Reviewed Sep 14, 2026Everything was excellent. Very friendly, helpful and they looked after our suitcases until we caught the train. Perfect position, a nice quiet room, lovely breakfast and the room was very clean and freshly painted.
The view outside our bedroom window let it down with unsightly rubbish on show to the right-hand side. It needs to be cleared away.

Reviewed Jun 19, 2026Location opposite main station in Caen was excellent for us as we were travelling by train. We did not expect too much as we were aware that it did not have a three or four star rating, but it was fine. Older accommodation which had been renovated. Had to take bags up stairs as no lift. The room was smallish, which was no surprise, but the two of us, with big bags managed to fit in ok. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Bathroom had good water pressure but was on smaller side. Staff/managers were very friendly and helpful. As budget accommodation in a convenient location to train services then La Consigne fits the bill.
If you expect 3, 4 or 5 star accommodation then this is not for you.

Reviewed Apr 30, 2026The comfort was excellent, the location very good, the breakfast OK. The best was the staff, extremely helpful and deserving a lot of praise. So why wouldn't I rent again (at least if I travel by car). See below.
This is entirely YOUR FAULT, not theirs. You listed their hotel as having parking but that was NOT true. I checked again to gather wit the staff : you DID list their hotel as having parking. I understood it as "free parking", not PAYING parking. Granted it was free at night, and I have arrived late enough. But instead of leaving my car there for the day, I had to leave early. FORTUNATELY the staff was able to tell me where to park my car for the remainder of the day, quite FAQR from their hotel bur reasoanbly close to the places I wanted to visit. So the staff saved my day, despite the obvious mistake YOU committed in listing the as "hotel WITH parking".
