Old building, looks very tired on entrance, but rooms were clean & have done what they can for an old building. Staff were very pleasant & friendly. Restaurant upstairs was good . Breakfast was good cooked to order.
Just look beyond first appearance.
Staff were awesome, so welcoming and friendly. Bed in room very comfortable. Restaurant is fantastic absolutely delicious, and the vibe at the bar is great!
Shower was diabolical- no hot water at 8pm on our arrival night. Got up at 5am to retry and shower swung from scalding hot to icy in seconds without adjustment. For the price the shower definitely should be usable. A shame as the rest was absolutely great
Be aware that "mountain view" is to the rear - not wrong, just not the loch view. Rooms were great, staff were better. Great food. No issues here.
I fell in love not just with Shieldaig but this wonderful little hotel - Tigh an Eilean. It is true that the location is beautifully breathtaking, but more importantly, it was the staff that made this a 5 star experience. Located right on the bay, with a view of the White Tail Eagle Sanctuary Island, this is a wonderful retreat from the busyness of everyday life. I would love to spend even more time there in the future.
Access to restaurants and other stores is limited in this location. However all the necessities are covered.
Location.
Bed was extremely uncomfortable. Mattress needs replacing as do pillows.
Loved this place! Felt like I was in a little village in Ireland! The view/setting is stunning, ignoring the pesky midges! I had dinner here in the evening - fantastic service; my waiter was hilarious! I was made to feel so welcome. Food fantastic, staff amazing, location stunning and a lovely room. Put this place on your list!
Nothing - keep doing what you are doing!
Excellent location with a beautiful view right in front of the hotel. Very clean, comfortable and welcoming, with everything you need for a pleasant and relaxing stay. We absolutely loved the breakfast — a huge thank you for making it so special! Everything was absolutely delicious, and we really appreciated the care that went into it.
The location was exceptional
Room was ok could have been a bit cleaner
Very good

Sorry for being bad with names but shout out to the Scottish woman with blue hair and the Bermudan man. Maala the dog loved your cuddles!
Good food Location
Shower was both freezing and burning hot. No warm shower at all
The view and the staff.
Nothing
Position/setting/quirky/lovely view Traffic meant we were too late arriving for our supper booking but pizzas kept for us at 9.30 pm
Broken toilet handle… had to lift lid off cistern to flush! No porridge available for breakfast
Friendly, clean and fab food and beautiful views
Window faces back and view onto staff accommodation and bins are ugly. Would be easy to put up a pretty lace curtain so as to let in the light but hide the view.
Very friendly staff at evening meal Very welcoming

Location was amazing and great restaurant
It wasn’t cheap …
Perfect great food Blake was a star.

Food excellent. Staff friendly. Location stunning.
The plumbing made loud noise in my room on the third night and I didn’t manage much sleep.
The location Beds was comfortable Food was delicious
Water wasn't hot enough for an enjoyable shower. I felt the price was too much but this was my only option
Location is direct opposite to the island
It is so dirty - dust everywhere; pubic hair on toilet; rusty shower head. It is genuinely hazardous for human existence.
Quaint with a very comfy bed! I also loved the sofas in the space where I could sit and read at my own leisure. The best bit was the staff, super friendly and it was lovely to talk to the staff that were from the area as it’s such a different environment to having grown up in a large city.
I don’t think there was anything particular that I didn’t like. We didn’t stay for long enough to truly enjoy the area.
Beautiful location, we arrived very late and were still welcomed with such kindness. The restaurant also was able to allow us to take a few breakfasts to the room while our kids were still sleeping, extra special and many thanks.
Nothing
The location and restaurant at the hotel were excellent, as were the staff.
My only gripe was that some parts of the bathroom and bedroom were dusty
Gréât location and friendly staff
Breakfast slow so didnt wait. anyhow some things not available
TV in room would be good
We had a very enjoyable stay here. The staff were excellent and the hotel was very comfartable. We shall be back.
Location is incredibly beautiful. Dinner with a sunset view on the landscape is an experience in itself! Staff at the restaurant was very friendly. Breakfast was great. We booked two double rooms: one was large with a beautiful view, while the other was significantly smaller and no view. I think both were at the same price.
It was all very good. Only thing: rooms are next to each other and no noise insulation from the corridor so you can hear people speaking. Also, the price is not cheap in high season!
Fantastic location, very well presented

