Perfect Location, Breathtaking Views and a Wonderful Stay

I spent a weekend at the Belvedere during a business trip. The hotel is slightly removed from the bustle of McLeod Ganj, yet still very close to the town centre and to the Dalai Lama Temple complex. All of the common areas are very pleasant, and the rooms are equipped with everything needed for an excellent stay. The overall standard is high. The bathroom in particular was very well appointed, with both a whirlpool bathtub and a separate shower with excellent water pressure, which is not always the case when travelling. The restaurant is also very enjoyable, with a wide choice of dishes on the menu, and the service is both efficient and friendly. A special mention must go to the magnificent mountain views from the room. The housekeeping team was particularly attentive and responded to every request very quickly and efficiently. There is a genuine sense that the staff are committed to making guests feel comfortable and well looked after. The hotel is also continuing to invest in improvements and ongoing works, with the aim of offering an even more complete guest experience in the future. Overall, this is an excellent hotel in which to rest, recharge and explore everything McLeod Ganj has to offer.

Everything exceeded our expectations. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. Mr. Brath on the lobby is an excellent example of this.

I know this property is expanding to have a pool which I really missed. Management need to change payment tap for international cards NOT JUST LOCAL BANKS 🙏 This created quite a dilemma on departure 6 am today I also offered to pay last night and reception said it’s not a problem paying in the morning early Next time I will stand firm and pay night before when I have early departure and plane to catch. Driver was on time but had to wait 45 mins for a payment method to be acceptable. I was so distressed crying and worried my flight would not meet luggage drop off time I initially arranged driver way earlier than needed so I could be at airport super early but this plan turned bad

Personel fantastyczny. Niezwykle miły i pomocny. Widoki z tarasu przepiękne. Pokoje bardzo komfortowe. Jeden minus, w wannie nie działał hydromasaż, za tak wysoką cenę za pokój, tak nie powinno być.

The view from the room is good. Breakfast and dinner is ok, the taste can definitely improve.

Initially we were given a room in the grould floor and not cleaneed, so had to ask for a change. Basic items like towels etc need to be asked. The location is bit odd, requires 400-600 meters walk uphill

Breakfast was sumptuous.Many varieties and tasty. The room with the balcony was very comfortable with a beautiful view

One room had an additional small room which was not being used. That room had no window.. A window would have made the room more comfortable

There are constructions during the day. In some of the days it was noisy.

Overall a very good facility located close to the main attractions at McLeodganj.

Nice rooms, amazing breakfast

Lots of construction work going on.. and felt like it was set quite a way off the main tourist roads - probably felt further than it was because it was raining when we were there. Also despite our party taking 3 rooms at a considerable cost, the hotel really let itself down by not, despite being repeatedly asked and reassured that it would happen, allowing our mini bus driver who was to sleep in his van, to borrow a blanket from them as it was unseasonably cold. Their reason being that the driver had not provided ID to ensure the blanket was returned .. and yet the van was parked outside their premises and we would undertake to ensure it was returned. This lack of generosity spoiled our experience unfortunately, not to mention having to drive home with a driver lacking in sleep on difficult terrain.

לחדר שלנו הייתה מרפסת להפתעתנו גילנו כשלושה קופים במירפסת שאחד מהם נירה תוקפן, רצוי מאוד לא להשאיר את הדלת למרפסת פתוחה, אחרת אני לא מתאר לעצמי מה יכול להיות. חבל שאין לפחות דלת עם רשת שלא בטוח שהייתה עוזרת לקוף נחוש. אנחנו השארו כל הזמן סגור ודיי התרגלנו המזגן הייה טוב. כדאי לשאול עלויות של כל דבר לפני שמזמינים, אנחנו הזמנו שירות כביסה של כמות יחסית לא גדולה ולהפתעתנו גילינו שהמחיר היה חריג ביחס לאיזור כ 60שקל. בחוץ המחירים זולים משמעותית קילו כביסה מתחיל ב 150רופי.

