It was ideal for my requirements of a accommodation only. Good value and comfy.
I love the common room, feels like you could have a post-wedding party here or something. It was all kinda retro style and literally a barn, but many rooms and super clean. I loved staying there. Saw some deer in the garden too, that was just magical.
Nothing, everything was super good! Bathrooms are separate and shared but were super clean so I have no complaints.
This is a very unusual place to stay. It is a converted barn to very high standards. There is great attention to detail and the place has a wonderful ambience. Shirley is an excellent hostess. She couldn't have been more helpful. I wouldn't have the slightest hesitatation in booking a restay.
I knew before I went there that it was a shared shower room and bathroom. This isn't something I like in rented accommdation. But in all honesty, it wasn't an issue. The standard of finish and cleanliness in both was impeccable.
Beautiful spacious room and very helpful service.

Logement propre, hôte accueillante . Je recommande

The Hosts are lovely people, warm and friendly. The room was clean and a good size, and the communal areas are great as well.
Hosts were friendly
Expensive for what you got. Communal toilets communal showers. Shared kettle /kitchen.
Ideal and close to Portarlington. So quiet and beautiful scenery. The Outback is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Birds flying over us while watching tv
Wasn’t sure if main door locked or not, was not 100% comfortable as I was right inside the door.
Very lively place to stay. The uniqueness of it attracted me to the place. Owners are so friendly, the rooms are very comfortable also. Very happy with my experience. The price made the place even better!
Nothing. I was delighted, especially with the price.
Ideal for my needs ,the outback room would be absolutely ideal for a group of friends to have a lovely social evening
Nothing
Very comfy bed.
The approach roads from Northern direction are very bumpy, drive slow!
Very nice place to stay . Excellent Showers. Very clean
Wonderful hosts and accomendation! Very special - defo coming back❤️
Nette Gastgeber
Dunkles Zimmer am Dachboden- sehr heiß, nur 1 Fenster in einer überdachte Lounge wo geraucht und fernsehen wurde, dadurch stinkt nach Zigarettenrauch und man hörte alles,
Very relaxed place with nice owners. No fuss and peaceful and comfortable stay in a nice setting.
N/a. Was as described when booking.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely and clean.
Very well maintained and well managed
Something different , comfortable and spacious rooms
How accommodating the owner was even though we were so late checking in. Excellent facilities and brilliant value for money
Nothing
The owners genuinely couldn’t have done enough for us on our short stay, super friendly people. Excellent social area to relax in too. Would 100% recommend to anyone.
Everything!
That i couldn't stay longer 😁
Place is unique and in a remote quiet location.
Could be nice to get at least continental breakfast.
It wa svery peaceful there and the way its set up makes you feel very comfortable & relaxed

Quirky
great rural location (you can hear the birds) yet still close to Portarlington and Portlaoise. Very nice rooms - very good communal areas.
Perhaps a sink in the communal area to allow to clean after using the mini kitchen area. and a hair dryer. but generally a lovely place
A fabulous find in the location, would be a great spot to relax and unwind.
Location
A very clean room with a double and a single no ensuite and great value for money. Showers are communal in the showroom room they were very good and we were provided with clean towels.
It was freezing cold, not one bit of heat in it. Didn’t even stay there waste of money.
We have stayed a number of times at the Barn Lodge when visiting family in Portlaoise. The Barn is quirky but in a good way. The rooms are spacious and clean. Comfortable beds. The prices are competitive, and the staff are helpful. I have no doubt we will stay here again.
It's not a dislike, but the rooms don't have a bathroom. Showers and bathrooms are only seconds from the bedroom.
Clean comfortable bed warm
Shared bathroom
This is the second time we have stayed in the Barn Lodge. The rooms are spacious and clean and comfortable. Tea/coffee dock .good parking and the staff are friendly and helpful. prices are very competitive.
Shared bathroom isn't really an issue. but I guess not to everyone's liking. The wooden staircase is very noisy if you don't want to disturb other guests.
Pleasant owners. Interesting place in a countryside. Nice decorations and atmosphere. Window with a view into garden. Clean. Warm. Kettle, coffe, milk, biscuits to start a nice morning. Thank you.
You hear absolutely everything incl. typing on laptop. Very thin walls, so your privacy depends on your neighbours.
Everything about this facility I liked. I couldn't fault on anything.
If you could get a breakfast I would like it even more but that's food for thought for another day.
The owner was exceptionally good. accommodated being a bit early. Not quite your normal B & B .It's clean a but quirky in a good way. Definitely would stop again.
We had no shower or bathroom but it was next to the room. not that much of an issue.
Very beautiful property. Totally worth the price
I guess it's a little quirky at first, sensor lights coming on along the hall and in the bathroom etc. but I'd a fantastic stay here. There's something very charming about it and the bed was so comfortable. Will definitely stay again.
Very small suggestion (not a complaint) Add something to the back of the floor of the shower to direct water in the shower down the drain. 6 large soft pillows was generous, I would have liked one firm pillow but that's just a preference thing.
Bed was comfortable.
Shared showers downstairs. Only one toilet between 4 or 5 bedrooms upstairs. Shared tea/coffee facilities. No option of having breakfast provided and lack of facilities to prepare breakfast. Walls between rooms extremely thin.
Didn't have breakfast
Not having toilet in room

