Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It was a quirky property in a very good location. The property itself had a lot of charm.
There was only one bathroom on the ground floor and the stairs down to it were quite challenging.
A tasteful, comfortable but sparingly appointed and characterful apartment right in the heart of the Old Town. Walkable from central station and short walks around city centre and ferries to museums etc. Friendly, helpful host.
It is unavoidable that it overlooks a busy, touristy street but the noise is really only during the day and early evening.
Its location is wonderful and the apartment is full of charm and is comfortable.
The grouting in the shower needs a bit of attention as does the shower curtain which is heavily stained. It was a bit off putting initially.
Location
Needs to be cleaned better as it was dirty in livingroom
Great location, property nice but basic although had almost everything we needed. Only thing we missed slightly was a TV set.
Unfortunately too bright overnight, blind for the bedroom and doors to shut, but light from kitchen area still illuminated the room via the hatchway.
Die Lage und die Anzahl der Zimmer
Die Wohnung beginnt im 2. Stock! Die 2. Treppe ist eine Herausforderung. Es gibt ein Bad mit Toilette im 2. Stock, die Schlafzimmer sind im 3. und 4. Stock. Die Treppe in den 3. Stock ist abenteuerlich, total verbaut und nachts gefährlich. Zum 4. Stock gibt es nur eine offene Treppe, keine Türe mehr.
Location
Really interesting and beautiful house. Very close to metro and restaurants / bars
Unieke locatie in Gamla Stan.
Perfect location, exquisite atmosphere.
Noise, which is inevitably since it’s in the heart of the old town.
It was very clean and within the centre of very cool restaurants and attractions.
There wasn’t much communication about which flat we would have been booked in. It was street level and very noisy with street visibility into the apartment. The street was beautiful and very touristy (great to be out and very accessible, frustrating because night tours began in front of the flat + photographers outside our door with flowering trees close by at every moment. For the cost of what we paid and the foot traffic at the bottom- street level flat, not worth the price for the noise and commotion.
Nagyon jó helyen van a szállás. Hangulatos. Tiszta és kényelmes.
Az ablakokon nincs függöny. Ha azt akarjuk, hogy ne lássanak be, le kell húzni a sötétítőt. Az utca nagyon zajos este 11-ig.
Location was fantastic
The stairs were a bit tricky. Rather steep and with the bathroom downstairs was somewhat challenging for an older person.
Geweldige locatie en heel bijzonder en mooi ingericht appartement.
Helemaal niets.
Beautiful apartment that was cosy and have everything we needed. Location was perfect too!
Nothing.
Helt amazing!
The apartment is beautiful, and we felt very comfortable there during out three day stay. Getting the keys was simple enough. We loved our small break and would stay again at the apartment if given the chance.
Finding difficult to mention something that we didn't like. Maybe, just maybe, a plushier sofa?
Идеальное расположение в самом сердце старого города. Аппартаменты укомплектованы всем необходимым, было очень тепло и комфортно.
Otroligt charmig lägenhet. Gott om plats, perfekt läge. Lugnt och skönt. Man känner sig hemma. Perfekt för en familj.
Great location. Charming house and apartment. Beautiful!
The bathroom is very small and the shower curtain is dirty and should be changed. Also, no curtains in the living room so neighbours can see right into the apartment. Also, there’s a hole from the bedroom to the kitchen. And no curtains in the kitchen. So it gets bright in the bedroom. Not so good for sleep quality.
De locatie is uniek. Midden in de oude stad.
So central, beautiful decor.
No blinds in the living room
Lovely old building in the heart of the old town, spacious rooms, comfortable bed, shampoo, body wash and hairdryer. Powerful hot shower.
Nothing
Great central location, in an historic C1500 building. We really loved being so close to everything we needed… the ferry to Vaxholm and other islands, the bus stop to Hellasgården and a good selection of restaurants all within a short walk. The shower was lovely and hot. Henrik was very responsive to communication and very kindly allowed us to check out slightly later which made such a difference to our last day.
We liked everything!
Spacious, clean, and in a very convenient location, this attractive and comfortable apartment had everything we needed for an enjoyable 3 day stay in Stockholm’s Gamla Stan. The hosts were also very helpful.
