The Mango Nest

Eine wunderschöne und gut gelegene Villa mit einem freundlichen Empfang. Alles wie abgesprochen, flexibler Gastgeber. Ich durfte auch kurzfristig per Überweisung bezahlen und wir durften sogar kostenlos Wäsche waschen. Alles schick, gerne wieder.

Erg ruim en comfortabel huis met binnenzwembad. Grote kamers met ruime badkamers. Ligging dicht bij het centrum, maar wel in een louche wijk.

Niet alle beddengoed was schoon. De keuken was vies en stinkt. De beheerder liep met regelmaat onaangekondigd door het huis.

The bedrooms were large and the air con in them worked well. Having an elevator to transport cases was very useful for our elderly group. Vijay, the caretaker, was helpful and pleasant.

It was very disappointing that the swimming pool was unusable as this was a main reason that we chose Mango Nest as an accommodation option. Also, the cleanliness of the kitchen was questionable.

The breakfast was good. The care taker was OK, but he was unable to communicate clearly. I don't think I will return to that property again.

The swimming pool could not be used as it was not cleaned. Also the pool is not illuminated at night.

This villa was exceptional - impeccably clean, stylishly designed, and absolutely stunning. The property is even more beautiful in person, with a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. Every space was maintained to the highest standard, and you can tell the hosts take great pride in the upkeep. It was peaceful, private, and the perfect escape from busy life. Everything we needed was provided, and the experience felt seamless from start to finish. We genuinely wished we could have stayed longer! Thank you to Vijay and Mathusan for looking after us! We will definitely be coming back to stay again!

Nous avons énormément apprécié le cadre ainsi que le personnel (Vijay en particulier qui est très à l'écoute).

Villa meravigliosa, completamente ristrutturata usando intelligenza e attenzione ai particolari, materiali molto belli. Si rifa' molto allo stile marocchino. Ogni stanza da letto (molto grandi) e' dotata di bagno privato. Piscina suggestiva nel mezzo del salone. 5 camere da letto e 6 bagni. Si nota lo sforzo di investimento in termini economici per rendere questa casa cosi' bella....fare attenzione che il passare del tempo e qualche incuria non la trascurino.

Casa sensazionale ma purtroppo qualche mancanza c'e'. La mia vuole essere una critica costruttiva perche' notare certe trascuratezze in una casa cosi' bella fa male. Da quanto ci hanno detto il proprietario e' americano e la casa e' gestita da 2 ragazzi del luogo. Mi sento anche in dovere di avvertirlo dopo tutti i soldi spesi. Purtroppo dopo 15 gg in giro per lo Srilanka abbiamo capito che il loro standard di igiene e cura e' al di sotto dei nostri parametri. La cucina e' completamente da rivedere. Sportelli divelti e scarsa igiene. Odore fisso di unto e sporco tant'e' che ci abbiamo cenato solo una sera. Nelle credenze disordine e sporco, tutto un po' unto intorno. Il frigo puzzava e disordinato. Nella zona di servizio esterna presenti centinaia di bottiglie di plastica buttate per terra, solo l'ultimo giorno le hanno messe in dei sacchi. Nella terrazza all'ultimo piano ancora residui di qualche festa passata. Il mio bagno: meraviglioso ma si vedeva che il pavimento della doccia aveva bisogno di una bella sgrossata. Insomma un passaggio sulla pulizia lo rifarai.

Es ist ein traumhaftes Haus! Das Personal super nett und hilfsbereit ( man muss sich nur kurz daran gewöhnen, dass Virgei immer im Haus ist) .

Der Pool und die Küche ( auch Schränke!)müssten mal richtig gereinigt werden. Es ist sehr rutschig, besonders wenn man aus den Badezimmern auf die positionierten Fußmatten tritt. Ich stürzte dadurch.

