As soon as I arrived the staff was so kind and polite. Even though I arrived late they reassured me and put my dinner aside, just waiting for me. They treat me as one of their (beautiful) family, we've talked and laughed a lot. At any moment they're available to help and suggest you what to do. The manager is a beautiful person, as for all his friends (mostly three of them who I'm grateful to) who help and laugh with me. The local meals are so traditional and distinctive that you simply must try them! The homestay is in an amazing landscape full of rice terraces and forests, the atmosphere was so evocative. I had a small room but with all the essentials and the bed (mattress) was so comfortable (the best one I've found up to now in Vietnam). The bathroom was small with no air change and you have to adapt yourself to the space, but it's with anything you need. Here in this homestay and this valley you can understand what really matters. Thank you again!
For those with a bit of an adventurous spirit, there’s plenty to explore nearby. Renting a scooter allowed us to visit waterfalls, hot springs, and more remote parts of the region. Every trip out felt like a small adventure worth taking.
The room was simple but thoughtfully prepared, offering everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was cozy, the space was clean, and after long days of exploring, it felt like the perfect place to rest and recharge.
This is the perfect place for anyone looking to truly slow down and enjoy the moment. Riding a bike through the rice paddies, greeting locals along the way, and exploring small communities gave us a deeper appreciation of rural Vietnamese life.
We initially stopped here just for a quick lunch during our journey, but it turned into so much more. The food was exceptional, and the service was attentive without being overwhelming. It was one of those unexpected travel moments that end up being a highlight of the trip.
One afternoon turned into one of the most unforgettable moments of our trip. What started as a relaxing time by the pool quickly became a lively gathering filled with music, laughter, and even dancing. Sharing “happy water” with the hosts added a playful and cultural twist to the experience.
Excellent, friendly and clean place to stay, and I got a free upgrade to a private room too! Staff were lovely, inviting us to eat and drink with them for free
All good. Scooters were not in a great condition
What truly made this stay special was the warmth of the hosts. They didn’t just provide a place to stay—they created an experience. Always smiling, always ready to help, they made us feel like part of their home. Their kindness and genuine care left a lasting impression on us.
Dining here was more than just eating—it was a cultural journey. Every dish was prepared with fresh, local ingredients and reflected the flavors of the region. From tender local pork to flavorful hill chicken and fresh stream fish, each meal felt authentic and memorable.
From the moment we arrived, we felt completely disconnected from the noise of everyday life. Surrounded by lush rice fields and quiet villages, this place offers a rare sense of calm that’s hard to find elsewhere. Waking up to the sounds of nature and fresh mountain air made every morning feel refreshing and grounding.
Stunning views from outside the room and from the breakfast area! Absolutely beautiful location - easy to reach others cafes etc along the same road on a bike. The man who runs the homestay is very friendly and the other staff were very accommodating too. The breakfast was nice, and it was really sweet of the staff to put on dinner for all the guests that wanted to join on our final night.
There could be a little more attention paid to maintaining the room - the glass on the door was smashed and held in place with tape - this was actually fine, even though there was a massive storm, but hopefully the rooms will be updated when there's a chance.
Verder erg fijne plek.
From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel genuinely welcome. They were incredibly kind, helpful, and always ready to share tips or stories. Their warmth created such a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that it felt more like visiting friends than staying at a homestay.
Staying here was one of the highlights of our trip to Vietnam. The location is ideal for exploring the Pu Luong area, surrounded by stunning rice fields and peaceful countryside. We loved biking around and discovering nearby villages—it felt authentic and untouched.
Gastvrije mensen, super mooie locatie
You can rent a motorbike directly there, which made getting around super easy. The owner also helps organize tours and gives great local recommendations, including some hidden spots that most tourists wouldn’t find on their own. It really helped us make the most of our time. We stayed for two days and honestly enjoyed every single moment.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a good stay. There’s also a simple but tasty breakfast included, which was a great way to start the day—especially the pancakes. Small details like this made the experience even better. Everything felt easy and well thought out, which made our stay very smooth and enjoyable.
The owner is what makes this place so special. He is incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. During our stay, he invited guests to share meals together, which created such a friendly and connected atmosphere. It felt natural and not forced at all. You can really tell he cares about people and wants everyone to have a good experience. His energy sets the tone for the whole place.
What I really liked about this place is how it suits different kinds of travelers. Whether you’re traveling as a couple or on your own, it works perfectly. The private rooms are comfortable and well set up, while the dorms are clean, cozy, and well maintained. It’s easy to meet people if you want, but also just as easy to have your own space.
Beautiful location Friendly staff There is a few walking routes just from accomodation Free drinking water
The room had very high humidity, and the air felt stale and musty. After just three nights, some of my belongings even started to develop mold. The equipment was basic. "The bed might be too firm for some people, but it was fine for me.
Man sollte keinen Luxus erwarten.
The owner was very friendly and I got a free upgrade! A nice homestay with a good view.
We loved the scenery!