The location was great. Very central but still very quiet and the views from our bedroom were amazing! The reception staff were all very friendly, and a special mention to the lovely lady in housekeeping who had our laundry turned around on the same day. Thank you 🌞

The coffee could have been better, a French Press option would have been welcome.

Heel vriendelijk en hulpvaardig personeel. Daardoor een fijn verblijf gehad. Ook mooie kamer, goed eten en een mooi uitzicht op de bergen. Goed georganiseerd.

Antenne relais a quelques mètres de la structure, j'avais demandé - par écrit - s'il y en avait une, la réponse avait été "non". Grosse, grosse erreur... Hôtel en construction: poussière et bruits de chantier. Aucun geste commercial (j'ai dormi ailleurs les deux dernières nuits tellement le champs électromagnétique provenant des antennes relais était fort: aucun geste commercial de la part de la chaîne).

Une énorme antenne relais, remplie d'antennes 4 et 5G à quelques mètres de la structure! Impossible de dormir tant le champs électromagnétique était fort: et j'avais demandé par écrit à la structure si cette dernière était loin des antennes, la réponse avait été "Oui!". Erreur inadmissible pour un établissement de ce prix. Aucun geste commercial de la part du gérant de la chaîne hôtelière. Qui plus est l'hôtel était en travaux: donc foto trompeuse sur le site de booking, poussière et bruit de travaux pendant tout le séjour.

L'hôtel, de bon standing pour l'Inde, avec chauffage (air soufflé) qui fonctionne à un personnel compétant et charmant.

La structure est à côté d'une énorme antenne relais: le champs électromagnétique sur les terrasses est insoutenable, il envahit la salle à manger (l'antenne est à un jet de pierre) et les chambres, même celles du bas: donc sommeil perturbé, voire fortement altéré. J'avais posé la question et il m'avait été répondu qu'aucune antenne ne se trouvait à proximité. Qui plus est l'hôtel, cher pour l'Inde, était en construction lors de notre séjour (une semaine de bruit de chantier, de poussière dans les chambres etc.). Nous n'avions pas été prévenu. Ne vous attendez à aucun geste commercial de cette chaine d'hôtel.

Was a little tricky to find

The view is breathtaking. Every single staff was kind and eager to help. We want to mention the staff in the restaurant who was very attentive to my husband who needed help at the breakfast buffet.

A concierge service would have been able to assist with flight tickets. Our Superior Room with balcony was very comfortable, the view amazing, but unfortunately not enough space for comfortable seating.

Vicinissimo al Tempio di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama. Staff molto gentile. Tutto nuovo e dunque pulito e funziona.

Die Zimmer sind in einem neuwertigen Zustand und hervorragend ausgestattet, ergänzt durch einen erstklassigen Service (täglich kostenfreies Wasser und Tee). Die Betten boten einen hohen Schlafkomfort, und das Frühstücksbuffet überzeugte durch seine Vielfalt und Reichhaltigkeit. Darüber hinaus wurden auch individuelle Wünsche berücksichtigt. Auch im Winter sehr angenehm zu temperierende Zimmer. Danke für das kostenlose Zimmerupgrade!

The Belvedere is a gem of a hotel! It is beautiful, comfortable and a 6 star experience. I loved my stay here. The room was beautiful, clean and warm. A lovely bed and a good night's sleep and the Staff are all welcoming, helpful and polite. I would definitely stay here again. The Location is good, walking distance to the cable car and The Dalai Lama Temple.

The hotel is located behind another hotel with splendid sceneries. Breakfast was excellent. You can preorder some mains which were very delicious. There is a shortcut to Dalai Lama temple; just few minutes. But it's quite steep and not for everyone. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Once you ha e found the hotel, (it is hidden and poorly sign posted) it is actually in a good location.

If paying by non-Indian bank card, they insist you pay in your home currency, at their exchange rate, which they admitted was more expensive than paying in INR by at least 6% - or you can pay cash, which means multiple trips to a cash machine. Effectively if a foreign card you have to pay an additional 6-10% for your stay. The bed and pillows were also the hardest we experienced in our month long trip...