Setting and the friendly service
What an amazing place. The man who lived in the mobile there was so nice to us. We stayed for a weekend in which i was gone from 9 till 7 playing in a footgolf tournament he told me if my fiancee wanted anything down town he would bring her or if she wanted to go for lunch. He was such a nice person. We also met the woman who owned the place she was so nice to. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in or around that area. I will be staying there next year for the same footgolf tournament 🙂🙂
It was an amazing stay, highly recommend.

Room was beautiful and so quite. Staff very helpful.
Stairs was very noise when anyone was on them.
Very friendly and helpful staff and owners ...
Quaint. Staff very helpful, facilities basic but fine.
Shared toilets. A bit remote, but that could also be a positive!
Nice and quiet
No hot water one evening and also could not get TV operating
Peaceful
Clean quiet comfortable
No brekkie
It was quite close to Tullamore. It was clean. Parking was convenient. Hostess was very pleasant and organised. We got super directions and pre arrival details. Beds were comfortable.
Very short timed light in the bathroom. No mirror in the bedroom. Not enough cups at the tea station.
Martin and Shirley were very friendly hosts. The Barn Lodge is a very relaxed place to stay. And it was great value.
Perfect for Forestfest and hosts very helpful
Very easy check in and a lovely room with the most comfortable bed, will definitely stay here again.

Fourth time staying here for work and still never disappoints. Great location,WiFi is never slow, clean rooms and facilities, and late check-in for me was no issue, which i can not appreciate enough. On my 2nd night, I came back to toiletry care package and fresh towels, which i appreciated so much. Martin and Shirley are always so friendly and welcoming. I'm already looking forward to my next business trip, and I know exactly where I'll be booking.
Wifi was good, Beds were comfy. The place was clean. It was great value for money. Staff were friendly. Tea making facilities were good. We just liked the place. Good luck with it.
The only thing that compromised our stay was the isolated location. Taxi companies weren't interested in collecting us from the location. One other thing, when it rains, there is a dripping noise outside. This could probably be rectified.
Absolutely great place. Loved our stay. Quiet place and just beautiful in everyday possible. We recommend it to a lot of our friends and family ad it was only minutes away from our event that afternoon and was just so peaceful.
It was in a lovely area
The parking was very tight and was difficult to park … but I got great help from Martin so thank u 👍
Clean & friendly staff
Stayed two nights at the barn Lodge, excellent location for me as I was working only 15 mins away. Bedroom was very clean aswel as the facilities, and a QR code for local takeaways was available... I was accommodated with a late check in which I really appreciated. Shirley was very friendly and answered all my questions. Looking forward to satying again.
Super little hide away for a small party . Lovely staff
Was a little noisy from a few late arrivals but still super venue .
If you are looking for something quirky and different this is the place. Martin and Shirley were very helpful. To be honest I was presently surprised. Very good value for money. Great as a stop off for Dublin if you wanted something different
Everything! A very pleasant atmosphere, the owner was so helpful and friendly, little touches likea nook to make tea/coffee made such a difference.
Just a little remote but that is part ofthe charm! Sat Nav directed us to the door.
Quiet peaceful and comfortable stay Hospitable and helpful hosts
Very clean and very well done, we were made welcome from the moment we arrived, it's unique and different and would definitely be visiting again
It was a unique stay, very peaceful setting
It was noisy, I couldn't sleep most of the night because rain was falling on a metal sheet outside, there was a constant drip noise.
