A very pretty pub , perfectly located walking distance to Hawes which has lots of cafes pubs and some lovely shops The food was amazing at the green dragon
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like
The accommodation proved was excellent. Lovely large modern room. Extra-comfy bed in a well appointed room.
The 13th century bar is full of character but can get overcrowded at busy times.
Clean, lovely old pub, great location, good was amazing, staff great and the bed was comfy xxx
Nothing
A nice place for a one-night stop on the way north. It's located in a very small English village, with a single pub that also has guest rooms upstairs. The food in the pub was good, but it's worth booking a table in advance as it gets busy. Breakfast was very good as well, with freshly prepared local dishes cooked by the owners.
The room was very small – there was barely enough space for the bed. On the plus side, the area was quiet and peaceful, with the charm of the English countryside.
The room was beatiful the staff are super friendly, breakfast was loverly , location is nice and quiet , we slept like logs.
Nothing
The quirkiness of the property
Unable to access room an hour before 4pm without paying an extra charge. It was obvious the rooms were ready earlier. Just seems to be an excuse to make extra money. We had two rooms booked Unfortunately one of the rooms had leaking toilet which made the floor slippery and unsafe especially as one member of the party was on crutches. when pointing this out to a staff member on leaving the impression was they already aware of the problem . So why was the room aloud to be occupied?
The location was perfect. Lovely views and only just of the beaten track. Great walk across the fields to all the amenities in Halse. Ideal for a walk up to the waterfall. Great food. Friendly staff. Very comfortable bed and a great hospitality tray.
Parking could be a problem but we managed to get into the car park. Our room was very small but adequate for the two nights we stayed. Main problem was the lack of sound proofing between rooms. On our second night someone set of the fire alarm which made it difficult to get back to sleep.
Lovely bedroom, comfortable bed but it was quite small for 2 people.
Rooms to eat were too packed. Not enough people serving. Evening meals nice, but expensive. Breakfast was good if you are there VERY EARLY. Despite saying breakfast was until 10, we arrived at 9:30 and they had no bread left at all, the boiling water jug to make a cup of tea was empty and when asked if it could be re filled was told no, breakfast has finished, despite it still being within the allotted time!
An excellent place to stay, clean and comfortable bed
breakfast was a bit sad....36 baked beans does not represent a portion (yes, I counted them) it was poorly presented and cold when it arrived,
the standard room was quite small but had a wiff of smelly drains to it, It was clean and comfortable though.
It’s filthy throughout. The electrics are dodgy. We lost power in the room overnight. The shower didn’t work. Spoke to staff at the time and also in the morning. Lady was quite rude at breakfast.
We had a really lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The pub is beautifully maintained, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and everything felt very clean and well looked after. The room was absolutely beautiful — spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated and with everything we needed for a pleasant stay. You can really tell that a lot of care has been put into the place. The breakfast was also more than satisfying, with plenty of choice and everything we tried was delicious. It was a great way to start the day!
The only small downside was that, as the rooms are located above the pub, it was a little noisy in the evening. However, the noise stopped around 10pm, so it really wasn’t a major issue for us and we had no trouble enjoying a good night’s sleep afterwards.
Has a great one night stay. Lovely pub and great location. Had a lovely meal in the pub on the evening. room was very clean and comfortable. Had a good nights rest. Enjoyed a lovely breakfast and walk up to the falls in the morning, Highly recommend. Only reason it wasnt a 10/10 is parking can be tricky as shares car park with the falls so is well utilised.
Nothing, great stay,
Excellent location, comfortable, clean rooms. Most of the staff were ok, food was generally good
Got the sense that we were an inconvenience as customers and residents. Everything needed to be paid up front, whether it was the accommodation bill, meals, or a cup of tea. Would have thought residents would be given priority for meal seating in the old parts of the bar but that’s not the case. Both meals we had were served late, about 40 mins after ordering, the last being breakfast. Several people left without eating as they needed to start their walk.
Beautiful old building Room decor fab and clean
Not really a dislike, although very well equipped, the room was snug.
The room was nice and clean
The staff needed to do a course in social skills. Basic things like, making guests feel welcome, being courteous and helpful, creating a positive impression, seemed non existent. Check in was from 4pm. We arrived early at 2.30pm and went into the bar to see if there was any chance of an early check in. We were greeted with a curt, “you can’t check in until 4pm” We sat down and had a drink in the busy bar. Our room wasn’t ready by 4pm. It was 4.35pm. We’d been standing around in a busy thoroughfare, with our case for what seemed like an eternity. We were led upstairs to the room by a rude, highly stressed member of staff. No apologies were offered for the delay. Overall impression, a poorly managed, overpriced location for accommodation…and don’t let me start on the breakfast!!
Location and room
Staff very busy, food very rushed and the roast lamb was sub standard
Very quaint and the bedroom was beautifully decorated. Also had a good choice of filter coffee, tea, water and biscuits. Good selection of real ales at the bar.
People staying didn’t get preference for tables for evening meals and had to prebook ahead.
Alles perfekt
Lovely area and friendly . Room was very cramped and food was nt great
Food not great
Beautiful Room and Bathroom in a wonderful location.
Upon arrival, it was difficult to know where to check in and I had to find my way through a very dark pub with uneven floors and was kindly directed to the back bar, round the corner by another guest. When I said I was checking in, a very rude young man barked out the questions - name, how long was I staying, car reg etc. There was NO warm welcome, no eye contact, no acknowledgement etc. I felt like walking out. The shower had the controls OUTSIDE of the shower and when you opened the shower doors to get in, the water sprayed out everywhere onto the bathroom floor. I mopped up the pools of water with the bath mat and it was apparent that the floor was dirty, as the white mat was very quickly discoloured a "light brown colour". There were no grab rails in the shower or near the bath, which I thought was obligatory for health and safety reasons. It was fairly dangerous exiting from the shower onto the floor as it was a fair step down. We're not all 18 and flexible!
The Green Dragon was just like we expected, old, casual, relaxing and great food and drink. The room we had (#3) was wonderful. The beds were so comfortable and the room was quiet and clean. Would love to come back!
The parking was a little difficult. Very few spots.