Excellent location to see the old parts of Stockholm. Comfortable beds and nice linens. Fully stocked kitchen. Decent sized bathroom and bedrooms, two living areas.
It’s been mentioned in other reviews about the doorframes being so low, but with my husband and two sons measuring 6’1”, 6’2”, and 6’5”, there was quite a lot of bumping heads into the door frames. It would be a good idea to put some padding at the top of the doorway leading into the main floor. The circular stairs to each floor are a challenge, but typical for these types of European apartments. An outlet in the bathroom would be nice, or maybe an extension cord to plug things into the outlet outside of the door so you’re able to use the mirror in the bathroom.
Location of the property, loads of space to use and a great speaker to hook up too
Could have been a little cleaner notably in the shower
Our stay at The Architects’ House was an absolute delight from start to finish. Henrik is one of those rare hosts who combines genuine warmth, professionalism, and an eye for detail that makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. Communication was seamless—every message was answered quickly and with kindness. We arrived early in the morning after a long flight, and Henrik went out of his way to make sure the apartment was ready for us by 9 a.m. His welcome message was so thoughtful and clear that check-in felt effortless. The apartment itself is stunning—full of character, beautifully designed, and steeped in history. You can feel the soul of Stockholm in every detail. The location couldn’t be better: right in the heart of Gamla Stan, on a quiet, picturesque street, steps away from the subway and the old town’s best cafés and restaurants. Small touches made all the difference—a bottle of wine waiting for us, fresh towels delivered with care, and the cozy atmosphere that made us feel like true locals. Even when a small issue came up with the hair dryer, Henrik’s immediate and gracious response reminded us how much he values his guests’ comfort. We left with great memories and the certainty that we’ll be back. Thank you, Henrik, for making our Stockholm visit unforgettable. Warmly, Roland Abou Younes
First of all, the owner's communication is very good! And the apartments themselves are simply wonderful, cozy, stylish and perfectly fit into the look of the old town. For this price - the best choice in Gamla Stan
Nothing, all perfect
Een mooie, centrale plek in stockholm, mijn appartement was ruim en zeer mooi, compleet en sfeervol ingericht. Goed ingerichte keuken, met afwasmachine en oven.
Location. Friendly host
The location was perfect, the communication with the owners was efficient and kind. it was authentic simple and genuine. We liked that it had been in the family for so long and was still being cared for. It was lovely but doesn’t look like the photos which must have been taken in the top apartment with more light. The owners were very helpful letting us leave our luggage safely until our ferry out of Stockholm.
The tray in the oven wasn’t very clean, the sofa wasn’t comfortable - it was made of plywood and felt very cheap, the ‘cupboard’ for the washing machine was shoddy.
great spot in the centre. beautiful old house very nice decorated The host was very nice and fast in replying
it was a bit noisy but I'm a light sleeper
De locatie in het hart van Gamla Stan, de authentieke van de accomodatie en de sfeer die het creëert!
Eigenlijk was alles in orde!
We had a wonderful experience staying at this rental and would absolutely return. This was our first visit to Stockholm—traveling as a group of three (my mother, my aunt, and myself)—and the apartment’s location in the heart of Gamla Stan exceeded our expectations. While we had planned to visit Gamla Stan as a must-see attraction, staying directly in this historic neighborhood made our experience even more memorable. The apartment is tucked away down a quiet alley, offering peace and privacy despite being right in the center of a lively, bustling area filled with shops and restaurants. The location was ideal for exploring the rest of the city. We primarily used Uber to get around due to mobility considerations for my mom and aunt, and nothing was more than 15–20 minutes away, even with traffic. If not for those limitations, the city would have been very walkable from this base. The apartment itself was exceptional—charming, spacious, and full of character. You can truly feel the history of the building through its original features, including stone floors and classic wood-and-glass windows. The first floor featured a large dining area that comfortably seats 6–8 people, along with a cozy sitting area, an electric piano, and a well-equipped kitchen stocked with everything needed, including a coffee setup and full cookware. The bathroom was modern and spacious, with generous counter space, a washer/dryer combo, and a large stone shower with its own window and built-in shelves. Upstairs, there was another lounge area with seating and a TV, two large bedrooms, and a loft with a bed—where I slept, and found it both fun and comfortable. Our host was gracious and communicative throughout the stay. Instructions were clear, and at checkout, we appreciated the flexibility to leave our luggage in the entrance hallway for a few hours before heading to the airport. As the host manages the entire building, we felt comfortable and secure doing so. Incredible experience.
