We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Kate’s Cottage. The location is simply stunning — peaceful, beautiful and the perfect place to switch off and enjoy the surrounding scenery. The cottage itself was spotless, extremely comfortable and felt very welcoming from the moment we arrived. Everything was well looked after and you can tell a lot of care has gone into making it a great place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights here and honestly didn’t want to leave. It was one of those places that made the whole trip feel that little bit more special. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Kate’s Cottage and would happily return again.
Genuinely very little to fault. If anything, our only disappointment was that we hadn’t booked to stay longer!
This cottage is gorgeous and in a wonderful location. The views are spectacular, there are lots of animals around and fantastic beaches close by. The host is a wonderful lady who we all absolutely loved.
Location!!.. just off WAW, nearby village, proximity to the local Tourist attractions, v friendly but unobtrusive neighbours & locals we met..

Un accueil chaleureux de Michèle, charmante maison spacieuse bien équipée et ben située.
Manquerait un lavabo dans les sanitaires du bas.
The cottage was homely and well equipped. The beds were comfortable. The surroundings were stunning.
Beautiful old cottage with a cosy fire stove. Well laid out kitchen/dining area. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely views and within walking distance to Kilcar. Spent New Years Eve and day there. Great walks on Muckress Head, Sliabh League & Glencolmcille Beach. Will definitely book again. Peter was very helpful.
Not much but maybe some heating in the downstairs shower room and toilet as they were cold! Wouldn't be an issue in the summer though.
A wonderful place to stay. The host, Michelle, is incredibly kind and takes excellent care of her guests. The cottage is lovingly designed and has everything you need.
2nd time staying here! Great place, convenient to a lot of sights. The O’Donnells are perfect, down to earth hosts right next door!! I asked where they’d gotten their placemats and coasters on the table, was told where to go, but when we went to check out, Mr had gone out and bought us some of the coasters and a set of salt and pepper shakers!! Will definitely be back again!!
Wonderful location, comfortable and spacious cottage, friendly people, great weather.
Nothing
Lovely cottage, exactly what we needed after a long hike at slieve league. Hosts were superfriendly. Wish we could have stayed longer!
It was a lovely experience. It had old world feel with all mod cons.
Everything!!! Michelle was super friendly, we loved her dogs Rosie & Molly. Michelle made sure everything was perfect. The scenery was breathtaking. If we ever make it back to Ireland we will definitely be staying at Kate’s Cottage.
what is it to like about the property? It’s Homie and beautiful. I have no complaints about the property.
The location of kates cottage was fabulous the scenery when opening the front door every morning was breathtaking and the host michelle went above and beyond for us such a lovely person to deal with and was so helpful , thoughtful and kind.
Nice cottage,.decorated as a sweet home. Great view, great location.
Quiet area. Nice views of countryside, mountains and the sea. Friendly neighbours. Village small, but small shop was very useful. Pubs were either closed or not serving food. The Rusty Mackerel Pub about 3 miles away did excellent food all day. Views in area wonderful. Very friendly and helpful owner.
Lack of local pub food. Very few cafes serving food and open. A lot of areas only opening Fridays and weekends...
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this lovely little rustic cottage set in the tranquil Irish countryside. The view from the cottage was beautiful. The location was very easy striking distance to a lot of the areas attractions such as Slieve League Cliffs. Communication with the host was efficient and easy.
Amazing location, beautiful view, peaceful. short walk to town. Best of all the host and family. Amazing kind helpful people, made our stay so enjoyable. I will return often it was such a special few days.
Really nice cottage, we had a great time!

Amazing stay! Lovely host!
Adorable house. Close to Sliabh Liag where we wanted to hike. The host was friendly and communicative.
Great central location for me. Quiet and comfortable.
We liked the fact that it was out away from everything. Muckros Head was very close by and this was one of the highlights of the Irish coast for us. There aren't many options to eat out (at least we couldn't find them). This was the one place we stayed with a kitchen which had pretty much everything we needed (except dish soap :) It was a very nice stay, close to the Slieve League Cliffs which was a great hike and site to see. Also - Donegal was probably our favorite city/town to explore.
Great location with wonderful view just outside the window.Walking distance from amazing view points and beautiful beach in close distance.Quiet area with no traffic around.great escape from city life.Cottage itself is amazing,we fell in love right away and it really felt like home away from home.