One should expect wholesome, homemade, country food. Don’t go there expecting a high-end restaurant experience. Also, be sure to bring warm clothes; it gets quite chilly at night.

We arrived and were immediately welcomed by the owner. Even though it was late, he personally prepared a delicious dinner for us and made us feel completely at home. We loved spending time with the other guests and the wonderful people from the homestay. There is no need to pre-book activities, as the homestay offers a wide range of options that were carefully tailored to our preferences. Everything was arranged with such care, which made our experience even more special. We can definitely recommend this place. Our stay went far beyond expectations and was truly unforgettable. We could not have wished for a better place to discover Pu Luong.
Got a free upgrade to a private room and unexpectedly was also provided with authentic Vietnamese lunch and dinner, not just breakfast. The staff were so kind and welcoming and the views are stunning.
We stayed one night at this magnificent homestay. The place is beautiful with an exceptional view of the rice fields. The location is excellent for exploring the area. The family who runs the homestay is very helpful and can help organize day trips. The owner invited us to dinner with his family, and we had a wonderful evening together eating traditional Vietnamese food. The room was large, spacious, and clean with a view of the rice fields. The bed is traditional Vietnamese, so it's firm. A fantastic experience. The owner speaks English.
I have been traveling all around the world and is probably one of the best experience I ever had Pu luong is a beautiful place and oh pu luang is a must do if you're there. Solo traveler you must go and get lost in rice fields the owner will give you good advise to go, and for group travler he knows how to give the best experience of this place, I saw him bring people discover the best vue 1 day is not enough, is so much to see, I have been 2 days and I still feel I miss so much... Even if it was the best I saw in Vietnam so far 👌 Is also a English speaker with is not the case all around so he can help you to set up your visit
Very lovely owner - took good care of me while travelling solo. Spent one night there and it was a very authentic, wholesome experience. Amazing views from the dorm room & the balcony! Make sure you get up early to see a beautiful sunrise :) Also was just by myself in the dorm which was great. The busses to Ninh Binh and Hanoi depart right in front of the homestay which is very handy too. As it’s hard to get around in Pu Luong it’s probably best to book a tour to see the waterfall, villages,…
The location of this homestay, surrounded by rice fields, is beautiful. The owner is very welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful stay in this quiet and relaxing place, thanks to the owner's warm welcome.
Really nice staff and the owner is really helpful. I recommend 100%
I had a very pleasant stay at the Palm Lodge. I arrived late, in the night, but the host welcomed me without any hassle. The room was very nice and the bed very comfortable. The host gave me recommendations for excursions in Phong Nha and answered all my questions. I was able to rent a scooter; it was my first time driving, and the host accompanied me and showed me how to use it. The food is very good; I really enjoyed it. I stayed another night! I recommend this place; it's very well located. The host is very attentive. Go there with your eyes closed.
A peaceful place surrounded by mountains. The facilities are simple but well maintained. The owner is very kind and welcoming — I had a few meals with him and his friends, and he helped me plan a hike and rent a motorbike. The hostel can also arrange transport to and from the area at a fair price. I would recommend this place for backpackers:)
Stunning views, and a friendly, professional team. The guide and staff were incredibly enthusiastic and made the experience unforgettable.
We had a wonderful experience at this homestay. Great food, very beautiful views and the owner is very friendly and helpful. He invited us to join him and his family for dinner, including a show of traditional Pu Luong dances! Totally recommended :)
They went above and beyond to help plan a great tour for our family. We’ll definitely return next time!
Clean room with air conditioning, tasty meals, and super friendly service. The staff also gave us great tips on beautiful places to visit nearby!
The guide was friendly, enthusiastic, and incredibly helpful throughout the trip. I’ll definitely be coming back — and next time, I’m bringing more friends with me!
Beautiful views! Comfortable dorm room. Owner let me join some tours for a discounted price
Small bathroom was shared by all dorm guests plus restaurant guests, drivers, etc. No lockers in the dorms for storing valuables
We had the chance to visit with our friend and stayed at the most relaxing spot in Pu Luong. We truly wished we could’ve stayed longer. Big thanks to the host for his warm and thoughtful help.
The room had lots of space, the food was great, the staff was kind and helpful. The view from the balcony was also amazing!
The service was absolutely excellent! The scenery was breathtaking — both majestic and poetic. The tour guide and the entire staff were incredibly enthusiastic, professional, and attentive.
Delicious food and super friendly, attentive staff.
The surrounding landscape is trully amazing. We enjoyed walk to the cave and through the rice fields and then relaxed on the terrace with the best view you can imagine. The owner was also very nice, welcoming and helpful. Thank you!
So dirty - no soap in bathroom, dead bugs in the bed as well as getting mauled by bed bugs. They didn’t turn on the hot water so I had to manually turn it on and wait for it to heat up. Food was expensive and not great. Only upside was the view.
The view was absolutely beautiful from the private room as well as from the common areas. The very few times we saw the owner (only English speaker in the whole staff), he was very welcoming and friendly, gave us good indications for a walk to the Bat Cave and offered us our last meal (traditional food) which was highly appreciated. We loved the whole vibe of the homestay that felt quite traditional (including the hard mattresses).