Greeting on arrival was very poor- not welcoming. Bedroom was disappointing with a broken roller blind that was half up at one side and totally down at the other . No soap supplied either for the bath or w h basin.
Really good breakfast. Clean, comfortable and an absolutely amazing location.
One of our rooms (room 8) would have benefited from a black out blind. The curtain was inadequate. We had to improvise with a blanket.
The hotel is situated right on the water and the views were incredible as we were going to sleep and waking up. The staff are very friendly, and with the bar and casual dining right next door, the vibes were wonderful in the evening. The room was comfortable, well-equipped with amenities and lotions & potions. The drive into Shieldaig was stunning too, and general village wonderfully pleasant to walk around at any time of day.
Of course, given the location of the property, this is absolutely understandable but the water pressure could've been a little stronger and hot water took a little moment to arrive. The 5G signal/Wi-Fi is also not very strong, but again, perfectly acceptable given the remoteness. A few more fruit/vegetable options for breakfast would've been a bonus too.
A bit pricy, but nothing else was available. This is an excellent place to stay. Nice rooms, and bathroom with bath tube. Excellent views form the bedroom onto the sea. The restaurant is very good.
I've stayed before. It is a lovely homely hotel in a beautiful location. Everything was brilliant though I thought the staff were a little overworked.
In the evening some other visitors were a bit noisy which is inappropriate in a small place.p
Very peaceful, comfortable beds, perfect for a retreat and spend time alone.
Location
The mattress was like jelly! No TV however wi fi was good so no real issue. Breakfast was look warm.
Loved the location -- it's right on the water, with a cosy restaurant next to it. Great vibe. Incredibly warm, helpful and attentive staff. Breakfast was included and delicious. Clean and comfortable.
It would have been more perfect if it was a little cheaper.
Location was awesome, parking was great. Dog friendly.
They were short staffed, but they were doing all they could to accommodate guests. Unfortunately the rooms we had did not have the loch view, yet cost the same.
Lovely breakfast large room, staff excellent and attentive
Shower very slow and not hot , no TV in room
The location was lovely
The lack of availability of choices from menu and shortage of staff. The few staff were working very hard.
Nice location, good facilities.
Everything was great.

