
Clean, comfortable, great location.
Pricey. Front desk staff and restaurant/bar servers seemed completely uninterested in creating a friendly atmosphere.
Generally nice property: helpful staff.
One of the elevators was out of service my entire stay which led to some dealys, although it wasn;t terrible
Great stay overall
Clean Room
unclear payment process and poor communication by the staff.
The location was great for us as we were going to the Obama Center.
The mattresses were old with deep ruts and were uncomfortable. I changed rooms to get a bed in better condition and found the bed in the new room to be in the same condition as the bed in the room I had left. Staff acted surprised at my request to change rooms but when I showed them a picture of the bed they offered a new room but the bed in the new room was no better. Others must have complained about the bed and I didn't appreciate being made to feel as though my complaint was the first they had had on this issue.
Very clean, easy access, great walking area
Limited choices for food in the area.
What an amazing place! The accommodations were excellent. The food in the restaurant was delicious, drinks fantastic, staff friendly and attentive! The front desk was so helpful! Kelsey was amazing and took care of everything we needed. I highly recommend The Study!
TV sound was capped and I have a hard time hearing. Minor annoyance is all.
Dinner was good
Street parking
The hotel staff were exceptional and accommodating. They even helped us get an Uber when we had issues securing a taxi.
The food was a little iffy but the service staff were friendly and exceptional.
Cleaniness
Complimentary breakfast not included
Decor in lobby area, comfort of the lobby area, desk staff very helpful and knowledgeable, cleanliness, closeness to Obama Presidential Library, walkability of the campus from the hotel, and the Truth be Told restaurant.
Pricing.
The location and restaurant
TVs are not accepting wireless connection. Not possible to stream other contents directly.
The location is great
The room service wasn't so good
The hotel and the bedroom were very elegant
You didn't have a breakfast included
The hotel looked very nice and comforting.
My room was specifically the TV wasn’t working, which was frustrating and then the bathroom was a little dirty, but overall the room was nice.
Cleanliness
Nothing
Location and friendly staff.
Expensive for what it is.
The staff went above and beyond. The location was perfect for visiting the University of Chicago. The hotel was clean and comfortable.
Quiet and cozy.
No fridge, we were close to the workout gym and there was a lot of banging noise.
The breakfast was good, and enabled me to have an egg cooked how I liked. Server was friendly and efficient
Th ere could/should have been a coffee maker in the room. Hotels of this star rating either have 24 hour coffee in the lobby or a decent (ie Nespresso) maker in the room.
Great location, comfortable hotel, excellent bar/restaurant and very friendly and helpful staff throughout the
I like this hotel , it’s good value sometimes , Kenya at reception is wonderful, always so welcoming and helpful.
Blow up extra bed had hole x 2 times then gave us a fold up bed that was perfect!
Comfy and clean, nice staff
The hotel lost power for 5 hours and I feel that something should have been communicated.
Near university of Chicago. Nicest hotel if you want to be close to the university.
There was a delay in check in due to a power outage but they gave us a small sum off our bill to compensate us. The hotel is expensive so don’t stay here if you are looking for a value deal.
If you want to be near the University of Chicago, you cannot beat this location. We love the hotel´s subdued luxurious feel and decor, the peace and quiet and the spacious rooms. Breakfast is not included, but there are plenty of good options at their restaurant.
We liked everything.
Lack of ice machines on the floor. Lack of ice containers in the room.
Staff is great, and hotel and room are very clean and nicely kept.
The front doors are extremently heavy and very hard to open.
The Study is perfect. Calm, beautifully designed, overseen by kind, smart people like Kayley. Coffee in the morning is wonderful. Newspapers laid out on a table. Easy walk to everything UChicago. I always feel lucky when I get to stay at The Study.
