Really beautiful pub. The staff were friendly and accommodated us with a late meal. The quality of the food was excellent!!
The window in the bedroom didn't open so the room was a bit stuffy overnight. It needs airflow
It was very convenient for Lavenham. The hotel was quaint and had character. The food was excellent. I was upgraded from a single to a double room and it was very comfortable.
Nothing!
Lovely comfortable bed, the music system, was very good to use with are phone with Spotify.
Nothing at all
Beautiful period building tastefully designed
The staff are lovely food is amazing room was clean and very comfortable nice courtyard to have a drink the bars nice too and plenty of parking
This is not a criticism but my pork was over cooked which is easy to do but the flavour was spot on and I still cleaned the plate
Everything was superb, thoroughly recommend

Fabulous attention to detail - decor, cleanliness, food and staff. Stunning building. Excellent dining
Couldn’t fault anything
Staff were friendly and attentive, there seemed to be a good workplace community. Room had everything I needed, and the bed was comfortable.
Room was not very soundproof but the hotel was quiet at night so this wasn't a big problem :)
A very good choice of breakfast. All served to table, which made it a bit slow but as we were not in a rush it didn't matter. The evening dinner menu was very good and our choice, the fish, was really inventive and delicious, as were the snacks and starters. Good wines. Lovely bedroom and a sweet village to have evening walks around. Everybody was very friendly and happy to chat. Little or no commercialisation to spoil the restful atmosphere.
Both dinner and breakfast service could have been a little more organised, we seemed to be waiting around, or trying to locate staff. Perhaps they were short staffed. (Unfortunately the whole of the road in front of the hotel was out of bounds because of protracted excavations for utilities works. Although the staff were very helpful with information, the detour round country roads must have been tedious for regulars, and damaging for business over all. This was entirely OK for us but just bad luck for the whole village.)
The staff, the room

Everything
The road works, not their fault!
Great clean comfortable rooms, staff above and beyond. Will be back yet again.
Room very hot and fan was weak
Beautiful room which looked like it had been recently decorated. Very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom with bath and shower. Friendly staff. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel as we were going to a party but breakfast was great.
The road closure is a nuisance bout that’s not in the Crown’s control. Our only tiny criticism of the room was that there was no electric socket near a mirror for the hairdryer.
We liked everything, from the ambience to the style, decoration and the staff. The food was great too. A lovely stay.

Lovely room, very clean and comfortable
On arrival, we were offered a flask of fresh milk to take to our room - a nice touch. The cooked breakfast was excellent. It was good to be offered a jug of fruit juice when ordering tea and coffee.
One of us had sirloin steak and the other venison on the first night. Both were a little tough.
Great team to look after us, makes all the difference. Genuinely character property, v comfortable rooms. Restaurant dinner and breakfast all top notch. Nice gardens for a drink early evening
There was a very good choice of breakfast which was cooked to order and high quality. My husband commented that the kippers were the best he had ever eaten!
Initially a convenient location on a wet windy cycle tour and well known from previous visits. Dinner was and has been exceptionally good, staff very pleasant and helpful as needed.
Nothing
Lovely staff, great location in a very pretty village and beautiful building, gorgeous food. Very high quality menu. Overall fantastic in every aspect. Would return here in a heartbeat
Room a bit warm in this current heatwave
Comfy room, lovely restaurant, nice staff. Everything was great
One from my wife: the hairdryer has a stupidly short cable and because of the mirror positioning and power points, you cant exactly stand in front of a mirror and dry your hair
Great find, unspoilt, great service, excellent breakfast
Nice sized room with large, comfy bed and good sized bathroom in this wonderful old inn. Great real ales and wines. Dinner was superb- one of the best meals we've eaten this year, clearly cooked with care from local produce. Great car parking availability, and nice garden areas.
Not much- minor quibble is that the room overlooked the courtyard which was noisy until the bar shut, but nothing you wouldn't expect from an inn this size.
Rooms were brilliant - lots of space and very charming. Bathroom was spotless. Staff were incredibly helpful, including the lady who let us in at 2 in the morning (slightly the worse for wear after a wedding). Breakfast was excellent (a real life-saver). The weather was scorching and they had put fans in both our rooms.
No issues at all.
Very ggod local bacon and sausage.
The servi ce charge at the bar! Too. much...
Historical. Great rooms. Interesting layout.

Beautiful pub, smart, clean, nicely decorated.

Very clean room, comfortable bed, bar and restaurant good, superb welcoming staff, very helpful. Adequate parking at rear. Children’s play area. I would stay here again.
Lovely staff, room, breakfast and property. Staff very helpful and welcoming.
Spotless as always. It really is attention to detail on all areas of the property. The staff are all young and local, food seems to be locally sourced. A top quality stay. I stay in many places and this ranks among the best for country pubs. Well worth the drive in the lovely Suffolk country. Breakfast always excellent.
A few basic meals on the menu would be welcomed.
Beautiful old rambling building. Excellent bar and restaurant. Lovely to be in.
Lift unable to be repaired, therefore 1st floor harder to access for disabled.
Gorgeous period building
Nothing
Perfect for us. Lots that you can’t see from the road. Lovely outside areas, easy parking, comfortable large bed and shower as well as bath. Extremely helpful and friendly staff.
There was nothing we didn’t like. Maybe have a different menu for the evening and make the specials board more obvious.
As always ridiculously good!
Can’t get in it’s that good
Interiors were very high quality but made you feel very comfortable. Staff were friendly, willing to have conversations and seemed really proud of their role and organisation.
Nothing, it really was lovely and although not cheap it was good value for money for something of a treat
Beautiful spacious room and restaurant, with very warm welcome and atmosphere.
Nothing.
Quirky property, great rooms, friendly staff, perfect location for our sons home 20mins away
Nothing or perhaps they could have commented we had stayed before