Location.
Dated furniture, uncomfortable mattress. At back of hotel, no view. No TV in room. High cost compared to other hotels providing better facilities.
We stayed 2 nights The young staff work extremely hard as it is obvious they are really understaffed to do the amount of work they are expected to do. We never saw the owner once during our visit
Breakfast took far too long Again due to only one person serving when the restaurant was full of both guests and outside clientele
The bed was comfortable
Outdated and very creaky floors
Great staff, place, food excellent. We will be back in October. Robin.
Location. Friendly Attentive Staff.
Service not great but comfortable and great views Breakfast was good. Restaurant service was ok but not the best
Needed to have someone available when checking in and checking out.
Great location
Staff seemed to be over stretched.Ran out of wine glasses and white sugar which was intriguing.
Breakfast was good. Situation idyllic.
Room miniscule! Food not as good or varied as I have had at this hotel in the past. Prices also gone up more than expected.
The location is stunning. We only paid for a room and no breakfast. We have stayed here before. The hotel is dated but the location and staff are fantastic. It's a really authentic laid back just relax hotel. It faces the loch so you have amazing views. We were on a car run from Inverness and having been in the region many times and our son marrying in Loch Torridon we know the area well. Switch your phone off ...sit on the benches overlooking the loch ...stay at a hotel which makes no demands and enjoy.
We stayed in several places in Scotland, this was the best for all three staff welcome and friendliness, breakfast and comfortable beds! This was a perfect spot for exploring the area. It was also a lovely active spot for both tourists, like us, and locals.
There was nothing we didn't like. It is an older building, as expected, but the room perfectly updated and comfortable, complete with warm towel rack to dry our damp clothes after a rainy hike!
Incredibly friendly staff. Clean, comfortable room. Stunning location.
Nice view Nice restaurant
Location. Overlooking the loch. Great view. Also staff very pleasant, room clean, good breakfast and very dog friendly
All good
The views and the staff in the bar were lovely. Super comfortable bed and wonderful views.
No staff in the hotel, one person to serve breakfast who was clearly very stressed. The hotel clearly needs lots of updating and decorating since the last time we stayed, the rooms are pretty outdated and shabby. The water was lukewarm for a bath BUT the views were stunning. I think the £250 room rate would be justified if it had a lick of paint and freshen up.
The location is exceptional. The food is good.
No gf bread despite letting them know in advance 1 guest is coeliac No lounge as described on website. Bar very noisy and crowded. Children 'playing' on piano loudly and badly during dinner in room open to dining room and noise from bar coming through the other door. Reservation for dinner mixed up so had to wait for 20+ minutes for table. Food order confused (and for others too) Room not refreshed .
Amazing service from staff, very cute and cozy place.
Shower was not great.
Amazing location. Best of all the accomodation we stayed on our tour of Scotland including Isle of Skye. Excellent accomodation. Comfortable. Incredible sea view. Attentive staff. Delicious food in restaurant and bar just next door.
Not much. Only one member of staff at breakfast. She was overloaded. Unfortunate as service was otherwise very good. Recommend at least two staff members for meal times.
Food was excellent but make sure you book in advance and even though an older property rooms were clean and well maintained - staff friendly and accommodating
Be prepared for shortages of items in the bar and on the menu - it is the reality of a remote location
Clean, cozy small Highland hotel; room for 3 worked fine although a little small. Staff worked hard, friendly and attentive, perhaps a little over stretched. Excellent dinner and breakfasts. Cannot beat the view!
Better pillows and mattresses are required; bed linens and towels were great! Meal supplies seem subject to availability…supply chain can be challenging due to remote location.
A sweet little hotel in a pretty location.
Breakfast was limited because a food delivery had not arrived. This was not the fault of the hotel, which is in a remote location.
Nice views to the see, but only one of the rooms. Breakfast fast was good.
Not really a 4 star hotel, just a 2 or 3 stars. A bit dated and old fashioned. No TV, floor was uneven and squicky.
Super Lage. Tolles Dörfchen.
Sehr kleines Zimmer. Hinten raus - no view. Zu teuer für das was geboten wird.
Not a lot
Room very tatty in desperate need of decoration as were the stairs and corridors. Advertised as a four star room with mountain view. Dirty and stained carpet, shower was either scalding hot or stone cold with very low pressure. The basin was cracked. The mountain view comprised of two out buildings which are staff quarters, very scruffy with a rickety and rotten wooden staircase leading too them. The view was topped of by a birdseye view of the dustbin bay for the kitchen. The room is furnished with very tired and old furniture including a broken bedside lampshade. As we were adjacent to staff accommodation they need to be advised that it is unacceptable for the staff to engage in loud and prolonged telephone conversations, on speaker, at 3am outside guest bedrooms. We stayed in nine different accommodations on this trip but this hotel was by a country mile the worst and the most expensive. We complained the next day and the lady we spoke too was very apologetic and she would get the owner to contact us --- still waiting. We stayed in room 5.
Lovely hotel in beautiful little village on picturesque loch
location and paid for breakfast
view out of bedroom window really not mountain view !! Over looked other buildings plus bins, had to leave curtain down for privacy. Rubbish shower and didn’t even get greeted on arrival.
Great location, brilliant food and comfortable bed
Booked a Mountain View, instead met with neighbouring lodge curtain was closed when we entered for good reason. It’s an old building with its quirks (not a complaint) but you could hear and feel everything said/done outside the door. Not sure if a guest or member of staff ran down the corridor but it shook our room quite shockingly. The food was lovely but felt overpriced for what your getting
All individuals encountered, from check-in, bar and breakfast, were friendly
Zero sleep. The vent pipe/flue/chimney from the kitchen was close to my bedroom window. The spinning cowl on top of this rattled loudly all night and made it impossible to sleep. It did not help that the single mattress was well past its bed. It was deeper on one side than the other so felt like trying sleeping on a slope (not that you could sleep due to the insufferable constant rattle outside the window). Room had no TV so couldn’t even watch that while I was kept awake at 1am. And 2am. And 3am. And 4am. And 5am. And 6am. At one point I considered going to try and sleep in my car it was so bad. Room was seriously overpriced considering the size, poor mattress, lack of facilities and lack of sleep! Breakfast underwhelming too - full Scottish with no toast, beans, square sausage or sauces on table. Barely a half Scottish. Very annoyed at home much I paid for this abysmal night.
Parking
This property was the most expensive out of the 3 I stayed in, yet the room was freezing, bedding was damp? Had a rust hole in the bath sealed with silicone, paper peeling all over the ceiling and no tv so your sat with nothing to do. On arrival owners/employees were all drunk so had to go hunt for someone to check us in. Overall awful experience and won’t return.
Vista e personale gentilissimo
Niente
Very friendly staff. Great location. Excellent breakfast
Restaurant service a bit slow. Very noisy but they were very busy. However food was good.
Nicely situated on the side of the loch
We had read bad reviews of the property so we were relieved it didn’t live up to those! But, for the price paid it didn’t offer good value - it was the most expensive by far of the places we stayed during our NC500 trip. The room was small and with no TV, which didn’t seem good for the price. The food in the bar/restaurant was very good although, of course, this wasn’t included in the stay price. We were expecting a good breakfast but this proved disappointing ( though not due to the lovely girl who served us, I think). The breakfast menu seemed very good, and promising, but the whole serving process took about an hour with food for groups coming out one at a time with our porridge turning up after about 45 minutes ( and very disappointing for Scotland). There was loads of smoked salmon on our dish of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast, although the toast was on the side and despite the fact that we waited ages for it it seemed only warm as if it had been languishing in the kitchen for some time. Not sure if toast and marmalade etc was part of the breakfast, but we gave up anyway! After our nice meal the evening before, and the good choice breakfast menu we were expecting to give a good review of the property but I’m afraid for £200 a night, no view of the loch from our small room, and the disappointing breakfast we are u able to do so.
Super friendly staff and an amazing location
Located in a small coastal village
Provided a small room which was advertised as having a ‘mountain view’. In reality, we were located at the rear of the hotel, with a view over the collection of large waste bins. Any other view was largely blocked out by either a large wooden hut or a large bush/tree. Breakfast was not included, despite the very high charge that we paid for this stay
Friendliness of staff ^ location
Staff did sometimes seem rushed
Only issue I had was lack of contact after booking. Had e mailed to find out details of stay and got no response. The hotel is really good to stay in, staff are brilliant. Food in Restaurant next door is first class. Can't fault the hotel for location as it's stunning.
Just really contact information, they don't answer e mails. Maybe I should have phoned. I arrived to be told I couldn't get access to room till 3, meant wandering around admiring the stunning views in the village. Weather was great so wasn't a problem
Stunning location, easy to park, easy to check in
Could have done with a warning to pre-book dinner, there is nowhere to eat anywhere for miles and the dining room was booked up
The location is superb.
It seemed a bit disorganised but maybe that is because it’s early in the season.
One very hard working evening waitress.
The manager/owner, rude, ignorant. The rooms were noisy, room 15 has an alcove because of next doors bathroom. It seemed as though they were in our room.
Lovely location, friendly staff and great food!