The check in was very difficult with no English speaker staff to explain anything in the room (water heater system, fan etc). The room was ok but had an anormal level of humidity even taking into account the very humid weather. The bathroom was visibly quite dirty and lacking basic amenities that could easily improve our comfort such as a bath rug or soap and shampoo, which given the price should be provided.
The lady working there is nice. The owner sent someone to do a tour around Pu Luong for a very good price for me. The mosquito nets need to be cleaned. When i opened it, a lot of insects fell on my mattress. Also, there was no water in the toilet in the morning.
Great staff and good hospitality also tasty breakfast
It was quit crowded in the dorms and also the shower was uncomfortable and small
Incredible view, great spring rolls
Food was a bit expensive
Great view, friendly people and good food
The place is nice but they could take care of it more. I stayed in the common room and it was ok, the mattress was like stone but I didn’t mind that much. The owner is very nice (he’s the only one speaking English) he invited to me to have family lunch with them and told me about some trekking to do - I didn’t join any tour, I just did them by myself. The food was ok, I wouldn’t say incredibile, but after a day of trekking it was nice to just eat at the place and spend some time with other travellers.
The bathroom situation for the dorm was not ok, I don’t know if it was just a momentary thing, but we had to use the bathroom of one of the single bedrooms. It was dirty most of the time and lacked toilet paper.
Even though I book the accomodation late in the evening, the owner was happy to accept me. He even upgraded my room to a better one and invited me to eat and drink with him and his friends. It was such a pleasant evening. The room is clean with a moskito net. The bathroom is basic but that is a standard for homestays in this area A great value for money
Amazing scenery of Pu Luong We had a really funny evening with all the guests and drivers at the dinner table I was lucky joining the tours with Zoom, I loved visiting the villages and going for a hike with him! Good for those who are looking for a less touristy place
Only one toilet/shower, could be cleaned more often
Everything was great! Le location, the food, the view, the team!
Nothing ! It was very nice !!
It’s beautiful and has a restaurant and motorcycle rental available as well. Lots of great hikes like the bar caves in the area
Just the hard bed was hard on my back but helped wake up early in the morning to start the day
Good budget stay, kind staff, if you wanna meet new people this is a good place to do so
Mattress was very hard, it was quite loud at night (insects and other guests coming back late).
Everything is so good at this homestay. The view from the terrasse is amazing. The owner and the girls working in the kitchen are so kind and welcoming and make you feel relaxed and at home. I booked a dorm bed but when I arrived the owner upgraded me to a private room without extra cost. It is absolutely beautiful place and superb for activities such as hiking and exploring caves and waterfall and what I liked the most is that Pu Luong still has this authentic local feel not so touristic. A genuine great and memorable experience for me the days that I spent in that paradise.
Nothing.
Mr boss is an extremely welcoming and friendly person. We arrived very late and he still made a fire, Gave us food, rice wine and tea. Told us all about the activities around and was a very funny person to spend a night with.
I arrived late at night, and despite the late hour, they were there to greet me with a smile. They were always ready to assist with anything I needed, from giving me directions to recommending nearby spots to visit. Their warmth truly made my stay special.
Very nice surroundings, the owners were really hospitable, they gave us a lot of information on where to go hike on our own, which was very appreciated. Also the room was clean and nicely decorated!
Some of the food was definitely good, but other dishes were really poorly made, microwaved or just unfrozen. Lots of the food on the menu was very expensive, however the owner offered us some food for free. The owner rents you a scooter via a third party (apparently the only one around ) at 300k/ per day (ridiculous). We tried 3 scooters and all of them had major problems like constant stalling, breaks not working, flat tyre ect... Therefore no Sunday Market for us... It's not the owner's fault however he doesn't provide any other option.
The delicious breakfast, they also served tasty lunches and dinners. Every meal was freshly prepared with local ingredients, and the flavors were incredible. I especially loved the local dishes, they gave me a real taste of the region.
The homestay is surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains, clouds, and rice terraces. Waking up to the sight of misty mornings and green hills was truly a magical experience. The scenery made this stay unforgettable, and it was wonderful for anyone wanting to reconnect with nature.
The house is built in a traditional wooden house style, which made my stay feel authentic and cozy. The wooden interior added a rustic touch to the experience, and it was great to stay in such a peaceful, nature-filled place in Pu Luong. It felt like the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
It was a handy place to stop. And nice views across the valley.
No water at the property. Was unable to wash or shower. No staff available to talk to about it for 2 hours. Was very disappointing.
It's an ideal place to relax, offering breathtaking sunrises, and it's also a perfect base for trekking to Kho Muong village. The tour guide was very witty and definitely knowledgeable, sharing many interesting stories that added to the experience.
The scenery here is absolutely stunning, with a view of the vast rice fields. The locals told me that the best time to visit is in September and October. Therefore, if I have the chance to visit Vietnam again, I will definitely return here in September.