Great location for what I was doing. Bedrooms were great and the bar where I had supper.
I stayed an extra night as I loved it so much.
Perfect for a solo traveller. Staff are very attentive , friendly and always professional. Rooms are fabulous. A touch of luxury and everything you need. Food is amazing. Situated in a quaint little village in a beautiful part of Suffolk. Cosy bars and good outdoor space to sit in if weather is warm enough. The courtyard was ideal for me, as a solo traveller. I felt comfortable sitting alone, enjoying a drink and reading my book. This had been my second visit to The Crown and I shall definitely be returning.
Cannot fault anything.
Comfortable rooms , Good food . Old building with character Thickly carpeted rooms helping with soundproofing Staff kindly moved us to a room not above the bar
Not a complaint but would have been helpful to be more clear which breakfast option was included as part of the package. We just ordered one item from menu but other hotel guests seemed to be brought plate after plate :-) So perhaps it’s more generous than we thought .
Attentive staff. Classy environment. Great food. Excellent as usual.
Nothing to dislike. Just perfect.
The quality and cleanliness, food, parking and authentic history
After a recent operation my stay could have been improved had the existing lift not been out of action
The parking and location was great, peaceful and quiet. The place had a lovely ambience and the staff were so friendly.
The rooms were very pleasant and comfortable and, when we asked for a slightly larger one, we were given one without fuss.
The bath needed more thorough cleaning and the food at dinner was a bit hit and miss and quite expensive. I was served chopped up asparagus stalks in a sauce with a poached egg when it is usually served whole! The venison though was perfect…
The evening meal was superb, the breakfast was good and the staff were very welcoming. The setting and ambience were spot on for a pleasant break in the country.
Everything was fine.
Intelligent, welcoming, polite, attentive staff. Beautiful premises very tastefully furnished and decorated. Relaxed vibe, excellent food and drink. Comfortable bed. Didn’t hear a peep from another room (some noise from the bar below late on but that was quite fun and to be expected).Lovely walks.
Nothing
Exceeded my expectations - faultless. Room delightful - considerable attention to small details. Dinner & breakfast - table service food very good.
Lovely hotel and great food!
Very clean
It’s a lovely building, with charming rooms and a pleasant helpful team throughout.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
The crown has been so well refurbished the rooms were stunning.
Can’t fault anything
As a company we have been using The Bidleston Crown every week for the last year, excellent rooms, excellent food, and lovely surroundings. Great place to stay and Highly recommend. Fiona is always very friendly and helpful as are all of the staff.
Friendly, engaging staff. Very good bar and restaurant, great food and selection of drinks in a friendly, cosy setting. Clean, well equipped, comfortable room.
Nothing.
Location was ideal as it was a 2 minute walk from the friends we were visiting. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good too, very fresh.
No aircon in the room so this wouldn't work for us in the summer (appreciate the age of the property, this is just a personal view). The location was ideal and we travelled by train then taxi to the hotel. A watch out is getting a taxi back! not the fault of the hotel at all but make sure you pre book well in advance. You are miles from anywhere!
Very welcoming efficient staff, rooms very comfortable and excellent food in the restaurant. Good location.
The staff were excellent. The room was clean and large with lots of lovely quirky touches
I think that toast should have been offered before breakfast when the orange juice came
I got upgraded into a beautiful room, the staff were all really polite too! The hotel was clean and very comfortable to stay in.
Just the location is a little bit unideal because of a road cloudier but nothing to the hotels fault- still an amazing stay!
Everything, the front of desk staff, the restaurant staff and the bar staff. All very well trained, polite and extremely professional.
Quiet, lovely room, fantastic shower
Evening meal was a let down, expensive and not enough meat!
Excellent breakfast - just the right quantity for me
Very clean and staff exceptionally friendly.
A bit high priced.
A very pleasant (?)17th. century inn, tastefully decorated throughout with some nice little touches. Tea and coffee maker in the room with complimentary bottled water and homemade shortbread. A nice deep bath in the shower room with complimentary toiletries. Nicely positioned in the heart of the village with ample parking at the rear. The bar area is comfortable with a nice log fire.
Didn't get too much sleep because the room was so hot. This seemed to be a common experience with the other two couples we stayed with. We explained that we were going to be late back that evening and told that if the door was locked there would be a phone number to ring. We arrived back just before midnight and as the door was locked we phoned the number. After ringing for a while it went onto answerphone saying that there was nobody available to take our call but if we wanted to book a room then to go onto their website. Not very helpful. Fortunately we were able to find a fire door that hadn't been locked and were able to get in otherwise I don't know what we would have done.
Very comfortable, luxurious room and good atmosphere. Staff extremely helpful. Breakfast good. Nice touches in room such as homemade shortbread, fresh milk and coffee machine.
No complaints.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful room with massive bed, high quality linens & fantastic bathroom. Restaurant excellent, and fantastic vegetarian breakfast. Quality China crockery too!
Just to be picky needed shower cap and face flannel. But that’s being really pedantic.
Excellent food, lovely room.
This was our second time staying here and we absolutely love it. The staff are exceptionally customer focused and our room (number 14) was super comfortable and cosy. The bed was delightdul and the bed linen is top quality. There are plentiful teas and coffee's in the room as well as a lovely addition of shortbread. Toileteries are well stocked. Breakfast is delicious and attention is paid to detail. The ambience of The Crown is wonderful and it is set in the most beautiful of lcoaitons.
We are Vegetarian and although dinner has a Vegetarian option, another option would be fabulous.
Fantastic all round