The location. The cleanliness and the staff were top notch 👌❤️

162€ la nuit, c'est cher pour ce qui est proposé
One staff member covering all orders - cooking and taking orders. Nightmare service. Forgot food orders.
The location of this hotel is absolutely stunning. Breakfast and dinner were both very good, and the staff were very friendly and hard working.
The heating in our room took a long time to warm up and there was only a heated towel rail in the quite large bathroom. Also the water didn't get quite hot enough, probably because although our room was lovely, it is probably the furthest away from the main part of the hotel. The bar and restaurant were incredibly busy both nights we were there, I don't know if it is always like that, but maybe they were short staffed?
Great location for the area. The room is clean and the staff is helpful. Only tiny issue is that the hotel is close to nowhere, which is expected. Make sure you book the restaurant for the stay if you have no other dinner plan.
Room is a little smaller than my expectation. But absolutely worth the money.
Pretty location
Of the 12 places I booked this for my trip around Scotland this was by far the most expensive (even though most of my other rooms were for doubles) and also the most disappointing. I paid £140 for a single bed room with 'mountain view', no breakfast, so I was expecting something good based on all my other stays. The location of this hotel is stunning but you would be better stopping just for a meal or drink to soak up the views. From the outside it looks fine but entering the reception, it, and the stairs to the bedrooms smelled of fish. The room smelled of either smoke or some airfreshener (to cover the fish smell?), not sure what but it was unpleasant. The view was the side of a hill and a cabin - maybe you could see a bit of the mountain behind sat at a certain angle on the bed but it feels disingenuous to call it a mountain view. The room and ensuite is dated with all mismatched furniture, I noticed other things - the curtains were see through, the bathroom flooring had dirty shoe prints on it and needed fixing down, there was no plug to the sink, hot and cold taps plumbed wrong way, there was no pump dispensers on the half full shower gels meaning water from my shower got in them (hope no one gets to use them) and generally felt shabby. Small things on their own but together add up. There are no TVs in the rooms but as you can hear EVERYTHING from within the rooms that probably isnt such a bad thing. There was a repeating noise, maybe from an extractor coming on every 10 minutes so I didnt get to sleep for a while. Decent towels and shower OK but water pooled on floor adjacent. The staff were ok but very busy manning the bar so didn't tell me where my room was. Immediately they asked whether I wanted dinner there but I wanted to check the place out before I agreed to that. Rooms at the front of the hotel will have a nice view but those rooms are even more expensive so I would say there are much nicer and better value places to stay with a view.
WAS REALLY GOOD
NO TV IN ROOM
Super welcoming staff who welcomed us as we walked in the door! We felt right at home instantly! The mix of locals and tourists made for a fun evening and the food was superb. We loved our room; the bed was spacious and comfortable. It was one of our top spots to stop on the NC 500 route. Special shout out to staff Claire and Shannon who made the night extra special!
The beds were comfy. Nothing else
Very dated, poor facilities, no TV in room, yes that's a thing, low shower pressure, noisy hallway floors and doors, no sound insulation, poor quality breakfast, massively overpriced, nothing local to get away from hotel at night.
Magnifique emplacement et séjour très confortable
