Fantasy Island - private seaview cabins

We spent a wonderful weekend at Fantasy Island. The room we had was perfect with a lovely outlook to the gorgeous tropical gardens and see beyond. The host was very welcoming, friendly informative and gracious. I would highly recommend for those looking for lovely good value-for-money accommodation near Tryphena.

Good location, beautiful gardens and our host was great, very welcoming, showed us around the property and gave us some local tips. We had a lot of rain during our visit and the DVDs in the cabin kept us entertained.

The shower head was not working properly. It had a leak that made lose most of the pressure.

The location is magnificently landscaped, with tropical plants, trees and flowers everywhere.

The trek to the beaches, store, pub, requires a steep hike down a graveled/partially paved drive and along the shoulder of a steep and curved road.

Chatting with Peter on the guided tour of the expertly landscaped garden was a high light. Great local tips. The great flip side of the steep drive is the amazing views. Well worth it. Plenty of space at the top. Units very nice and vastly better than some of the other accommodation options we experienced at Great Barrier.

The host Peter was so very friendly and shared so much information that really assisted with my travelling around the Island, as it was my first time on Barrier. The unit itself was so comfortable and had the most beautiful views and even though it was raining on my first day, the view of the garden was stunning. They have truly created a paradise there and it is well worth spending time there.

The garden was amazing. Peter gave us a great introduction to the property and great local info. Loved the peace and privacy and views to die for.

Excellent location, gorgeous view and a short walk to the Irish pub where the food is very good. A very warm welcome from the host Peter who showed us all around the property and is very knowledgeable about the stunning gardens.

We had a fabulous 4 night stay in the main cottage. It felt totally private, had good facilities if you wanted to self-cater and the most amazing view of the ocean - absolutely breath taking. There were native birds galore and the most magnificent tropical gardens to explore. Peter, the co-owner and garden maestro, met us on our arrival with a glass of champagne and a garden tour. He made us feel very welcome and gave lots of useful local advice. The property is only a 15 minute stroll down to the main shop and cafe of Tryphena. Plus the Currach Irish pub and the Social club are in the same vicinity - no need to drive if you'd like a drink with your meal.

The hill upto the property is pretty steep but we very soon got used to it. It was worth it for the views!

Such a great place from which to explore Great Barrier Island. We were here 3 nights, excellent reception and welcome drink from Pete and a tour of the facilities. Cabin was perfect for our needs, with simple but effective cooking facilities, WiFi (which we didn’t expect), clean and tidy property but in surroundings that have to be seen. The plot has been manicured to a tee with a super layout and magnificent bay views. Walking distance to the Irish pub and store. If you are self drive then make sure it’s an all-terrain vehicle as the drive is steep!! Couldn’t ask for more.

Beautiful gardens and views great location. Very relaxing. Greeted by the host with a glass of champagne each and a quick tour around the garden and facilities. Very private peaceful and quiet. Each unit has its own private garden and sea view. Rooms very attractive. Hired electric motorbikes and drove from airport in 20 mins with bags strapped on back and accomadation is 5 mins from restaurants, social club, supperette and beautiful beach. Absolutely loved our stay 😁👍
