Polaris Beach and Dive Resort Inc

Getting to Polaris is an adventure in itself. From Sandingan we took a private boat arranged by the resort (1,000 PHP, around 30 minutes). Because of the waves, we had to get off about 500 m from the resort and carry our five suitcases over sand and rocks. Exhausting! 😅 But the wonderful welcome with cold drinks, chilled towels and a personalized sign immediately changed our mood. The resort is beautiful, peaceful and intimate, with a lovely tropical garden, large swimming pool, oceanfront bar and open-air restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent – generous portions at very reasonable prices. We originally booked two tree houses, but eventually upgraded to two rooms by the pool, and that was definitely the right decision. Four nights felt perfect. We enjoyed the pool, the stars at night, snorkeling with lots of starfish and cycling around the island. The island itself feels very authentic and far away from mass tourism. If you want to disconnect, slow down and enjoy peace and nature, Polaris is a wonderful place. We left rested, happy and with beautiful memories.

The original tree houses were very hot, and the stairs were extremely steep, so they were not comfortable for us. The poolside rooms were much better, although they were more expensive and air conditioning costs extra. The biggest negative surprise came at departure. The resort arranged a car from Sandingan to Panglao for 3,500 PHP, later reduced to 3,000 PHP after we questioned the price. This still felt expensive considering we had paid only 5,000 PHP for the much longer, approximately three-hour journey from Anda to Sandingan. I would therefore recommend agreeing on transportation prices in advance. Also, this island is not for everyone. If you expect nightlife, shopping, smooth roads or lots of activities, you may find it too quiet and isolated.

Tout est mis en oeuvre pour offrir le meilleur séjour dans une ambiance bienveillante et attentive. Les 5 jours passés sur place ont vraiment été un plaisir. La qualité de l'équipe est à souligner : professionnelle et adorable !

Most amazing place. Felt like paradise and it was hard to leave. The place itself was mind blowing, but the staff was even more so. Everybody was extremely nice, helfpful and just made my stay unforgettable. Big thanks to the divers, cleaners, managers and everybody that was around. Can‘t wait to be back :)

Truly remarkable place, can’t recommend it enough. The staff are all extremely accommodating and helpful, property is beautiful with a wonderful “house reef”. The diving was world-class for macro-life and the guide went out of his way to ensure I found everything underwater and got my photos. Another note, they have complete pricing power since I’m not sure where else I’d find food or diving, yet everything is still extremely fairly priced. Food is also quite good in the kitchen

A place where you feel welcome from the second you arrive. They put a lot of effort in maintaining the property to keep it as beautiful as it is. Beautiful location and friendly staff. Good food with vegetarian and other dietary options. The diving staff were very experienced and helpful.

Could have better room amenities like tea/coffee, hairdryer, conditioner, etc. The resort was rather remote and they did not provide economical options for travel to the island.

Die Zimmer waren ein absoluter Traum: Wir haben zunächst 4 Nächte im Treehouse verbracht und danach noch 3 Nächte Bungalow: beides war auf seine Art einfach richtig, richtig schön und besonders. Die gesamte Anlage ist top gepflegt, der Pool lädt perfekt zum Entspannen ein und das Essen war mit Abstand das Beste, das wir auf den Philippinen hatten. Besonders die Pizza aus dem Steinofen war ein Highlight, aber auch die Mischung aus westlicher und asiatischer Küche war durchweg hervorragend. Die Tauchschule war ebenfalls super organisiert, alles sehr individuell gestaltet und mit Tauchspots direkt vor der Haustür. Einfach unkompliziert und qualitativ top. Am meisten beeindruckt hat uns aber das Personal: Ein riesiges Dankeschön an Jonathan, Carlo, Merlinda und das gesamte Team! Alle waren unglaublich aufmerksam, herzlich und professionell. Unsere Namen kannten sie schon ab dem ersten Tag, und wir haben uns die ganze Zeit über einfach rundum wohlgefühlt. 100% Empfehlung!