Good location. Good food and beer. Very generous breakfasts.
There was not always room to park. Our room was not properly serviced for a couple of days.
The situation; the comfortable bedrooms; and the food.
Very limited parking; very slow service at dinner due to it being busy; public toilets far from clean; quite scruffy bar and dining areas
The room was very comfortable and spacious
I missed the personal service
Nice hotel in a beautiful area. Rooms were nicer and more spacious then expected.
Couldn’t open a window in the bathroom.
Brilliant location with the waterfall easily accessible. Lovely historic inn. We stayed in a suite- really spacious and very comfortable. Food was really good- both in the evening and breakfast. Good selection of real ales and wine.
Lovely venue and accommodation, ideally situated nearby to the waterfall. Food was lovely. Rooms were beautiful, beds comfortable, plenty of hot water. Having a mini fridge in the room was a really useful addition. We also appreciated the full tv facilities.
The main thing that let the experience down was that we found the staff to be quite unfriendly and not very helpful. Having booked a 7.30 dinner on our first evening we had to wait quite some time for the food as it was very busy. This wasn't an issue for us at all but it meant that by the time we'd been served and eaten our meal it was 9.12 and we were subsequently refused dessert because the order cut off is 9pm. Whilst I appreciate there needs to be a last orders time in place, the staff were very inflexible around this given that the delay was out of our hands. Generally over the whole weekend the staff were quite short with customers and not terribly hospitable at all, which surprised us for such a lovely venue with a great product offer
Le charme et l'authenticité de l'établissement
Le manque de place pour poser les valises
Location
Stunning location, historical pub, brilliant night with love music and lovely food.
Breakfast a bit haphazard, part was in one room, part in another, no plates for toast and had to track down knives and forks. It would be better if everything, including teas and coffees were in the separate room and organised in a line. I struggled to get water for my tea. Because of the height of the bar I couldn't use the urn and had to get my husband to do it. This isn't a reflection of the stay which was brilliant, just some feedback that I think would improve the service. X
Nice location, good beer, nice evening meal.
En suite was too small
The whole Inn is extremely cosy and very welcoming. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, we couldn't fault anything. We felt so relaxed that we decided to eat both our evening meals in the Inn, there is a very extensive and well priced menu. The food was excellent. We will definitely want stay again sometime soon.
The bedroom was a little small but it did have everything we needed and was very cosy and clean. Talking to the staff we found that for not much more money we could have had a bigger room. We'll consider that best time.
Great location. Food was excellent. Rooms were compact but well appointed
Rooms a little small and staff obviously under pressure.
Good dinner and breakfast menus. Excellent choice of hand-drawn beers. My friends from the USA were totally taken with the atmosphere and their rooms were what they had expected.
Parking was tricky. On-street parking virtually impossible, and there was building work going on next door during the day.
The location was picturesque, and ideal for walking. The room was a good size and the bed, and linen was very comfortable, feather pillows and duvet. Excellent selection of room services provided, even a coffee percolator. Huge TV and radiator, should they be needed. The menu was varied, our meals were very enjoyable and enough for Giant Haystacks 😄👍
Very little not to like, apart from the insulation between the bedrooms being a little too minimalistic.
The location, hospitality, weslendale cheese
charge for my dog, but there was a lovely doggy pack
Breakfast was hit and miss
Meals in the evenings were not too good
Great location, lovely old pub.
Very rude staff upon arrival, quite surprised, we've had an association with the Dragon for 17 years, seems to have changed somehow. Actually didn't stay, moved on to more agreeable premises.
Great, value for money.
Very attractive ancient and historic bars and dining rooms. Next to waterfall. On Pennine Way. Bedrooms recently refurbished to high spec. Open fires (lit at breakfast time!)
Bedrooms are small
It was quirky and traditional with nooks and cranny’s and candles on the tables. Old cast iron ranges and beams.
Only thing I can think of is the car park is quite small so we had to park on the road but as it’s a small village with little traffic it wasn’t really a problem.
A very warm welcome by all the staff, great food and real Ales. Located in a very scenic area, ideal for nice walks. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable
Location and heritage
Apartment was great, spacious and had everything you needed

