Staff in the morning for breakfast were great

guy at check in was not so helpful, rooms tired, not too clean, bar area/restaurant very tired and dirty. We were in a ground floor room, it smelled of damp/mould

There was a weird smell throughout the hotel and rooms but it did go after a while. Outdated but it was fine for our stay.

Location ideal for GNR, towels were lovely, staff were accommodating. Room was basic, but can’t complain

The rooms were very basic, with no USB charge sockets and two very distanced sockets (was okay for me on my own, but a couple couldn't both charge their devices without the devices being at opposite ends of the room. I understand surge pricing for the GNR, but £150+ was a little pricey for the facilities in the room

Had to request to move room as it smelt of fags Booked way in advance with a baby and they put us upstairs without a lift The bath was grimy and bedding was stained on the next room and very off colour / yellow white

The bed was comfy staff was friendly it was central for what we needed. Free parking which was good.

The carpets needed a clean our room had a strange smell in it like mouldy stale smell so we opened the windows and it went after half an hour. Not sure if it had a lift we didn’t see one carrying cases up 3 flights.

Like the room enough space to walk around and the bath room was ok

The bed felt lumpy but it was the mattress protector it was to small for the bed also the pillows need pillow protectors I notice one of the pillows had yellow stains.

Ideal location

The staff are very helpful and friendly, breakfasts are freshly cooked on demand (they're the best I've had because of that). The hotel is very quiet despite being near the A1M (perfect location and easy to find). Plenty of car parking.

It needs a refurbishment (I think that's happening in the next year).

The lady on reception was friendly.

The whole place is run down, the doors to the rooms are battered and the room was tiny and just awful, wasnt clean, seen better days. There was strange people wandering the corridors and noise from the other rooms. It was a last minute booking for my husband and son, he couldnt stay there so we had to find an alternative so lost the money paid, we checked reviews before arrival and they seemed quite ok, it wasnt.. costly lesson learned.. some people may like it but it wasnt for us..

For a low cost overnight stay this met my expectations. Check-in staff were pleasant and efficient, the room was comfortable, location was ideal for my needs and free onsite parking. Of course the hotel is a bit dated but for the price I paid, and the purpose I needed (just a bed for the night) I was very happy.

Car park was a little untidy with some litter, but that didn't impact my visit in any way.

The reception staff was amazing was as helpful as they was able to. The housecleaning ladies/men who do the hotel rooms was amazing I left a note on 2 hotel room doors and they took them and was able to do what I asked. I was so happy and greatful me friend loved it

The Staff were very polite, respectful and friendly, front area was clean and tidy.

The room itself, bathroom smelled musty, only one socket in the bedroom which was upside down and not connected so had to charge my phone in the hallway ( not ideal ) the coffee facilities only had two sachets of coffee, also couldn’t open a window even though I was on the second floor, so it became hot and stuffy, and found it hard to sleep. No lift for second floor or at least I never saw one or was told about one.

Well located for access to the A1 and attractions such as Beamish and Tanfield Railway. Spotlessly clean and the towels were lovely & soft! Shower gel and shampoo by the bath/shower. Excellent value for money.

Breakfast choices were a bit lacking but it was a fairly minor point.

Not the property’s fault, more the corporate company. Due to a glitch whilst paying I ended up paying twice as my phone refreshed itself. I attempted refund through booking.com however the company refused me a refund for one room despite this clearly being unintended as I phoned immediately after it had happened.

The room itself was ok, although a little dated, and the staff were all very pleasant. I only had breakfast on site once but it was perfectly acceptable (full English).

There were no meals in the evening (although one staff member did say the evening staff would put a frozen pizza in the oven for me), which was far from ideal as I didn't have a car for the duration of my stay. There were a number of noisy drunks in the front car park past midnight (less than ideal when you have to be up at 0400 for work!).

I loved the staff (especially Steph who went over and above to try and get me early check-in as we were arriving from Ireland very early). Loved the breakfast and wee seating area with tv.

Room size was very small and no plug sockets near to the beds.

I was initially sent to an occupied room. I was shocked to see a gentleman upon entering the room and had to go back to reception. I was given another room without a sea view which was not I booked for. I found hair on one of the towels and by the sink and on the bed. I was too tired to go back to reception as it was almost midnight.

The hotel requires complete refurbishment. Furniture and decor is very outdated. The layout of the room was strange, two door when entering the room. The hotel needs better sound insulation. I can hear people walking up and down, talking in rooms next door. Rooms smelt damp and the carpet was sticky and needs replacing. The sofa in the reception area looks as though it needs to go in the bin. The restrant/reception was really strange and having the two together and again it all needs refurbishing.

There is ample parking facilities on site and it is free providing you enter your registration at reception on arrival. The staff were very pleasant, cheerful and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are adequate for their purpose with plenty of the usual facilities, teas, coffee, etc. The room was clean with plenty of towels. The shower was excellent, powerful and hot. The breakfasts were excellent, plentiful and cooked to order.

It would have been better if the hotel provided evening meals as the description on booking.com made no mention of this at the time of booking. Also there is a different rate for pre booked breakfasts, but again, there was no facility or mention of this on the description on Booking.com.

Mirror in bedroom to high couldn’t see to dry hair. The entrance and stairs and corridor to room was not up to standard . Needs painting , it looked more like a prison corridor, was not inviting, but the room was a good standard and warm and clean, water was hot .

Dated. Room was cold as the hotel did not bother to put the electric heater on knowing it would be a late arrival. Electric heater is far too small for the room