Kleiner Hinweis (wirklich kein richtiger Kritikpunkt): Im Treehouse kann es nachts etwas lauter werden, da Äste und Blätter gegen das Haus schlagen. Wer einen sehr leichten Schlaf hat, sollte eventuell eher ein anderes Zimmer wählen.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour dans l'établissement Polaris, nous espérons revenir prochainement. Le personnel a toujours été disponible et proactifs pour répondre à nos questions et organiser des activités. Les chambres et les espaces communs (piscine, plage, restaurant) sont très bien aménagés et agréables. Le restaurant proposait de nombreuses options, que nous avons toutes appréciées et à un prix très raisonnable. Merci à vous tous !

The resort has a very good restaurant. Also very tasty cocktails! Lazy atmosphere, super to relax. The staff is really very friendly.

Beside diving and snorkeling,there´s nothing to do on the island. And It gets quite expensive if you want to visit the main island of bohol. Also, it´s a pity that the dirt on the beach is not being cleaned up.

Helt fantastisk sted når man vil ned i gear og slappe helt af. Her er det venligste personale, der hjælper med alt hvad man har brug for. Omgivelserne på stedet er skønne, vi bevægede os dog ikke meget udenfor resortet. Poolen er dejlig og bliver gjort ofte rent. Maden er god. Vi rejste med to små børn og de var super gode til at hjælpe med at arrangere snorkling ture fra stranden af, hvor der var en guide med- kæmpe oplevelse for os alle.

Måske en el kedel og instanskaffe på værelserne, men det er blot en lille ting.

They greet you when you arrive, put your luggage in the room, and arrange all your activities catering to your interests. I took the discovery scuba 1 on 1 for novice inexperienced divers with dive master Jericho. He was patient, thorough, and took me to the most incredible shelf reef about 12 meters down. I encountered brain coral, star fish, sea anemones with clownfish, seahorses, filter feeders, eels, ribbon fish, yellow frog footed fish, predator fish, and thousands of fish of all varieties. The reef is pristine, and the coral is abundant. The sun sets right in front of the resort over the ocean.They arrange all the travel to your next resort and excursions if you desire. Hospitality is number one. This was the highlight of my Philippines vacation.

Face à la mer, accès par bateau. Calme. Grand et beau jardin avec beaucoup de végétation. Grande chambre climatisée. Piscine très propre. Large choix de plats à la carte, jus de fruits frais et eau de coco. Gentillesse du personnel. Spot de snorkeling à 5mn à pied par la plage où il est possible de voir de grosses tortues de mer.

Possibilité de faire du snorkeling en face de l'hôtel mais fort courant et beaucoup d'algues et peu de très beaux coraux dans la partie peu profond.

L’emplacement est superbe, le parc et la vue sont splendides. La chambre était grande, bien aménagée et très propre. Mention spéciale pour le personnel qui est au petit soin, vraiment merci à eux pour le séjour

Das Polaris Beach and Dive Resort ist eine wirklich schöne, weitläufige Anlage mit einer toll gestalteten Poolbar, einem schönen Pool und einem großen Außenbereich zum Entspannen. Das gesamte Team ist extrem freundlich und herzlich. Man merkt sofort den deutsch-philippinischen Standard, der sich durch viele Details zieht. Wir hatten eine großartige Zeit dort. Besonders hervorzuheben ist, wie gut das Resort für Taucher geeignet ist. Es gibt viele individuelle Tauchgänge, und mein Mann hat dort einen erweiterten Tauchkurs gemacht, der perfekt auf seine persönlichen Bedürfnisse abgestimmt war. Die gesamte Tauchorganisation wird von Franz, dem Sohn des Inhabers und Head des Tauchshops, persönlich betreut. Das Essen war durchweg köstlich. Wir hatten einfach wunderbare Tage.