This was such a luxurious stay with the most amazing bath and giant bed. Thank you!
Gezellig! Pub. Heel vriendelijk personeel. Goed ontbijt. Kamer was mooi qua kleuren op de muren. Diner was goed.
De kleine kamer. Moeite om koffers neer te zetten. Je loopt langs het bed tegen de tv aan.
Maten var engelsk och vällagad, puben magisk och omgivningen sagolik.

Breakfast was good if slightly limited
More choice of juices
Staffing levels were low. I rang the hotel 6 times over a course of 3 weeks and the phone was not answered once. Meal service was slow. Staff seemed lovely, just overwhelmed.
Location Old pub Good drink choice
Need to do something about the fly infestation Get some fly zappers around the pub Wasn’t nice to eat dinner (tea) or breakfast
Pub-hôtel très agréable dans un minuscule village. Personnel irréprochable. Equipement des chambres excellent. Restauration très correcte.
Chambres très bien équipées, mais très petites, le lit (excellent) prenant presque toute la place.
The friendliness of the staff and the food was excellent.
Just beautiful 13th century inn with a waterfall walk Ian our server was adorable and so helpful as were all the staff. Really dog friendly too.
Everything was perfect
Staff were efficient and welcoming, rooms well equipped.
Maybe bathroom tiles need to be cleaned properly at the grouting.
Very friendly welcome, great range of food and beers. Ideal location for the walks we had planned around Hawes
Amazing location, really clean high end rooms. Will stay again
Very convenient location. Fab accommodation, love the suite we stayed in, extremely comfortable bed. Like the quirkiness of the property with all the old in keeping items on display. Will definitely recommend!
Nothing to dislike about the property. Just so popular you might not be able to park in the car park.
Good range of beers.
Very small bedroom, mattresses uncomfortable for us. Bedroom and ensuited clean enough. 300 year old pub area and corridors etc could be bit cleaner.
Etwas harte Betten. Keine Garderobe für (nasse) Jacken. Kein Außensitz.