There was truly nothing we disliked about our stay, but we do want to share a few notes that may be helpful for future guests: The apartment has three spiral staircases leading up to the second-floor bedrooms and an additional staircase to access the loft. These stairs are steep and can be a bit challenging to navigate, especially for those with limited mobility. My mother and aunt took extra time and care moving between levels, and I found it a bit difficult to carry heavier luggage up and down. The 3rd spiral staircase to the bedroom requires you to duck at the top due to low clearance, and there are limited handholds for stability in that spot. Additionally, as the apartment is located in the heart of Gamla Stan, there are car restrictions in the area. We were dropped off about 250 meters from the apartment and had to walk the rest of the way. The route is through charming but uneven cobblestone streets, which made transporting large suitcases somewhat difficult. This is typical for accommodations in this historic district, and something to keep in mind when planning your arrival and departure. These are both items to consider for mobility issues. That being said - the apartment and area itself far outweighed these potential challenges. All of us agreed we would stay again. It just took a little extra time and care - and was more than well worth it. 10/10.
Great shower and bathroom
The pictures were not accurate not enough light stairs not accurately described Side of cabinet falling off
A lovely apartment in a 400-year old house, with charm to match. Perfectly located in central Stockholm, right in the heart of Gamla Stan, within walking distance to Södermalm and Östermalm. There’s also excellent public transport, with both a subway station and a boat pier nearby, making it easy to reach other parts of Stockholm or the archipelago. It’s a simple apartment, but more than adequate for a week’s stay to explore the city and go sightseeing. All major attractions are within walking distance from Gamla Stan. I fully recommend this place.
The apartment had a washing machine with a dryer, but the drying function didn’t work particularly well. A bit disappointing, as there wasn’t a proper way to hang clothes either. Still, just being able to wash some clothes after a week of traveling was worth its weight in gold.
True to the description as architects' house, it's basic, experimental and unfinished, architects are always on a tight budget. Location is superb. The pictures posted were for other apartment.
On the first day, the bathroom had foul smell of sewer, probably due to vacant days prior. With use, the smell disappeared. Cook top was not easy to use. Coffee mugs would be great too.
Central location, beautiful historic property, peacefulness of apartment, comfortable beds and linen, spaciousness of apartment, five minute walk to supermarkets, bars, restaurants and transport stations, fully equipped kitchen, large bathroom, communication of landlord 5 star.
The apartment is in the middle of Gamla Stan - an easy to walk to local sites, and to go further afield with a subway and ferry stop nearby. There’s also a small grocery store down the street which makes it easy to stock up on groceries. Despite being in the middle of everything it’s incredibly quiet. And the bed is extremely comfortable. It was a great place to recover from jet lag and easily start getting to know the city from. We stayed there for the first 10 days of our trip and were sad to leave our little “home”. We missed it when we came back to Stockholm for a couple of days before returning home. The hosts are very kind and pretty instantly accessible if you have any questions or need help with anything. They went above and beyond what I would expect.
My only suggestion about how the apartment could be improved is to have a more comfortable sitting area (couch and chair). I know this is an individual preference, but we found we didn’t use that area much because of it. Also, because of the nature of having an apartment in an old building, the bathroom is tight. The shower is a bit awkward and the floor a little slippery, but everything is functional with good water pressure and temperature. I only note this, not because it’s a problem, but just to be aware of the setup.
A few more comfy chairs for seating would be great as the property can sleep 6 and really only had enough comfy chairs for 2/3.
The apartment was great - authentic, clean, there's everything you might need for a short stay. It's situated in the heart of Gamla Stan, so we could reach everything we wanted there easily.
The windows to our apartment turn to the busy street of Gamla Stan and there's the bar on that street, so for a light sleeper like me, it was quite noisy. It would have been great to know that one might need the earplugs. And the apartment was relatively cold...