Wirklich negativ ist hier absolut nichts! Man sollte wissen, dass es auf der kleinen Insel selbst keine weiteren Sehenswürdigkeiten gibt. Es ist sehr ruhig, abgelegen und ideal für alle, die absolute Entspannung suchen. Spaziergänge oder Fahrradfahren sind zwar theoretisch möglich, die Wege sind jedoch sehr beschwerlich. Dieses Hotel ist daher besonders für Taucher und für Gäste geeignet, die bewusst abschalten und zur Ruhe kommen möchten. Wenn man überhaupt noch etwas anmerken möchte, dann höchstens eine kleine Inspiration… dass die Zimmer eine kleine Modernisierung vertragen könnten. Außerdem wäre ein Kühlschrank im Zimmer oder eine andere Lösung für gekühltes Trinkwasser wünschenswert. Das Trinkwasser kann man zwar kostenlos auffüllen, aber wer trinkt der 28 Grad warmes Wasser, welches die Außentemperatur angenommen hat. Auf Nachfragen bekommt man Eiswürfel. Abgesehen davon gibt es nichts negatives zu benennen.

Ruhig und wunderschön, super kompetentes, freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal, man fühlt sich direkt wie zu Hause! Leckeres Essen, viel Ruhe, wunderschöne Anlage, grosse Zimmer, angenehme Duschen (separat vom WC), bequemes Bett... Alles perfekt. Das Tauchcenter ist ebenfalls erstklassig. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Das Personal ist freundlich, sehr herzlich und aufmerksam. Wir wurden durchgehend mit unseren Namen angesprochen und alles wurde uns so einfach wie möglich gemacht. Transfer, tauchen, Massagen, Essenswünsche,… alles wurde super organisiert.

Wszystko mi się podobało. Resort znajduje sie na wyspie Cabilao, więc transfer z lotniska odbywa się łodzią. Sama wyspa Cabilao to raj z tropikalna roślinnością oraz rafą koralową przy resorcie. Przede wszystkim chciałbym podkreślic bardzo miłą obsługę w resorcie. Pracownicy resortu bardzo dbali o nas. Pokoje to są domki - bardzo dobre warunki. Klimatyzacja bardzo dobrze działała. Jest duży basen oraz jakuzzi. Jedzenie w resorcie zamawia się z karty - ceny niezbyt duże - zwlaszcza, że to wyspa. W karcie są dania azjatyckie, ale też z kuchni niemieckiej oraz włoskiej. Nie jest to wielki resort, więc w trakcie pobytu było może 15-20 osób - głównie z Niemiec, Polski i Szwecji. Resort mogę polecić osobą które cenia spokojny wypoczynek, snoorkowanie lub nurkowanie oraz indywidualne podeǰscie do gości resortu.

Wieczorem gryzły komary, ale nie jakoś bardzo - wystarczy mieć standardowy spray na komary.

Fantastisk personal som reda efter första dagen visste namnen på alla i sällskapet och tilltalade oss med namn. Personalen gjorde vistelsen oförglömlig. Maten var väldigt bra. Hela hotellet var väldigt välskött. Vi kunde inte hamnat på ett bättre ställe. Missa inte detta ställe om du är i Filippinerna. Ett av de bästa ställen vi varit på. 10 av 10.

Vi gillar gillar verkligen hotellet. Fina rum, underbar trädgård med stora ytor. Härlig pool. Personalen är vänlig och personlig och helt underbara. Jag kan verkligen rekommendera Polaris Beach and Dive resort.

Sehr schöner, sauberer, komfortabler und geräumiger Bungalow in toller Lage am Meer. Das Personal war unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit, das Essen war immer lecker. Der Hauswein war gut und günstig und die Hunde rund um die Unterkunft hätten wir am liebsten mit nach Hause genommen:). Leider war es sehr windig, als wir da waren (Juli) und es war nicht möglich, direkt ins Wasser zu gehen, aber circa zehn Minuten entfernt am Leuchtturm war schnorcheln eingeschränkt möglich. Die Anlage ist weitläufig und der Pool hat eine angenehme Größe. Wenn wir in Zukunft noch einmal nach Cabilao kommen sollten, würden wir definitiv wieder hier wohnen wollen

Das Wetter war nicht optimal und die Anreise etwas mühselig - aber das ist natürlich nicht die Schuld des Resorts.