Characterful building, set in beautiful countryside, lovely walk from hotel to Hardraw Force waterfall. Enjoyed evening meal and breakfast.
Tiniest en-suite I’ve ever seen.
The room was very nice. The pub is olde world and very nice.
The place is comfortable but the service leaves a lot to be desired.
Relaxing retreat

Very comfortable.
Breakfast enjoyed with plenty of choice.
Excellent location
Beautiful property and surroundings, great food and drink, live music was amazing!
Nothing! Only suggestion maybe some thinner pillows as they were a bit thick for me 😂

What a beautiful pub in a beautiful village. Spent one night here before starting our walk to Tan Hill. Our room was lovely very comfortable, bathroom equally good. Wee welcome pack for the fur baby, dog friendly in bar and restaurant, dinner excellent….massive Yorkshire puds on our Sunday roast. Breakfast choices great and generous.

Location, historic building, the food, staff
Would be nice to have a ticket for the waterfall included in the price.
Room was immaculately clean and lovely view from the window. Great location and
A really relaxing place with beautiful surroundings along with great beer and food. Room 1 was perfect for us and our dog and had newly been refurbished.
Wonderful staff, great location and the food we had over our 2 day stay was supberb.
Dirty tea cup in room and the left over builders tonight bags on view from our room. They might be out of site for some, but not from our room window.
Loved the stone walls and beams, still a traditional looking pub. The rooms were quite modern and very clean.

Tolles Pub in Dales. Gemütliche Zimmer. Sehr gute Lage für Ausflüge. Aussergewöhnlich.
Great location. Good food.
Dogs in eating areas. Rooms are a little cramped.
Great twin room in the adjacent building—clean and spacious. Breakfast was included and had plenty of choices. The evening menu is extensive with several excellent vegetarian options. Highly recommend.
A fantastic hotel in the very heart of the dales, good food, especially the breakfast. On Wednesday nights there is an open folk night, led by the very Talented Jessie Cane.
Can't find anything to moan about, other than parking seemed to be a little limited, but that can only be expected with such a popular hotel
Excellent breakfast choice. Room was larger than expected and well decorated. staff were friendly. Loved the old bars.
Bathroom - two things. No shelf above sink to put toiletries. The shower base was slippery and could do with a mat. This is important as an injury from a fall could lead to a potential case against the owners. Parking was chaotic at times.
Fantastic ambiance - the pub really felt like a lovely oldy worldy pub - lots of lovely old features. Exceptional staff that made us feel really welcome and were able to help with any queries we had. Quiet room with a beautiful view and all the amenities we required (my husband absolutely loved the huge TV and the crazy number of channels to choose from!). Plenty of parking. Both dinner and breakfast were very good indeed, good honest pub food, tasty and very large portions - excellent value for money. Very small bedroom but fantastic views out the back.
The shower, toilet and basin were spotless, as were the bedlinen and towels but the rest of the bathroom needed a clean as there were some really grubby corners in the bathroom, particularly behind the bathroom door and around the shower sealant which you can't see unless you are in the bathroom with the door closed. This prevented us from scoring it a 10/10. The toilet seat slipped badly, no doubt because the bin had been placed between the wall and the toilet seat - so we moved the bin. We would definitely stay again (and we will!!) but would ask them to check the bathroom cleanliness first.
Lovely old character Inn . Staff were very friendly , good banter with the Australian barman and Shetlander chef ( sorry guys couldn’t resist ) . Great food . Lots to see around the area , great for motorcycling as some great passes and biker’s favourite the Tan Hill Inn close by ,