Location was fantastic
Loved the tranquility, & views
Lovely location and comfy cottage!
Very quaint and cosy, in a gorgeous location, and the host was very thoughtful.
Shower facilities could be updated.
The location was stunning.
Nothing
Fantastic location with view on the wild ocean, cute old style countryside cottage, very cosy and “personal“, feels like a real home. A lot of kitchen dishes. Very comfortable interior with lots of polar fleece blankets which makes it even more cosy. 15 mins drive from Sleave League cliffs visitor center. In Kilcar an old style manual wool mill factory.
It would be more handy to have some curtains in the bathrooms not to spill water all around.
This is a beautiful cottage set in a gorgeous location over looking sea and amazing views , the host were fabulous on hand if we needed anything and very attentive , beds were very comfortable had a great nights sleep, cottage was equipped with all wee needed and if we needed something Michelle was there to provide anything will definitely stay there again .. fabulous
Couldn’t fault this cottage at all
Nice Cottage, superb environment, excellent place to stay! Neighbours very good and helpful. Fireplace gives a warm cosy atmosphere in the evening, even a rainy day is easy to come over. Outstanding location to explore Slieve League and other places.
Nothing to say
Beautiful location, very homely.
The location was breathtaking, we were surrounded by so much Natural Beauty, everyone was so friendly. We were very close to Slieve Liag and lots of local attractions. We had a gorgeous meal in The Rusty Mackerel😋
The view was spectacular. It was ideally located for a trip to sleive league. We were delighted to meet the owner, michelle, who gave us the history of the house as it had been a tearoom. The heat worked well and the water was hot. We appreciated the smart TV so we could watch a movie together.
We were happy to have a washer but there is no dryer. However we were able to use the airer and radiators to dry things perfectly.
Kate’s cottage is in a perfect location with the most welcoming host Michelle and beautiful views. Michelle has a wealth of local knowledge of the area. The cottage has everything you need for a short or extended stay. Very relaxing and will most definitely stay again . Thank you Michelle.
Gorgeous view outside and wonderfully relaxing- I spent every morning sitting in front and enjoying my coffee. Great location from which to branch out and explore the towns and landmarks. The cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Everyone we met in Kilcar was incredibly friendly. I would've loved to stay longer!
Absolutely stunning part of the world, amazing property, a hidden gem
The home was so cozy with beautiful views. The village of Kilcar is small and super cute. There is a great grocery store, 2 pubs and a coffee shop. Beautiful walk to the village. 15 minutes to Slieve League and 15 minutes to Killybegs. 25 minutes to Town of Donegal.
Nothing it was perfect for our family
Clean and warm Great hosts
Very lovely people, we arrived about an hour too early, they were trying hard to get us in as soon as possible. The view from every window was beautiful. We enjoyed the fire place a lot. The house and the rooms are much bigger than on the pictures. We had lots of fun with the local people on new year swimming in the sea! Restaurants and pubs in the area were fab!
It was seriously perfect
What a beautiful homely Irish cottage with the most amazing views and Michelle was just so kind and helpful. Great location for Slieve League.
Nothing
Location was exactly what we wanted for hiking and the views.
Beautiful and quiet location. Very friendly host. Closea to beautiful scenery. House was well suited for one wheelchair user. Toilet downstairs was totally accessible. Separate shower wasKitchen was fine and lovely to have a washingmashine and lines outside that dried laundry superfast due to wind and sunny weather. Lovely stay
Suggestion to change the downstairs shower so accessibility for wheelchair user becomes easy. A stable shower chair would make life easier- along with a proper big bathroom zink
The cottage was very homely, cosy and well kitted out. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts, they were very welcoming and kind. Michelle, the bread was terrific.
Location was really great, loads to see, nice beaches, house was beautiful.
The rain
Michelle was an absolutely fantastic hostess. Very friendly. Her house is very rustic and traditional. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, very peaceful and quiet.
New on booking, old in hosting. Comfortable bed, great location, clean place. Netflix & internet. Don't wait for reviews, just book it
That I didn't knew about this place before.
The location was perfect, overlooking the sea - I could not have wished for a better overnight stay - Kate's Cottage is a little gem - the owner Michelle another gem who went out of her way to make our stay so memorable - everything was there and I could not have asked for more
I have no dislikes - it was perfection