Food not good value for money

Fantastic stay! The location is breathtaking, the scenery, and the staff cannot do enough to help you and to give you the best possible stay. Mrs Tsering in particular went above and beyond on multiple occasions to support especially when we found out our flights were cancelled and we needed a last minute stay. Would love to come back to see more of Dharamshala and when I do I will be hands down staying here!

The hotel is in a very good location. The way to the markets is very short, as is the way to the Temple of the Dalai Lama. The staff is very welcoming and very helpful - Tsering also did her very best as well as all the staff to make the stay as pleasant as possible. Feel free to help with any questions. The breakfast and food in the restaurant were very good.

The hotel provides exceptional level of service. The room was well equipped and the level of mainatenance is fantastic, things are confortable and just work. I had a room with a balcony, and the view was exciting. The hotel staff is polite and helpful. They helped me to book a taxi to and from airport. The breakfast was tasty. The laundry service ordered was effiicent. Easy to get to the very center of McLeod, to the Temple and to the ropeway station from there. I liked my stay a lot.

The only thing is with the payment: the hotel didn't charge me via credit card in local currency (INR), but instead converted the charge into my local currncy - I lost 4-5% in this conversion. Perhaps the payment technology is not great, but in ropeway station in McLeod there was no issue with charging directly in INR.

All the staff, both at the reception and in the restaurant, were incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel’s location is excellent, just a short walk from the Dalai Lama Temple, which makes it perfect for exploring the area. The view from my room overlooking the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel restaurant serves very tasty food, and the bar offers a wide selection of drinks at very reasonable prices. I highly recommend this place for its warm hospitality, great food, and stunning views.

We stayed for 5 nights at this charming hotel in the village of McLeod Ganj. The room was cozy, clean and luxurious. The shower was perfect. The food was delicious, varied and excellent. The view was stunning and above all, the staff was pleasant, welcoming and met all our needs. We are grateful to the hotel staff and management for the hospitality 🙏♥️

We really liked the area, it's close enough to the main market but without the noise. It has a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff was warm and welcoming! We would definitely go again!

Good location for a stay in McLeod Ganj. We had a view looking over the mountains which was spectacular. Rooms were comfortable and the hotel is just a very short walk into the main town and the Dalai Lama Temple. The food in the hotel was very good and a particular shout out for ‘Rajiv’ and his team who looked after our family extremely well. He even took change out of his own pocket for us on departure as the hotel were unable to provide the correct amount. We wish him all the best for his upcoming wedding.

Significant building work was going on which was very noisy on our arrival to our room but the hotel did address this to make sure we were not impacted too much.

Right in centre of town 5 min walk away from Dalai Lama Temple, but also quiet with stunning views ....Clean & Modern

I was debating if to give it 4 or 5 star and ended up giving it a 4 star. I have to say that all was perfect except the room that we got. It was right next to the reception (room 402). I booked a room with a view and got a room with a partial view which most was trees and a building and on the left side we could see the beautiful views. I chose this hotel by the reviews and the beautiful views they offered. I was very disappointed and unhappy with the room we got and I mentioned it to the receptionist. When we checked in and saw the room, we asked if we can move to a different room but was told it was fully booked. On our 3rd day, I saw again the same receptionist and mentioned again how disappointed I was with our room and he told me that if I want to switch, he can give us a better room but it didn’t matter any more because we were there for 4 days 4 nights. On our last day, it was mentioned to me that there were only 3 or 4 totally rooms booed at the hotel so I went back to the reception and told him that I really don’t understand why we couldn’t be moved and he told me that the manager will reach out to me. Which she never did. So if you want a room with a view, I would not recommend room 402.

Lovely people in a great location in town. Great facilities like the panoramic dining room with great food. Rooms very comfortable though request an out facing one in you want to see the hills- they gave us a choice when we arrived.

Very good location

We had the most comfortable and wonderful stay at the hotel. We were there for His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday celebration. The location was perfect—close to the main temple—with an amazing view from our room. The room was bright and modern, making it easy to relax without feeling pressure to go out. The food at the hotel was delicious, and the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful in every way. The next time we visit Dharamshala, we are definitely staying here again!