Design & safety
One morning there was no hot water
Everything was great!!!
If you’re tall, be careful with the doors, some of them are low and you might hit your head.
Location near my daughter’s student accommodation. Beautiful apartment. Fresh. New. Clean.
Haven’t found anything yet!
Staying this house was one of the highlights of our stay in Sweden. It is in an extremely great location in the centre of the Old Town. You have to be prepared that there is lots of hustle and bustle outside at all hours, we were comfortable with it. The design is wonderfully evocative and relaxing.
As Brits, we missed a kettle for tea, but we made good use of the pour-over coffee pot as an alternative. You need to be mobile and steady on your feet to use the staircase.
This historical apartment is very spacious and the location is amazing.
The staircase up to the apartment is steep. Something to keep in mind if you have heavy/bulky suitcases.
No Televison or Internet
The property is ideally located one street back from the main restaurant strip in old town (Gamla Stan) and a stone’s throw from Gamla San metro (T) station, the ferry (Slussen departure over to the museum island), the palace, the shopping strip at T-Centrale and so on. In addition to being an amazing location, the apartment is on the ground floor so no dragging suitcases up flights of stairs. It has a large bedroom and comfortable bed, a good-sized living area with table and a daybed type sofa, a very functional kitchen, and a good sized bathroom. A shower with endless hot water and a washing machine round out the positives. Oh, and our hosts were exceptionally responsive and helpful.
With every centrally-located apartment comes the noisy crowds. Fortunately the noise ceased around 9.30-10.00pm each night. We slept very well.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at the apartment, which is located in a centuries-old private house in the heart of Gamla stan. The location is unbeatable for exploring Stockholm and you can easily walk to key places of interest. The apartment is spacious, pristinely clean and stylishly decorated. The bed is comfortable, the kitchen has all you need for cooking and the shower has good water pressure. Henrik and Lotte are nice hosts, very attentive and caring and easy to communicate with. We would love to return!
Absolutely fantastic location right in the heart of the old town. Listening to the church chiming in the morning and looking out at the gothic architecture was lovely. Clean, beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean with excellent shower and plenty of hot water. Loved all the decor, the quirks and the features.
Only one thing - the stairs!!!
Gorgeous building in the old town, very comfortable beds, lovely hot shower and amenities like a washing machine. The owners Henrik and Lotte were great to deal with and accommodated our requests when we needed to check in after midnight and also leave our luggage there after checkout. I would highly recommend staying here for an authentic experience.
The stairs were somewhat perilous to manage carrying heavy suitcases. We were aware that it was located on the second floor, but the loft bedroom has an additional two floors of staircase to climb which was a workout.
Really like this property, which is connected through a spiral staircase in an old building in Gamlestan. The experience was excellent. The beds were very comfy however, the spiral staircase did require attention to avoid sliding on it. It was very warm and very cozy close to a lot of restaurants and activity right next to the Royal Palace and the Noble museum.
I don’t really like spiral staircases.
Fantastic location in the heart of the old town. Period accommodation, on an historic street but very quiet and peaceful. Next to St Gertrude German Church, a landmark visible from across the city and just a few minutes direct walk from Gama stan metro (don’t follow Google maps!). The apartment has everything you need.
Great apartment with lots of room.
A bit noisy at night when we had the window open to cool the place.
An amazing property. An ancient building in a prime location, tastefully furnished and decorated.
It's on a lively street, so there is of course a bit of noise sometimes.
A lovely flat in an excellent location. Well appointed, everything we needed for basic self-catering. Right in the centre of Gamla Stan, outlook over one of the busy, touristy streets but with entrance off a quiet, secluded lane. The double glazed windows kept the bustle of the street out effectively, and it was quiet at night.
A blind on the shower-room window would be an improvement. Also the ailty to fix the front windows in a slightly open position for ventilation would help.
Good lokation with zentral placed
No option to make the room dark.
Beautiful space in a great location in the old town in Stockholm. It was quiet despite the inner location. Henrik was so helpful and the communication was excellent. I definitely will stay again.
Nothing..i loved it!