Our stay at The Mango Nest in Jaffna was truly unforgettable, and thanks to our incredible house keeper Vijay. His hospitality went above and beyond our expectations. Vijay was a courteous and generous from the moment we arrived. He not only ensured the property was impeccably maintained, but his local knowledge was invaluable. He provided excellent recommendations that helped us explore the best of Jaffna. What we are most grateful for is his kind assistance with our toddlers. Having an extra helping hand made our trip so much more relaxing and allowed us to fully enjoy the beautiful property. The Mango Nest is a stunning villa, and Vijay's warm and welcoming nature made it feel like a home away from home. We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Jaffna. Thank you Vijay for a truly memorable stay!

This is a beautiful home with a Moroccan feel. The rooms are large and the beds comfortable. Bathrooms nice with great water pressure. VJ welcomed us with a drink and in the morning prepared a beautiful western breakfast. A first time experience and he did it very well.

Everything was great. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Loved staying here. Madhusan and Vijay were very accomodating and helped us settle in. The property is beautifully furnished and (probably) architecturally designed. A great option for a group in Jaffna.

As discussed previously, the common areas are open air and attract bugs and mozzies. Would be good if efforts were put in to seal off the bedrooms so bugs couldn’t get in from the common areas or the outdoor bathrooms.

Nice place, good location,great food for breakfast, mathusan and vidusya were very attentive and helpful.

Problems with water heater, insects including cockroaches.

Stylish house with inside pool. Great for group visit to Jaffna. Breakfast were amazing. And the house manager Vidusha was really helpful and attentive. Good location and easy parking outside.

Super modern, AC in every room, and very clean. Definitely the nicest place I stayed at while in Jaffna. Host stayed in the house with us but was super nice, brought us juice when we checked in and gave us an awesome breakfast.

Bugs here and there but that’s just a part of Jaffna, much less than what I saw in other places I stayed at.

Helpful property manager (Mathushan) who was always around and willing to assist. Fantastic Jaffna breakfast served when ordered the night before. Clean indoor swimming pool (though not very deep) to help relieve from the Jaffna sun. Great rooms and bathroom. Interesting local art/photos on the walls as well.

Wifi not the greatest and spotty at times.

A lot of mosquitoes and the bathroom could be cleaner.

Beautiful colonial building, spacious and welcoming. Exactly like the photos. Has an elevator available for older guests or those with mobility difficulties or heavy luggage. Plenty of living space on ground floor and 1st floor with sofa and chairs and dining table. The beds were large and comfortable and the linen very soft. The aircon worked very well in every bedroom as did the fans. Hot water was available in the showers. Every bedroom had its own bathroom ensuite. Two bathrooms were open to the outdoors at one end which kept them cool. The concrete floor was quite slippy, so indoor flip flops were needed. The plunge pool is a lovely addition, although we didnt end up using it because the male housekeeper was always present downstairs. Would I stay here again? Yes, but only if the two rooms furthest from the stairs had mosquito nets (easy to do on the four poster bed, harder on the twin beds) if this were put in place the whole stay would have been much more pleasant. It is a beautiful house in a convenient location for most tourism sites and centre of Jaffna, and there was plenty of space for time spent together in the house. We had a good stay overall.

The main problem was excessive mosquitos. I wouldnt usually complain about this as they are a natural part of the environment. However, the windows and doors do not close fully with a seal and the bathroom window shutters cannot be closed and are above the living areas, so mosquitos continuously come into the house. The two rooms furthest from the stairs were the worst affected, I had 42 mosquito bites in 4 days. This is despite the plug in mosquito repellent and going round my room and bathroom with an electric racket that was provided for this purpose. I also wore full length clothes and mosquito repellent spray to bed. The housekeeper arranged for take-away breakfasts and dinner as requested that were paid for at checkout. On one occasion, he asked us to order our own takeaway. We also had to prompt him to offer tea/coffee in the morning as he wasn't as intuitive/obliging as other hospitality staff elsewhere. It wasn't clear if he was there to help us or not. I suspect he was there to make sure we didnt damage the furniture/property and to flag any maintenance issues e.g a toilet that kept running, and he updated the internet box whilst we were there. Also, all the soap dispensers in the house were constantly empty which was frustrating.

The property is superbly put together. The lay out is really lovely with all the bedrooms ensuite and it is the first time that in our travel in Srilanka that we found a property with a lift, it is very convenient for elderly people. It was really confortable.