Alles was perfect! Waar ik het meest op let is hygiëne. Die is hier tiptop in orde. Er wordt continu schoongemaakt en dat zie je overal in terug. De kamer heerlijk schoon en insectvrij, het restaurant, zwembad en rest van het park ook heel netjes bijgehouden. Dan het personeel: superlief en vriendelijk. Ze staan altijd gelijk voor je klaar, denken met je mee en dat alles met een grote glimlach. Zo was onze schoen kapot gegaan. Eén van de medewerkers nam hem mee naar haar dorp en de volgende dag was de schoen gemaakt. En we kregen goede tips over onze vervolgreis. Het eten in het restaurant was heerlijk en goed betaalbaar. Combinatie tussen Filippijnse en westerse gerechten. Uitgebreide menu opties die allemaal lekker smaakten. Ik ben heel bang voor kakkerlakken, waardoor ik altijd een muggennet bij me heb op reis. De familiekamer heeft een hemelbed, waardoor ik mijn muggennet heel eenvoudig kon vastmaken. Daardoor heb ik heerlijk geslapen, met een veilig gevoel. Geen enkele kakkerlak gezien overigens. Het zwembad was groot, met bankjes om lekker in het water te kunnen zonnen. Overal in de tuin zijn zitjes, zodat je altijd wel een plekje in de zon, schaduw, liggend, zittend, of wat dan ook kan vinden. We hebben ons verblijf verlengd en dat zegt al genoeg. Wij komen hier zeker terug en we kunnen deze plek aan iedereen aanraden.

Alles was perfect, geen minpunten. Voor reizigers goed om te weten hoe je hier komt. Je kan vanaf de haven van Tagbilaran een Tricycle naar het haventje van Sandingan Island pakken. Dat kost ongeveer 1.000 PHP en duurt 45 min. Vanaf de pier van Sandingan kan je je met een private banca (kleine boot) in 20 min. naar het resort laten brengen. Er liggen altijd genoeg boten klaar in het haventje en het kost ongeveer 1.300-1.500 PHP. Je kan ook vragen of het resort je met hun boot ophaalt. Dat kost ongeveer 1.000 PHP. Bij eb wordt je op een naastgelegen strandje afgezet en moet je nog 5 minuutjes lopen. De crew helpt je dan je bagage te dragen. Trek geschikte waterschoenen of sandalen aan.

De loin, le meilleur hébergement que nous avons eu sur 4 semaines aux Philippines. L'ensemble est exceptionnel avec un jardin très bien agencé et entretenu, tout comme la piscine et les différents équipements (chaises longues, abris en bambou pour déjeuner ou boire un verre, jaccuzi, bateaux, etc...). Le personnel est d'une gentillesse incroyable et toujours prêt pour rendre service. Pour résumer, un petit coin de paradis. Désolé, nous ne pouvons pas mettre une évaluation à 11. Elle est bloquée à 10.

Wow this place is incredible! Me and my partner travelled for one month throughout the Philippines and Polaris was our number one favorite place to stay. The staff is so kind and welcoming. The diving is superb and just a few minutes boat ride away. The dive guides are very caring and have amazing eyes. So much macro life to spot underwater. There is a nice swimming pool and they make great pizzas in their own oven. This place is definitely a "hidden gem" and we will be back some day :) Thanks Polaris team for giving us such a wonderful experience!

The staff here are amazing. They made us feel very welcome and were really helpful. The diving set up is brilliant, has everything you need.

Staff and divemasters was amazing, very beautiful place, good food and they were able to satisfy our dietary needs (Vegan)

No ATM on the island, and Hotel reachable only by small boat (get ready to get wet), that is not an issue but we were not made aware when booked, they issue may rise when you have to pay the boat captain cash, No billiard and darts as described, basically no beach.