Check in 4pm check out 10am
The location was great, the room was clean and the bed comfy. The breakfast was delicious and catered for a wide range of tastes. We had an evening meal which was very good value and delicious.
The bedroom was too hot! We discovered at 3 in the morning that the heating was on, let alone the duvet being of a high tog rating. We did not sleep very well at all, as despite the windows being open, the room did not cool after we turned off the radiator. It might being sold as rustic charm but bar and breakfast rooms were grubby.
Wonderful Inn with a fantastic pub. We loved the area, and appreciated the space in our family room. We were traveling with 2 adults and 2 teenage children, and had a room with a queen bed and bunk beds. The room felt newly remodeled. The highlight for us was the pub - a wonderful dinner and breakfast there. So much charm and character.
Not related to the room, but the property also serves as the entrance for a short hike to a nice waterfall. Oddly, the trail is only open for a limited time each day, and we were disappointed to find it had closed by the time we arrived.
Spacious & restaurant food
The room - a suite- had comfy sofa and kettle/coffee etc which was great but no small tables to put your drinks on when relaxing. Local people were allowed to vape in the bar restaurant area and no staff tried to stop them.
Very nice mixture of old & new
Very poor wifi - much needed for walking apps, but and very helpful staff to get that sorted. However a place like this should have it set as a standard 🙌🏻 Pillows…4 humongous bed pillows, which do not suit most bodies…please have 2 slimmer to choose from.
You don’t have to go anywhere else anymore, breakfast, dinner, drinks all in one place with a great, ancient atmosphere. Rooms are comfortable and quite modern !
Great location. Friendly staff. Good food and a good breakfast. Treated myself to one of their ‘Suites’ for my 5 night stay.
Much bigger than I’d imagined. Very busy with residents and visitors. Well known. PARKING IS POOR. They share their carpark with Hardraw Force - first come first served. The Suite was luxurious looking and comfortable BUT I had no WIFI for 3 days despite reporting this on my first evening. My room wasn’t ’refreshed’ one day so I had no water, tea bags or biscuits. The first and only time I took a bath in the luxurious free standing bath (there’s a large shower too) it leaked and caused a flood in the downstairs bar! My stay was during the recent heatwave (most unusual for Yorkshire!) but despite this I could not turn off the radiator in the bathroom. The one window had a broken sash so I had to wedge it permanently open with a towel! All unacceptable when paying ‘top dollar’ The staff are all lovely and work so hard but I was left with the clear impression there are not enough of them for when it’s at full occupancy.
Super location and large well appointed rooms
The room was spacious and comfortable and although it was super hot outside, the stone walls of the building kept it cool inside. Beautiful view from the rear of the building. There's a fridge in the room and tea & coffee facilities too. Good smart TV which is hardwired so worked very well. Local country Pub food as expected large portions. Car park at the rear of the pub if you arrive early.
The WiFi did not work at all and the phone signal is really poor in this location too (not great when travelling for work!) (coffee was horrendous in the room but did not sample at breakfast) Tea was perfect and the room was stocked with bottled water. Breakfast first sitting is at 08:00 am so a bit late for people off to work but fine for holidays. Parking fills up fast but there's space on the lane
Location, food, room, live music, company, staff, beer all excellent
Nothing really, even the weather was good. Planning to visit again
Breakfast wonderful and generous. We had to request less second day. Dinner good choice for my husband. Pleased chef catered for my various dietary needs. Went above and beyond. Staff very friendly and helpful. Interesting guests from all over uk and europe. Quiet village in glorious scenery. Large room with comfy beds.
Can't think of anything