The location

Nice place to stay on Cabilao island, away from the busy cities in Bohol. The gardens are wonderful, rooms are spacious and well equipped. The restaurant was good (special note to Carlo for the excellent service and for the pizzas) and we had some great times at the bar while watching stunning sunsets (again special note for Jonathan here). Definitively recommend this hotel, would have loved to stay longer!

Located on a lovely island which is very authentic. I enjoyed exploring the island; walking to nearby beaches and to the bakery which located about 3km away. Was a delightful island to walk around; the local people were so happy to see me. Hotel has a lovely costal setting looking acros to the hills of Cebu. Staff were extremely nice. Food delicious. Nice clean swimming pool. Loved the treehouse room I stayed in. Hope to visit again one day.

Beautiful spot just off the coast of Bohol. Really lovely crew that can help you organize anything, a nice restaurant, great facilities like the pool, bike rental (very good bikes!) and of course diving. The family room was super spacious with 2 floors and 5 beds, great value. They are still constructing some spots due to the typhoon of 2021.

The restaurant was a little overpriced.

I stayed at and dived with Polaris for 5 nights in January 2024 and had an amazing experience which was the highlight of my 10-night trip to Bohol. I will definitely be returning to Polaris (and would encourage others to visit too) for the reasons described below. Rooms: I stayed in one of the treehouse rooms (fan-only, cold water showers) and it was spacious with a wide balcony which was perfect for lounging during the day. The room itself (from the bedroom to the bathroom) was basic but very clean - the staff obviously take pride in maintaining their rooms to a high standard. The first few nights without AC were a little warm, but I got used to it pretty quickly - it's nice to wake up and not feel cold. Food: Food at the resort was excellent. Everything is prepared fresh-to-order and they even have a wood-fired pizza oven. I tried a variety of dishes (sandwiches / pastas / pizzas / soups) and everything was tasty and fresh. There aren't really any restaurants on Cabilao (aside from at the few neighboring resorts) so I had every meal at Polaris. Prices are reasonable for the quality (remember that a lot of ingredients need to be brought over by boat). Diving: Polaris' dive centre is excellent. There weren't many other divers while I was there, so I dived in a group with just my DM (Lito). Lito was one of the best DMs I have had the pleasure of diving with and an overall great guy - he was excellent at spotting interesting macro / small critters - we saw pygmy seahorses, ghost pipefish, countless nudis. All of the dive sites are within a 5-10 minute speedboat ride away, with mostly wall dives along the steep drop-off surrounding the island. The walls are stunning with healthy coral (huge gorgonia), crevices to explore, and abundant marine life (in terms of larger species we saw turtles, great barracuda, huge titan triggerfish).

Located in a small island far from the crowds. It's quiet, well maintained with very friendly staffs. The beach is nice, and one can do snorkeling above the reef near the shore.

The food is rather plain and little pricey. Otherwise, there is none.

Staff is amazing! It felt like having family around rather than working staff. The place is very calm. Mattresses are very comfortable (probably the best I had so far in Philippines) Perfect location to watch beautiful sunset! The dive shop just right there that adjusts to your need! Very chill atmosphere overall!

I would have like to have shampoo in the bathroom. Bathroom is rather old style but didn't bother me.

Everything - the location, the people, the food, the view, the grounds … we have traveled a lot around Asia over the years and this has to be our favourite spot of all. The staff were kind and welcoming and the diving lessons were incredible. We actually extended our stay instead of going on with our trip because we liked it so much, we didn’t want to leave!

Polaris was wonderful, the location was perfect for us in a picturesque and quiet setting. Staff were fantastic, accommodating and friendly. We rescued a tiny puppy from a storm and the staff were kind enough to help me look after her there. (If you see the puppy, Lucky, some food and love will always be welcome, I hope she is still being cared for in our absence).

We were unable to take showers in the tree house room as it only dribbled water.

One of the kindest people and stuff we met during our trip in Philippines. Hotel property and rooms has its own charm, we were surprised after arrival as it was even better than pics on booking. Suitable for people who want to relax away from typical crowded places as there are just you and nature.

This is the location dreams are made of! Made even more magical by the staff!!! Once in a life time must visit!!!!
